I was attracted by the Japanese decoration and Japanese food offer, so we give it a try. We mainly ordered the Traditional KARAAGE, while the food was decent, it lacked the authenticity I was expecting as an Asian. The karaage, which is a favorite traditional dish, was served with an acceptable sauce, but the chicken itself was a letdown. Instead of being tender and juicy, it was made entirely with chicken breast, which lacked the rich texture and flavor I associate with authentic karaage. Overall, the meal was okay, but it didn’t quite capture the essence of traditional Japanese cuisine. The staff were attentive and polite. The washroom was clean.

Avoid - they call themselves karaage chicken but they don’t even no what karaage chicken is - it was all breast meat and dry! And super expensive!

Friendly staff, food cooked & served at a good quality, good choice of music in the background. Had some chicken wings & fries. Cooked perfectly. The waitress was polite served with a smile checked up on us a few times to make sure everything was okay. Very happy with the service & quality of food.

Great service the staff make you feel welcome, escort you to your seats & provide exceptional customer service. The food was perfectly cooked, really enjoy the katsu curry. Staff check on you throughout your time in the restaurant ensuring you are happy with everything. I had no issues. All the staff were very nice. The 2 females dressed in black believe they are managers & the female waitress with a front fringe think her name was Abbie provided me with a brilliant service. Will definitely be back :)

Curry was worse than Chinese chip shop curry. Worst insult is the chicken karaage, how can you call yourself that but do dead unseasoned chicken that's overcooked?

All ways fast and ready with delivery’s. 15 mins parking outside for drivers but takes 5-7 mins to walk to the store or u get a 20 pound fine

Visited last week with a few friends and had such a lovely experience. The food was amazing and the staff are so friendly too! The service was wonderful. The tofu noodles I had were delicious and the atmosphere is very welcoming. would definitely reccomend for a fantastic meal and great service, will be returning in the future :)

Karaage is a very poor version of the food they claim to make. The Karaage chicken itself felt just like eating supermarket chicken nuggets. It wasn't fresh and similarly the very bland chicken chahan was just so disappointing. There are other chains that do similar food for a lot less money (Kokoro and Coishi). Just avoid this place and put your hard earned cash elsewhere. The service was poor due as they did forget to prepare one of our mains. They did belatedly serve this along with a free drink.

Came here for lunch and had a katsu chicken curry.it was really good.piping hot and freshly made.portion was good too.no complaints

Es mi restaurante elegir cada vez que visito el NEC, pero anoche el equipo fue más allá para cuidar de mí. Sin entrar en detalles, un acto de amabilidad ofrecido salvó el día para mi voz muy torpe - yo debía en el escenario agin a la mañana siguiente. Una pequeña cosa hizo toda la diferencia y asegura que volveré a Karaage una y otra vez. ¡Gracias!

First time dining here in Karaage after passing by it multiple times. The restaurant itself has a lovely vibe, really charming and quaint. Staff were very accommodating, especially with us being a group of 7 without a reservation! Amelia was fabulous, an absolute credit to the team! Onto the food: I ordered the Fire cocktail, which was delicious, and had a real nice quick as you sipped it. Very reasonably priced, too, at just £10 for essentially a small tankard of spicy goodness. I also ordered the Reckless Tenders with the hotchiri sauce, vegetable gyoza and the spicy chips. The chips themselves were pretty good, but I would probably try something else next time. The tenders were juicy, spicy, and really flavourful, and the gyoza were a really nice small plate for the side. All in all, a great experience. Will definitely be back soon!

Honestly, just sad about this place. We went for my niece's birthday, she loves sushi - they only had crab sushi on the menu, in a Japanese restaurant. Many of us had Donburi's, which I believe is a pretty easy meal to make.. it was rice, like you'd cook at home, with cubed mixed veg I cannot prove but am certain was frozen veg from a bag, mixed egg (in there somewhere?) and tiny tasteless tofu cubes. Minimal sauce, and when I asked for some we were charged, and the sauce itself was bad - how can you mess up Teriyaki sauce? How anyone would have the audacity to charge £15.50 for something I could have made in 15 mins for less than a pound I have no idea. Service was adequate but the service charge was already on the receipt so we accidentally paid it. (£17!) Would never eat here again, such an incredible disappointment.

We were going to get five guys but I’m glad we chose this instead. Incredible food and quick service! Can’t ask for much more.

Went in with expectations of the chicken being crispy and tender food to be served hot and cooked well. Our chicken was not cooked right it was chewy, the katsu curry was not great. The rice was dry and hard. The lakeri chips were unseasoned and taste like the frozen flavour of the fridge was still in them. Im a little disappointed as the manager did not come over and say sorry. They took the tenders of the bill. But I feel it was wasted time and dinner was spoilt. Don't go there go to nandos you get better chicken

Visitamos en una noche muy ocupada, ya que había un concierto en. El lugar era muy caótico, pero nuestra camarera era brillante. Creo que se llamaba Mia. Muy atento y nos cuidó. Ella nos hizo sentir muy bienvenido y no nos apresuró. Ella nos ayudó con nuestras opciones de menú y explicó todo. La única observación que haría es el comportamiento del gerente. Estaba gritando al personal frente a los clientes y no les tenía respeto. También necesitan arreglar el aire acondicionado. Hacía un calor ridículo ahí dentro.

It's Food that has been left all day after cooking no flavour not authentic it actually taste like it was cooked from frozen. Chicken hard chewy flavourless rice tasted like 2 minutes microwave rice it's a waste of money, overpriced rubbish don't eat here. Edit : there is a reason why you have many bad reviews 👍🏻

Food and service were both as brilliant as each other. Kimchi was just perfect. Very authentic to what would be served in Japan. Great place to reminisce about when we have previously been to Japan.

A beautifully decorated with very friendly staff and amazing food. My only negative would be that music is a bit loud, which isn't a major issue but when you sit right under a speaker it can be a much. However I would recommend this to anyone who like Japanese food as it has a good selection, there's a few restrictions with allergens but you won't be lost to find something to enjoy. They also have one of my favourite beers Asahi, which is a classic Japanese beer and goes really well with fried food. The fried chicken isn't greasy and has a very light coating that makes it a lot easier to eat with chopsticks. The food is fantastic and has a very authentic feel to it.

My husband and I visited for dinner yesterday evening and were looked after by the lovely Mia. She was very friendly, knowledgeable and attentive to our needs. She answered all of our questions relating to menu items and ensured we enjoyed our visit. Can't rate her highly enough. She's a real asset to the restaurant!

Probably the worst Karaage I have ever eaten… could almost be classed as false advertising as the chicken is not marinated before breading like authentic Karaage (had this confirmed by the manager)… just chicken BREAST (not thigh like traditional Karaage) …. With a knock off KFC style breading … tasted like a dry Iceland style chicken. Yaki Soba has no flavour … no sesame seeds and not good to eat at all and £16.50 for a small box is extortionate , tastes like a cook at home chinese kit from Asda! Empty restaurant during the 6 weeks holidays. Lovely decor but thats where the positives end!

So disappointed with my experience yesterday at Karaage. Food was absolutely on point, really good. However half way through my birthday meal a woman was seated next to us who would not stop coughing, i'm not a germaphobe or anything of the sort, enfact i didn't even notice the first 5 times, until when i did bring it up with my friend she mentioned that the other guest had been coughing constantly. The staff had even noticed and ran over and asked the woman if she needed a drink or anything whilst she was coughing, After another 10 minutes of this i approached staff and asked if i could just clear up my bill for everything that i had eaten and just be refunded for some wings that i hadn't eaten once the woman had coughed about 20 times right next to me. so £11 off a £95 bill. I didn't even mention the 2 drinks that hadn't been finished or the food that i could no longer eat. I was told by who i assume is the manager that unfortunately that isn't their policy, if food has been served it's been served and has to be paid for. This seemed very unjustified and i don't feel like i was being an unruly guest or demanding too much. This is actually the first time i've ever complained in 31 years. So in summary the food at Karaage @ resorts world is absolutely great and the service was also great, Unless you have a problem with your meal, in which case you're SOL.

Food was pretty expensive in my opion and that small plate was £8 which i don't think was worth it. Food was yum but burger was very dry and not much taste. Our server gave us the bill to pay but never told us the total amount or about the £5 service fee added on? i had no clue about that so why am i giving £5 for someone to walk 5 steps from a kitchen like at least tell me first

Absolutely the worst karaage chicken we've ever had. It was made from dry and overcooked chicken breast as can be seen in the picture. The chicken was tasteless itself and barely consumable with the sauce which was way too overpowering. The bubble tea was nice though.

My own experience after 1st visit. Low rating due to adding a 10% service charge automatically. This isn't the US or London it's a shopping mall outside Birmingham. And in my view it's not ok that the customer can ask for it to be taken off, one shouldn't have to be put into the position in the first place. It pressurises customers and alienates. If I choose to tip for good service, it should be at own free . But it was high prices for mediocre food + 10% on top.

I recently visited this restaurant and had quite a mixed experience. Upon arrival, we were greeted by a waiter who escorted us to the worst seat possible. When we requested to sit elsewhere, we were told that those seats were reserved for groups of four only. After some discussion, they eventually agreed to split a table of four into two tables of two, which improved the situation somewhat. The food arrived promptly I found the dish over seasons and very salty. One major point of contention for me was the automatic 10% service charge added to the bill. In the UK, employees receive a wage, unlike in the US where tips are a significant part of the income. I believe it should be my choice whether to tip based on the service provided, rather than the restaurant making that decision for me. It’s unlikely i would return or recommend this place to others.

We dined here after an event with 6 people. Restaurants looked great, service was ok. However the food was absolutely unforgivable. We ordered quite a mixture of items on the menu. For an restaurant calling itself Karaage, you'd expect at least the Karaage is good. No, all of our chicken was dry, the food does not taste authentic, infact, it's comparable to frozen chicken nuggets, which is what they call Karaage in this restaurant. We spend a total of £170 and left still hungry, weirdly enough, there's also a 10% service charge that was never mentioned anywhere, which we were told before paying, that's not discretionary. All in all, would not recommend, go have a burger next door or get the Vietnamese upstairs.

Might aswell buy your side at Iceland and put it together that what the food looks like . The service from staff was very unpleasantly rude and lazy .The manager was very rude and needs more training. The manager was making employees rush customers out of the restaurant more than in the restaurant .Depending on someone to manage your business like this is not good for business. Wont be visiting anytime soon.

The food was terrible considering the price. The karaage tasted exactly like frozen chicken nuggets, with too much breading and no flavour. The texture of the yaki soba was all wrong - it was wet and overcooked - I suspect that dish was cooked straight from frozen too. The chicken was so tough and chewy we didn't eat it. The staff were nice, and the manager offered us 20% off due to the quality of the food. That's the only reason I'm giving 2 stars.

Had a delicious dinner and will definitely be back as there is so much more on the menu that we want to try. Staff and service all lovely and really helpful.

I booked an evening meal for my group after setting up for an event in the NEC. When we arrived at the restaurant we were told the booking was cancelled because it was a busy day and I had missed the call asking me to confirm the booking. Upon checking, I had been sent a text at 5pm giving me a 45min window to confirm whilst in the middle of setting up a trade stand. The restaurant did manage to fit us in soon after and we had an average meal. The reason for the low rating was the attitude of the member of staff who spoke to me. I was perfectly calm and was just trying to clarify the situation but he immediately got defensive and told me that I should have answered the message because it's their policy on busy nights. I asked if that was stated in the confirmation email I received and he told me it wasn't but they have to do that because they don't take deposits. I asked if there was an option to pay a deposit and was told no. If I had known confirmation was needed on the day, I would happily have called to confirm - I had booked the table because I knew it would be busy that evening. The poor attitude and mediocre service means we will not be visiting again.

The problem was the food. We went when it first opened and felt the karage was fresh and worth a second visit. This time probably due to speeding up the cooking process it's not the same. It came quite soggy and it tasted like frozen chicken nuggets. The katsu curry was good, takoyaki just tasted like a ball of mayonnaise and I couldn't really taste the octopus if any, the gyoza was cold and they steamed it instead of frying it. Mixed sushi came with some sushi that has just spring onion as filling!

We tried here whilst at the game expo last year (2023). Wasn’t overly thrilled by the meals. The chicken I had was ok, but not worth raving about. Service was really slow too and this wasn’t at a peak time either.

Extremely poor value for the quality of food served. I had the Katsu prawn starter which were very basic and I'd guess pre-made and frozen. Then the chicken burger as a main which was fine but came with a tiny portion of chips which hadn't been seasoned. When only ordering two things, in a half empty restaurant, the "it comes when it comes" is fairly annoying with the main arriving moments after the starter.

The food is always so nice here, unfortunately the service is not. Serving staff need teaching how to give good customer service. It’s a hard industry, i know , however being polite and putting on a smile doesn’t hurt.

Visited for lunch yesterday and will definitely be returning! The staff were friendly, and helpful. Huge portions and fast service. The food was freshly cooked, hot, and very tasty. The katsu curry was slightly with perfect chicken. Yakisoba was tasty as well. All in all, a lovely experience.

During a very busy period i popped by to get a place for one and was happy to take a place at the bar. I was served so quickly and food was absolutely fantastic I really recommend Sosu Ae with teriyaki sauce, 3 strips is ample and steamed rice as a side dish You will get a serving plate to serve your food and pour in sauce from your bowl of sosu ae I topped this with a large glass of merlot all for about £22.00. Absolutely delicious meal with a pleasant zing of ginger and spring onions Super service, price and food The people next to me asked what i was eating as they were older and regretted ordering a burger and fries as they didnt know what to order. Hope this helps

Visited here last week for an evening meal, will definitely be returning!!! The staff are polite and friendly but also efficient, ensure you understand the menu, offer recommendations and they're always ready to assist with a smile. The food was delicious, freshly cooked, hot and most importantly extremely tasty!! Chicken was super crispy and the sauces were all full of flavour. Furikake Fries defo worth a try! All in all a lovely experience. Was not busy when we visited at 7pm on a weekday, however we were not rushed out, or rushed to pay, and were allowed to relax and chat even after we had finished our food.

My partner and I visited this restaurant during a very busy time. Japanese cuisine is our absolute favourite so we've been to a few other restaurants in the past. We arrived just before the queues started so we got any table we could. I felt we didn't wait too long to be served and food was pretty standard and yummy. Can't go wrong with average. Very little vegiterian options but I'd still love to come back and try the other options.

Walked into Karaage, I was drawn in by the beautiful decorations outside, walked in to see the blossom tree and instantly impressed. Ordered a Chicken Katsu curry and it came within ten minutes, it was presented well and was delicious. The staff were all friendly and made me feel welcome.

Lovely restaurant. Food was astonishingly fresh, tasted like it had just been battered minutes after ordering. Portion size was absolutely value for money. Decor and atmosphere are charming and the restaurant is clean and tidy, no sticky tables! Service was friendly, quick and efficient without being overbearing. There was a minor mistake with the order and the staff immediately apologies and rectified the issue with no fuss whatsoever, extremely impressed with the customer service. Will be back to visit anytime we're in resorts world.
