Had a great meal and seriously over ordered. One main can easily be shared. English and Chinese menus, later for the more adventurous.

Absolutely outstanding food. We stumbled across this little gem while walking in town yesterday and sat down for Dim Sum, one of our favourite foods. It’s an absolutely fabulous place, very clean and the food is out of this world. The staff were excellent . Thank you so much.

We absolutely love this restaurant..my friend and I have eaten here three times and the most recent visit was last Thursday 23rd May. I chose pork and vegetables with fried rice. Wow! A lovely taste of garlic hit me straight away. I would highly recommend this meal. My friend had chicken curry (he's not too adventurous) ssshhh don't tell him! He really enjoyed it and I tasted the sauce, it was very good. Enough about the food! The staff are wonderful, smiling and friendly. The best service too, and they were busy upstairs and downstairs. If you love Chinese food, go to Joys Kitchen you won't be disappointed. Well done everyone ❤️❤️

I went to this restaurant twice after spending a few days in Leeds and ordered different dishes. The few dishes we ordered for the second time, my family and I all felt that they were not as delicious as the first time. However, we comforted ourselves that being able to eat decent Chinese food overseas was more appetizing than eating white people’s food. . 😂

Very disappointing. It's rare I write bad reviews. Started with won tong soup which was tasteless and the fillings were soft and lacked flavor. I then had dim sums which were mainly greasy and little flavor. What made it worse, was I told the person at the desk,who to gave a tiny amount off, but showed absolutely no interest in what I was telling her. When I said aren't you bothered about my bad experience she just looked at her colleague and shrugged. Won't be going back again

The stir-fried water spinach was cold. It came out within two minutes of ordering. It turned out that the previous table didn’t want it. My friend recommended it. It was stir-fried and the beef was hot and sour. It was full of ginger and there weren’t even a few pieces. It was a complete surprise to the waiter. The family and their children were playing very loudly next to our table and it was very noisy.

This place is legit! As with all Chinese restaurants, avoid the English only menu and eat the food stuff!

Visited here with friends before going to the arena. Staff were very friendly explaining the three different menus. Can’t fault any of the dishes we had. All were fleshly cook and hot. The only fault I can come up with is the waiter wasn’t really sure if some foods were cooked in but oil. Will definitely return when I next go to Leeds

Got seated and there were 2 menus on the table then they brought a 3rd one making things more confusing it's hard to really figure out what is a main course. I ended up ordering some ox maw thing unaware that it's basically tripe some dumbo text underneath could of helped making me aware of what I was ordering. Took awhile to actually get our order taken but apart from my weird taste in food by my mistake thinking I was ordering ox meat instead of stomach it all came looking pretty good.

Went here a couple times and they have delivered with the meal, service and the ambience was great. The only thing the prices were a bit much also find that after your paying so much tax is still added unto the total price.

I asked my friend to recommend a Dim Sum place in Leeds and here is what she suggested. A very fancy set-up unlike the traditional place we used to go in Manchester. I was a bit nervous as we saw everyone around ordering dishes instead - but we still went for Dimsum and I am glad to make such a choice! Super impressive with the Oozing custard bun as I always crave for running custard but was always disappointed. I also found Chinese Dough Sticky Cheung Fun pretty nice and this is also a rare one in many other. Prawn dumplings and Siumai were both nice just not exceptionally WOW nevertheless still up to standard. What I won’t recommend is the crispy fried squid. It came in simmering hot but was overcooked. Also the squid became dry and solid and we found it hard to chew. It was £35 for two people which is a fair price. Quite worth the visit given that their food quality is already so much better than many other Chinese Dimsum place in the northwest. I would definitely come back to try more kinds of dimsum and dishes next time!

Visited here with friends last weekend, it’s a bit of a cattle market! Tables squeezed in very tight. Had a chicken noodle dish and found the chicken very slimy. Really quite expensive for the quality of food you’re getting. The service is quite cold, apart from the lovely girl who took our order I found everyone else quite abrupt! Will not return, and would not recommend.

We had a lovely meal, very tasty. We were impressed how many asian people eat here and of different age groups. Being typical british people, we ate off the menu we know, but it would have been nice to have some advice on the more authentic menu, as what we were looking at other people eating, far out weighed what we were eating.

I really liked the dim sum and noodles, it was very nice and I enjoyed it a lot. Waiters I talked with were friendly. Had a great meal would recommend.

Food is good, but their service is shockingly slow and rudest staff who talks about you in their language. Really uncomfortable. Will buy takeaway from them, but management must do something about their staffs attitude.

We have visited Joy’s Kitchen several times and have always been impressed by the quality of the food, the cheerful staff, the atmosphere and the general cleanliness of the place. The menus can take a little bit of navigation with some “interesting” dishes (pork fat end for instance). Some dishes are well spicy - be careful. We have not had anything other than an enjoyable meal in very pleasant surroundings served by staff who always appear happy. A real treat. Would we go back? A definite “Yes”.

The best authentic Chinese restaurant in Leeds. We received three menus - regular, Chinese, and dim sum one. Regular menu is less spicy if you prefer, but I would rather recommend Chinese one. Great food, massive portion, full of flavour, and very tasty. Good service. Chinese tap beer Sun Lik is available here.

One of my favourite restaurants I've been to in a long time, it felt really authentic. They have 2 menus and as standard they will usually give you the English only menu, but do yourself a favour and get a Chinese menu (which also has English translations on it). It's much larger and has some really good stuff on it. Ask the servers to recommend stuff as well, they really know their stuff. Everyone here was so friendly and every recommendation was absolute fire. Honestly the most incredible and unique meal I've had in ages. I can't wait to go back.

The best Chinese food I have eaten in the UK. The food is just really good, I can never leave without taking something for lunch the next day as well. It mostly caters for a Chinese audience. Any time we've been there, about 90% of the guests were Chinese, which is a great sign in my opinion! Not all the servers speak English, but they are helpful and will get someone to help if needed. For the quality and portion sizes, it's also very reasonably priced.

We only had limited time so they accommodated us brilliantly bringing food all at once and turning it around in 30 mins so we could catch train. Food was nice, bit pricey but overall would go back and hopefully next time have more of a leisurely pace to order etc. Service was excellent though the poor reviews are certainly not what we encountered

Other than a bit of unfortunate drama on arrival, when another family was trying to leave without paying, and the owner was naturally rather upset and angry, we had a lovely meal. The restaurant was pleasantly full of diners - I even bumped into a former bride whose wedding I had shot on an island in Lake Toba, North Sumatra - so an eventful experience all round. Good food too and a delightful young man serving us!

After seeing the manager bring people upstairs I asked her when will my place be available. Shegave me a full speech about my space is clearing up and I should understand them being busy and I should be able to expect to wait for at least 15 minutes and if I am not happy with this arrangement now I can leave. It is not what I have originally agreed on before at all! After she realized that she made a mistake of mistaking us as the ten people group, she made no attempt to apologize for the least bit!! This level of customer service is completely unaccepetable especially when I have been there twice and left a 20 pound deposit for the third time. Usually they also charge for a service fee with indifferent staff who perform a service as any other ordinary place who do not charge a service fee. I do not know why they would ask for a service fee without even give customers a mediocre service. And now the manager started yelling at people and basically asked regular customers to leave!! I do not know how this level of service is tolerable to anyone. I actually like the food even though some suggest that it is premade and been frozen. Now I will never go back there again. It is difficult to have faith in their food when the level of service is an absolute minus.

Went there to celebrate Chinese New Year. Even though it is busy, they are quick to clear the table and let us sit down. The food came out fairly quickly and they are absolutely delicious!

Disappointing experience. After dutifully waiting in the queue for over an hour for my table I was shocked to see others who were way behind me in the q being promoted ahead only because they were a large group meaning more revenue. Shamefully greedy.

Popped in as I’m a huge fan of dim sum and was not disappointed. Big, authentic selection and good options for the timid to the adventurous. Service was speedy. Would recommend!

I was excited to try this new restaurant particularly as it seemed fairly traditional and we were not disappointed by the food which was very tasty, well presented and sensible portions. But we felt a little unloved by the slightly unfriendly service. We will however be back. UPDATE we've been back several times and the service is much improved although not always ideal. The food is excellent

First time visiting by traveling to Leeds, walk past this restaurant and saw my favorite spicy Chinese dishes so we tried!!! The food was very yummy, and spicy as we expected!! Highly recommend!!!

They have a decent selection on their menu but the staff is a bit stiff with variations of dishes. The dim sum is delicious and my friends generally enjoy it there. I frequent the restaurants in Leeds a lot and it’ standards are good enough. When it’s not to my liking, it’s just not to my liking rather than me saying it didn’t taste nice. I find the congee a little too runny and weirdly the fish fillet congee only contains that and nothing else (would have thought some sort of veg), the Xiao long baos should maybe have a little cup at bottom to catch the sauce that usually gets lost when they split the Bao during cooking process or when picking it up with chopsticks and on the last occasion the satay whelks were very dry and chewy lacking sauce. This isn’t going to stop us coming here as the staff does take on board little criticisms like these which shows good service and improvements as in certain there’s always teething issues.

Very rude waitress, asking us to pay the optional service charge because she managed to fix her own mistakes???? The girl took the order for our food wrongly, when we gave her the feedback she said the restaurant actually didnt have the dish we ordered. When we pointed out at the dish on the menu, she then blamed us that All OF US was not paying ENOUGH attention when she confirmed the order for our table :) We then went forward and said we can have the wrong dish. She said oke then left. After few minutes, the kind guy came back and said he would give us the correct dish. The girl then came back AGAIN and keep blaming us that it was our fault and NEXT TIME we should pay more attention??? (Definitely no next time). So disappointed with the attitude of the waitress, we decided not to pay the OPTION service charge. However, when paying the bill, the same girl said we did not pay enough and we have to pay the service charge BECAUSE she changed the dish for us. We refused and she kept repeating that we have to pay the service because it was our fault, how surprising! When we asked to see the manager, she finally left and went downstairs, yelling with her colleague in Chinese (which everyone knows what was the topic about). What a horrific experience!

Food was pretty good but do not order the scrambled egg hofun, the flavour was very good but no meat or anything there was just a few pieces of lettuce in it. The wonton soup was very mediocre and the charsiu in our noodles tasted very old. However the service and atmosphere was very nice & waitresses all very nice

Our first visit here and we weren’t overly enamoured to be rushing back. Our starters (Salt & Pepper Ribs/Wanton/Hot & Sour soup) were very nice indeed. There were no particular issues with the service for the duration of our stay, up until we left. The main courses (Beef Brisket/Sliced Beef & Chilli from the authentic Chinese menu) were not really to our liking, but we acknowledge this isn’t the fault of the restaurant. The beer (draught Singha) was perhaps the worst imaginable and at just South of £6 per pint not acceptable - it was flat and it tasted as it would if the beer lines were not clean. What actually prompted this reluctant review was the particularly rude conduct from one of the waitresses. The bill was £68.10 with a discretionary 10% service charge, totalling £74.11. We left £70.00 in cash and left feeling a little underwhelmed, however we had elected not to complain about the beer because they were busy and replacement beer would likely have been no better. Once outside, the waitress followed us and challenged us (rather embarrassingly) in front of at least a dozen people who were waiting at a bus stop directly outside, about why we hadn’t paid the £74.11 bill total. I explained that the bill was £68.10, the rest (in their own words on the bill) was a discretional charge, and that we had paid £70.00 which was more than we were obliged to pay. I would potentially have rated as four rather than three if not for the inappropriate conduct of the waitress and the management really do need to address this at their earliest opportunity. I actually run a hospitality business and I was reluctant to leave a review at all, however I’m still annoyed about the harassment as we left and on that basis we are unlikely to return to try other things from the menu and avoid their draught beer. It’s a shame because things did start quite well.

Fantastic. Food is authentic and tastes good. Reminds me of Hong Kong. Drinks are good. Prices are reasonable. There are a couple of large carparks nearby, so it's quite a convenient location.

Wow what a amazing find. 3 different menus, traditional authentic Chinese cuisine, a English version, plus another additional menu. Lots of local Chinese people eating in which told us all we needed to know. We ate as a couple, we had mains, sides and drinks the bill was extremely reasonable. The service phenomenal, our meal was on the table within 15 mins and we were gobsmacked at the portions. Incredibly tasty, mouthwatering and definitely will be going again when in Leeds.

We went for the Dim sum, which was excellent. On looking round, we were interested in what others were eating! It would be good to have a taster menu, almost a chinese tapas! The waitresses were cheerful and as helpful as they could be. However, their level of english made communication difficult.

Today is very busy, but they give us the number for waiting the queue. Even we wait for 20 minutes, but I am very satisfied with the Grilled fish, even it’s spicy. But it’s really amazing, plenty of vegetables in it. And the traditional Chinese dessert is tasty.

The food is usually decent, the decor is pleasant and the service is usually quite good. This evening though it was very busy - too busy - and a few of us had to wait a very long time for our main course - so long in fact that everyone else had already finished. We managed to persuade them to remove the service charge from the bill - pointing out that it is discretionary, according to the bill - but even this took a bit of effort. We didn't let it ruin our evening, but it was quite a disappointing service really on this occasion. Being very busy isn't really a good excuse when serving food is all you do, all day every day. A sensible policy would be to limit customer numbers to realistic levels in future so serving staff aren't overrun. 01 Nov 2023: UPDATE in response to the restaurant's reply: Please do not seek to minimize or misrepresent our unpleasant experience in your restaurant. We have reduced our rating for your service to one star, and the overall rating down to two stars, in light of your response, which we feel misrepresents the situation. It would have been better simply to have accepted that your service on this occasion fell below an acceptable standard, and to have apologised sincerely and honestly. We are now even more reluctant to use your services again.

Wow! Didn’t know this restaurant existed until me and my friends stumbled abroad this last night! It was incredible. Such friendly service, gorgeous food and big portions at great value. Leeds has been badly missing a great Chinese restaurant- that’s no longer the case!

This is our favourite Chinese restaurant. We have been a few times now and never disappointed. The food we order is traditional Chinese which is poles apart from the curry and chips type dishes. It really is delicious. The place is spotless and friendly staff. They serve alcohol too. Highly recommended.

We've been before and really enjoyed and the service great. However, today we where waiting almost 2hrs for our mains which only arrived when we asked for the bill to pay for the starters we had. So we've took them in take away boxes, because we didn't want to sit there any longer. Everyone around us who arrived some time after us received their food very quickly. The manager provided us with vouchers to use "next time" we go...

Visited with a friend today, very authentic Chinese food. Ordered some SiChuan dishes and they were delicious! Excellent Service too, deco very pleasant and clean. definitely take the whole family there soo , thanks to Joy’s kitchen.

The dim sums are at good standards, delicious of course. We just ordered 5 dim sum, all are good if the egg tarts could be reheated would be perfect.

Joy's kitchen has fantastic dim sum and very good Sichuan food. It's rare to find a place that does both well. It's very clean and modern and the staff are nice. I'd recommend it wholeheartedly! I can't speak to the British Chinese food there, but they do have it if you're with somebody less adventurous.

This is a great place to eat. I've been twice now, once for dim sum and once for a full meal and both times were great. Food is delicious, staff are really quick and friendly and the place is done out really nicely. I would definitely recommend a visit.

Speedy and curtius service, food first class

Good and authentic Hong Kong style dim sum served here. I haven’t seen fish roe on sui mai for a long time! The rice rolls are very well rolled and thinly wrapping the filling. Excellent skill!

We came to this place on a recommendation and have to say we had a great lunch , the decor was great , place was clean and tidy , waiters were all attentive and served us well at all times , the price was very reasonable for 4 of us and we definitely will come again

Could have been dining in old school down town Kowloon, simply amazing Dim Sum. A busy, bustling authentic taste of the fragrant harbour.

The service was quick and efficient, and the food was good. The only disappointing part was that we were asked to sit at the very back of the restaurants near the toilets when other tables were available.

Absolutely gorgeous food and brilliant, friendly service. We travelled up today from Barnsley to Leeds based on the reviews, it's safe to say we weren't disappointed. The lovely waitress gave us different menus and explained that each one was different, one was dim sum, the other traditional Chinese food and the other the Anglo/Chinese food that most restaurants/takeaways do in the UK. This was fabulous for us as I like to try new things and opted for the Chinese menu but my wife prefers the more familiar food. Both our food was incredible, my wife's was much better than the usual food we are served in the typical restaurant/takeaways. The portions were very generous too. The drinks were very reasonably priced and I got a pot of Jasmine tea for £1 and the pot must have held a litre of tea. The final bill was very reasonable and as we visited on a Sunday, we got free parking. We'll certainly be back to Joy's Kitchen to try more of the amazing food. 😍 Thanks for a lovely, fairly priced meal.
