Absolutely adore La Trattoria. Amazing service (especially at breakfast), lovely fresh food with lots of choice, fab prices and a great atmosphere. Breakfast, lunch or dinner, you can't go wrong with La Trattoria!

Been a few times before but this was a last minute booking with dog. Food was great…. Staff fantastic and overall excellent evening. Looking forward to going again!

I took my daughter here as part of a shopping day treat and we weren’t disappointed. We had the excellent value £13 for two courses lunch time special. The soup was delicious and the mussels large and tasty. Our pizza and risotto didn’t disappoint either. The staff were friendly helpful and polite. We will definitely be returning.

A great Italian place in Helmsley. Quite a few options to choose from including the veggie ones. I really liked their prawn risotto. The service is great and it’s a baby-friendly place.

No plant based options in 2024? Old fashioned. They can give you a pizza without cheese and meat but don't have set vegan friendly options. Also it's a set menu so what about vegan friendly desserts and starters?

Delicious food, great menu, excellent service and friendly staff. Dog friendly and a lovely interior and great value. Highly recommend.

Felt really authentic. We started with the sharing antipasti (almost a meal in itself) followed by pasta. All washed down by a couple of glasses of white wine.

Got the 2 course for £13 for lunch pizza and tiramisu , it was faultless and not little portions , can't wait to return 😀

Friendly service. Good fresh food. The Tiramisu was excellent. The lunch menu is good value.

The beers were great, nice staff, food was fairly priced but not quite right for an Italian appetite ;) overall we enjoyed our experience in there.

We had a bad experience the first time, but but thought we would give La  Tattoria another go  Big mistake! A favourite of mine linguine vongole was inedible - tastless apart from vey strong lemon flavour. I sent it back and changed to penne with basil pesto and pine nuts. I was surprised to get a dish that was grey rather than green. The dish had been ruined by adding lots of cream and a ridiclous overpowering amount of pine nuts. My wife faired no better. With her garlic allergy many of the dishes she wanted she couldnt have because the gravy contained garlic. The said they were unable to make any gravy without garlic or even a mushroom sauce as alterative. My wife (a chef) was astonished. She instead ordered the sea bass with tomatoes, anchovies and capers. It arrived in swimming in a bowl of tomato sauce despite the menu not mentioning sauce. She asked for the excess sauce to be removed, which they did, but by then the dish was ruined The manager defensively said they always did it like that as if that made it right. Needless to say we didnt risk any desserts. Also the wine is quite expensive On the plus side their coffee is very good - I would just steer clear of the food. With so many issues (e.g. çant knock up an alternative sauce without garlic) I would be surprised if we were just unlucky on both our visits. There has to been fundemental issues in their kitchen. Highly disappointing and really surprised they have such a high google rating The 2 stars we awarded are for ambience, coffee and location.

First time here yesterday evening. Lovely staff and food, with a great 2 course special for only £13.00. Only live 25 minutes away so will definitely return. One(minor) gripe was £11.00 for glass of wine, but the wife said it was very nice as I was paying...again. :)

A dog friendly Italian with superb food and lovely friendly staff.

There were 4 of us and we all had something different and none of us were disappointed, really lovely meals.

Ate here on 2 occasions recently whilst staying in Helmsley for a few days. The food was excellent, lobster ravioli was particularly good and the staff were really friendly and efficient. Recommended!

Saw a recommendation, so decided to try while in the area. Was not disappointed.

I had a great carbonara here. Can't remember what anybody else had, but everybody enjoyed. The young man who waited on us was great. I'm not sure if it's normal, but we were sat on the top floor, and by the time we left, we were the only table without a dog present... maybe it's some new British thing, but it was just bizarre.

Came here for dinner following the good reviews left by others. We might order the wrong things, did not enjoy much our pizzas ( Finocchina and Parma), too salty to our taste though very generous in terms of portion and ingredients. Crispy squid is good. The service is fine, very attending, and good atmosphere. Told the waitress about the salt and hope they will give the feedback to the chef.

We both had a nice meal and it was good value for money.

Visit quite often as it is one of the better Italian restaurants I have visited. Great menu, reasonable price, friendly staff. Funghi pizza is absolutely gorgeous and is more than big enough to share between two people. 👍😊

Dined here twice last week. Had a really enjoyable meal on both occasions, couldn't fault the experience at all and dog friendly which was a bonus.

It had been a while between visits to the Restaurant, I felt there was a significant improvement to the Pizzas, which I have high standards for. The ingredients and flavours were great.

Excellent value lunch menu. Risotto is well cooked and tasty Sensible portions. Tiramisu is super.

Food was good, though a bit on the pricy side for what you got. Nothing exciting on the menu. Service was a bit poor, slow to notice you and all the staff seemed a bit grumpy.

Absolutely first class Italian restaurant, great food at reasonable prices, excellent service, and nice atmosphere. Great location in the centre of Helmsley (parking in the square right outside). They also serve breakfast, which we did not have as we were staying in a local hotel, but this was recommended to us as also first class (by a staff member at our hotel)! We would definitely eat here again if staying in or around Helmsley.

Had the meatball starter and ham and mushroom pizza both were delicious, my partner had the tomato soup and then meatballs as a main and he was also very impressed! We had the lunch time special (2 courses for £13) and thought they were very good portion sizes. The waiting staff were very pleasant and attentive. We'll definitely be back, thanks 😊

We had a lovely 3 course meal here. The sharing platter was amazing, and the main dish I had was really delicious and fresh (cod loin with prawns and samphire). It was a really good evening. Thanks 😊

Excellent food. Loved the seafood linguine. The squid wasn't the best I've had. Tiny pieces in a tasty crumb. Whole rings are much better. The wine was good too. Had lemon mousse and tiramisu. Large portions, beautifully served and very tasty. Would definitely go again. And free parking out the front.

Decent food nicely done. First appearances here are misleading as the ground floor looks very basic, more like a bar, but upstairs there's a whole new world.

We have just been to La Trattoria for the 3rd or 4th time and I am sorry to say it will be our last visit. My wife in her review has talked about the unbelievably rude responses of the waitresses when she told them that her meal was far too salty so that she could not eat it. And when we returned home we looked to see if anyone else had had similar issues and I was horrified to read the responses to those reviews by La Trattoria owners. It appears to me that if you are not satisfied with the service you receive from la Trattoria, as we were not this evening, the management of La Trattoria will not accept any criticisms and instead, in their responses to those criticisms, are rude and insulting and complain that they cannot rate their customers. I'm sorry that is your attitude but I am more sorry that my wife and I had a horrible experience in your restaurant.

I wanted to give zero stars, but this system didn't let me. We have been here in the past and it has been quite good, but we just had simple pizzas. This evening I was served a meal that was so horribly salty that I couldn't eat it. I mentioned this to the waitress. As we were leaving I asked the waitress if she had let the chef know and if there was any outcome. Then both she and another waitress argued back to me rudely in the middle of the restaurant. Also, reading other reviews we are disgusted by the rudeness and insulting attitude of the management in their responses. How awful! We won't be going back!

Great meal, lots of choice and good service.

Visited here for lunch and had the lunch menu. The meatballs for starter and risotto for main course were lovely. My husband chose the lemon mousse for dessert which he also enjoyed, but my tiramisu which looked amazing was a bit of a let down. There was hardly any sponge in it, so when you put your spoon into it, it quickly resembled a milkshake and I was unable to eat it with the teaspoon I'd been given. As it'd been served in a glass my husband joked, why don't you drink it, which I did rather than waste it. Overall a great little place and we would return just wish the tiramisu had been better.

Great place to visit. They do nice coffee (they also have Oat milk) I had the breakfast of avocado and egg on toast, really nice and will definitely be back.

Had there amazing hot beef and pork baguette with tea and coffee. So lucky to be able to get in very busy but recommend it. They made their own bread wonderful. Excellent value and great friendly staff

We were a walk in and the accommodated us. Staff were really lovely and attentive, good selection of wines and beers. Food was very authenticity Italian and very tasty

The best chicken and wild mushroom risotto ever. Staff very friendly and professional with their service even though they were very busy. Would definitely recommend this restaurant

Lovely old building. Food was ok. The mussels were good although a little less sauce would have allowed more of their flavors to show through. The tomatoes on the caprese salad were terrible but i blames myself for ordering anything with fresh tomatoes in February. 😊 The pizza's skimpy toppings and limpid crust made for an underwhelming experience. The waitsatff was pleasant but a different person every time someone arrived at the table. That in itself isn't a problem. Being told at 75 minutes that they needed to turn our table was. If anyone has ever been to Italy, you know Italians would rather die than rush you out of a restaurant. It left a very sour note to our overall dining experience - certainly not Italian. I wish we'd listened to reviews that showed other Italian restaurants nearby with better reviews.

Only had coffee, but is a nice place.

Good hearty Italian food in a nice ambient environment. The only issue and subsequently marked as only 4 stars was the ridiculous small tables designed for 2 people that were being used for 4 people in the Saturday night that we visited. See the photo but when 4 dishes / plates are hanging off the tables edge you know that the table is too small.!! We even had to stand the bootle of red wine on the floor and still we had a minor accident when one of the glasses of wine was spilt due to the ridiculously small table.!!

Helpful pre booking. Friendly welcome and attentive service. Food was tasty and generous. All 4 of us agreed that the meal was very enjoyable.

Went in at 13:30 & they close their orders at 14:30, we just walked in and before we could ask for a table, the man on the bar put up his hand & straight away shouted "No!" At us! I was with my 7 year old, and he was hungry, we said to the barman to not speak to us like that & he just shrugged his shoulders at us.. he could of said "hi, sorry we are no longer taking orders" but no he just put his hand up and shouted no at us Infront of my child! He has lost customers & I will be telling my friends about the bad customer service we recieved.

Disappointing. 30 minute wait from ordering breakfast to food arriving. (Drinks arrived promptly) 1 French toast with fruit, 1 avocado and poached eggs on toast, 1 full breakfast with poached eggs. All arrived on cold/lukewarm plates, so food went cold of course. Avocado toast and full breakfast were delicious, poached eggs excellently done. The French toast had been drenched in syrup. No mention of syrup on it on menu or when ordering. Absolutely destroyed the texture of the French toast as soggy mess due to syrup.

Had for starters, 5 mussels in tomatoe sauce/ puree, mussels where overcooked to the point that some of them where solid, the calazone was OK but over seasoned which made it salty not impressed so would not go back

During a 4 day holiday in the town, we had an evening meal here. Fantastic food, excellent service and very attentive and obliging staff. A truly great experience.

Food felt like a commercial chain restaurant. Service rushed. For me too much chilli in my fish dish - “That’s the way it is” I was told!

Great Italian in this fab little town. Freshly cooked food. Visited with a large group for a birthday meal all served at the same time to a great quality. My prawn ravioli was excellent!
