La Trompette in Hounslow

We've been coming to La Trompette for many years to celebrate special occasions and it's never, ever disappointed. The quality of the produce, the flavours and the wonderful presentation make the high price tag worth paying - you know you're eating dishes that have taken significant time, effort and passion to get to the table. Some small things have changed over the years - the rather cold post-refit décor or the loss of the range of breads offered at the beginning of the meal for example - but these are tiny niggles in what's a real treat as an overall experience. Finally, whatever the flavour of the soufflé on offer - don't miss it!!!!

My wife and I started with tuna sashimi. I then had the ox cheek and roasted rump cap and my wife had the saddle of venison. I finished with pecan eclair and my wife had the lemon posset. All were excellent and accompanied by wines recommended by the sommelier, which we felt matched very well. We would like to thank Christina for the great service. We are looking forward to returning!

Ondanks zeer wisselende commentaren moet ik werkelijk zeggen dat dit een fantastische ervaring was. Ik was hier met een groep van in totaal 12 collega's, waarbij we ook een ronde tafel hadden in een aparte ruimte wat voor de akoestiek ook een verademing was. De service en de maaltijden, alsmede de wijnkeuze waren eenvoudig weg fantastisch. Ja, het is natuurlijk niet goedkoop, maar dat is het nergens in Londen en bovendien heeft dit restaurant ook een Michelin ster. Interieur ook zeer sfeervol. Kortom, een aanrader

We’d been wanting to eat here for years and thanks to a raffle prize win (Thankyou Sipsmith!) we finally got the chance. Having looked at the menu 100s of times beforehand we could pretty much phone in what we wanted to eat. I had the crab and scallop tortellini followed by ox cheek and the passion fruit tart for pudding. My other half had the sashimi to start followed by pigeon and chocolate brownie. We finished with their recommendation of cheese. The whole meal was very delicious and the service excellent. Our champagne, wines and port were also very well paired. Thankyou to all who looked after us, we had a great time! X

On our Anniversary, La Trompette team spoilt us big time. We booked our table well in advance and were delighted to given such a warm welcome. Everything felt and tasted awesome. Delicious food including starter of the special crab and scallop tortelloni. Followed by thinly sliced Devonshire duck breast, petit pois a la francaise, crisp potato galette and pancetta in roasting juices-wow! Puds included toasted almond custard with poached cherries. We have already booked our next visit. That’s how much we enjoyed our visit and it felt like the big celebration which it was.

My favorite was the sorbet that reminded me of the beginnings of a sunny side up. All best to the server with plans for medical school. Another highlight was watching a friend enjoy his meal. He closed his eyes with delight. Priceless.

A truly stellar experience. The team at La Trompette were ultra- professional, charming and friendly. A wonderful night 22nd June 2024 was, thanks to them.

Excellent food as always and still one of my preferred place in London. Wine disappoints though. In fact, while the restaurant’s wine list remains one of the best in London, both wines we had (a white and red) were quite flat dispute a very high price point of 80-95£. Both were recommended by the sommelier, so we were even more disappointed.

I visited the restaurant with 4 friends. We were seated on a round table, which was great. The restaurant has a lovely ambiance and feels informal. So many fabulous positives - the service, the tasty food and plenty of menu options. I would definitely recommend La Trompette.

Sunday lunch 25 September. Absolutely fabulous in every way. All dishes amazing along with the service and atmosphere.

Visited La Trompette as part of a no-corkage BYO wine deal from my wine merchant. Took the allowed bottle each - one champagne and one red Bordeaux - and settled in for lunch. We started with a Bloody Mary and a couple of oysters; Dorset rock oysters with tamarillo hot sauce, celery and lime, which were absolutely delicious. We both opted for the starter of Foie gras and chicken liver parfait, Muscat jelly, toasted pistachios and brioche, which was light and creamy, with a generous slice of brioche. The pistachios added texture and the muscat jelly a decadent sweetness. The champagne was an excellent accompaniment. For mains, my wife had Suffolk pork rib eye with pumpkin puree, fondant potato, trompettes, capers, sage and crackling, and I had the Veal rump and glazed cheek with creamed polenta, roasted tomato and gremolata. Two clean plates were delivered back to the kitchen! A lovely combination of flavours and textures. We then opted to share a cheese plate to accompany the last of the red wine, and the cheese choices were excellent. My dessert was malt custard with toasted almond ice cream and cocoa nib bricelet, and it was sublime - a glass of Sauternes was it's natural bedfellow! I greatly enjoyed chatting to Donald, the very engaging and knowledgeable sommelier, and all the waiting staff were efficient, and very pleasant. All in all, a very satisfying and delicious lunch, and a great find. We will certainly return!

Fantastic evening - friendly staff and great choice on the three course menu; I chose the Pork Chop which was great. The cured Seabass was fresh and the goosebury soufflé was the best we have tasted. Should be on everyone’s to do list.

We simply cannot fault the whole dining experience. We were here for our anniversary meal and from the moment we walked through the door to when we left the entire experience was perfect. The meal was delicious, the wines lovely and the service impeccable. I love my cheese too and they have a cheese trolley ! So rarely see that anymore... Couldn't recommend enough

Been a couple of times with a friend who doesn't live too far from Chiswick. Lovely ambience, really really good food. They really do listen to feedback! Kern makes sure all his guests are looked after. I'll be honest and admit that the first time around, I wasnt convinced... second time was a lot better.. no bad dishes, just better choices. -Would definitely go back!

Ahhh La Trompette, we love you! Returned for the first time in over a year for our wedding anniversary and it was as good as ever! Food, service, wine and cheese all flowed seamlessly as we were immersed in one of my favourite dining experiences. Cannot recommend this highly enough.

We often meet friends her for dinner. I could say that it's because it's halfway between where we all live, but really it's because we love coming here. The dining room is lovely (a nice size with tables not too close or far away from each other). The food is excellent and I always umm and err between various dishes on the menu as they all look so tasty I've no doubt we'll return.

La Trompette is a great restaurant. The food is excellent and the service is usually great. It's not a cheap restaurant but you pay for the quality. £17.50 for a glass of alcohol-free "sparkling wine" and the arrogant sommelier's response to my query really took the shine off what was otherwise a really nice evening.

We always enjoy our visit to La Trompette and last night was no exception. Excellent food. Fully recommend the sashimi and/or scallops starters. The lamb was excellent. The port with the cheese was divine. Service was excellent as usual.

Was first Michelin star experience and was not disappointed. Staff were very professional and friendly and the menu was very intriguing and exciting. For starters I had the English asparagus which was very rich and creamy, though quite difficult to eat with a knife and fork! For mains I had the lamb which was a rarity for me but it was well made and presented with a good amount of fat on the lamb. For desserts I had the mille feuille which tasted delicious and was something I had not tried before. We were pleasantly pleased to also receive a Happy Birthday small edible dish that we could share, and also were excited by the English red wine featured on the list which was quite good. All in all was a very memorable and lovely experience.

Awful customer service. Arrived early for lunch and just told "we're not open". No - can we pop you in corner whilst we get ready.

Poor, poor, poor. Made to sit outside in the cold as they were "not ready'. No offer of water, coffee, drink whilst we waited for La Trompette to deign to take our money for a birthday lunch - gone downhill, used to excel at customer service - now it appears customers are an inconvenience - went to another Chiswick restaurant which could teach this establishment a thing or two.

Once again this place delivers. Stunning food with friends made for a great evening. Starting with juicy oysters, followed by divine fish and rich desert. Always a winner. Very happy this is local!

He estado en La Trompette varias veces, pero esta fue la primera visita después del cierre. No había una mesa vacía en el lugar y tuve la mejor comida que he tenido allí, con el raviolo de codorniz como entrante siendo el punto alto, aunque la pintada también fue excelente. El menú de almuerzo de tres platos tiene una excelente relación calidad-precio para un restaurante con estrellas Michelin y el servicio fue tan amable y atento como siempre.

Tuve el placer de comer aquí el viernes pasado. Éramos parte de un grupo y tuvimos un excelente maridaje de vinos con la comida. Compramos el vino con nosotros para el almuerzo. Mi almuerzo fue excelente comenzando con ostras, seguido de cordero y terminando con una selección de quesos. El personal fue excelente y nos cuidó bien. Recomiendo encarecidamente una visita.

This was my wife and I, first 'fine dining' meal since the Covid lockdown and we were both very much looking forward to it. We wanted to avoid Central London but not too far out, so the location of this restaurant was perfect. Also, the area it is located is very lively as you would expect in that part of Chiswick. For a European Michelin star restaurant, we found the place quite informal and casual. It was probably one of the more noisy Michelin starred establishments that we have been to. Service was good but again there is some informality in that. One example is where my wife's drink was placed on her table by the waiting staff (on route) whilst he was in full motion moving towards another table. In terms of food, all my three courses were very well executed, which I really enjoyed. The apple crumble souffle was superb, despite the fact it came within 10 minutes. A lot of establishments require a 20 minutes wait to have that prepared from scratch. There was also no 1 cm oil at the bottom, which we had encountered at other places. Unfortunately, my wife did not enjoy her courses as much as I did. Although we noted additional Covid measures were put in place (such as there being a sanitiser on each table), we did however note the cheese trolley near the close to exit of the kitchen that was left uncovered during the several occasions we visited the toilet.

I was expecting much more from the Michelin star place...especially on my birthday.Staff: attentive,but selectively on some guests. We were left alone, occasional pop up to ask how was food, no warm and cosy chit chat that you would expect from a place like that. Food: very good! Except the dessert was let down for my personal taste - apple crumble souffle was too sour,even a ball of vanilla ice cream did not help.Wine: we have chosen a great bottle, but except little help with tasting from the staff we were left alone to serve it for ourselves.Would I come back-no. Food was not out of this world, staff not attentive and the place is not welcoming as you would expect.

We had a wonderful post lockdown lunch here. The place was buzzing, and the staff were as friendly as ever and following social distancing guidelines. As for the food, everything we tried from the set 3-course menu was cooked to perfection and highly enjoyable. There’s no other restaurant in the vicinity that comes close for producing high quality cuisine at reasonable prices.

Le Trompette provided a formal dining experience & excellent service for us dining there this week. We sat on the right of the restaurant which provided tables well spaced out and we felt it was more intimate and very comfortable. Staff were attentive and helpful. The 3 course set menu is £60 pp and I have to say that its a bit expensive once you add a 12.5% service charge. For two people that's £135 before any drinks. The wine selection is very good, I really enjoyed the wine however my wife who was pregnant found few non-alcoholic options and stayed with cranberry juice. The food was prepared very well and was very quick to plate up and serve. The textures & consistency of the food (particularly the volute) were perfect. Bottom line: I would return but the price needs shaving or the main courses need to offer more.

This is my favourite restaurant of all time! The food and service is magnificent. The best is the tasting menu with the recommended wines.

I dine quite regularly at La Trompette and it’s one of my favourites in West London. Consistently good food, innovative cooking, great service, lovely dining room - La Trompette ticks all the boxes! I had lunch there just before the Covid 19 shutdown and will be back as soon as life returns to normal.

La trompette is a superb establishment that never disappoints in any way. Over nearly two decades we have always had a fantastic experience that keeps us coming back.

As usual the food and service was great. I’m vegetarian and love the truffle linguini, the amazing selection of wine, and of course the cheese board. I am a little paranoid about the current risks and discretely asked for a table away from others. They put me in the room next door, about 5m away from everyone else. Great friendly service as usual.

Living just round the corner, I'm a regular diner. The food is always excellent, the service attentive without being overpowering, and the ambiance warm and friendly. And still no music, thank goodness. Once again an excellent lunch.

La Trompette is our favourite restaurant. We live in Southampton but travel up to London as we love the food so much. We always have the tasting menu. All the staff are lovely.

La Trompette is an absolute gem! The wine list is so extensive, the food is absolutely delicious, the service is next to none! The menu is very balanced with meat, fish and vegetarian options, there is also a tasting menu which looked divine as well! I had the cod and my boyfriend had the lamb, we were both very happy with our choices! The restaurant is keeping classic French traditions with a modern twist! Will absolutely visit again!

Absolutely fabulous food. Chose from the a la carte menu and every course was perfect. I had cheese for desert. The cheese cart choice was fantastic, some of the tastiest cheeses I've had in a long time. Topped off with the perfect salted caramel tuffle. The servcie was superb as well.

We had a great anniversary celebration. Delicious food, great wine list and very attentive staff. High recommended for special occasions, we’ll definitely be back.

Only 3 tables booked so there was no atmosphere in the restaurant. Admittedly it was a Monday night but there was not a vibrant buzz in the restaurant which meant quite a dull celebration. Food was fussy and heavy. Staff lovely and professional.

Over the years, we have been to La Trompette several times. We are always impressed with the food and the service. However, I always fail to understand why I should pay an extra £4 for one oyster, or £6 for a piece of seabass etc on a menu which already costs £57. I find this regrettable. Service was amazing again.

Something different from the all to similar fayre

Faultless lunch for two. Every dish was perfectly balanced and flavourful. We tried four different wines by the glass, all excellent choices if a little pricey; probably better buying a bottle. Service was quietly efficient and friendly. Best meal for ages.
