Johnny Dough's Wood-Fired Pizza in Conwy

Totally different pizza experience ( if that's what you want traditional menu also available) new flavours and combinations very very tasty would highly recommend.

Had a great experience here! I was struggling to find somewhere allergy friendly until I found Johnny Dough's. We had a gluten free BBQ chicken with vegan cheese and garlic bread. Staff was very knowledgeable and accommodating, and even informed us that their BBQ sauce may contain gluten and were happy to switch it to a tomato sauce. They also let us know that they change gloves when handling gluten free items and use a dedicated tray in the oven to reduce cross contact. Very much appreciate their safety protocols and felt safe eating here. The food itself was fantastic! Would've attached a picture but my hunger got the best of me. Very high quality ingredients, and definitely the best gluten free pizza I've had in years. The garlic bread was just garlic sauce on a pizza base (due to being gluten free) but still delicious. We will undoubtedly be returning!

Came here for a birthday lunch with my mum. The whole place was empty just another couple on a table. Ordered a margarita, and it barely came with any sauce or cheese. If that’s what the pizza is like when it’s quiet, I dread to think what it’s like when it’s busy. The price was okay at £9.95 but the prices are very steep for the other pizzas or extra toppings!!!!! I wouldn’t bother coming here!

I just keep coming back to Johnny Doughs. Had such a good experience as a solo diner last year that I came back. Super handy that all pizzas can be adapted to be gluten free. I had the chicken shish pizza and it was absolutely incredible! I would go as far to say it was one of the best gluten free pizzas I have ever had! So many toppings. A soft drink, a pizza and a side cost me just shy of £25 which I honestly think is about average for eating out these days. If I was staying longer, I would go back without a doubt! Thank you for welcoming solo diners with dietary needs.

Since we discovered Johnny Doughs in 2016 we haven't eaten dinner anywhere else when we visit Llandudno from Liverpool. We've even arranged birthday celebrations to take in a JD's pizza. Felt a bit sad that our overall experience today was one that, on balance, might make us look around for alternatives. The kitchen is right at the back now, so the central cooking area/oven is all dark. There are stacks of takeaway boxes where there used to be a warmly lit bar or where you'd see the chefs prepping pizza. The decor - has it been stripped back? Seemed quite bare. Something was missing. Pizzas were tasty, but the prices have gone up to the point where my 'usual' chorizo and prawn is now £16.65. I nearly chose a cheaper pizza, but I love that one. I've never baulked at the price before. It was OK. Very very thin crust that seemed much thinner than usual, there was no single shell-on prawn on it like it used to have & the serving board had a brown paper bag on it & not the JD logo greaseproof paper. I know costs have increased (labour, fuel, ingredients), but £20 for a pizza and a can of ginger beer is steep. OK, the teen kids had the great £7.95 deal, but they are growing up so there will come time when pizzas for 4 with a soft drink will be hitting the £80 mark, and then you start to look at other options for eating out. Gah, it makes me sad! We've loved Johnny Doughs since it opened. It's been our go-to warm haven, but it felt a bit bare, pricey and lacking in warmth today. I felt like I was eating in a space that was geared up for takeaways. I'm so sorry. We will no doubt try again, because we just don't know anywhere else to eat in Llandudno!

One of the best spicy pizzas I've ever had. Cracking stuff

We were on holiday in Llandudno and having looked at many Trip Advisor reviews I was uninspired. We cook a lot but seldom eat out so we’re probably a bit choosy. My other half found Johnny’s Dough and we booked easily by phone although online looked easy too. We had a lovely meal on Saturday night, there was a fun and relaxed vibe and the staff were really lovely. Families, couples and groups all having a great evening. We tried to find an alternative on Sunday night for variety, but returned to JD’s in the end without booking. They found us a table by the window on bar stools which was fine. Had pizzas with side salad and coleslaw. Highly recommend.

This place is very calm, the waiters are really friendly and they serve you really fast. The food comes to you very quickly! Loved this place!!!

We came in on a whim after a long walk and I’m so glad we did. The Farmhouse was one of the best pizzas I’ve ever eaten! The garlic bread with cheese was lovely too. Definitely recommend.

Always great. Temperature, atmosphere, music and don’t forget the food. Pizza great (better than the image on Trustpilot by far) and great value for money. Whole place looking a bit ‘lived in’ now but does not distract from the experience. Still the original and the best. Finally forgot to mention the staff. All busy but time giving. Don’t remember adding a tip. Sorry guys and girls if I didn’t. Can you do it on the machine? I can’t remember. Keep going!

Chorizo pawn chilli pizza had a lovely kick to it and honestly the best pizza I’ve ever eaten! £16 Kids and other half all had margarita which wasn’t bad for £10. We came over Easter weekend and on Friday night they were booked out, but managed to squeeze us in for Sat night. Our waitress blonde lady pleasant, however we saw one particular waitress with dark hair and rosy checks who literally didn’t stop but always accommodating and friendly to guests. We ended up giving her the tip as she worked so so hard. Overall WHEN we come back we will def pre book this place again.

We had a takeout as they were fully booked. Absolutely outstanding. One of the best pizzas I’ve had in ages. We had the farmhouse and it was light, crisp edges and loads of topping. Highly recommend.

Delicious pizzas. Service was a little slow, had to ask twice to take order, whether this was because we sat outside not sure, was busy so can understand a little wait. Will return at some point. Dog friendly outside. .

The pizza was absolutely amazing, just the right size and loaded with delicious toppings. It tasted incredible! The staff was extremely friendly, both at the restaurant and during the axe throwing activity. I will definitely return in the future.

Great atmosphere, superb service, and fantastic food

We found this place by chance when looking for something to eat that was kid friendly. On entering we were greeted by a friendly staff member and led to a table. The menu is extensive and the choice of pizzas are amazing. Bonus points for the draw on table cloth which kept my 9 year old busy whilst we waited for food. The kids meal deal is amazing value and in my son's words 'the best pizza he has had ever!'. Ice cream and profiteroles were dessert and they were equally as good. Staff are super friendly and the food is really good! We loved it and would absolutely go again!

Have come to eat here every time we visit llandudno as the food is amazing, this time was no different! Absolutely stunning pizza, friendly staff and a welcoming atmosphere! Would advise prebooking though as especially in the holidays they are almost always fully booked and don't have room for walk ins.

We had nice pizza , although it was a bit blunt , so could be a bit more seasoning. Good crunchy dough. We had meditarean one ,with pine nuts and aubergine. Service was nice and smiling. Thank you for finding for us table.

Again took to trip advisor for local eateries and made a bee line for this rated restaurant. Had drinks with peperoni pizza Pizza was pipping hot, thin and crispy and about 12/14" across so ample. If you were looking for a lighter bite I think 1 pizza and a couple of salads would work just as well between 2 of you. As with many of the popular restaurants in the area they were very busy and I am glad we did book as people were being turned away. Didn't feel too full when we finished and would definitely go back.

We’ve been here a few times and the pizzas here are fantastic and well worth getting. The sides are a bit overpriced but they do go well with the pizzas. Some combinations are strange but they work. There’s a reason they’re on the menu.

Service was chaotic, wasn't busy but was 20 minutes before we got a drink. Pizza looked great, had a great texture but was devoid of any flavour. Wasn't getting anything from the cheese or the base. The sauce had some small flavour but was too little of it to make a difference. Might as well of been eating air. Disappointing to say the least. Bar area also looked like a storage area - bit of an eye-sore and not what you expect of a restaurant.

The best pizza I've had in Llandudno, full stop. Even if you're on holiday. Came in with my familyto have a lovely meal. Let's just say, I wasn't disappointed. We all ordered different pizzas, with some creative toppings like smoked haddock, which sounds weird at first, but was delicious. The Chicken Tikka pizza had a surprising mango chutney taste to it. Size doesn't matter, especially with these pizzas, as they're quite filling.

What a great place this is, my kids loved making there own pizza, I had a tremendous shish kebab pizza and my other half’s goats cheese and caramelised onion pizza was amazing. Thoroughly nice people. Please visit if you can.

Had a super time here, it was a last minute decision but worth it, the waiter / host was really helpful and welcoming, and laid out a paper cloth for our son to draw on whilst waiting, he even had the choice to make his own pizza, not done this time but we will be back the pizza was really good best we've had in a long while thanks for the welcoming atmosphere

We have visited Johnny Doughs in Llandudno on several occasions now and the food and service is always great! It is always a place we head to when we are in the area. We booked for New Year's Eve this time while we were in Llandudno on a little get away. As always the food was excellent. I had Johnny's meaty pizza and my wife enjoyed the chicken tikka pizza (this is her favourite) followed by salted caramel profiteroles and hazelnut icecream, which we shared as the pizzas are huge! All washed down with a few beers and wine. The staff went out of their way to make the evening enjoyable, every single one of them were happy, welcoming, chatty and attentive all night and we had the best time. If it had been open until midnight we would have stayed but they all deserved to get off home and enjoy the new year with their friends and families too !! they worked so hard as the restaurant was very busy. We can't praise the staff enough, they didn't rush us to finish our drinks and we were the last to leave. All in all they added a little sparkle to our New Year celebrations....they all deserve a little pay rise!! haha. Happy New Year to all at Johnny Doughs and we look forward to seeing you soon!!

Quite simply the best pizza I have ever had.....period. Do yourself a favour and eat here. So so good.

This was seriously one of the best pizzas I have had for a very long time. Really thin and crispy base with fun and creative toppings. We ordered the smoked haddock pizza which we predicted would either be good or disgusting. It was amazing! The garlic bread was also insanely good. The bread was so light and fluffy and was dripping with garlic butter and fresh garlic. We also saw the table next to us who had three young children making their pizzas with the toppings of their choice. I’m definitely coming back here and trying more of their fun creations!

A lovely, cosy place for a delicious meal! For a hungry vegan wanting some scrumptious pizza, this is the spot. It's amazing that you can sub mozzarella for vegan cheese on your chosen pizza! My Mediterranean veg pizza with vegan cheese was absolutely perfect! For dessert I had a bowl of the most delicious vegan hazelnut ice cream I've ever had in my life! Wonderful place, delicious food, very friendly and helpful staff, looking forward to coming back!

When we walked in, just the smell of the wood fired oven won me over. The food presented to us was absolutely inspired; my Chicken Tikka pizza was very tasty and I understand that my partner's vegan Margarita was equally as enjoyable. The very rustic charm of this venue made for a wonderful dining experience, even on a quieter Sunday evening. With the excellent food and drink we enjoyed, I have to state that this restaurant offered excellent value for money, and as I told the guys there, should we return to Llandudno, it would be impossible for us not to return.

Just find this place to be the best Pizza house in the town. Every visit slightly different. aspects of each are truly wonderful.. From service to doughs to Pizza.. could just do with a decent zero beer like peroni or San miquel..

Very average pizza - if your going to go down the route of purchasing and installing a wood fire oven (which does smell amazing) then why not learn to do authentic napolian pizzas. The ones served where ok but could have been cooked in my oven at home. Disappointed because staff where nice. In today's day and age I can't see this place lasting because the products - pizza - is average.

Absolutely delicious, the best wood fired pizza I've had. Love the quirky menu. Friendly, speedy service too. I had been to their sister restaurant in Conway a few years ago and was delighted to find one in Llandudno while on a work trip. Rosato wine also very good. Highly recommend.

Visited on a lunch time in half term. No booking as we were wandering past but sat 5 easily. We had pizza, salad and garlic bread and it was all nice. I will say though, this is so over priced. £15 for an individual pizza is outrageous when you consider the price to make them.

Relaxed atmosphere, good prices and freshly cooked pizza which is got to you quickly. My partner is gluten-free and all pizzas can be made on a gluten-free base. She enjoyed it and thought it was arguably the best gluten-free pizza base she has ever had. (I thought her base could have been cooked more but that's personal preference I suppose). Some reviewers complained that the gluten-free base was smaller than the normal base but it is also thicker so if anything it might be more filling. My normal pizza was disappointing tbh. I thought it was actually too thin and the flavours were a bit too pungent. Deserts were decent

Booked this as it was recommended for vegan options - our daughter has a milk allergy so df pizza is always a treat. Atmosphere was great but service was non existent tbh. The staff were pleasant but we were not asked if we would like more drinks/table wasn’t cleared etc. and although restaurant was nearly empty, they were setting up tables instead! Bizarre! Having worked in hospitality myself! Also noticed that their hygiene rating was only 2 star when we left 🤢.

5 of us came here for lunch. We had trouble deciding what we wanted because there was so much choice! Decided on 4 pizzas between 5 of us, with a side salad - that was definitely enough for lunch for 5 adults! It was all delicious. Advertised on the menu as pizzas could be made "extra hot" - we asked for this on one pizza, and our "extra hot" sauce loving family member loved it! We also had the 5 bean topping on the menu, which worked surprisingly well.

A great little find on a Wednesday evening. The pizzas were amazing. I had beetroot pesto and cheese pizza. I will make beetroot pesto at home now. A new find ! The service was great. We had to eat outside as it is not dog friendly - a shame as I am sure they are losing a lot of custom !

We chose here because it had some interesting meat toppings (for the meat eater!) and unusual veggie toppings (for me!) - both of us were really pleased with the taste, portions, amount of toppings (not just a sprinkling but a good cover!) and great customer service. Would definitely recommend (and if we lived closer would be frequent customers).

We visited on a Sunday evening. We had been out in Conwy during the day and tried to visit the branch there but we hadn't made a booking so it was too full. Didn't know there was also one in llandudno where we were staying, so chanced our luck getting a table. A friendly waitress seated us quickly. The pizza was fresh and tasty. My partner had the gluten free pizza, which was a bit small for the price, but still generous toppings, and he enjoyed it.

Have been a couple of times now. Always seems busy but service is quick. The pizzas only take minutes to cook due to the nature of cooking and thin bases. Good range of toppings. And cocktails. All tastes fresh and well-balanced (example - I had the beetroot pesto pizza last time I went which could potentially be too wet/sloppy but it was just right). Not much in the way of sides/starters so the pizza is the main event and needs to be good, which it is. Dessert menu is ok - smaller than I expected though. I get the sides/starters being limited due to the cooking set up, but could easily be more in the way of cakes. Not a huge issue though, just personal preference. Book in advance as it is hard to get a table as a walk-in - I know that from experience!

Avoid! Avoid avoid. Variety of pizzas acceptable. Gluten free base available. Service extremely poor. (Restaurant didn’t look to be too busy with most people having eaten and tables empty). We waited over 20 minutes before having to go and ask to have our order taken as the waitress kept looking past us despite us being the only ones on that side of the restaurant. We were in the restaurant an hour when we were told our pizzas were finally being cooked. The table next to us that arrived only 10 minutes ago received their food before us and they had the audacity to say there was a queue. So bad. Do not waste your time as they wasted and hour of our time time today and now we have to find food elsewhere.

We ordered one pizza for collection at 6pm. I arrived at 6pm to be told it would be 5 minutes. The place was rather busy so I waited outside. The young girl who was clearly hosting looked stressed but assured me she would bring it out to me. I waited 10 minutes with no acknowledgement. The place was turning guests away (I would advise booking especially in school holidays!) A young gentleman who was in the kitchen came out to me and asked what pizza I had ordered. He then brought this straight out to me. Considering I had ordered the pizza over an hour before, I would have expected it to be ready on time. The pizza was OK. I am not a huge fan of chunks of chicken, it looks false to me and the chicken tasted dry. I do believe another topping may have tasted nicer, it was overall OK. I probably wouldn’t return here in a hurry though.

What an amazing experience!! The food was fantastic, the pizzas 🍕 😋 really hit the mark. The staff, were really helpful and friendly especially Jasmine, who was assigned our table. She looked after us so well. Found out later that she had only been working there a short time. We would definitely recommend it, will return there again

First visit to Johnny doughs will not be our last,they have a excellent menu we had the Shish Kebab pizza and it was delicious.Next time we visit Llandudno will definitely visit again.

Lovely food but due to "change of menu" you had to get up and read the chalkboard to choose your meal. Understaffed and a bit chaotic but will give it another try next time in Llandudno.

I have been to Johnny Dough's in Llandudno several times now and the food is always amazing. Customer service is fantastic even though they are rushed off their feet, (just goes to show how popular they are). Very reasonably priced, pizza with 3 extra toppings...

Really good pizza, my Chorizo, Prawn & Chilli was prefect, generous toppings and real chilli bite. And the Smoked Haddock was really tasty for a white pizza choice. Good wine and lovely service.

Looking on line they have a good choice of pizzas and a wood fired oven. We just fancied something quick and simple, so they suited our needs. However they were slow, from ordering our pizzas to landing on our table took between 30 to 40...
