Julie's Kopitiam in Glasgow City

I’m not sure why we’ve not been here before because the reviews are justifiably effusive in their praise. Food was exceptional. Couldn’t fault any of the dishes. Portions are generous. Prices are very reasonable. Staff really great and helpful. Definitely will return.

Before going forward please note that as we only got a delivery i cannot comment on the in-house experience of going to Julie's which i am sure is wonderful having read all of the reviews. When our food came it was very cold and this was not a great starting point however i fully appreciate that the restaurant have very little control over this which is why I hope that people are not deterred from visiting. That being said both me and my partner have been left feeling pretty dissatisfied with the food and felt like it was insanely overpriced for what it was. We ordered the Nasi Goreng, Gyonga curry. While both were perfectly fine, the fact that they charge £14.50 felt a little steep considering we had to order rice separately on top of that. The curry was essentially one uninviting chicken drumstick. The Nasi Goreng was supposed to have chicken and whilst there were small strands of pulled chicken through the dish there was simply not enough. In addition, e also opted for one of the Malaysian pancakes. Again - perfectly fine. However this pancake was £7.50?! Completely understand that everything is more expensive than it once was but there are plenty of other Glasgow Southside restaurants who continue to keep standards high without overcharging customers and this just felt like a bit of a rip off. Overall pretty disappointed and would discourage others from getting takeout from this restaurant.

Three of us booked a table at what we thought would be a nice meal at this small place. We arrived a few minutes early and we were told, in no uncertain terms, to go away and return at the time of our booking. I was genuinely astonished at just how passive aggressive the young lady was. Upon our return we endured the worst service we have ever experienced. The three of us adore Malaysian food and we have travelled throughout that country several times, so you can imagine our disappointment at being served such poor food. However, we weren’t actually served our food at the same time. My wife received her curry a full 40 minutes before I was given what was supposed to be Nasi Goreng. It was not even close and tasted burnt. The third dish appeared about 10 minutes later and was cold! I would definitely not recommend this ridiculous place.

This place deserves a Michelin star in the future. One of the best meals we have. Mind blowing flavours that burst in your mouth in every bite. We lived in Singapore (10 years) and travelled a lot for food and I can say this is the best Nasi Goreng we ever tasted . We enjoyed our visit in Glasgow and I can say I would go back in heartbeat bec of this place (and rest of beautiful restaurants we tried Mother India, Gamba, Miller and Carter and don't forget Tantrums donuts!!!). Glasgow you are beautiful and delicious (definitely more than Edinburgh!). The staffs look after the customers very well, thank you guys for making our trip truly enjoyable.

Visiting Glasgow for a weekend away in mid-December. Came across Julie's in the Michelin guide and others. Although a bus ride out of the city centre it was worth the trip and more. The food was balanced, delicious, and interesting. We had booked a table which was definitely necessary, although empty on the Sunday morning when we arrived at midday, by 10 past people were being turned away. Highly recommend the Roti, it was divine, and loved the bacon and egg Nasi Goreng. The staff were so welcoming and friendly. Value for money is off the charts, what an amazing experience in such an unassuming spot. We will be telling everyone about Julie's! Just a shame we live in London!

Never been before but will definitely go back - cosy wee place with just 4 tables of 2 so I’m glad we booked. The food was excellent - corn fritters with tamarind sauce and dahl with roti. Wanted to visit after seeing the restaurant in the top 30 eats of Glasgow - not disappointed at all! The food was incredible - really reminded me of being a child again. Had such a great atmosphere for such a small place. Staff were super friendly. Cannot recommend enough!

We had a takeaway from this place last night and it was truly the most delicious food! The chicken curry was fresh, fragrant, with the perfect amount of spice, the chicken was perfectly cooked. Absolutely gorgeous. Would highly recommend!

Quite happy with the lovely chicken curry and Nasi Goreng. The beef curry however was truly exceptional, delicious sauce, excellent tender beef. Over the years I have enjoyed a lot of curries, the beef curry was as good as any I've ever eaten! Full marks to the chef, I will be coming back in the future!

Ordered the vegetarian sharing platter with extra potato side. Absolutely brilliant! loads of food, well cooked and very tasty. We will be using again.

We ordered an "eat at home" via itison, from here. We collected it and took it home. First, the prawn crackers were soft and rubbery. Then only two of the ten or so cartons were labelled. Searching through them we discovered our chicken main dish was missing. Immediately phoned in , to be told to phone back on Monday for a refund on that dish. Started cooking and discovered the extras for the starter were also missing. I emailed a complaint to the restaurant that evening, and never got the courtesy of a reply. Not a good saturday night !
