Found this gem by chance. Now our go to place of choice. Rose, the most excellent hostess; welcoming, friendly, putting the customer at the core at all times. Most knowledgible and informative made us feel like vips. Nothing was too much trouble. Professional from start to finish. Food freshly cooked, generous portions, delicious beyond belief. It was great value for money and impeccable. The turkish wine stands out as better than most other well known brands. We cant wait to return again as we know the standard is 5 star on every level. Thank you.

Great food, incredible service and you feel part of the family when you’re welcomed. Couldn’t recommend any more in fairness, we’ve eaten there over a dozen times and each time has been consistently delicious with high quality meats used.

Such a lovely evening, there was live music and staff go above and beyond. They were all friendly and attentive. The food was stunning, really delicious and had such a variety of choices. The portion sizes were huge, I can’t wait to go back again.

We’ve been to The Shiish twice now and both times we’ve had a brilliant time. The service is warm and friendly, the prices are fair, and the food is superb and freshly cooked. We would both wholeheartedly recommend it.

In all honesty, we haven’t actually eaten here (yet!) but wanted to leave a review based on our experience tonight. We walked past this evening with our two children whilst trick or treating. A kind woman (sorry, didn’t catch any names!) beckoned us in from the window and gave our children lollipops and sweets. They were incredibly sweet, interacted with them both and seemed genuinely kind and generous. The atmosphere within the restaurant was lovely and warm- will 100% return as customers!

Great restaurant! Lovely atmosphere, good quality food, very welcoming staff. Grownups and children had a lovely evening. Dessert and Turkish coffee was the cherry on top! We will visit again! Keep up great work!

The food here is amazing! The staff are nice. The service is good. The decor is a bit stiff & formal. It would be more fun if it had a better playlist & some more fun injected into the decor through colour & pattern. The prices are a bit on the steep side & there is not enough choice of Turkish inspired desserts. It’s a pity because I love this place & wish I could visit more often but it’s just too expensive. I’ve been a few times as I live close by but I don’t ever remember seeing any specials that are a great deal. A tasting menu would be a great idea!

It was fine but felt our mains came right after we had the starters. We are usually asked if we would like a break before the mains so it felt like we were being hurried out.

The food was great, large portion sizes. Staff were lovely and very attentive. Had a lovely evening.

We rode over to halsted from Peterborough for the night and spotted The Shiish on the way in and we’re glad we tried it. Really nice bread and dips to start, followed by the special Shish for 2. Lovely. Really nice and loads for 2 people. Had a dessert to finished which was amazing.

Wow what an amazing evening, it was our first time to this restaurant and we were not disappointed..we were there celebrating my husband Paul 50th Birthday not only was the food and service excellent the hospitality was fantastic totally made the birthday celebrations even more special 😀

Amazed by this place, I will be going back. A great family atmosphere from the staff. Best garlic mushrooms I've had out of home. The only thing is that it is in town so consider parking. They do take away, too. I nearly got some for the next day. Proper bbq taste

We have eaten here a number of times and are always made to feel really welcome. The food is of a consistently high standard. Service is first rate and we have got to know the proprieters and staff really well.

Amazing people with amazing food. So generous with the portion sizes as well as its great value for money. The staff are lovely, they always looks after us when we come for takeaway. Just a wonderful place, as I am sure the people in Halstead are lucky to have an amazing restaurant with amazing people. Would definitely recommend.

We ordered a takeaway for 10 people on Sunday. The food was delicious, enjoyed by all. The staff were really accommodating and cannot fault our experience!

OK, I promised I would leave a review... everyone said I wouldn't because I was quite drunk... Bako and the team are amazing ^_^ The food is spot on. The service and the team are incredible and the frank sinatra cover band was perfect with an evenings meal. There aren't many restaraunts in Halstead... Had a fantastic night at the tribute Ed sheeran night, food was excellent, fresh and came out fast considering the amount of people dining. Staff were wonderful and even moved us to more central seat to watch/listen to the entertainment. Will absolutley return and highly recommend you try this restraunt! 5 stars all day

Very nice food. Lots of it! Very friendly staff. lovely place! Will definitely recommend and, return! AND, a young couple could not get a cab back to their accomodation so, the owner gave them a lift.

It was so good we came back the next night! Beautiful food cooked with love and served with the same. Good quality taste filled food, substantial portions and prompt service. Thank you to the staff for making us feel welcome and really looking after us. Thanks also to Nigel for our Friday night entertainment. If you are looking for an excellent experience then this is the place.

Me and my hubby decided to give this place another go for a date night! The food was delicious but we was a little disappointed that the table's had no table clothes not even place matts to make it look a little bit nice... Especially in the evenings 😐 we would definitely get a takeaway though 😋😋😋

Really enjoyable meal with generous proportions. Had starter dips and bread on the house. Friendly and efficient staff. A little pricey but on the whole a pleasant experience and would visit again.

We've booked a table for 7 people on Friday night. Very stylish inside with live music. The food was absolutely delicious and well prepared. The staff were professional and welcoming. Mezes and mixed kebab were amazingly delicious. The portions were very generous and kids loved the mocktails ;) We will come back again and recommend it 100%

Visited on a busy Saturday night. Staff very friendly and welcoming. You could tell it was a family run business The food was delicious and very fresh. We were even given some celebratory cake to take away after they found out it was my birthday. Definitely worth a visit

Not good to wait and hour and a half for food staff great but appears they are reliant on customers drinking turning heating up and leaving large parties till end of service

This was the the first time we had visited the Shish bar and grill and cannot fault it at all for quality of food ,very freshly cooked and of a very high quality The staff were very attentive and helpful nothing was too much trouble,the atmosphere due to the live music was friendly and pleasant,will happily return again at a later date ,I recommend without a doubt

Just got back from having a superb meal at The Shiish. Couldn't fault anything. The service was so genuinely warm, professional and brilliantly. I have There wasn't one of the 6 of us that wasn't full and or satisfied. Lamb chops cooked to perfection, so tasty and succulent. Sea bass, cooked whole, but beautiful done. Coukd go on. But just to say definitely be going back, without down. Thank you all for a fantastic meal

Wow, what a great restaurant. I hadn't realised how big it is. You can only see the takeaway from the road. Just popped in by chance for a bite to eat after work so hadn't booked a table. Megan and staff were very welcoming. Very busy restaurant. Food is lovely and freshly cooked - delicious!! Live entertainment Friday and Saturday. Fantastic place.

We ended up booking ourselves a table here last minute on recommendation from the landlord of The Dog Inn, Richard (See the review) and what a brilliant recommendation it was! From the entertainment duo rocking the set, to the absolutely mindblowing authentic Turkish cuisine it was a top notch experience for myself and my partner! But I want to take a moment to state the heart of this experience was the staff. The people that own and run this establishment were simply so welcoming and kind, we felt like we were at a friends house! The kitchen staff and wait staff were dancing to the entertainments rendition of a Kings of Leon song and pumped the vibe in the room up through the roof! It took me ages to finish my chicken Kofte because I was either too busy singing or laughing! The food, the staff, the passion and warmness of this establishment sets it aside for me and is part of the reason I shall be coming back to this beautiful little town. Bravo to the owners here, the staff seem so happy to be at work, that says a lot.

Food is lovely, service is great. Band is horrendous, very loud, not enjoyable at all.

Had lunch here on Sunday and had a really lovely meal. Unfortunately the fire alarm went off a few times, there was a power cut for around 30 seconds and the air con was letting out freezing cold air! Although the staff were friendly, i had to ask them for a dessert menu and our drinks again as they forgot to bring them. Would try dining here again but go on a different day.

We booked a table for 7 people on a Saturday night. It gets VERY busy here so book well in advance to avoid disappointment. The Saturday we went on had a live duo playing & it was brilliant. The food was beyond awesome with great portions & service. Everything took a bit of time to come out of the kitchen BUT it's well worth the wait, but thats what you get with a busy popular restaurant! The staff were lovely and very attentive and we had one of the best nights out in ages. Thanks Megan & staff

Service is very very slow, so no good for a bite to eat rushtea, but assuming it's due to how busy it gets. Take away is always spot on. Staff are lovely and friendly
