Lahore Karahi Halal Chinese and Balti in Birmingham

We've frequented this establishment over the years, however they seem to have taken a turn for the worst. They have moved in to the same building as Yaqub's Steakhouse, which I'm presuming is another one of their ventures! * The floor was sticky to the point we could hear our footwear squelching! * The table was sticky and dried rice was on the window ledge. * Dress code of staff was too casual * second table we moved to wasn't much better, we wiped it with wipes that we had because we didn't feel comfortable. * The menu's had dirt all over, they certainly haven't been given some elbow grease in a long time. * The glasses were wet * Cutlery was smeared and we had to wipe themourselves * The plates were also sticky and hadn't been cleaned properly. We asked them to change them twice. * We weren't asked if we wanted any drinks * I mentioned all this to the waiter and his response was they had to let staff go and they're struggling. * overall the experience was very poor, certainly a nail in the coffin we're not going back. I could carry on.... I'll leave it to you to think seriously before visiting either Lahore Karahi Chopstix or Yaqub's steakhouse on Highgate Rd, Birmingham. Go at your peril....

Siempre he pedido desde aquí y la comida es impredecible, pero los niños lo disfrutan. Pedimos hoy y obtuvieron tres platos terriblemente mal. El pollo maltratado no fue maltratado, el plato donde pedí verduras no tenía verduras y el otro estaba completamente equivocado. Después de una hora de tratar de pasar, me dijeron varias veces que no había ordenado hasta que se dio cuenta de que estaba equivocado. El gerente dijo que era porque no había ido antes y se disculpó. Cortésmente dije que no importaba ya que entiendo que estas cosas suceden y solo requieren un reembolso. Se disculpó y me dijo que lo dejaría en la siguiente orden, pero le dije que dudaba en pedir otra vez, así que insistió en que fuera a recibir mi reembolso. Le expliqué que ordené la entrega por una razón y que puede devolverla la próxima vez que alguien esté en la zona. Él no debe haber escuchado esto, ya que estaba ocupado hablando de mí y gritándome. Tomó mis datos bancarios para reembolsar solo los platos que salieron mal y me dijo que agregaría una nota para decir que no debería pedir de nuevo. Continuó gritándome después, aunque traté de explicar que estaba bien y solo quiero dar mi opinión y reembolso. Cuando señalé que estaba hablando por mí y no quería ningún resentimiento, me dijo que me estaba repitiendo a mí mismo y que por eso estaba hablando por mí. La llamada duró menos de 5 minutos y lo único que recuerdo haber repetido fue que no había resentimientos y que estaba bien. El gerente perdió los estribos y siguió gritando. Cuando mi esposo lo llamó, él le dijo que solo gritaba mientras le gritaban. Incluso si gritaba, seguramente podría haber sido más profesional. ¡Necesita menos que decir, dejaré de comer, ordenar y recomendar y compartiré mi experiencia con los demás! Horrible servicio al cliente. Compartido en Tripadvisor y revisiones de google. Continuará compartiendo como realmente decepcionado que un Gerente de un establecimiento puede ser tan grosero!

Cuando se abrió 1 calle, fue realmente bueno. Mantuvieron la buena calidad durante muchos años y siempre tuvieron un excelente servicio. Hacia el final perdió su atractivo y el servicio también se vio afectado. Una vez tuve una mala experiencia con uno de los camareros y el cajero porque parecía que el cajero había puesto al mesero en una situación mala que el cajero no había manejado bien él mismo, se desanimó y dejó de ir.

Solía visitar este restaurante en el 2008 cuando estaba lleno con los clientes con un ambiente muy animado. Octubre 2017 una visita a este restaurante. La decoración anticuada., sillas y mesas apiladas al otro en la esquina, me recordó a mi la abuela ático. Iluminación muy lúgubre, en general el ambiente era muy deprimente por lo menos. El camarero era vestido como el tío en mi Lavado de coches local! La comida. . Sopa caliente y amarga no puedo golpear, un poco caliente, pero nuevamente se llama caliente y picante. Así 6 / 10. Los platos de arroz, el chow mein sabor el chef tenía polvo crudo aliñado chili sobre ellos. Es insípida, de fundamento, no apetecible en todos los lugar descuidado, la comida no es lo que solía ser, a menos que la gerencia fija, no puedo ver el restaurante duradera a largo.

El servicio es excelente.Comida? No soy un ventilador de fusión tailandesa (si quiero comprar, me quedo de un tailandés. Si quiero chino, voy comprar de un chino), pero sirve un propósito como es sin licencia, así que es bueno tomar ciertos tipos de clientes algo diferente.

Volvimos a este lugar después de 12 años recientemente. Sigue siendo el mejor halal Chino en Birmingham. Lo mejor es el servicio muy personal y amable que nos dieron desde el host. La decoración es un poco antigua ya, este lugar ha sido por tanto tiempo - para mí que se siente nostálgico, pero algunos dicen que podría hacer con una actualización.

Luego, cuando se dio cuenta de que estaba equivocada, el gerente dijo que era porque él no estaba en la anterior. Me dijo educadamente que no importa como yo entiendo estas cosas pasan y sólo requiere un reembolso.Él se disculpó y me dijo que iba a bajarlo en mi próximo pedido, pero le dije que dudaba en orden de nuevo, así que él insistió en que para mi reembolso. First time I tried brilliant freshly cooked food very helpful staff and a huge choice of style and sauces. Highly recommended

Mi marido y yo hemos estado comiendo aquí felizmente ya que nos gusta la buena atención que nos dan.Sin embargo, desde enero de este año 2017 el servicio se ha convertido en muy pobre debido a que han decidido prestar más atención a los negocios de comida para llevar que junto al restaurante con muy poco personal.Es una pena porque es un sitio encantador con buena comida y música no hay basura en el fondo.Buenos precios y cocinar chino auténtico de allí las comidas muy apetecibles.Volveré en el futuro, pero ya no es primer lugar para comer en mi lista.

Decidimos ignorar las malas, pero ahora nos hubiera gustado haber escuchado. Fuimos en coche desde Londres nos llevó alrededor de 2. 5 horas de comida que parecía como si hubiese sido hecho de congelados. Definitivamente no es fresco. Aunque el servicio era agradable. Las bebidas eran horribles, realmente mal hechas. El restaurante estaba vacío, lo cual debe golpear campanas de alarma. Su decoración es agradable pero muy frío en el interior.

Me fui con mi novia, en un capricho. Sitio web parecía genial. pero me decepcionó encontrar este lugar estaba el antiguo lahore. pero la decoración karahai era genial. Pedimos la comida de un confuso. aunque Por desgracia, el camarero cuando pidió aclaraciones no era especialmente servicial. Pedimos unos platos chinos. La comida era muy buena. fresco y sabroso. Al final pedimos una tarta de fresa. a pesar de que dijeron que venían con helado y preguntar nunca con helado. la tarta era barato, congelados, Pastel de costco por desgracia. La mayor decepción fue la falta de ambiente, sin música, o algo así, sólo el snooker en el fondo como los camareros se levantó alrededor de ballenas. Volvería aquí sólo para la comida.

Ignore the negative reviews. Had the best Chinese here. Full of flavour and nice portion size. Even the starters were amazing. Pass on the deserts though.

I travelled 50 miles from Nottingham after getting doped by their fancy website.Restaurant was deserted on Friday night, which makes you wary and my worst concerns came true after tasting the starters. Chicken wings were stale and main course was barely edible. Hot & sour soup was ok.The whole place lacked atmosphere and this was not the dining experience my family was looking for

Excellent food, all the food was freshly made. Service was good too. Toilets were very clean, which I rarely see in a restaurant. Would definitely visit again.

We dined in as a family here on a Monday evening (15/08/2016) around 9 pm. This was our first time here and a halal Chinese restaurant that also serves Kashmiri food too ... that's different! We needed the waiters help and with his choices we waited for our food. There was only one table sat whilst we were there. The food was OK my daughters didn't enjoy there;s but they did try it! I, on the other hand did enjoy my daughters noodles rather than my king prawns! It was nice and different! Excellent service with a smile even accommodated me somewhere to prayer whilst dining in! Well done guys!

I visited here and found it to be ok - I ordered some chinese rice , chicken chow mien and kebabs - It was ok , food was nice - the decor is ok too - nothing special but not bad either - They know what they are doing with the food although the for could be a bit spicier. I enjoyed it and so did the family. would recommend

Ordered lamb chow mein and chicken chow mein we got it delivered was not cooked properly, the lamb was hard and very chewy, ended up throwing both away. Not coming back here ever again.

Visited here on a Saturday around 10pm. Ordered 3 Starters and 3 main dishes along with a couple of portions of rice. Service was ok with the waiter being knowledgeable about the food and very helpful in advising us. The drinks took a while to arrive but the food came out fairly quickly. Both starters and mains were enjoyable and of good quality.The prices were reasonable and portion sizes good. The only thing that lets the place down for me is that you can't take alcohol in nor do they serve it, and also the atmosphere and decor could do with updating.

Took the family out for a meal and decided on some Chinese food. This place used to do great food so I thought we would try it as we hadn't been there for a couple of years.On arrival the restaurant was completely empty and I did think about turning around and leaving but my kids were hungry so we just went in. There were a few waiters around and they were very odd indeed. One of them came over to take our order which was very difficult as the menu is so strange where you have to choose the sauce and then what meet you want in it? also the font of the text makes the menus really hard to understand. He took our drinks order and food and then left. After 10 minutes the first food started coming but the waiters had forgot our drinks so I had to remind them about our cokes which he quickly went to get. The waiters looked totally unprofessional and at one point it looked like the boss was lecturing them. They had the personality of stones, totally rubbish service and a shambles.the food was not that great. If you want traditional Chinese then this place isn't for you.It's almost like they added little twists to each of the meals. They also forgot one of our dishes so I had to remind them, and they cooked it quickly but we had almost finished.We didn't order dessert and left quickly after finishing.The menus look new but the building and decor need a serious looking at. It's like something from the 1970's. Also if you have a restaurant that could have potential, then pay more money for some better experienced waiters,waitresses.I wouldn't go back there until it changed completely.

I came here a couple of times when it was called lahore halal chinese but since then the name appears to have changed. I dont know if its just the name thats changed or if the old place has closed down completely. But when I did eat here on both occasions the food was spot on! The decor and furniture inside was high class and the service was also exemplary. It an open kitchen so you get to see the chefs at work. The waitor made sure we had everything we needed and had a friendly dispostion. The prices were quite high but the portion size made up for it.

The exterior of the restaurant was impressive, but as we went in, it was completely empty, save for a family of 5. One waiter wasn't very happy to be there, texting when the manager wasn't looking and carelessly placing sauces on our tables.The food was cold, tasteless and rubbery- it wasn't even authentic Chinese food! It was most definitely not fresh and food was served poorly and was not aesthetically pleasing. Would not recommend this place and we all got a funny stomach the day after. :(

Ordered the singapore rice and the dry beef chilli.The rice and the beef were so salty it was not enjoyable. The beef was too dry and chewy and had no flavour. The rice was overly salty and over coloured with tumeric.

Having been disappointed here before, my urge for Chinese food vs what was open near me resulted in me ordering a takeout for delivery.Both the dishes I ordered were amongst the best I've ever had, delivered bang on time and piping hot. I would like to say I was very very impressed with the food and has gone to the top of my list for ordering in. Many thanks to the management and the excellent chefs keep it up!!!

An old friend took me once few years back. Brought my family and they didn't let me down. The food was very tasty and everybody loved it. The place needs a bit of modernisation. However the staff are brilliant. Keep it up.

This was one of the best places for Chinese food in Birmingham. All the items used to sing with excellent flavour and had a proper differentiation between dishes. Now the menu is lacklustre and the food is poor. No real flavour. The decor has been updated but I don't go for the decor I go for the food. I'm disappointed but I hope they change as I love Chinese food and I do not want to trek to oodles noodles for mediocre Chinese

Best halal chinese food in Birmingham but eating in is uncomfortable. Furniture is very old and look dirty. Could do with a refurb.

Ive ordered food from lahore chinese a couple of times now but each time i order the standard of food is bein dropped. You expect the continuous pace of quality food. They seem as if they are not bothered. Especially for the price of food. I was very disapointed the food was cold when it arrived. I asked for indian curry sauce and i got onions n tamatoes floating in sum kind of paste. The fries wer all soggy couldnt eat the food £20 + in the bin. Will not be ordering again.

First and foremost comes the service element. Being the first Halal Chinese Restaurant in Birmingham has had to come with a big tag, and Chinese being the other half's favourite food, we thought we try it out. The reason the other half loves Chinese is the Hot & Sour Chinese soup, and from the outset it wasn't delivered as per her taste. Firstly it wasn't Hot, rather Cold, secondly it had shrimp in their which we clearly asked for it to not be in there, and the serving was enough to serve a Child. After being disappointed by the soup, the mains soon arrived and the service was absolutely horrendous after we requested the mains be served with the starter. Non the less it arrived and we were hungry, and the food looked as if it had been microwaved and the Chicken and egg fried dish that came tasted very salty and just wasn't 'Chinese' at all more Balti. We finished up as much as we could and went to pay the bill, with the intention to make our feelings known about our experience and our distaste of the food! The person at the till played down our concerns and suggested the cooks brought out a fresh batch of soup and he was advising us that the hot and sour soup comes with Shrimp, even though we requested NO shrimp which this was acknowledged by our waitress. I paid the bill and indicated my wife to leave, I left first with my other half and daughter behind. When my wife re-joined me she told me that the staff at the counter was talking to the other staff about my dissatisfaction and that I was just being unreasonable and petty. I will not be visiting this shambles of a place again and anyone reading this should do the same. NB: Look at the other poor reviews, clearly this can't be a proper restaurant if its run like this.

Decided to head to Birmingham for dinner with 2 of my brother in-laws. Drove around a few areas and eventually decided to eat here. I was somewhat sceptical as this was 2nd visit, the first was mediocre as I recall the chefs limited skills to cooking a Chinese. On this occasion I ordered the beef dim sum and the chicken chow mein and I must admit the food was excellent. The food was brought out promptly and the service was excellent. The waiter recommended a special sauce to accompany the mains and it didn't disappoint. This particular evening, the restaurant wasn't busy. I would definitely come here again.

Poor quality of food I wouldn't recommend here I tried the curry's and Chinese food not good quality at all. I would avoid it.

This year already I have been to this restaurant twice and am planning to again for my 10 years wedding Anniversary dinner.Honestly I cannot fault anything apart from delicious hot freshly served food!I always order Prawn Toasts and Chicken Corn Soup for starters.Main course is Battered Sweet and Sour Chicken with Manchuria Beef and vegetable Chowmein plus fried rice.Nothing to fault!

Ordered a take away and it was ok. Nothing to write home about. Delivery was quite quick and the food was average. The egg fried rice wasn't too bad but the king prawns in the black bean dish was a little bland. Felt it wasn't cooked enough.

It looks big on the outside and inside could do with a revamp... but I cant fault the food.. it was promptly delivered to the table, the food itself was very good, there was a good choice on the menu and the prices were reasonable. There did not seem to be many people at the time I was there- perhaps they were having a bad evening in terms of customers... if they did a little more in terms of the aesthetics of the restaurant they would attract more... still the food is very good and so i give it a thumbs up!

Did I just enter a Chinese restaurant in Pakistan in the 1970's? This place is clearly the manifestation of the owners idea of good Chinese food that caters to Pakistani's like they're used to in Pakistan. The problem with that is that it comes across painfully dated and irrelevant when second and third generation Pakistani's are looking for something alot more current and sexy. On top of that the food is pants as well. The End.

We've visited this restaurant many times over the years and were huge fans of their food. We recently visited and I can honestly say the only thing which was decent were the spring rolls (which I assume would have been from a packet anyway). Our chicken tikka masala came out with red chicken tikka pieces but they were thrown into a horrible brown salty sauce which can only be described as a Bisto gravy tasting. A chicken tikka for those who don't know is a sweet tasting dish and not bitter/salty. We returned the dish which then took approximately half an hour to re-cook, Again when it came out it was nothing like a proper chicken tikka dish and we had lost our appetite sharing a hot & sour Chinese dish was very bland with very little flavour. It's safe to say we won't be returning again. We noticed on leaving the "Lahore Chinese" signs were removed from the outside of the building and all the staff were different. We had to go elsewhere afterwards to have a decent dessert to salvage our evening.Staff were pleasant but not particularly knowledgeable. No apologies or discount given for a meal which was very obvious we were not happy with.

Well, I was seated and then had to wait 20 minutes for a waiter to approach us. He took out orders for starters then he disappeared without asking us for the main or any drinks. After we've eaten our starters we then had to order out main, resulting in longer wait times. The waiting staff were also inexperienced clumsy.

Overall it was a bad experience from the staff to the food. The waitress knew nothing about any of the food we asked about on the menu and when we asked to speak to another member of staff that did they did not come to us. The food was not very pleasant and did not appear to be fresh. Also the naan bread and poppadoms were literally dripping in oil. I was not satisfied with any of the food or the poor service provided. Would not recommend it.

Visited this restaurant with 5 other friends last saturday 10th May 2014 at 7.15pm. I had told my friends again and again about how tasty and authentic their Chinese dishes are and how we must visit it, so finally after weeks we made it here.After being seated in the middle of the restaurant near the kitchen we requested to move to a corner of the restaurant for a little privacy as the seatings are too close together and feels too cramped. Upon arriving there were probably 4-5 other families there before us but by the time we were leaving the restaurant was packed out and quite a few unhappy customers.The waiters seemed like amateurs, distracted and were slow. It took 20 mins for our drinks to arrive and then starters followed 10 mins later. At this time it was about 7.45 and we placed an order for mains which included 7-8 dishes including fried rice, noodles, beef, chicken, prawns.We noticed about half an hour later that our food still hadn't arrived, not even 1 of the dishes. We tried looking out for waiters but restaurant was getting busier hence they were rather occupied. Finally after 10 mins we managed to stop 1 of the waiters and inquired about our mains. He left and never returned, then 10 mins later we asked the female waiter and she said ok but never returned then 15 mins later we approached the female waiter again as they seem to be avoiding us but still we were not giving any feedback. 9pm we were starving, furious, my friend went to inquire from the chef/manager upon which we were told 5-10 mins MORE. When she returned to the table, my friends were very unhappy, starving & furious as other customers who came after us were indulging in their mains. We decided we would not wait any longer and wanted to leave but they pulled up a bill of almost £47 just for starters & drinks HOW CHEEKY! I had to complain further and speak to the manager before we got given approx £12 off. AT this point the manager still insisted that food was ready for us and it was not right of us to LEAVE it but when i looked in the kitchen the chef were busy cooking FRIED rice ONLY and couldn't see any of our other dishes made or being made…… WE had such a poor evening, friends probably blaming me for the recommendation and we had to deal with crying babies/angry husbands upon returning home.I think this restaurant is very poorly managed and very slow. They have gone worse as years have gone by and new restaurants have opened. Anyways thanks to FARGOS FOOD FACTORY we managed to end the night on a good note with delicious tasty handmade burgers & really quick serving!

I use to love this resturant. Throughtout the years this resturant has decreased in value and quality. If the resturant did which i doubt. Went back to its hay days. I would recommend this with a 5 star. Otherwise I would look around for another halal chinese resturant. This is not exactly a cheap place. It is very dear. I would avoid this place until drastic changes are made.

my mate always on about this place so thought give it a shot. trust me it was the worst place i been to so far. the smell of the food puts you off plus no taste wont be going back again

Came here for valentines day with my bf. As soon as I saw the dirty toilet I had to run out from here. Even the plates had oily hand marks. Very poor service. Restaurant looks dead ! Spend all money on decos instead of service and hygienes !!

Came here with a group of friends and the food was excellent, love the decor of the place and the starters where so tasty, highly recommend the chicken rolls and wings. Main course we ordered a variety of dishes but I order the szilling prawn munchuriun with spicy beef fried rice it was so nice, really tasty with a nice kick to it. all my friends really enjoyed there meals and I will be back very soon. Service was good, waiters where very chatty and full of knowledge .

Food so good but poor service and toilets are not clean, plats not wash properly every time they have new staff

balti served was good. I must appreciate that food and the way it was cooked and presented. But sorry to say that that Chinese was way out of the line. My humble suggestion is that they will excellent if they stick to Balti .

This has got progressively worse over the years. A good steam clean of the dining area coupled with re-training for the staff would help but if the quality and taste of the food do not improve it will be to no avail. This is one of those establishments that has always added a service charge regardless of the quality of the service. In previous years, this wasn't an issue because the waiters were very attentive, now I resent having to pay a obligatory "tip" for hopeless and poor service. The Hot and Sour Soup and Beef Sizzler are admittedly still pretty good but the rest of the Chinese menu isn't of a sufficient quality and taste to justify the premium pricing. Having said that, the absence of any other decent Halal Chinese competitors means Lahore will plod along. I have never order anything from the "Balti Menu" so can't comment.

Lovely food, exquisite menu- a bit pricey but worth it once in a while for a special occasion or treat for someone special.

Simply put, the food was ok. However the restaurant needed a good clean! Everything felt so sticky. Which out me off coming back :( The waiters need to be retrained. They just stare at you while you eat

Visited this resturant for my birthday with few friends. The deco is lovely, very unique and authentic. food was a let down. could not make the chinese food to a good quality. that was a big disapointment.

there food is good prices are reasonable too. tbh and the place is dull but service is good atmosphere is average overall i give this place 8 out of 10, its good but there are better

Went there for an early dinner during Christmas holidays. Pros:1. Excellent taste. Went for the chinese option and found the taste to be as good as any other I have had for a long time. Although i didn't try to Pakistani food but it smelled great.2. Accepts tastecard3. There is free parking if you get there in time4. Nice location5. Very friendly staff.Cons:1. Food is good value for money but can be bit heavy on the budget if you eat there very often.The staff was nice enough to accept my tastecard even though I had not called before arriving(which is a requirement for tastecard). Great Pakistani hospitality

Oh Dear, I can tell you that I take absolutely no pleasure in writing this review - but feel that I must!Let's start witht the positives, the restuarant is clean and decorated in a colonial style that befits the name. The kitchen area is in full view of the diners and the service was swift, helpful and friendly.... now lets get onto the food!We chose a starter and a Curry each from the Pakistani menu, along with poppadums to nibble and Pilau Rice and Peshwari Nann to accompany our main. The Poppadums were tasty, but very oily - not too much of an issue really. The starters, Sheek keebab and chicken Pakora, were nicely cooked and at this point we thought we had struck gold, sadly however the rest is downhill.The Pilau arrived having been 'stir-fried' in a Wok and was hard and oily, the Lamb Bhuna it accompanied lacked depth in the sauce, which had a 'burnt' aftertaste and the meat ranged from chewy to hard in texture. The Chicken Tikka Masala - a Birmingham speciality - faired slighty better, in that the meat was properly cooked, but again the sauce had no depth of flavour. The Nann was a disgrace .. admit it guys, you warmed that up in a microwave? - soggy and doughy are the kindest words I can use, Nann is cooked in a tandoor, or at least something like!My thoughts are that this kind of 'fusion' doesn't work - you can't cook good curries in a Wok - so stick to one thing or the other!

This place use to be good few years ago. But went there recently food was terrible. Service was terrible.

Went here for my sister's birthday. We were the only diners in the restaurant on a saturday evening, that should have tipped me off imemdiately. The staff stared at us through the kitchen, very uncomfortable. The food we ordered was all asian dishes. It was worse than takeaway curries. The "sauce" was tasteless slop, with almost no chicken or meat in the dishes - a complete rip off. I was furious. I was actually too angry to complain - that's saying something - as it was a birthday event and I didnt want to ruin the atnosphere for our party. I paid through gritted teeth. Needless to say, we will never return and I wish I had demanded a bill reduction, it would have been completely justified. Avoid this place like the plague.

I've been to this restaurant a couple of times before although the last time was over a year ago and the food was good then, but went a couiple of days ago and the food was terrible. We rang a few days earlier to make a reservation and when we got there, only 2 of the 20+ tables were occupied and they were asking if we made a reservation. The starters were half cooked. We should have left after the starters and go elsewere. The mains were terrible and some were outright disgusting. I think we left one of the curries 90% untouched. Will not be going back there again.

Just really had bad experience staff are rude. Had yo pay 10% charge. Not happy chicken was smelt really bad & it was rubbery. Over priced I've even been to there steakhouse just over the road which has just opened. That is even more over priced steak came on cold plates lamb starter was a joke. They really don't know how to run resturants avoid big disappointment.

Me an my partner went to lahore Karahi, to have a Chinese, would not even call it Chinese food to be honest tasted nothing like Chinese, not worth it. first of all it was really dead inside, staff were a disappointment, whilst serving it was as if the plates were being thrown at you did not feel nice being served like this, also they were in a hurry to serve the main course before we had even finished our starter, an they kept looking, not very pleasant when you are trying to enjoy but being felt you are rushed, they decor was nice, but it was freezing, atleast should have some heating, we had to keep our coats on. The food was really not worth it and it did tnot even taste like a Chinese, the lamb was soo dry it tasted as if it was made few days ago. Did not finish my dish. On top of that we had to pay service charge which we did not want to as it doesn't go to the staff, when I tip I like it to go to the staff, not to boost up extra profit for the business a very sly way to take more money, when we said we did not want to pay he argued an said all restaurants do it, we said we do not have to as it the staff don't get it. oIn the end the guy who I think is the manager said ok you don't have to this time, but next time I'm not serving you. How rude!! Was shocked will never be going there again.

me and my partner went their for our anniversary, as we both love chinese food. before we went i looked up the reviews and the pictures and i was wowed. but unfortunately when we went there we were shocked. when we arrived it was dead quiet, my partner requested table decorations which they did not do (no roses on the table how dissaponting) we assumed the food would be goood since were paying soo much but even then it was disgusting; it was greasy and undercooked. the food. the atmoshphere and the service we paid for was ridiculous considereing we paid that much for it.

A really mixed bag on our hands here. The Chicken Manchurian was great and the chicken and sweetcorn soup wasn’t too bad either along with their noodles and rice but thats about where i draw the line because it isn’t exactly difficult to get noodles and rice right.If what i was given was actually their idea of “lamb with black bean sauce” then they need to get their chef onto masterchef to learn a thing or too. The lamb was very rubbery and tasted like it had been left lying around for days on end. I wouldn’t be surprised if it was recycled from the previous couple of days rather than freshly cooked on the day. And the flavouring of the actual dish left me wandering whether they’ve actually ever tasted black bean sauce.The starters should also be avoided – poorly prepared, poor taste and overpriced.Overall I would give the place one thumb down. The food which was good was very good but if you happen to pick one of those more tasteless dishes (probably half the menu), your not in for a very good dining experience.

Last saturday my family came to lahore karahi chinese to celebrate our son's birthday.none of us had eaten at lahore karahi before, we were made very welcome and our 8 year old grandson was given very kind attention by the waiters,\Their service to us all was excellent and the food was wonderful, nothing was too much trouble and your manager kept a discreet, but watchful role.You are to be congratulated, super food, kind caring and pleasant staff and management, pleasing decor and great atmosphere.I am of the opinion that the acid test of a meal out is when the bill is presented, do i consider weather it represents good value, this bill represented excellent value.Most customers dont praise special efforts and excellent value and it is rare that i fell the need to write a review, but nine of us expressed the desire to repeat a very pleasing eating experienece and we shall.john m smith

you cant get halal chinese food at many places even in a diverse place like birmingham. However what lahore karahi seems to have forgotten that although they may have found a gap in the market, the gap alone will not be enough. extremely poor service, shocking ambience and just a general inability to serve destroys any thrill i may have had for finally trying some halal chinese food. best way to sum it up....'flat coke'

I have eaten at many restaurants in my time, me and my partner love trying different restaurant, we came across Lahore karahi whilst i was on the internet looking for restaurant which had a fusion feel to it. i was not disappointed, the decor was beautiful, the staff where great, a really family run business. The food was so tasty and my husband loved the chicken munchariun (i think that how you spell it) since the first time we have brought so many people back to Lahore, its become our 2nd home, trust me it has. we even have takeaways delivered to us now.

went here with my family the other week and i all i can say is what a place, i have had chinese food at alot other places the fusion between chinese and asian is excellent, a real treat for me and the family, keep up the hard work. The decor is great u really feel relaxed and at home

Top place to go if you like chinese and Indian..the starters and main course are delicious.

absolute rubbish the prawn balls i can only describe as fishy smelling rubber sponges. the jalfraizi was worse than a takeaway from the local supermarket and the service was very poor will not be visiting there again a complete waste of money
