Stumbled across this place. What’s not to love about it? Beautiful fresh salads, generous portions, very reasonable prices and friendly service. And the cakes? Just amazing.

Charming place with inexpensive food - sat by kitchen & looked in - absolutely spotless, must be hard work keeping the place that clean . Clean but not with out character ..

I had a very pleasant surprise when I happened on this place quite by accident today. It looked so appealing that I ventured in to view more closely the fabulous display of gateaux on offer (the word cake doesn’t really do them justice..think Patisserie Valerie - only better). There’s plenty of other interesting and appetising lunchtime fare too, including healthy salads..you can even have a glass of wine. La Belle Epoche is an absolute asset to Clifton Street, a real standout cafe/brasserie that really ‘lifts’ itself to another level. It’s stylish, tastefully and eclectically decorated and deserves to succeed. The staff are very gracious and the cakes definitely have the wow factor! Pay La Belle Epoche a visit and imagine you’re on the ‘left bank’ in Paris..

This place is fantastic. I've been here a few times now and whether you want a coffee and some of the biggest and best slices of cake you can imagine or a night cap which includeds a really good variety of drinks this is your place. All very affordable! It's a very cool space and lots of thought has gone into the design. The chairs are all old cinema seats from Poland and the tables are old sewing tables from the Czech Republic. I held a fundraising quiz here and the staff couldn't be more helpful and accommodating. If you're near I would definitely recommend popping in.

I've passed La Belle Epoque a few times and only recently ventured in. What a brilliant idea that was - this place is decked out with beautiful decor, it has really welcoming staff and a great atmosphere. It's a great place to take your laptop and catch up with work or perfect for dates and meetings. Here's the best part - I have never tried coffee made so well and so consistently good.. the polish bar manager (Jakub?) is a gem and will make sure to take care or you. New local and one of my favourite places to go !

Stumbled on La Belle Epoque by accident. Staying in Roath in an Airbnb, took a walk, looking for somewhere to have a night cap.Found La Belle Epoch, amazing atmosphere, wonderful welcome from the staff. Have never encountered a bar where young men call in just for an ice cream, The display of pastries on offer were incredible, people were popping in all the time to buy cakes. The young Polish man behind the bar loved to juggle with the glasses. The furnishing has to be mentioned, the seating is from old cinema seats from Poland, and the tables are all reclaimed sewing machine treadles. As well as cakes there were rolls etc,and various meals were up on the board. Well worth a visit.

Second visit here with my daughter and grandchildren. Really love the cinema seats and tables converted from sewing machines - very quirky! Not the cheapest place for coffee and a cake but they are delicious, and you will be spoilt for choice of which one to have. Definitely recommend a visit.

We popped in to grab a quick coffee and beer on Saturday. The staff are so friendly and welcoming, there are lots of different drinks/cakes and food on offer and set in beautiful surroundings. The staff were also kind enough to tell us about their plight getting the perfect chairs (beautiful old cinema chairs from Poland) full of history, such a romantic idea. If you are nearby you should definitely pop in!

Popped in with my daughter to kill some time when her tyres were being sorted, so glad we did! Great coffee with a stunning look and feel to the place. A stunning selection of deserts, my daughter "needed" to try a piece of apple pie, almost big enough for both of us, gorgeous and a real treat.

This café sits on the end of Clifton street at the junction with Broadway. It has been renovated to an extremely high standard with good use of reclaimed timber and old cinema/theatre seats. Large windows make the interior light and also a good place to watch the world go by. It is owned by the Polish supermarket next door and as such benefits from an amazing selection of Polish cakes and other produce. On the day we went we just wanted coffee and cake but I know from speaking to the owner he is looking to increase food options, so would welcome suggestions if you go in. Staff are very friendly and professional. Toilets are easily accessible, However there is only a urinal in the Gents.

Nice relaxed, quiet venue but quite expensive for small portions given. Ok for coffee+ cake or Panini with mate but be prepared for price.

We booked here after seeing the excellent reviews on Google and were not disappointed. The food and service was amazing particularly the Moroccan food! Moroccan tea was served to us on the house as we chose our meals and was also delicious! Don’t be put off from the decor as this is a special little gem and we will definitely be returning!
