Johnny White's Fish And Chips in Newtownabbey

I was happily surprised by this establishment. I read a lot of negative reviews but didn’t want to argue with my local host who insisted on going there. The place could do with good coat of paint but we had very nice fish and the chips where excellent. We also had a battered sausage this was on the small size but it was nice. We would be very happy to return

Fish was allot more batter than fish, very poor quality. Went back and staff apologised and gave a fresh fish which was spot on perfect. Shame having to go back again but great that the issue was sorted professionally in the end. Don’t know how they managed to be that blind and serve such a poor quality. Ridiculous.

The chips must have eaten half of the fish. I’ve been here before and it was ok but just ok. This time, a good part of the fish was missing and a high percentage of greasy batter was what the fish consisted of. I’ll simply never ever be back at Johnny White’s. Very bad.

Everything was cold and soggy, had to be reheated at home. Member of staff wearing gloves which is fine but not when lifting food containers and food whilst taking money of customers same time with the same clothes. Very unhygienic in these times we're in......

Ordered a battered sausage supper to take away, but when I opened it I had been given two chicken goujons and chips. Goujons managed to be both dry and greasy, and the meat was a strange shade of grey. Needless to say the most of it ended up in the bin. Won’t be back.

Very disappointing service from start to finish. The staff member on the phone was unable to accurately take our order even after carefully explaining it at least twice. When in the shop we witnessed extremely rude and unprofessional behaviour in front of customers to what looked like a new start who was extremely friendly and helpful, gave service with a smile. Young kids have to start somehere and this behaviour was totally unacceptable I hope they are never spoken to the way the young girl at the tills was. We live in Ballyclare, however will definitely not be back, Our, order was wrong on collection and the attitude we received was disgusting. Reccommend the girl on tills looks for a new job, do not stay with ignorant co-workers. Happy to discuss further if management wish to contact me by email. Appalling customer service and horrendous attitude to co-workers, you were totally bullying that girl on tills disgusting behaviour. Will definately spread the word on this one.

Looking forward to a tasty takeaway on Saturday night but was disappointed with under cooked chips, it was busy and orders were piling up hence the reason the chips were undercooked, fish was alright but burger wasn't hot enough as it was ready before the rest, will try one of the other town's chippy next time

Why wear plastic gloves to handle food when you; answer phone which has never been cleaned while rubbing your face, Handel cash then Handel food, then go out the back for a drag on your cigarette while running you hand on a bin sitting in the door way to the back, coming back in again hand across the top of the bin checked what was going on in the fryer and went out the back... don’t know what happened after that I left without my order ! Bon Apatite ! Never be back!

A very nice chip shop in the heart of Ballyclare. Reasonably priced and free lunchtime deliveries. The food is as you would expect from an excellent fish and chip shop. Staff are very friendly and service is quick and fuss free.

Had a carry out fish supper tonight and it was absolutely horrible. The fish batter was very very soggy with no crunch at all and the fish inside was slimy and tasteless. Even the chips were pale and limp. No crispness at all. Overpriced and underwhelming. Will never eat out of here again.

Portion size terrible for the price 3 bits of diced fried onion on the hotdog and no tomato relish No cheese on the burgers No tomato relish on them Asked for no salt and vinegar was drowned in vinegar Over priced for such poor quality of food won't be back I even asked on the phone for the order to be repeated to me to make sure it was correct

Food very good especially there fish beautiful & fresh, burgers too. Do a variety & kids meals too. Delivery to your home. Good quality food & value for money 💷. So next time you are in Ballyclare give it a go you won't be disappointed.

No meat in the pastie, just a potato pastie. Very greasy. Bread baps are the cheap fall apart type. Best to avoid. Other chippys in ballyclare are nicer

Staff hygiene very poor. Hair not tied back or covered. Long painted nails and very poor manners.use to be best chippy in town and is now the worst. Greasy chip ends and fish that is very heavily battered.

I'm hard to please when I buy from Fish and Chip restaurants/carry outs but I can honestly say, I'm never disappointed with the fish I buy from Johnny Whites. I like my fish lightly cooked and they cook it whatever way you ask.

Good quality fast food. Freshly cooked and good sized portions. Chicken Fillet Burgers especially good. Extensive menu and friendly staff.

Ordered food online 45 mins later had to ring to ask how long it would be to be told by worker it's not on yet and would have wait cause there driver was out . Due to starting work I asked how long it would be to arrive to be told 25 mins when I stated I had ordered this 45 mins ago the worker hung up on me ( am I getting food or not ) so rung back asking speaker to manager to be hung up on again. After getting speaking to manager he told me this would be dealt with but overall very bad experience no food at end of it. Due to the worker on the phone hanging up and refusing to talk like an adult I won't be re ordering and I eat out of it quite regularly

Good quality food at reasonable prices. Extensive menu for a chippy. Staff friendly. Always good Fish and Chicken suppers. Sit in or get a delivery or order and collect.

Great quality food at affordable prices. The fish is outstanding and you get a hefty portion. Chicken fillet burgers are lovely too. Staff friendly and efficient...exactly what you expect from a top notch chip shop in Ballyclare

Took kids in for a cheesy chip and they loved it.. Will definitely bring the kids back again ... And its handy that u can sit in aswell.:

Regular chip shop, not nearly as good as others in the district. Has the potential to be better but hasn't improved for years.

Food is great and doesn't take too long even if it's busy! It's clean and the food is delicious, also local and has been around for a long time! Highly recommended

this is simply the best chippy to get a good feed. great portions, well priced and they do deliveries too.

If you're in the mood for traditional N.I. fare, this is the place in Ballyclare. Very large portions. My son loves the fish. I usually have chicken. Always good.
