Have been to Juniper several times and always found the staff very welcoming, the food lovely and the atmosphere friendly yet private. Staff leave you to enjoy the meal and don't hurry you out whenever you finish. Highly recommend.

Wow! What a find! A local restaurant that is so good I want to keep it a secret - but also want our local business to succeed. The chefs are great, the food is equally delicious. The menu is sensible and very well priced. The 3 course lunch is a bargain. Danni, our host/server/waitress was exceptionally good. We have been twice in just 3 weeks. It is that good.

Absolutely brilliant love it here

First time at the restaurant and it's a hidden gem. We went for my daughter's birthday and there 5 of us and my 2 year old granddaughter. The majority of us ate from the Sunday menu but I also ordered some ginger bhalis for the table which were out of this world. Similar to an onion bhaji but lovely and moist with a kick of, you've guessed it.... Ginger. I had the chicken bake as a starter which was plentiful and tasty. However, my main of pork chop was cooked to perfection. It was a 10oz chop, more of a t bone than a chop but the meat was nice and moist. It's incredibly easy to overcook pork and it becomes dry and tasteless. The pork came with chip, mushrooms and tomato, with a spoonful of dijon mustard. My granddaughter had the chicken gijons which were clearly hand made from chicken breast and looked tasty.... She devoured them which is always a good sign. The service was impeccable and although a challenge having dinner with a 2 year old, the staff were lovely and helpful with her. She even got some oranges when she behaved. Really pleasant experience and a hidden gem of a restaurant.

Lovely little restaurant, first time back here in a few years and the food was amazing!! Will definitely be back, and will try not to leave it as long this time.

Been here a couple of times. Once for Sunday lunch, good portion size, the beef was cooked to perfection. Food on both occasions very tasty good value and amazing service.

Went here with my angry Italian girlfriend and left with a very happy Italian girlfriend. Excellent food, service and atmosphere. Thank you to Mike (chef) for the recommendation. We will highly recommended Juniper to anytime and look forward to returning soon.

We were invited by friends. Really interesting menu, fabulous food, beautifully presented. We each had a different dish, all delicious, but strongly recommend the cod loin with choritzo, and the dover sole.

Every time i go here the food gets better! This place is amazing! the food, the quality & ingredients, the staff that go that bit further to help and assist. Exeptional food and a great place, food, staff, atmosphere are all fantastic. Always come away from here happy and cannot wait to return again and again.

Lovely evening dinner here tonight! Family of 7 of us all had 3 courses and was beautiful. Waitress was lovely and very attentive, good menu knowledge , drinks were topped up and overall very good service. Food was exceptional! Every bite was full of flavour and love! Good quality ingredients and every aspect of the dishes was done to perfection Best spot in Wigan and definitely worth the price

The menu had an excellent choice, and the food was divine. Lovely atmosphere and very busy on a Sunday afternoon. I recommend booking so as not to be disappointed. Will definitely return.

Nice little lunch for two on a relatively quiet Friday. We were greeted and seated immediately and had water for the table straight from the fridge straight away. The manager /server could not have been more pleasant and helpful. Our two starters, moules marinieres and the goats cheese tart turned up promptly and were both outstanding. Our mains, the Satay chicken breast and the sole followed quickly, but without us feeling hurried, and again were both beautifully presented and delicious. We were too full to justify a dessert, so instead had a cocktail each, which were expertly mixed... I cannot praise this place highly enough. The decor is modern yet relaxed, the food as good as anything I've ever had in some top London restaurants, and the menu itself is thoughtfully diverse enough to encourage trying something out of your normal comfort zone. Give it a try, you won't regret it...

Firstly the greeting. The staff are genuinely friendly and knowledgeable about the food and drinks on offer. They are a credit to Juniper Restaurant. Next, the building is a converted cottage but you don’t feel like the tables are sat on top of one another. Best of all though is the food. We treated ourselves to the Chateaubriand for 2 and OMG it was melt in your mouth. You could cut the meat with a butter knife and was so so tasty. (Sorry Bruno but there were no scraps to bring home for you). No matter how full you feel, don’t leave without trying a sweet. They are all delicious. The chef and owner Chris really takes pride in his restaurant and it shows. We are so lucky to have this restaurant on our doorstep. Sorry no photos, we were too busy eating 😋😋😋😋😋

We live in the States, but visit family in the area and we never miss an opportunity to have lunch at the Juniper when we are over in England.

First ever visit to Juniper tonight with my sister and aunty. Accommodated us with a ground floor table as my sister has mobility issues. I had the Persian Lamb which was absolutely amazing. All food was fantastic and service was excellent. Can't wait to come back 😊

Lovely hidden gem of a restaurant. Having been to quite a few restaurants I can easily say this is up there at the top of my list. Never disappointed with the excellent food quality, taste and feel of the place. I always return as never been let down. Wonderful staff and great value.

First time we have been here, even though it is on our doorstep. Went for Sunday lunch and requested a few small changes to the set menu. This was done without hesitation by the lovely, pleasant staff. Nice and clean throughout, service great and the food was First class. We will be going again very soon and already looking forward to taking our friends with us.

My wife and I went to juniper for lunch today. The table service by Molly was first class, friendly and she told us about the dishes. We had the 3 course meal the choices were varied and were excellent we wouldn't hesitate to recommend Juniper to anyone. Thanks and well done

Hubby and I went along for the John O Groats to Lands End night. We were celebrating his birthday. What a night! The food was out of this world. Fine dining which was so beautifully presented and absolutely delicious. The service was excellent , unobtrusive yet attentive. We can’t wait for the next themed evening.

Lovely experience at Junipers, very friendly staff, warm cosy environment with a nice bar area. Good selection on menu, specials and wine/beer menu. Food arrived relatively quickly and was delicious. Price was slightly higher than average however worth every penny and intend on returning very soon.

The food was exceptional as always and the service super very friendly and welcoming. We will 100% be coming back. The only downside was the noise. It is a small venue and so the noise bounces off the walls. That's fine, but what was really annoying was the staff constantly sorting the metal cutlery right beside us all night. They were throwing the cutlery into the basket and it was so loud and drove us both mad! Sounds stupid, and it won't stop us going back because the food is so nice, but I'll be asking to sit upstairs next time.

I simply cannot fault this place. The staff here are extremely welcoming and friendly, the atmosphere is cosy, warm and quiet, and the food here is simply Devine. We will definitely be coming again!!

We went for Sunday lunch. So glad we tried this restaurant. Unlike most of the restaurants/ pubs in our local area (and even further afields), often than not, after looking at the menu offering, do you think why bother going out when you can do the same thing with better quality produce at a fraction of the cost and can have a drink without worrying about drinking and driving? Perhaps it is not cost of living crisis that prevent people from going out but a lack of interesting offers on the menu? Juniper has a good selection of starters and mains and offer a good choice of supplements for fancier choices. I had the skate wings which is not something you often see. Service was lovely, the restaurant was cozy and food was delicious. Highly recommend Juniper.

We came here as it was our wedding anniversary & what a lovely memory to cherish.staff attentive without being obtrusive.The icing on the cake was two homemade "fab" lollies and complimentary mocktails for our anniversary. Can't praise the restaurant enough. A huge thank you from both of us. We will definitely be coming back......

The food was lovely and our Waiter was very helpful. My wife made a wrong choice of main with her aversion of fat, totally our mistake but the Waiter asked if we would have something different so my wife changed to fish which was lovely. Would definitely recommend this place.

Never had a bad meal or bad experience here. If there ever is a problem it's always very small and insignificant but the staff are always prompt to correct it to give the best experience. I've been many times now and yet to have a single small bad thing to say. High quality food, fast and attentive staff. Amazing!

Visited this restaurant with friends and WOW absolutely stunning. Some of the best food I’ve ever eaten and the service and atmosphere was fantastic. Would definitely recommend visiting this hidden gem. Easily the best restaurant in the North West. Whilst there, it was amazing to see how the restaurant adapted to intimate couples, a gathering of friends and even a 70th birthday party. Simply superb.

Absolutely fantastic place to have meals and drinks. Our 5 ladies had lunch on a Saturday upstairs and we thoroughly enjoyed the atmosphere, meals and great service. Fully recommended and we'll definitely visit again!

We went for the taster menu and it was top notch. We have been before and the standard of food is second to none!! If you have never tried this place, I would highly recommend. Friendly staff and the head chef Chris is superb. Lovely to chat to him at the end of the meal.

Brilliant as always. Sampled some more dishes and tried the Sunday menu for the first time. Love how often they change the menu, and always happy to try different dishes. The pork belly was well seasoned with sage and onion, paired with champ mash and jus. The fish was perfectly cooked and family members were in love with the chicken wings and noodles salad for starter. I had the caramelised fig creme brulee for dessert, and didn't want it to end. Service was great, and we're more than helpful.

So we literally stumbled upon Juniper on a Tuesday night by accident and what a find!! Upon arrival, were delightfully welcomed by front of house and taken to our table. We were made to feel like old friends even though it was our first time. Juniper is really tastefully decorated and really has a warm cosy feel throughout. We were recommended a lovely red (Montepulciano) that was very reasonably priced and fantastic. Now, onto the food. I had the haggis to start and it truly was a superb starter. Really well thought out and executed perfectly. My wife had the ham hock terrine which was also stunning. Both dishes were presented beautifully and tasted even better. The mains were sublime. My wife had the fillet steak and I went for the Cumbrian lamb rump. These were cooked, presented and tasted like a very high end restaurant. We were both blown away by our dishes. These guys use fab ingredients and cook with passion and flair. I had the caramelised fig Crème Brûlée off the superb dessert menu. Again simply delicious. We also had great banter with other diners which was lovely. Ambience 10/10 - quality without pretence. Food 10/10 - outstanding Service 10/10 - phenomenal service all night Value for money 10/10 - all about perspective but I’ve paid a lot more for a lot less. The night was capped off by a chat with the incredibly humble chefs who should be extremely proud of what is leaving their kitchen. Will we return? 100% YES!

Absolutely outstanding food and service. Just dropped in for impromptu lunch, and could not have been made more welcome. Our starters were brought out very quickly, and were delicious - I had the haggis, and the boss had prawn cocktail. Our mains kept up the high standards, beef shin and seafood crepes. Lovely house wines by the glass rounded off a lunch to remember. Pleasant and efficient service was the cherry on the cake. We will be regulars from here on in....

This is our 3rd new years eve, the food was absolutely gorgeous, the staff are brilliant , nothing is to much trouble for them, highly recommend wouldn't go anywhere else, thank you for a brilliant night xx

We visited for a family meal today. From the moment we walked I. We were treated like we were the only ones there. The food was exceptional. I had the ham hock terrine followed by the Persian beef. Each dish came out like it was perfectly crafted piece of art. My husband had the haggis to start and too was amazing. As a table the food ranged from children’s fish and chips, to the pork rib to burgers, curry and a fish dish. (I forget what it was called but looked and smelt amazing) This by far is one of the best places I have been in a long time.

We took some friends for a birthday lunch. It looks very small from the outside but what a fab place. Every plate that came out of the kitchen was beautifully presented and tasted delicious. The staff were very friendly. We will definately return. We booked on-line and I would suggest to book so that you dont miss out.

The staff are so friendly and helpful nothing is too much trouble. We had the Sunday roast it was delicious. We try to visit at least once a month. Standards never drop. Keep up the good service and quality food and we will keep coming back.Thank you.

Beautiful food. Loved the roast fig starter truly divine. Delicious beef for mains. All served in a lovely setting. Staff were fairly attentive and polite. I do feel this restaurant has potential to become truly top hole if staff adhered to food hygiene regulations. ie hair should be tied up, unpolished nails etc. I also prefer to see a maitre d in a shirt and tie. And staff in proper trousers not leggings. You are such a lovely team. These small adjustments would earn you 5*

Spur of the moment lunchtime venture, and what a pleasure it was. Two course lunch menu, could not have been bettered. Fabulous ham terrine starter with pumpernickel toast, and piccalilli. A main of slow cooked belly pork, in a teriyaki sauce with eastern veg and a spicy rice. What a gem this place is!

What else can I say ,,it was superb, 7 of us went for my husband's 60th treated lovely, food amazing we all loved it thank u juniper

What a delightful little restaurant. Very tastefully decorated and great ambience. My meal was a departure from the norm, and it went down a treat. Easy to miss if you're driving past, and if you are aware of its existence, then parking can be a little tricky. Nevertheless, great little place. Top marks.

I didn't want to post on here, we like this place and the food is consistently good, but I have no response to my 2 Emails to the owner . Our quiet Sunday lunch was spoiled by the waitresses hurling bottles into the recycling behind the bar followed by throwing cutlery into the drawer to the point where we did politely ask her to tone it down. It made little difference and not much of an apology was forthcoming . I know it may seem minor to some but we visit here frequently , have recommended it to many friends and wouldn't like it to put us off. I am sure a quiet word would solve it.
