Kym's - Chinese Restaurant in City of London, Westminster

Beautiful interior design. A place where you get full and satisfied enough by just looking up and enjoying the atmosphere. Went here for my birthday last year and we definitely made the right choice. Its a funny asian fusion menu where its fried rice with truffle shavings... Not a combo you would expect but the flavours do work, I wouldn't say its the best pairing I do enjoy both flavours independently. From what I cna remember... The soft shell crabs were normal but they did offer wagyu dishes which is always a delight.

After almost 5 visits I decided I had to leave a review about Kym’s, having worked around the corner I’d seen the stunning restaurant and fallen in love with the decor. However, the decor is just the start. Kym’s will make you fall head over heels from the moment you step into the door, to the first bite of food and the amazing and perfectly crafted cocktails. If I could go back every week I definitely would, I have been using birthdays, anniversaries as an excuse to head back and luckily it’s just around the corner from my office. For a unique experience, full of flavour this is the restaurant that you want to be at. I would definitely recommend the three treasures dish but most specifically the pork char Sui or the slow poached chicken. The best sauces are the honey mustard or honey soy, I disliked the ginger relish as ithad a sour tinge to it.

Lunch here was a disappointment. A. Wong, Kym's sister restaurant in Vicria, is one of my favourite London restaurants: expecting a similar experience I found Kym's less than compelling. It is expensive, perphas not surprising given its location in the Bloomberg Arcade, and its menu has nothing of the excitement of its older sister.

Great restaurant with particularly excellent service - Karla rocks! Will definitely be coming back. Three treasures was delicious. Good selection of beers too, loved Kernel’s Pale Ale.

Would not recommend. The food was pretty bland, service was okay but after we paid we realised that they’d charged for drinks we hadn’t consumed including gin and coke!!!

I’ve been to Kym’s and ordered from the A la carte menu, and couldn’t fault it. Visited on a Saturday for the bottomless lobster brunch and was disappointed. Part of the menu is a rice bowl with ‘little treasures’, which is varying meats. We were given a bowl which was very small between 3 of us, but didn’t question this as thought that must be all you received. The waiter then came over and apologised and said we should have been given a larger sharing bowl, as the one we had received was for 1 person. So we then expected him to say “I’ll bring the larger bowl now”, but he just said sorry, with no action to rectify! So we then asked if we could have the bigger bowl, and he said he would have to check with the manager! Eventually they brought us 1 more small individual bowl, so still not the sharing one. The bottomless brunch is for 2 hours. Usually on most of the brunches I have experienced, the serving team will advise about 5 mins before your time ends, that this is final top up. The waiter at Kyms came over to us 30 mins before the end and advised that the next top up would our last. Again we questioned this and he did do us one final top up nearer the end of the 2 hours, but we had to keep asking. All in all, the service wasn’t great. I do like this place but would only come back if ordering from a la carte menu, I don’t think the bottomless is worth it here.

Outstanding food and great menu selections. Atmosphere and decor were very stylish and elegant. Every dish was tasty and wondefully presented. My only criticism is that the service was slower than what I expected. Were it not for a business lunch, I would not have been in a hurry and would not have noticed the slower-than-what-expected service. But for that price, I would have expected the wait staff to be more on the ball and more proactive. It took me a while for a waiter to come take our order and took even longer to get our bill in the end. If not for this, I would have gladly given 5 stars.

What a find. We went on the off chance and were given a great table. The service was prompt and efficient and the food was excellent. We would particularly recommend the Cantonese belly pork.

Great place for an evening catch up with family and friends. Nice decor, reasonably priced, very tasty food and friendly staff. Lovely sharing dishes and the cheese wantons, and Iberian pork in particular are a must!

Booked in for the Chinese New Year set menu and was beyond disappointed. Food lacked any flavour or Chinese authenticity. Ordered the ‘three treasures’ dish comprising of crispy pork, char Sui and soy sauce chicken - dry and not crispy whatsoever. Noodles were the worst I have ever tasted. Sea bass came lukewarm. The wok fried Pak Choi was just a soggy bowl of mushy greens. Dessert was esssntially store bought ice cream slapped on top of a tinned pear and a few lychees. Extremely overpriced, bordering extortionate. Poor quality food. You are better off ordering from your local Chinese takeaway or taking a trip down China Town. Only saving grace was the decor and friendly host. A bland experience.

I was taken here in a work context and was really impressed. A nice bar area for a drink before the meal, this restaurant has an excellent ambience and stunning decor, with a cherry tree and red lantern centrepiece. The food was excellent - particularly enjoyed the saliva chicken (sounds awful, tastes great), and the crispy duck was a real highlight. Strongly recommended.

Went to Kym’s again after a long absence. We were dry for January so were not able to enjoy the nice cocktails they dream up. Wanted to try the mocktails but 2 of the 4 were out of stock due to lack of certain ingredients so we tried the other drinks. Overall the food was again good, and the service excellent despite being seated in the furthest away seat. We hoped for the prawn skewers which they were famous for but the menu had changed. Instead we have a really delicious sweet and sour cauliflower, along with the yummy rice cracker and interesting spring roll. All was very good and well presented. We also ordered the roasted meats as this is something sorely lacking in the City – enjoying the crispy bbq pork (yummy, with a very nice honey mustard sauce) and the poached chicken (again delicious with a ginger relish which is still so incredibly addictive – we asked for an extra serving of the sauce). The service was friendly and helpful with staff who know the food and are great at giving guidance and suggestions (not to use but to the table next to us). It is a lovely place for an after work dinner and/or drinks, and gives your tastebuds a proper Chinese treat in the depths of the City. The atmosphere is interesting with the cherry blossom tree counterbalancing the modern décor. We were there right before Chinese New Years so the red lanterns were all around and added to the ambiance. Pricing is not cheap as it is a premium location, but for such amazing tastes, we were ok to manage it. It came out to £80 for two having the above dishes, and a mocktail. I will come back again – just for the ginger relish!

Remarkably good Chinese food. A bit on the pricy side but the flavors were each distinctive, ample sized portions. Cocktails were good - heavy on the alcohol! Service was a bit spotty.

Alone, cold & midweek, as well as hungry- this was like an oasis. Friendly service, lovely ambiance, fresh food, freshly cooked & good wine. What more do you want? Not too expensive either. More roomy than A Wong's. A modern Chinese style eatery.
