Totally gone downhill! Hot food selection has been virtually decimated - only chips fish quiche and soup. It’s pathetic! What is going on? There are always long queues to get hot drinks. Looks like they are serving what is convenient for them not what customers want. Very sad.

We had coffee, cake and a salmon bagel. The white americano is the only coffee they can do here as it doesn't involve any skill. The cake was nice but a mass produced sponge. The bagel was nice quality but quite literally only half filled to make it look more attractive from the front - only when you get to eat it you find you have to spread the filling out.

I used to have a lunch here from a long time. It was a pleasant place to enjoy simple but fresh food. During the last years everything has changed drastically. The menu is always the same: curry, rice, fish and chips, the same quiche. I asked for mashed potato instead of fries and it was in the menu but it’s never available (since early spring). Pasta salads are a robbery: a thick layer of arugula covered with a thin layers of pasta, three cherry tomatoes and four micro mozzarella balls. It costs 8.75. The service at the counter is awful: if you ask for something they never answer or make any attempts to listen to you. Sorry, never again!

The staff that work in this little cafe are so unfriendly and lazy!!! They all look so miserable and hate their jobs. Especially the lady who takes the coffee orders and the one for the food order. Such a shame because it’s such a nice setting to have a sit down after shopping but the staff put you off the place. The food is the same every single day&only option for children is soup or battered cod there’s a few dry cakes, soup & fried chips nothing much else. The young lady with the dark hair on the till is also grumpy. Pitty about the unhelpful staff and poor food selection otherwise it would be a nice place to sit only the setting nothing else.

Disappointing breakfast to say the least. Both had full English breakfasts. Sausage, bacon and beans were ok but mushroom as good as raw, white toast inedible - felt like it had been made hours ago and so tough unable to eat it. Fried egg was rubbery - again felt like it had been made and had sat for a good while. Flat white coffee was a disgrace - it was like a cup of milk with barely any coffee taste - did not drink it. This was not the start to our weekend we wanted. What’s happened John Lewis - how can you possibly get a breakfast so wrong?

I am so very dissappointed that they have changed the location, the ambience and the food. It used to be one of the smartest restaurants in a department store. Now its just sad and depressing and has zero appeal. The food was lousy. The scone, the apricot croissant the coffee was cold the hot chocolate was watery it was just not worth any of the money time or calories.

We used John Lewis as we trusted the food normally!!! We needed a substantial lunch. As soon as I said I was gluten free I was offered a choice of a sandwich or a scone. Mmmm!!! My friend had a small plate quiche and salad and £5 for a very small place of chips. I questioned that I needed a hot meal. Finally a very helpful lady came and advised I could have the chicken stew and suggested also chips. But the stew would have a roll and therefore £5 for chips again. Over £30 for lunch with a small coffee and pot of tea. Really not good enough. What happened to the omelettes and it wasn’t too busy.

The John Lewis store in Oxford Street London is situated on floor 5. It has seating both inside or outside on a terrace overlooking Oxford Street. There was an selection of food, well prepared and presented. The service is a bit long winded because you have to wait whilst you get food, wait again whilst you get your drinks and wait again whilst you pay. Meanwhile your food and drinks are getting colder, because it’s like a canteen style service.

I have had so many bad experiences of this cafe that I haven't been for years however my wife was given vouchers for free tea and cake so with much trepidation we gave it a go and shared a piece of fruitcake and a Bakewell scone with jam and cream and a pot of tea. The staff were pleasant and the quality of the scone and cake were very high. We managed to secure a seat on the outdoor terrace.

There were about 4 of us waiting for fish & if it takes so long & it was so busy, it would've been better to start cooking it sooner. After about 3 mins the chips came out but the fish still had 6mins left so I just had the chips before they got cold. There were about 6 people awaiting fish & it all seemed very disorganised. We were surprised, as we often have breakfast there, so we complained and received an apology and reimbursement. Usually excellent, so we thought just an off day. So this week we went for lunch instead. I had a place of hard, only partly cooked rice with ratatouille equally uncooked. Didn't bother to complain this time but won't be going back.

staff seems to be under pressure, no cleaning of tables in time, looks not well managed. once you sit it is ok, some tables have nice view and on the floor above there is a kind of roof garden also poorly managed, given that kids use it as a playing ground

I’ve just had a smashing gluten free BLT sandwich. One of the best GF sandwiches I’ve had out - I have coeliac disease. Would recommend.

When we arrived to have tea and cake there were loads of tables that were dirty with dirty plates and trays on. The server was reluctant to give us fresh milk in a jug, don’t see the issue. When we got to our table there was no cups and saucers given to us.

Stopped here due to the place to eat in our nearest John Lewis offers great food and service, however don;t bother here. Coffee queue long and new member of staff left on their own until queue built up. Breakfast stop - we were told no sausages even through most items you order have them in it! 30 min wait if you wanted one! Overcooked/reheated poached egg and poor choice. Won't be back!

I had a scone with clotted cream at the Westfield JL Place to Eat. The scone was hard and tasteless the cream very rich. The tea was mediocre. The staff were disorganised the staff member at the till-point kept leaving her station and attending the cake/pasty section which I think is unhygienic. I found her customer service very bad. The cafe is never busy Ive been a couple of times. Never enough staff and apart from a friendly waiter no-one is interested. I won't be going there again.

We sat outside on the terrace which has been opened recently and it was very pleasant. The coffee is made by machine and is ok but frustratingly slow. The scone was ok too, rather than great. Two coffees, one scone jam and cream and one small bottle of water came to over £10 so quite expensive.

We visited on the Saturday, the food was excellent and very good value however the queue system is just awful!! people can stand in one of three places, nobody is directed to the hot food hot drinks or otherwise and management need to sort this out. Everyone was complaining in the queue and it is not the fault of the staff who are doing their best to make a poor system work

Situated on the 5th floor of the John Lewis store we were surprised by the size of the cafe and the number of tables available. There will be even more soon when the new roof terrace is opened. We had hot drinks and cakes using complementary store vouchers so these were great value! Helpful and friendly staff made the visit one to remember.

Ham hock pie came with a beautiful crust but the content was lacking in ham, comprising mainly peas and carrots in an insipid sauce. Plate cold pie just warm and chips almost cold. Gravy like varnish.

Had taken my family who were visiting from Peterborough and bought cod for 2, a portion of chips and mushy peas . The cod reeked of ammonia and had to throw it in the bin. My family were very dissappointed. My kitchen smelt of old fish for hours. I wanted this to be my new go to place, such a shame.

We visited on a very busy Saturday night - bouncers were quick to de-escalate a potential situation in a calm way which was great to see. Also barmaid Lucy needs a special mention for such great customer service!

Myself and a couple of friends visited this venue on a Wednesday night and had a good time, toward the end of the night myself and my friends decided to leave the venue and go home. As we left my friend told me he had left his jacket inside so I went back in to retrieve it, as I exited the premises a member of staff (who I now assume to have been a manager) grabbed the back of my jacket and very forcefully pulled me back inside (bearing in mind that i am only 5ft and this guy was a lot bigger than myself). By the force that this guy had used, I had assumed it was a drunk customer trying to grab me, so when I turned around and asked him to let go of me he went ‘no, what the **** are you doing?!’ And continued to aggressively yell at me while not letting go of me.Turns out he thought I was taking a random jacket. Now, I completely understand that he was making sure the jacket was not being stolen, however the way in which he dealt with the situation was very unnecessary, unprofessional and frightening. If he had came out and tapped me on the shoulder and asked me why I was taking the jacket, instead of forcefully pulling me about unnecessarily, it could have been more easily resolved.
