We just returned from an excellent meal at La Parrilla. As it's Wednesday, we opted to take advantage of the Early Bird special, which is available all day. My starter of portobello mushroom stuffed with bacon and cheese was superb. My husband's nachos were also quite good and he needed a fork to eat them. For our main courses, I ordered the burrito (£5 extra) and my husband had the enchiladas. I cut into the edge of the burrito and found a chunk of delicious chicken. At other restaurants that would give me the fillers. My burrito was so good that I ate the whole thing. And it's a lot of food. The enchiladas were also delicious and way too much to eat. I judge a Mexican restaurant by its beans and La Parrilla passed the test with flying colors. The only disappointments were the beer selection and the house wine. I would absolutely eat here again, though.

Smallest portions I have ever experienced in a Mexican. The lunch x 3 small plates for £16.95 consisted of One Portbello mushroom, 1 tiny bread basket ( the size of a Tunnock teacake) 3 chicken wings and tiny salad. The chicken Fajitas came out on a sizzling board that was not sizzling. Lukewarm food. Small portions. Middle aged male waiter disinterested, lacked personality and possessed the very basics in order taking knowledge. Cannot understand the good reviews at all.

Absolutely fantastic!! The food was so delicious. I had enchiladas and they were so full of flavour. The Mexican decor inside the restaurant is stunning and the atmosphere was great. The staff were so incredibly kind, welcoming, helpful and organised. I would highly recommend this restaurant!!

Staff were nice but this is the blandest Mexican food I've ever had in my life. Not authentic at all but wouldn't be a problem if the food was in anyway decent. Avoid, very disappointing.

I am Mexican, I came to try I was craving some tacos, I was disappointed with my life 😭 nothing traditional, strange flavors, sauce with vinegar, tacos that are not even tacos, on the menu they are kebabs, and food that is not at all authentic. It's not bad, it's just not nice to name a restaurant “Mexican” when it really isn't, it's more to have customers since Mexican cuisine is one of the best in the world, but here they don't live up to their name. I recommend doing more research and changing recipes, hiring Latin chefs, buying authentic products, which if possible in the UK requires more effort, but it is worth it.

Dubiously Mexican. We ordered some vegetarian nachos and they brought us a 'chilli' of cooked vegetables with tomato sauce (as if in 2024 there were no minced meats of plant origin!), a jar of guacamole and everything with a really artificial flavor. What can we say about the size of the plate... it looked like a children's menu. We then ordered stuffed chillies (which were not spicy and tasted like vinegar - they were preserved) and 3 pieces arrived (the dish costs £9!). Seriously, save you the bad drink (and taste...). (The size of the chilli plate was that of the nachos...)

While the restaurant didn't leave a lasting impression on me, it could be a good option for those seeking straightforward and familiar Mexican dishes. It's a place where you can enjoy a casual meal with standard Mexican flavors, though it may not be the destination for those looking for an extraordinary dining experience.

Came to liverpool for holidays,and i found this restaurant in city center,i checked the reviews and thought should be ok,was Terrorific,worst lunch i get in my life,me and my friend we ask for 2 starters and 2 mains,all of them were the absolutely same flavour,same sauces,the rice was disgusting,like a 10 years old kid cooked that rice,we ask for some napkins,and the waiter completly forget about,and we were the only table in the restaurant,after we leaved all of our food in the plate they didnt even ask if we liked the food or not,when it was the time to pay,the waiter ask for tips,and we say no,he didnt even ask why,if you are looking for a good restaurant,dont go here,you gonnna regret,and its really expensive

Catered for a gluten free vegetarian who can't eat chillies. Great view of passers by on all hallows eve too.

Portion size was small, prawn starter which cost £9 had 4 prawns on it and a little salad. Cocktails were advertised on their website as £6 each but when we got there they were £10 each. Food was okay and cocktails tasted nice, just misleading on the website price.

The food was decent, but I found the staff to be stressful and we didn't feel well. They had also added an extra charge to the bill.

Staff were quite rude and abrupt. Food was average and limited GF options, I had chili which they would t swap the tortilla for rice when I asked. We asked for sparkling water for the table they brought a 500ml bottle and one glass. They 'don't do' large bottles.

Big booking, we all know they can be a little bit chaotic at times. The staff were amazing, really attentive, and the food was fantastic as usual. The cocktails always the star of the show! Highly recommend! (Bold street La Parilla)

Best place for food on bold street

Thank you for making my daughter's birthday very special .My daughter who was 16 this week went with her 3 freinds for a meal there last night and was well looked after and your staff made a fuss over her and her freinds. Unfortunately I was not invited ,as it's uncool to let your parents come, but ok for me to pay😂but I have had the same experience many times as a regular. Again thank you

Came for dinner. The restaurant was a bit too dark and gloomy. Nachos were lovely but main was absolutely massive could’ve fed two people and wasted loads. Chicken and chorizo was overdone and dry. The dip tray was presented nicely but tasted like it was out of a jar rather than fresh e.g. runny salsa with no fresh bits, same with the guacamole. Took some home to eat but was inedible. Really disappointed:(

The food is not Mexican, we ordered a burrito and nothing to see. Neither did the music they played while we were in the place (it was varied with a lot of Spanish and flamenco music among them). The staff is good, attentive and attentive.

The best fajitas I've ever eaten. I wouldn't get the portobello mushroom starter as it's more like 3 flat mushrooms rather than a portobello mushroom with grated cheese on top. However, great service and the best fajitas I've ever eaten. A good range of food and drinks. We will definitely be back.

This was a very average experience. The food was ok and the kids meals were good value for money however the service was pretty poor. On arrival the waiter didn't offer a kids menu even though we had two children with us. Thankfully I'd seen the menu beforehand online so I knew they offered one. I ordered tapas which arrived at the same time as my kids starters so it was cold by the time their mains arrived. The chips were overcooked and the kids meals were way too spicy. The tapas is pretty expensive for such small portions. It was pretty busy but everything seemed like too much effort for the waiters/waitresses and keep an eye out as they automatically add service charge to your bill.

Large portions but not particularly Mexican

Food here is amazing. Really authentic mexican food full of flavour. What I really liked is that there is loads of options for vegetarians. The atmosphere is lovely, we were sat outside, which was perfect for the lovely weather. The location is fantastic. Service was good, but a little slow, but we could see the waiter was quite busy. Would definitely recommend coming here, fantastic food and great value.

Went midweek evening time. It was dark dingy with rickety sticky tables that we had to ask the waiter to fix. Had to ask repeatedly for water. Ordered cocktails that were watery and had hardly any alcohol. Not cheap at nearly £10 each! Food was mediocre I had a steak and there was a huge supplement for this on top of the early evening special price. Steak itself was ok cooked well but the rest was yuck! Over spiced soggy chips and some chopped up kind of veg that was passed off as a salad. Previously visited the South Road branch and enjoyed. But this was seriously disappointing. Felt like I needed a shower when I left yuck!

Absolutely terrible restaurant. Ordered a steak Mexican dish tasted and looked like I was eating leather in a bowl of canned veg and gravy. Was tempted to walk it back to the kitchen and make them try it for their opinion. In the running for the worst meal I've ever had in my life especially considering the price. All dishes are £20+ and belong in the bin. Not only that but we waited 1.5 hours for all of the food. The reviews on here have to be fake! Avoid at all costs!!

Bland food, non-existent service (at no point did anyone come to check on us) and a very dead atmosphere. I wouldn't go again.

Don't go there not only is the food far far too expensive for what it is the drinks are terrible sangria and the cocktail I had was like watered down fruit juice so so disappointed 😞.

La parrilla has a warm, cosy, and relaxed feel, We had the chilli in a taco basket, which came quickly and was very nice, and we had a beer each, no desserts The cost was app' £50.

Was a great stop off for us as a family 3 adults had 3small and 3 large from the tapas 2 kids meals and side each for the smalls. Was more than happy with the portions sizes and the chilli cheese balls some of best I’ve had yet! Could have come back if we had more time but defo will be visiting again.

Food was nice - flavours were okay I wouldn't say it is authentic cuisine but it definitely settles your cravings for mexican food. The everest nachos are very good, flavours were very balanced. Cocktails were very expensive in my opinion but very nice if you are looking to just try 1.

During our recent visit to Liverpool, we decided on giving this place a try. The website had the early bird menu available between 4.00pm - 7.00pm so we got there at 6.15. We had a look at the restaurant menu which said the early bird menu was 12.00 - 6.00pm. We decided to stay as we really fancied some Mexican food. Unfortunately, despite the large portion sizes, the food was lacking in authenticity. Quite mild and bland to be honest. Not somewhere we will be going back to unfortunately.

Good food, although not 100% authentic. I ordered taquitos and was served a chimichanga. The flavors were good anyhow.

My wife and I went here for a late lunch, and we loved it. The staff were very welcoming, the food was delicious, and the atmosphere in the restaurant was fun with the upbeat music and Mexican decor. The portions were so big, we had to get some of our main meals boxed up to take home. Just reheated them and ate them, and they were just as delicious as before.

Pretty underwhelming mexican food, it does state on their menu that all of their food is made mild, so if you like any spice you have to say.... Still, I ordered the "mexican chicken wings" and I'd be surprised if they even seasoned them with salt? The salad that came with them was basic shredded iceberg lettuce and some bell peppers, and a stodgy lump of yellow rice, for £15.95. I did ask for some spicy sauce after trying the wings, and they brought me some nice salsa with fresh chillis but apart from that, I wouldn't say it's anything to write home about and I definitely won't be trying it again.

Took my daughter here for her birthday and the chicken fajitas were disgusting! She took one bite and spat it out, she didn’t want me to make a fuss as it was her birthday so we asked them to wrap the mains up to go as the starters had filled us up. I couldn’t eat mine either the chicken had a disgusting taste! The salsa and sour cream were disgusting too, avoid!!

I’m going to try and be fair as I can with this review but it’s not great. The main thing that went wrong is due to the level of service being so poor, we were given beef enchiladas even though we ordered VEGETARIAN enchiladas. Now the above is the biggest one and a VERY bad one. Just off the back of that I wouldn’t recommend. They did give us the whole bill off and we swiftly left. But that doesn’t make up for the fact we ate meat as a veg couple. Other things - I asked for their watermelon daiquiri. They gave me a strawberry daiquiri. Just shows their low level of service. Their food was very bland and the guacamole as well as other parts were not fresh. The venue itself and the cocktails were nice but overall I would say not worth it.

Came on a Saturday evening about 5pm. Place was busy but had tables available. Service was great and food came quick. Quality of the food was amazing, proper authentic Mexican and big portions. Lovely atmosphere and not too expensive.

Authentic Mexican Restaurant. We spontaneously went Into this restaurant when going to grab dinner. We got sat down really quickly and the staff were nice. After we ordered the restaurant go abit more busy and I saw they had to turn people away who weren't booked. Though we then found it was a long wait untill our food came out reaching over 45 minutes, we didn't mind at the time as we were happy catching up with friends. Though once food came we had mixed reviews on them we found some foods were better portioned for the price than others and all together they all tasted good. The drinks were well priced though with a good selection of soft drinks, spirts and cocktails.

Basic basic "Mexican" food cooked by indians

If actually say 3.5, but no halves on google. Very accommodating staff, knew when to come round and didn't try and force anything on us. Food was good, nothing more/less to say. I had the swordfish which honestly was similar to cod, but it was cooked great, fantastic sauce. Drinks may require a mortgage to afford (£4 for a coke...??) Atmosphere was nice. Could do with more non-dining space such as loos (only 2 for the entire upper floor) and seats at the bar as if you're not sitting at your table, you may feel you're getting rushed.

Decent place doesn't do the early evening menu in December but a 'Christmas Menu' which is basically the early evening at a more expensive price. But twenty quid for two courses is still decent. Enjoyed our visit and am likely to return.

All like mush … just warm and all cooked in the microwave Cold in the middle Asked for rice Came out clumped in a ball full of raw onion 🧅 Desert was again microwaved the heaviest sticky toffee pudding on earth Awful … left most of it I will never go here again Feel physically sick 🤢

Basic Mexican Food. La Parrilla is located in the middle of Bold Street and has been in Liverpool for a number of years and I finally decided to try it for lunch with my friends. I went on a Sunday afternoon and they offer an ‘early bird menu’ which runs between 12pm-6pm on a Sunday. This offer consists of a starter and a main course from a selected set of dishes on the menu for £15.95. For certain items in this offer you need to pay an additional cost. I ordered the ‘Authentic Mini Basket’ for my starter and the ‘Enchiladas’ as my main. The Mini Basket is true to its name, it tasted nice but nothing particularly stood out to me with this dish. For the Enchiladas I ordered spicy chicken but it didn’t taste spicy, if anything very mildly spicy considering it’s Mexican. I was a bit disappointed with the enchiladas but the chicken was nice and tender. Overall, the service was good and the food wasn’t bad but not outstanding in any way. I probably won’t come here often as the flavours seem to be lacking.
