Kolize in East Riding of Yorkshire

The food is good, I've only eaten mid week a couple of times so it's quiet and hard to comment on the atmosphere but the service is always sharp.

Well what can I say I don’t usually leave reviews but feel as though I need to on this occasion. My husband and i thought we would try kolize a very helpful girl on the front takeaway walked us around the back to show us the entrance we were greeted by another lovely girl named Harriet who was amazing throughout our time in kolize explaining everything and was extremely polite she is a credit to kolize the food was amazing complements to the chefs we will most definitely be returning the atmosphere was lovely warm and cosy not rushed at all even though we were the last people in there on a Sunday night if I could give this more than 5***** I most definitely would if not been here then you must try you will not be disappointed thanks again see you soon 😊x

Disappointed. The old kolize used to have amazing dishes like seafood risotto and the used to have gluten free pizza. I’m coeliac so can’t have proper pasta. I know things like lasagne aren’t available but I could always find things to eat in the old kolize. I ended up with mushroom stroganoff which honestly was delicious but the lack of choice for me spoilt the night. I could have had steak but that’s not something that I like. Not much to ask to mix some of the seafood with gluten free pasta. And the head waitress was rude and didn’t know the menu. We asked for olives too nibble while we waited for our food. She said they didn’t do them. Then she changed her mind but they arrived with our main course Not impressed

Fantastic service and good quality food from the take away part . We ordered 3 bags of chips and they sent 2. Called them and spoke to a lovely person who got it rectified straight away. delivery driver back here again in no time at all with another bag of chips and 2 cans of drink . thank you so much. All staff very polite the person who I spoke to on the phone and delivery driver and food top quality too !!!!!

Placed an order online and the food arrived hot. Unfortunately there was a potion of chips missing from the order. We called the takeaway and the person on the phone was extremely helpful and said they would send out the portion of chips that was missing. There was a knock at the door within minutes of the phone call and the driver couldn’t apologise more. The chips was piping hot and some complimentary drinks was really well received as we didn’t expect it. We sat down to eat and the food was beautiful . Thank you for an enjoyable evening meal and we will be returning costumers .

We were asked if we wanted a starter, we we declined thinking we would be too full . When the main course arrived, the vegetables were sparse. I ordered lamb kebab with chips. There were 11 skinny chips. The food itself was very nice, but the portion sizes were grim. It the first time we have ever eaten out and came home and has a slice of toast .

Arrived and name not on booking list, i had booked online and to be fair when i made the reservation i thought the system they were using seemed a little dodgy to say the least. So no booking , so they offered us the table in no mans land, the one you get when you stagger in at pub closing an there no other option, i said straight away no , so again to be fair they gave us a decent table. Apart from us a table of two there was only one other party, and i remarked they going to rush us through, and sure enough they did, we were in an out , in around an hour, quickest 70 bucks i spent for a while. Whilst all of this has really wound me up i will say the food was good and the service was good but i will never return which is a shame because its on my doorstep.

We visited Kolize after seeing it on a visit to Hedon. We were celebrating a very decent grade in my daughter's Master's assignment. The restaurant is quaint and has a lovely décor and atmosphere. We had soup, which was like a meal in itself, bruschetta which was divine and various mains, and Princess Pudding and my 'sweet' boyfriend managed some chocolate fudge cake. I have eaten in several good Italian restaurants in Hull and many around the country, but the food here was just sublime, beautifully presented, high quality and fresh, expertly cooked and simply delicious. We will definately be back; with or without the next very decent grade :). Thank you so much to the chef and the staff, for a truly fantastic meal and a great evening.

It is with regret that I feel I have to share my experience at this restaurant. I've previously had such a good experience at kolize but sadly not the case this time. I pre booked a table for 10 people for my partners birthday. I also as requested sent through my order of all starters and main courses with sides. We arrived on time to a fairly busy restaurant with a great atmosphere. We all sat down but had to wait over half an hour before being asked if we would like drinks. All starters came out after that, which were great, but had to wait quite a while after that for our mains. Once the mains came, the Carbonara for one of the party was overly salty, we questioned if it was just his taste buds and sampled it for ourselves, and to our surprise, it tasted like someone had accidentally dropped the salt pot in it, so that had to be sent back and re ordered. All other mains arrived but lacking the side dishes of rice and veg. We waited and waited to the point were our food was becoming cold so we flagged a waitress down as asked if our sides were on the way, because food was now being served at other tables and we really thought we'd been forgotten about. Really disappointing when naturally the sides should be there at the same time as the rest of the food. Hence the rating, if the food and waiting time hadn't been an issue we all would have walked away extremely happy. But unfortunately due to this experience many of our party won't be dining with you again.

First time ordering and will definitely be ordering again. First class pizza and the chicken gyros box meal was amazing with plenty of chicken. Next time I’ll request a menu to be sent so I can see a the delights they have to offer. Would definitely recommend from our experience.

Booked a table for 7.00pm. Wine served pretty quickly. Garlic bread starter arrived at 7.30pm. At 8.45 no main course served. It was obvious other parties who arrived after us and complained got serverd first. When I did approach the serving staff about our main course I was advised they were busy downstairs. Final straw was a customer who arrived 1 hour after us and complained and got their main course before us. I ask for my bill for a bottle of wine and garlic bread and left. My wife and I left very disappointed and our evening spoilt. Will never return. I am not the sort of customer who gives the serving staff a bad time, its not their fault they can only serve what the kitchen puts out. The faceless person who runs this restuarant does not deserve to be in business.

Amazing place, nothing was too much trouble. As the only vegan in a party of four, the chef said they would make me something I could eat. What a meal I received! I can honestly say they it was one of the best meals I’ve eaten in a long time. I can highly recommend, the rest of my party loved their meals too. We will be back very soon!

First time visiting after many recommendations and it really didn’t disappoint! Lasagna along with garlic bread and chips to share it was such a lovely meal! Atmosphere was great and the team are so friendly. Definitely recommend!

The food was absolutely amazing but let down by the service. It was initially good. Was shown to our seats, ordered and received our starter then main course but it took an age before we were given the sweet menu and never returned to take our order so in the end we paid and left.

Food was amazing, the upstairs in the restaurant was good but we went downstairs to the cocktail bar and it was freezing, one single heater blowing out tepid air, my friend kept her coat on and staff going in and out the door. Would’ve stayed longer in the cocktail bar had it have been more cosy.

We booked online but they didn’t get it so we had to wait as they were shut till 1215pm. Food was nice but not amazing and service was ok.

Chicken Alfredo was lovely. It's a spacious restaurant, nothing worse than feeling hemmed in for the sake of more bums on seats. Will be back.

This restaurant is very nice, we had the Sunday roast, which is amazing, the restaurant Manager known as Simon is very helpful and accoodating, the service was excellent as was the ambiance, we will definitely be going again and again. Garry

Would not recommend, worst takeaway we have ever had Ordered 2 chicken kebabs and a garlic bread £28. Chicken over cooked and hard, garlic bread crispy and cold. Salad was not fresh, cucumber soggy, transparent and smelt

Unfortunately the lack of beef in the Stroganoff was a real disappointment in an otherwise lovely meal. The presentation was lovely and the rest of the meal was very good but will not order Stroganoff again at that price with a tiny amount of steak. Apparently the chef apologised for the fact that the usual amount of 200g may not have been measured correctly!

A friendly greeting. This is a busy but cosy restaurant that brings the outside inside with its decor. The food is well presented & tastes delicious. Salt & pepper grinders are on the table, but i found that my food was perfect without any extra seasoning. Garlic mushrooms, garlic bread, salmon tagliatelle & calzone. All portions are very generous. All are full of flavour. My wife & i agree that this is the best italian food we've ever eaten.

Ordered food to take away and then when I produced my card to pay was informed it was cash only. It would have been good to know first as I entered the shop maybe! After a quick visit to the cash point a few yards up the road, we returned to place our order again. It arrived, freshly cooked and well packaged, in 15 mins and was well worth the mess about. At least I know for future reference, cash only!

Good italian cooking, well worth a visit, stairs are a problem for some but otherwise good cooking italian stlye, good staff, great pizza

Went for my hubby's birthday. It was like being on holiday. Food was lovely, I had the seafood pasta. Gave hubby a free drink for his b day. I got a free cocktail on mine as have been twice now. Can't wait to come back in a couple of weeks.

Perhaps a little air conditioning for upstairs ? Unless I was just having one of my hot flushes ! Great food and service

Tasty food, authentic, friendly service. Large choice of pizzas, Greek food, etc. Pizza was top, as was the chicken gyros and the Greek salad. Does not take cards at take away shop. Cash only.

Loved the atmosphere at this Italian. Absolutely delicious pasta dishes were enjoyed by all. Garlic tomato bread was tasty with a thin base. Staff were attentive but not in your face.

Doesn't seem as good anymore, we order from here a couple times per week and the last 4 times we've had missing items.. then waiting 40-60 mins for the rest of it to arrive!

Visited this lovely restaurant with my best friend. The food, service, and ambience were all excellent. Both the food and drinks menus were much to our liking. At all times, we felt very welcome and will definitely be returning in the future.

2hours 10 for delivery is an absolute joke for the delivery kid have to run back to his car for 3 mons leaving me on the doorstep because he clearly didn't want to have to give me any change ... which I wanted back on princible due to the long rubbish service food was ... Mehh like it had been sat around for awhile this isn't the first time but certainly was will be the last ..... they advertise and do all these special offers yet don't even seem capable of been able to keep with with a normal Thursday night!

Cozy night with my wife. The food was delicious , the atmosphere was lovely and fantastic staff... I was shocked at how cheap the bill was when it came. My wife said it's because we usually have the kids to pay for as well, lol... I still think 2 courses (Inc specials), 4 non alcohol beers, and 3 large glasses of wine for less than £90 is a excellent value.

Its been a while since i have received such a good service at a restaurant. The staff were so friendly and attentive. The food was excellent and i would highly recommend to anyone. Carnt wait to go back one of the best restaurants in the Uk that i have been to in a while.

I have been many times to Kolize to collect my order from the previous owner and always had a fantastic meal. This was my first time using the app for a delivery. My meal had not arrived within the 60 minutes that is stated. I contacted the restaurant using the chat and was told it was out for delivery and would be 10 minutes. It still did not arrive. I contacted them again 25 minutes later to be told it would be 15 minutes. My food arrived 2 hours later after ordering. My chips were cold, they sent the wrong sauces. I was very disappointed with the service. I will not be ordering again

Gave this place another chance after our last visit when service was not good. Greeted by old staff , Louis and a few familiar faces. Thankfully they were back. Service great, attentive and worth the price. Food delicious Amazing wine selection and improved menu. Great atmosphere overall. We were there as a group of 4. Everybody enjoyed themselves and the evening and service was flawless.

Becoming a weekly visit!! The four us just can't fault the place. We first visited the takeaway about two months ago (after hearing there was a new owner) and the food was amazing! So much so we visited the restaurant (without a booking) the next night! The pizza and pastas we've all been trying are delicious.... But... I have to say... I nearly always get the steaks lol. In true Italian style I always get a garlic bread with it! Apparently the wife's favourite is the Salmon though, along with 3 or 4 cocktails!!! I can't recommend the place enough!!! Try it.... It certainly won't be a one off visit!!! Oh and while I'm writing.... A big thank you to the staff... Who already know all our names!

We visited the restaurant mid week and had a lovely meal. The staff were really efficient and pleasant and the food was excellent. The restaurant has a lovely atmosphere and is nicely decorated. I would highly recommend the restaurant and would visit again.

Went in last night 1/10/22 and the menu was very different to the one we had back in august. The choices for us were far better and all the meals we chose were brilliant. Great to see the return on the menu of Starters Seafood...

Me and my partner came here last week since they’ve changed owners. The food was beautiful and the atmosphere was great. The staff where attentive and friendly, the decor is amazing, felt like we was on holiday abroad ! Will definitely be returning !

Had a mixed kebab instead of a pizza and it was very nice. Chicken seasoned well and the lamb sheesh was tender and juicy. Skin on fries where nice. The only thing that we felt could be improved was the salad. Not a lot of effort put into to it. That aside a nice change to the usually doner meat heavy mixed kebabs. Would go again.

Young girls that work there are lovely, friendly, if you ask for something they will do their best to help you , (but maybe a little more management training if you are expected to pay for good food and wine , brandy’s it is the little things that show you have knowledge and understanding of a customer x

Very nice mixed kebab steak was great

The quality of the lamb in the kebab not as it used to be. The burger had a strange taste and smell but was ok when ate. Chips could do with cooking a bit longer. Not the worst takeaway but not the best anymore sadly. Sad considering I was the very first customer in here when I waa a kid - posting on behalf of Mark.

Was a nice meal but not the same as it used to be. The prices are expensive and the place is so brightly lit now it has lost it's romantic feel.

Ordered over the phone, the person on the other side wasn't great at communicating. The mumbled a fair bit. When I collected the pizza the staff were OK. Pizza was a great size, tomato sauce is 2nd to none! They're very generous with the quality toppings. I've left 4 stars because I personally didn't like the thickness of the base, it was too thick & didn't carry much flavour, the texture was like a thick slice of bread. They also don't have a card machine in the take away section.

Very poor food. Microwaved burgers and kebabs. Also saw a member of staff mopping out the pizza oven with a dirty mop and putting a pizza in literally 2 minutes later. Arrogant, rude owner who swore at me when I mentioned it accompanied by a very forward intrusive wife. Needless to say I walked out. Tables too close to eachother and very dirty. Avoid like the plague!

A hidden gem. Tucked round the back of the pizzeria and bakery on the main street in Hedon is this beautiful, intimate restaurant. There is a warm welcome by friendly and attentive staff. A great selection of drinks. A lovely menu with extra daily specials....

Venerdi sono stata a cena con dei amici. E stata la prima volta per me a visitare Kolize. I miei amici erano gia stati e tutte le volte sono rimasti contenti. Devo dire che i bucatini al amatriciana cosi buoni ,non ho mangiato neanche in Italia..un vero spettacolo. I baba al rum , come deserto, erano deliziosi. Sono contentissima di aver scoperto questo posto, grazie ai miei amici, e sicuramente ritornero per provare altri piatti

Absolutely fantastic evening with friends... the food was delicious tasty and presented so well.. staff went above and beyond helping and serving you ( thankyou ).. the restaurant is delightful and cosy just how you would expect an Italian restaurant to be...my partner is gluten free and he was catered for very well (thankyou again) The dessert rum baba highly recommended it's to die for (gorgeous) Only one small criticism could have had English added to some of the dishes on the menu so we didn't have to keep asking what it was.. We will most definitely be going back and more friends will be coming once lockdown is lifted and we can all sit in one big group. Nella.
