We ate here at lunchtime as a family of 6 - 4 adults and 2 under 5s. We all had fish and chips - 4 regular plus mushy peas and 2 children’s. The fish and mushy peas were excellent and we all enjoyed the chunky chips, although a little dry! The restaurant was very busy which is always a positive and we didn’t have to wait long.

I visited Kays today for the second and last time. My first visit last month was faultless. I had the £9 special which was great value. Today the special menu was not on the tables so i assumed it wasn’t available on Fridays. I ordered a regular cod and chips and tea. Just before my meal arrived the waitress put something on my table and walked off and when i looked it was the special menu. Immediately after my cod and chips for £11.30 arrived and the fish was very nice but I said to the waitress before touching it that I would have ordered the special had I known it was available. She said that fish has only just arrived and walked off. Good customer service would have been to offer me the special meal as it was their incompetence I paid in total £12.90 with the tea instead of £9 and had no mushy peas or bread & butter that is included in the special. Due to the poor service I will not be visiting Kays again as my custom did not seem valued.

This place is spotless , staff friendly . We opted for the special which was a small fish , chips and either mushy peas, curry sauce or gravy … I don’t know whether it was because we ordered the special but the fish was so watery and bland. The original fish when brought out looked fantastic. So disappointed with the fish howlers the chips, peas gravy and curry sauce was so tasty. We wouldn’t be put of this place but next time we would just skip the special and pay the extra…

5pm on a Saturday. A queue of about 10 people. Each person taking 5 minutes to serve. Gave up and left after 20 minutes of the queue barely moving an inch. Don’t know if they are massively underprepared, massively slow, or just don’t care. Added bonus - the girl outside said the chips were underdone and bland. Also, the “sausages” are the cheapest, grottiest, meatless bangers you can buy from the grimmest supermarket, and they’re charging £2.20 for them. Jokers. A lucky escape.

Disgusting service. I stood waiting for my food whilst being slagged off by 2 men to each other. They openly stood in front of me and slagged me down and laughed at my expense for no obvious reason. I was on my own so felt very vulnerable and awkward. Been here before and had a positive visit. Will never go back. Food was also cooked extremely poorly. The 2 men working on Bank Hol Monday 3rd May at roughly 6pm need sacking. Terrible service. Doesn't even deserve 1 star. No need to make a young girl feel like that.

Excellent ! From the minute my husband and I walked in with our little dachshund the staff were happy, enthusiastic and extremely welcoming . The interior was well laid out for social distancing and we were asked to sit towards the back due to the dog - which is totally acceptable ( not everyone lives dogs after all ) . Toilets were clean and fresh . We both had haddock and chips and my own portion was gluten free . The meal was delivered surprising quickly by a lovely lady and I was offered gf vinegar without even having to ask - I’ve found some chippies don’t even realise the importance. Until Kay’s I was adamant you couldn’t get really good fish and chips outside of Yorkshire and although Kay’s didn’t use beef dripping like over there the fish and chips were spot on !!! We will definitely return to Kay’s next time we are over ‘Blackpool way’ ....

Chunky chips and fresh fish in a light but crisp batter. The fish was well cooked and the big chunky chips were just right. Our table was clean even though the place was busy. The menus were not dogeared and stained .There was salt pepper and vinegar. These are details that not every place can get right. The people who run this place know what they are about. Visited this fine establishment with the family today. Staff were welcoming and friendly and tolerant of the ways of our rambunctious toddler. Most of us had Fish, which was reasonably priced and well done. I ordered a regular fish and found it quite sufficient despite being a man who may have eaten more pies in his time than is strictly good for him. There is a larger option, possibly aimed at off duty Sumo wrestlers or young men with something to prove. Chips were tasty and not excessively greasy. Pie was eaten by son who proclaimed it good. For me the most impressive part of the meal was the curry sauce, for which there are no less than two options. I plumped for the spicy option and saw that it was good. All children cleaned plates and were happy. There are very generous child portions aimed at the under 12s. This proved a good call as our 12 year old son ate an adult portion and then accosted his sister's plate. All in all will definitely return when back in that neck of the woods.

We visit here regularly and have generally found the fish and chips to be excellent quality; we would certainly agree with other reviewers about the high standards. However, we have found standards have slipped somewhat lately: we had fish and chips last week and, although the fish was cooked to order, the batter was hard and overcooked resulting in dried, chewy fish. A very disappointing experience. Had we been first time visitors, we would not return on the basis of this meal.

If you want beans with chips the beans are 90p (or not far off) but if you want beans with a baked potato they are nearly double that price. Strange.

4 of us went for team today. 3 specials of the the day (haddock, chips, mushy peas, bread butter and mug of tea) £6.75 each and our 4th person had pie and chips. We all enjoyed the food which was lovely the staff were nice and friendly and also the toilets were clean (unlike some others nearby). Recommended

Thanks to Kay's for accommodating our church outing. We had an excellent plate of fish and chips with sides of mushy peas, tea/coffee and bread & butter. Excellent chips and fish served promptly with no fuss. Certainly worth another visit.

Lovely crispy batter, perfectly flaky white Haddock, great chips. Brought to our table quickly. Staff friendly. The place is super clean. Good value for such great quality too. Highly recommend this place, we've been 4 or 5 times over last couple of years.

Our normal Fish and Chip eat in establishment in Blackpool, was packed to the rafters 12/10/2019. Decided it was best to go a little off the beaten track, as everywhere decent seemed jam packed; due to the illuminations. Visited this place years ago. Was Ok, wasn't offered the option of the fish being lightly battered. My fish was OK, but husbands was heavily coated. Maybe we should of mentioned it, when ordering. Definitely fresh fish and of decent size. Chips standard, albeit a few eyes in the potatoes. Peas far too dried up. Menu, a bit boring. Could offer more, then again it is just a chippy. Don't get me wrong, I am so fussy. Noticed on departing that from Mon-Friday they do the same as what we got for £6.75 each. As it was a Saturday. During those times bill would of been £13.50 instead of over £18. We normally go to Trip Advisors Number 1 Fish and Chip eat in Blackpool. Kay's in Cleveleys is a decent meal, but for the best try our choice that is cheaper and far better like for like.

Kays is by far the best chip shop around. Their food is second to none in my opinion. The chips are fabulous, always cooked to perfection and crisp. The fish in several sizes are cooked to your requirements - lightly battered, battered etc and the batter is whisper thin and crunchy. There is never any fat floating on the plate as can be seen in other establishments. Kays is a must if you visit Cleveleys it's near to the Visitor carparks, next to the Bus Station and across from The British Legion Club.

Cold, wet and windy day and saw this chippy/restaurant so paid a visit. Two specials, fish, chips, peas, tea and bread and butter £6.75 each. Food was excellent, crispy batter on the fish, chips were best I`ve had for a long time. Never finish a meal but I ate every morsel of this. Will visit again next time I`m in the area. Can I just add the tables, floor and the whole cafe was so clean.

During a stay at Blackpool. We went to cleveleys to the cinema during the afternoon, then went to Kay’s fish and chips , The fish and chips are really nice, you will not be disappointed, The peas didn’t seem to have much taste to them, But the fish and chips are the best we Have had during any stay in Blackpool, Worth a trip to cleveleys, just for the food, And they have made the sea front really nice, Next time we that way on we will definitely be going to Kay’s for our dinner

Kay's is my favourite chippy, I'm not a big fish and chip fan but I absolutely love the fish and chips from here. We go every school holidays to Lytham and to see family in Thornton and it wouldn't be complete without our tea on the sea front from Kay's.

Cod, chips & mushy peas... quality ! Probably the best I’ve ever had. Richard served us ... quality customer service... so down to earth. Chatty, friendly . Couldn’t ask anymore of this visit. So worthy to be number one on trip advisor. Will so be back next time we are in Cleveleys. Thanks again, Michael & Carol from Liverpool.

firstly, been going here about 15 years, used to praise it to people ,yes the fish is lovely, recently been very let down with the peas, not cooked enough therefore had to mash them on the plate, okay so no peas in future, well went yesterday and decided we would have steak pudding (no peas ) chips 1 slice of bread, my wife had the pudding with half portion chips , cup of tea .oh forgot to mention GRAVY, the cost of all this was £16,oh but included £2.00 for a splattering gravy, how long has gravy not been included with pies or puddings. sorry we wont be coming back again,

After seeing this Chippy on Google we made a visit on Sunday 21 July 2019 and ordered Two fish and Chips, sadly the chips were undercooked and soggy. The fish was acceptable 6/10 but to be honest I think it would have to improve by a large margin for us to try again.
