Me and my friends have decided to revisit Killay since all our old school friends were from there orginally, and now it's just a few left that's still living there, So a trip back to the memory lane. When I walked in there I used the anti bacteria gel for hand sanitisation and there were 4 to 5 groups, and some people were waiting. What I found was that there were some micro aggression mixed with race related remarks that was made towards me even though I didn't see their face, and i think that judging by their accent the women and the male may be from that area. So i decided to continue to sit down and enjoy the meal, and the vegetable byrani was a little bland but the side sauce helped to add some flavour in with a subtle kick. And the coke needs to be alot colder as it was room temperature even though there was already ice in there. So from my experiences and my opinion, is that in todays society wherever you go, there will always be these types of insecure, narrowminded arrogant racist bigots, so they may come under the cluster B personality profile. If someone has a problem with a particular person or persons, then please reach out and speak to the person or persons, that you have an issue with in a friendly and a respectful manner and maybe the bitterness will subside. By doing this it should help you to lift your confidence, and it will help you in the long run to try and understand your own problems of insecurities or other underlying issues. Please do not be put off by coming to the restaurant as I feel pitiful for those people. I really hope that those people have enjoyed their meal including the lively atmosphere, as much as I did, because I found it to be somewhat entertaining, because the remarks are actually directed towards yourself in a psychological context, and a reminder in general, is that any race related remarks, or any forms of racial harassment in both online and in person will land you in a court of law with a criminal record, and that is something I do not want. Absolutely shocking. Delivery was over an hour late, and the phone was put down on me twice when I called to ask why. The workers then lied to me and told me my food was late due to roadworks (there aren’t any roadworks between my house and their restaurant). Will never order from here again and would not recommended.

Food was good although portions were definitely on the larger side. They do the annoying cut up your naan for you which is never ideal as the cuts are never as suitable when you tear what you need to match the food you want to eat. Vindaloo wasn’t spicy in the slightest, not even a hint of it - it had great flavour so I ate and enjoyed it, but the kochi was a lot more spicy which was rather random. Staff are friendly, service is good and quick as long as you don’t order wine as that can knock them for six and take a while. Prices are really reasonable, location is good, there is limited parking right outside but there is plenty within short walking distance.

Just had a takeaway from here and it was not good, the curry dish I had was tasteless and watery, the keema naan had barely any filling in it and the chips were rock hard. It used to be really nice , but that was poor.

This restaurant is amazing, came in at a time which wasn't busy and you can tell its popular with the alot of takeaway orders being taken. My family got the tandoori chicken, paneer vegetable biryani, chicken curry, garlic naan, masala chai and lemonade The waiter/manager was very kind offered to put in panner in the vegetable biryani and my parent had a nice chat. The decorations is beautiful with lovely music. The food was amazing finished it all!

We were the first customers in, early evening, so hard to rate atmosphere, music was in keeping with establishment. Greeted with a smile and quickly seen to for drinks and meals ordered. Food was superb.

Stayed in Killay for a short break and this restaurant was a real find, it's tucked away behind the Black Boy pub so if you don't know it's there you would drive straight past it, we went on a Friday night and there was no need to book, all the staff were very friendly and helpful and the food was some of the best Indian I have ever had, if you are anywhere near this place you must go and pay it a visit you will not be disappointed from one very happy customer

Turned up sat 04.11.2023 at 7pm still not received meal at 9pm when spoke to manager turned his back and walked away from member of party exstemly poor customer service as couples served immediately and also take out orders party of 7 left waiting for 2 hrs until walked out to another restaurant totaly unacceptable service only management to blame unable to rate food never got to taste there was also another party in same predicament

Really tasty curries and naans plenty of them to choose from on the menu. Service was also very good and the waiters were very friendly. I'm local so I come here quite a lot and I've never had a bad meal. Food always tastes great and fresh. Would recommend.

I've been going there for years and usually been satisfied. Well, once a tray full of drinks was spilled onto my stepmum's coat and no compensation given... A few times the dishes have varied from one visit to the next. Once we had to listen to a very loud argument coming from the kitchen and tempers flying in the restaurant side too. Still the food has mainly been good enough for me to keep going back. Last night though I ordered the chargrilled salmon and it turned out to be raw and still partially frozen! Yuck. It was quickly taken away and replaced by a prawn version of the same dish (it was similar but not as nice as the salmon usually has been). After promises of wanting to "keep us happy", continually checking on us and coming across as very keen to compensate, all I was left with was a £2 deduction of the price of the original salmon dish and, after a bit of an argument, £4 off our drinks. They wouldn't even reduce the price of my friend's drink because "why should I offer your friend compensation when it was your food that wasn't right?". Wow. Doubt I'll go again.

Terrible and stressful experience here recently. Very disappointing (especially as a regular customer and at a quiet time of the evening 6pm).The Chefs had a physical fight in the kitchen while we were waiting for our meal, there was screaming and shouting too. All the customers heard it and my kids were upset. We waited at least 45 mins from the popadom tray being removed to our mains arriving and then an extra TEN MINUTES for the accompanying rice to arrive despite asking several times where it was! The waiter told me that the rice was delayed because he was waiting to re-heat it in the microwave! NICE!! I think we’ll go elsewhere from now on.

I don't usually post reviews. Punjabi chole was shockingly sweet. No indian punjabi curry will have sugar in it, only bengali dishes. Chili Cauliflower was also far from Chinese.

I came here with friends for a meal, it was my first time here and we received a warm welome. We were quickly seated and given adequate time to browse the menu. We ordered and were then brought our drinks. When our food was brought out, it was well presented, looked amazing and was piping hot. The portion sizes were genorus and the food was very tasty. The staff were very attentaive to their cusomers and the service was fantastic.

A pretty average local Indian restaurant. It would be better if it sorted out the consistency of its dishes - the lamb balti changes every time I go. The speed of service could also be improved. We waited 45 mins for food after ordering. With 2 hungry kids this was a bit stressful. Also whacking 20% service on the bill was a surprise, especially when the service was so-so - for example our waiter did not know how to clear plates or pour a drink.

We had a takeaway which was easy to order and by the time we got there we waited 5 mins the staff were friendly and welcoming.

Beautiful place to sit in, and the food is like no other. Service was on another level, owner was out of this world. Highly recommend for a meal or a takeaway, it will be hard to beat both the quality of food and how curtesy and friendly the staff are there. A MUST FOR ME A++++++

I've got to say after having eaten here for years, tonight's takeaway was very disappointing. The chicken tikka masala was a mile away from what it used to be. Rich, creamy and now runny and bland. I don't know what's gone on whether it's trying to save with rise of costs? It's a real shame. I will try once more before looking elsewhere. This used to be my go to curry house. I'm gutted to say that the future looks bleak on that front and will have to look further afield.

Terrible taste, gave us the wrong order twice. The food was extremely bland and was not authentic. Food felt half-finished, and had no seasoning or flavour. Food took eons to make yet tasted like it took 5 minutes, and the manager was unapologetic and blissfully unaware of the poor quality. Would not recommend unless you were a starving tramp. Totally waste of Money and time.

This is by far one of the best Indian restaurants we have eaten at , the service is excellent and the food is probably the best we have tasted 👌.. we have taken a few people with us over the last year and they all agree with us 😀

Very late getting the meal with an unapologetic side order! Meal itself was pretty good but 40 minutes wait after arriving slightly after the agreed pick up time is unacceptable, but the frontman didn't appear to agree🙈

Great Indian food, so lucky to have a place like this in killay after years of sub par Indians in that spot.

First time visiting Killay Spice with my wife. Didn’t book, but was greeted and sat down promptly. Staff were very friendly and accommodating. I had the chilli chicken fry for starters, followed by South Indian garlic chilli chicken with a garlic cheese naan and chips for mains. Overall, very impressed with a reasonably priced menu and good portion sizes. We will definitely be back soon!

Yet again another disappointing meal from Killay Spice! Haven’t used them for a couple of years as always dissatisfied, so thought I’d give it another go .. well lesson learned won’t use again.

Regularly come here on a quiet Monday night (a few times a year) to catch up with friends. Food and drinks always good, staff are friendly and attentive, prices are pretty much as expected. Good range on the menu and always as described, nice ambience.

We had been to this restaurant today because we were craving for some authentic Indian food but unfortunately the food was bare sweet it was literally as of though we were having dessert. And the first thing first it wasn’t the waiters fault who was serving us there was another guy who came to serve us food and he dropped a naan and he went in saying he would change and got the same naan back. None of the waiters are trained to ask about the spice or palate of the customers according to their taste. The guy who was serving at the start was extremely good, but never visiting or recommending the place again.

I've been eating here for years and it always can be relied on to be deliciously cooked with great service. My favourite Garlic King Prawns £5.95 Jumbo tiger prawns marinated in herbs and garlic paste and stir fried with butter and served with salad. And Chicken Tikka £8.25 Tender pieces of chicken marinated with various spices and grilled in tandoor. Very tasty. Enjoy.

First time takeaway from this nice-looking restaurant. Lamb in Jalfreizi was extremely dry and tough, samosas were fridge-cold. Could not recommend but hope it was a one-off oversight.

Ordered a meal for 3 last night at 5.30 for a takeaway pick up at 7.30, food wasn’t ready waited another 35 minutes for it to come and even it was mixed up, food was ok but lamb full of fat, poor quality food and service, it seemed the people before me were in the same boat Absolute carnage !!!! It’s a real shame as this restaurant used to be great years ago. Won’t be returning .

This restaurant is normally 5 stars the food is great unfortunately went there tonight for a celebration, we ordered food and drinks waited an hour and 20 mins and the starter was not received, final straw people walked in and received our starters

Ate in last night after seeing the reviews, was lovely food, very warm hospitality. Imran was a chatty, happy person and a credit to the environment. Definitely will be going again.

Paid £50 for a delivery only to receive cold food that had to be microwaved to heat it up also no dips which they don't do with takeaway ...i'm sure i would have had them if i'd eaten in ..thoroughly disappointed and a waste of £50....would not use again.....

Put in order at 1845 finally arrived over an hour later. Opened it up and the order was wrong rang them up and the bloke actually said "I'm sorry its my fault I didn't write it down" waited another 40 minutes just to get the right curries got to eat my food at 2045 gave us a free bottle of cobra handy when there's 3 of us ordering food I imagine it tastes nice when it's all delivered togerther correctly and piping hot. Won't order from here again.

Accidently found this restaurant when everywhere else was closed. Our meal was delicious and the service was quick and friendly. Definitely will eat there again.

Waiting time for takeaway pickup was 50 minutes instead of the said 20 minutes. Disappointed with food. soggy poppadoms, like they were a day old. Chips were like the left overs from the fryer, all crispy none of them soft. Strange taste in the curries. Very disappointing experience. Lots of deliveries going on and restaurant only a third full. Normally nice food tho

Absolutely stunning. I like curry. It's class. I have had many curries in my time...many from Killay Tandoori back in the day and a few from Killay Spice in its present guise. I can honestly say the curry I had from Killay Spice last night was in the top three of any curry from anywhere that I've ever had in my life. Honestly incredible. Had the 'Kochi Murugh' off the House Specials menu. Might end this review short to go and buy another one. Over and out.

I live in a close by village, I normally collect from killay spice but haven’t for over 2 months as haven’t had a take away. I can not recommend enough. The food was piping hot, absolutely beautiful. Everything was fresh and can’t fault anything. Including the gentleman who took my order and the gentleman who delivered the food. It was a class above experience from start to finish. Thank you !

Excellent restaurant and sublime service. If it was more local to me I'm sure I would dine there more often. You need to go eat here. Coming out of this pandemic, these guys are ready to give you a top experience. Couldn't give them any more credit. The food was devine too.

"Hello, so good to see you" and the food was as good as the welcome.

I asked for Chicken Tikka Masala; what I got was revoltingly sweet, no hint of spices or coriander and it was dyed a lurid red colour. I chucked it in the bin. The pilau rice was tasteless and badly overcooked as well. The nan bread was okay.

Collected a takeaway, it was dreadful. Opened the container to see a lot of orange grease settled on the surface of the food. A dish which is usually pale in colour was dark brown? The rice I could cut with a knife! Have had sit in meals here and not been disappointed, sadly can't say the same for this takeaway. Maybe an off night?

Ordered a takeaway and it was very nice, slight delay on service but the quality of the curry made up for it. 9/10.

Absolutely disgraceful. We decided to try somewhere new and from the get go I should have gone with my initial feelings. We specified a time for delivery, as not all the family would be home in time and they said don’t worry we are so busy u won’t get it before then anyway. The food turned up 30 mins early, half of it was all inside the bag, spilt everywhere, there were items missing, the chips and popadoms were stale and the nan bread was like dough, undercooked and the meat was cold/frozen. When I called to complain I was told it was a busy night. We live in Killay and have had numerous take outs over the years and I don’t usually leave reviews, but trust me do not purchase food from this establishment.

First. Must explain that this visit was on the last night before the 17 day lockdown in Wales, so the place was roofed. The menu was limited compared with other Indian restaurants. We ordered dished well known to us, but one did not compare well and was far too sweet! Not good for a lamb dish. Overall, food was just OK. Service was good, but looking at the bill afterwards, we were overcharged by a tenner. First time in Swansea, more expected in London! There are better Indians in the area.

Every time I have ordered a takeaway from Killay Spice it has been delicious, I try a new item on the menu each time and it always tastes amazing.

We have had 3 take aways delivered and each one has been delicious and delivered quickly. Highly recommended.

I can’t believe I am writing this as I have known the owners of this restaurant for years, having eaten here and in their past restaurant the Viceroy. May 1st, I ordered a take away meal to be delivered. I ordered a mushroom Bhaji to start, a chicken tikka main meal & a tandoori combination main meal which came with a tandoori nan bread. When the meal arrived, we dished out the meal..the mushroom bhaji was so hot it was burning our lips and mouths...which is usually mild. The tandoori nan was just a plain nan, they forgot the mint sauce to go with both meals and the worst thing, parts of the chicken tikka was raw!! We phoned the restaurant and they brought us some mint sauce and another mushroom bhaji..that is all. The mushroom bhaji was exactly the same - too spicy to eat. We asked the delivery driver to take photos of the raw chicken to show the owner. We had a third delivery of another mushroom bhaji and poppadoms? This time, the bhaji was swimming in ghee and again, was inedible. We then received a call from the owner and tried explain the situation. He kept saying you and your family are valued customers and we want to remain friends not enemies. I explained, of course, but this meal was inedible, my sister had already had to visit the bathroom after eating the raw chicken. He then said, ‘next time you order we will give usextra food’, I then said ‘ this had totally ruined our evening, it’s £27 wasted on an inedible meal with raw chicken!! I said 'I would like a refund'to which he said ‘no, I’m not giving you a refund, £27?, £27, we have customers that spend over £100’. An Absolutely shocking, rude, attitude - we couldn’t believe it! So, we proceeded to tell him we’ll be going to trading standards and the environment health to report him,to which hereplied, ‘go ahead’. We have reported him and his restaurant are currently waiting to hear back from trading standards- which we have already been informed that we are entitled to a full refund if the purchase is not acceptable or as described. What a way to treat a customer that has spent a lot of money in his restaurants over the years!!

Had an awful takeaway from here this evening when I called to tell them I was told it’s not the end of the world is it - not really what I needed after a 9 hour shift at the Hospital !

We went with our sons football team. I've been to A LOT of Indian restaurants all over the UK, and this was probably the most tasty I've ever experienced. Not only that but the owner was lovely and couldn't do enough. GO NOW!

Customer service was excellent. Haven’t met a nicer team of staff. Made sure our needs were catered for. Food was outstanding. I’ve never been a big fan of curry but I loved the food.
