I have always had the best meal here. But I don’t understand what happened today😭😭 the bitterleaf soup I ordered today was so watery!!

During my recent trip to Cardiff, I had the pleasure of dining at Karibu African Restaurant, and it was a culinary journey like no other. I savoured their egusi soup and pounded yam, which were simply divine, and the pepper soup paired perfectly with chilled drinks. The ambience was enhanced by the vibrant African musical interlude, creating an authentic and enjoyable dining experience. Karibu is a haven for Naija-made food, bringing a true taste of home with every bite. What surprised me the most was the affordability of such high-quality meals. The service was impeccable, with friendly staff who made me feel welcomed and well taken care of. Thumbs up to Karibu for making my stay in Cardiff feel like a home away from home. I highly recommend this gem to anyone looking to experience the rich flavours of African cuisine in Cardiff.

Food is good and prices are good

It felt like home. I visited with a friend last summer (we are both Nigerian). The aroma, people and music were all so lively. The staff were so friendly and engaging. It felt like we’d known each other, just like it is at home. Not to mention, the foods were so tasty and affordable. We had to take some back home with us! The only issue is that it can be a little hard to find as there was no sign board. I returned in November with other friends, but locating it was hard, and when we called the number provided here, we found out it was closed, opening/closing isn’t updated on here. I hope to return when next I’m in Cardiff.

We were visiting in the area and wanted to have a hot Nigerian meal, so we found this place online which had a good rating. On arriving, it was confusing because according to the maps we got to the exact location but the name and look of the store was totally different. The name was 'Central African... ' something. We were skeptical but we entered the building only to be welcomed with more confusion... Long story cut short ; the Service was great and the food was prepared in good time (although a bit uncomfortable for my family, we planned to eat in but couldn't and then did a takeout). The food was delicious 😋 and we all enjoyed it Should we visit the area again, we will definitely be ordering again but strictly as a takeout. I will recommend trying their food and dining in if it is comfortable for you

Very good cuisine. Delicious and hearty dishes. Simple infrastructure but good atmosphere. Interesting value for money. To be tested.

Ordered it, got there and was told there was no meat for the pepper soup only fish. Got home and found it was giant hollowed out fish head with no fish to eat, very dissatisfied.

First time eating Nigerian food. Amazing flavour all clearly home cooked. Fufu I could eat all day. Really friendly people serving us and could barely move when we left due to the portion sizes. Will Be returning

Came into Cardiff for holiday and searched online for an African restaurant, saw Karibu and decided to visit,Food was so nice, I visited once and ordered twice via uber pick up,food was delivered on time. Food portion is very good for the price. My kids loved the food so much, I will definitely be ordering from here again. I would recommend you guys add your restaurant on Uber eats or Deliveroo to make it easier for customers that want food delivered to them. Staffs were friendly.Cheers.

The restaurant beats my imagination. When I was driving down to the restaurant, I wasn't expecting much, I was just looking to eat anything for the time being until I'm back in London. Surprise, Surprise! I went back the second day driving another 45mins from Newport to Cardiff for another experience. This gentleman chef and the staff should be proud of themselves!. The food all of them are classic traditional African taste! Real taste from real people! I was meant to eat and go, but I stayed another 2 hours having a chat with the staff and other customers. I truly love my experience, and I rate this food very highly!

Wahoo what a nice place and good food, warm welcome and authentic Nigerian food and rural presentation made me feel I am in a local buka, buy very clean and modern twist .... this is what you need after few hours drive from London....... Well done guys I will definitely call again when in Cardiff, thank you.

I will be honest with you, it wasn't straightforward to find. It is advertised as a cafe and late did we noticed the name Karibu written on the lower side of the door. We made our way into a cosy, very friendly atmosphere and omg, so glad we did. The food was absolutely delicious, an explosion of flavours that you just can't get enough of. Excellent service, generous portions and really, really nice food cooked with love, joy and soul. Thank you so much for the friendliness and the amazing food experience. Highly recommend this place :)

If you are looking for African community pub style environment then this is good. Owner is quite friendly and easy-going. Loads of African beers. Only downside is he closes about midnight.
