Don't waste your time ordering shawarma from here. They advertise in their menu that they don't put onions, tomatoes etc in the shawarma but instead they pack it with cabbage and you have very little chicken in the shawarma. Nice way to cut costs..!!

We dined here on a busy Saturday night. Staff were excellent, very attentive. Lots of variety on the menu and shared dishes made it possible to try new things. Very good value for money.

Had a family Evening here just before Xmas, we all really enjoyed it, can’t wait to go back next week. Only thing we all found don’t buy the cocktails 🍹 so exspenive. Staff all friendly and did not wait long for our food 🥘.

Really great food and attentive staff. The owner is on the ball with a great personality. The restaurant has just been re-decorated to a high standard. Worth the visit...

Had a lovely meal here,i really have to say first class food,and service and they serve Efes beer which is proper stuff.We had 3 courses and everything was on point!

Met up with a friend as I was staying with my parents.The staff were amazing.Iam disabled they took me in the back exit.The food was amazing very big portions. Attentive staff.The young waitress was lovely. Overall great restaurant.

I looked this up online and it said "Book online and we will give you a discount", so I booked online, received a confirmation email, but no discount code. We arrived and were taken to a table. I said to the waiter "I booked online and it said I would get a discount but I didn't receive anything", He just walked off without saying anything, I assumed he didn't speak english and had gone to fetch an english-speaking colleague but nobody appeared. Nobody came to take our order (we were the only ones in the place) so I went down the front to ask another person if we could place our order. I again said "I booked online and it said I would get a discount but I didn't receive anything" and again I was ignored. Finally a waiter came to take our order. Again I said "I booked online and it said I would get a discount but I didn't receive anything", he told me there was new management, I replied that I had only booked that morning so there can't be new management since then! he said he would sort something out but nothing was done and we didn't get a discount so that was really disappointing. We decided to order a meze of hot starters for our lunch and thought the mixed plate for 2 sounded good value at £15.95 for 5 dishes as the starters were all £4.50-£5.50 so that selection would have been £23.95. We also ordered some extra starters but were disappointed they didn't have octopus. When the dishes arrived, we were again disappointed as the mixed starters only had 2 of each item, so very poor value as there should have been 4 and having only half of each one would have cost £11.97 but we paid £15.95!!!! Also we paid £5.50 for 4 meatballs that were the size of marbles!!!! The "turkish sausage" was a slice of bacon grill out of a tin. The food was all tasty but VERY SMALL PORTIONS and the mixed plate was extremely poor value and I feel thats a bit of a con. Also early on in the meal music suddenly blasted from the speaker above us so loudly that it nearly burst our eardrums. My parents both wear hearing aids so this was excruciating for them until it was turned off again. We were all still a bit hungry due to the small portions. I can't comment on the main dishes as we only had a selection of 9 starters, which should have been ample for 3 people. The stuffed aubergine starter states on the menu "a whole stuffed aubergine" but we only got HALF of a very tiny aubergine. So I feel very cheated. This small lunch cost £38 and we didn't get the promised discount. We will not be returning. Oh and there was no toilet paper in 2 of the 3 ladies loos and when I told the waited he was totally unconcerned and unapologetic.

My wife and I went to this Turkish local restaurant 2 weeks ago to try out the 2 course lunch menu. I enjoyed Feta Cheese Pastry followed by Lamb Shish kebab. Both were very nice. The waiter had been brought in from another restaurant to help. Not sure why, because there were 6 staff in the place and just 2 couples dining. Will go again just to see if the food is still up to scratch.

5 of us dined this evening! Very young inexperienced staff waiting on tables. One lad in jeans. White shirts were grey and grubby looking! Food was really salty. Vegetarian falafel was hard with uncooked centre. Not sure who was in charge. We asked to slightly change one dish on the mezze for 2 and they wouldn’t. Not value for money at all. Plant on top round table needs more ceiling space to grow. No atmosphere and we won’t be going back!

We've eaten here a few times now and it's always a pleasure - excellent, tasty, freshly prepared food and a nice selection of drinks. The mixed chicken and lamb kebab is tender and full of flavour. Always a friendly and personable service. The restaurant has a nice ambiance and is nicely decorated. A great addition to the area!

Went for our wedding anniversary. The staff were friendly and professional. The food was very delicious. The menu was varied and there are plenty of dishes I hope to try in the future.

I rarely leave reviews but this time I had to. My husband and I went for an early dinner for the first time tonight and the welcome, food and service were all fantastic. The staff could not have done enough for us - an incredibly warm welcome and the food was fresh, homemade and tasted fantastic. We will definitely be back and will spread the word. A great addition to Halstead. Thank you!

Really nice lamb cooked perfectly with complimentary salad and starter. Very nice evening out and no complaints.

Went here for Easter lunch and had a 2 course meal which was not expensive at all. I would defiantly recommend visiting for lunch/dinner, very yummy!

This was a lovely meal out for 6 of us. For starters, we ordered Hot Mezzes and breads between 4 adults and 2 children which were fantastic and had enough variety to suit everyone.

Visited for a katch up with friends fee months ago and had a good experience.

This is the first time we’ve been to this restaurant. We spend a lot of time in Turkey in the summer and we miss it dreadfully in the winter, so as a treat, my son booked for Mother’s Day. The service was good, food excellent and ambiance good too. Our son had the lamb shank, our daughter the Tavuk.Şiş and my husband and I shared the Chefs special for two. A plate full of delicious grilled meats with bulgar and rice served with a trio of side salads.

Very impressed with the high quality of service and food we received. The waitress that served is was nothing but friendly and helpful.

Food was very good, and even though I have sampled tenderer lamb elsewhere, it was still very nice. Staff are excellent and portions are generous. Prices are reasonable too as Turkish restaurants in the provinces can be well over priced, and thats if you can find one. A lively night out with friends.

We did the Sunday lunch time deal which is two courses for £8.95 per person as advertised outside on the board. We enjoyed the meal and staff were very accomodating but when we come to pay. They charged us the full price for the food (which was double the deal price). I disputed this politely with the staff and they said the deal was only valid on a Monday. I questioned this and said we only come here as the sign outside said the deal was on today. The manager/chef then come out and said that he can’t give us the deal price as it has something to do with the tills. We are very disappointed that we were mislead and it was not resolved, resulting is us paying £40 for two £8.95 meals and a coke.

Chose this restaurant purely as we walked past. A wonderful,spacious, clean and friendly restaurant. Amazing service....... The food is incredible!

A fantastic meal, full of subtle flavours, freshly cooked and beautifully presented. Topped off by Turkish tea and Turkish Delight ‘on the house’. Would like to return and try out other dishes. Very friendly and welcoming staff. If you haven’t been yet, make it next on your list - as the manager promised me, “You won’t be disappointed.” He was right.

Seriously had the most lovely night tonight... First class service - Remembered myself and my Auntie from a previous visit. Treated us like special guests. Fabulous food, wonderful Turkish white wine and amazing Turkish coffee. Delicious! Definitely our new favourite place to go!!

We had a fantastic takeaway from here, the food was amazing. Loved every bit of it. The mixed grill was very well cooked and the hummus was very fresh.

We had a great feast here to take away we ordered mixed grills lamb chips and delicious side dishes everybody loved it .

Nice food, but a shame the staff let the place down.cancelled my reservation, genuine mistake on there part I believe, but had the audacity to blame it on me and couldn’t even apologise for their mistake! Whilst being sorted a table and waiting in the door way, we was told we could have a drink at the bar, but yet the girl behind the bar decided to not to answer us, wether she spoke or English or not do not know, but no attempt made to answer.

Excellent dinner. Good selection, cooked from fresh , tasty and very succulent. Good sevice reasonably priced. Will definitely return.

Meal out with friends. The table was ready for when we arrived and were able to offer drinks. Decent cocktail menu made fresh. The service was pretty good and the food was lovey. Had the cold selection for starter which was a bit strange and would probably not have again. The main was fantastic. Shared a meat grill and the amount of food was more than enough and was brilliant.

Lovely food , yummy cocktails , great service and very friendly staff! Main courses a tad overpriced maybe, but overall wonderful! Will definitely be back! X

First time I’ve visited this restaurant hadn’t booked as spur of the moment decision.

First time here for the four of us... staff very helpful and friendly.. nice and clean place, food was amazing... you got free bread which was still warm with various dips... garlic mushroom really tasty... I had lamb shish with rice nice and tasty hubby had steak it was a huge piece! chicken and moussaka also tasty. dessert was ice cream flake, drink prices were really good as well.

Just had a lovely family meal out! Food was absolutely delicious! Staff are super friendly and couldn’t be more helpful, will definitely be returning.

Not very much to say, service was bang on, food was absolutely amazing. Just as authentic as the real deal (been to turkey every year for 8 years) can't wait to go again. Easily the best restaurant in the town now!

Had a fantastic meal last night and the service was so good. Very friendly staff. There was a birthday last night in the restaurant and all the staff came out to sing to the birthday girl.

Welcome to Halstead La Mezze, a fantastic authentic Turkish restaurant. Very nice food, service a little slow but its new so obviously there are gong to be teething issues. All in all probably the best restaurant in the Town. T-bone is very nice and so is the Lamb Shank.

Not sure any of the service could have been worse if they tried.

Very good Turkish food from the grill. Not entirely sure why so many meals came with mashed potatoes? But all very well cooked, will return!

Having arrived at La Mezze, the restaurant itself was nicely decorated, although I feel there were to many tables in the room and needed to be set out better, as they were to close together and two person tables were set next to larger group tables, which on our night, there was a rather loud group sitting right behind us, we couldn’t hear ourselves, perhaps seat the groups together and the couples in another area, plus not so close together, so the waiting staff can get round the table easily without leaning into the neighbouring table, I know the more tables you cram in the more money you make, but it wasn’t comfortable, or an enjoyable atmosphere, the food was nice, although I have had better in turkey (sorry), the staff were friendly but very rushed and we waited for our bill for quite a while, we would like to return, but not in the way it is currently set out, I know you haven’t been open long and you will still have some teething problems to deal with

Everyone was friendly and attentive. The food was the best Turkish food I have eaten in this country and as good as in Turkey. Every course was really tasty and full of flavour. Well presented too. Will definitely be back and recommending to friends and family. Thank you La Mezze.
