Cheesy chip was nice but the chicken goujons tasted awful and the batter was burnt

Scampi was dreadful . Clearly had been reheated . Batter was thick and stale . Breaded haddock was very good . Chips weren’t fresh

Food took an hour and a half to arrive, was freezing and completely unseasoned.

I know Cod has hot expensive but this was the worst fish I've ever had. it was 90% batter and what fish there was, was completely dry. avoid like the plauge.

1st time I've ever had fish and chips from a chippy and had bones in it. Counted 9 altogether. The missus was fortunate to only have 3. John Dorys is normally exquisite. 1st bite i took got stabbed in the gums. Ballygowan Road JD's. Be careful folks.

40 mins late. Disgraceful with no update and restaurant had zero interest in helping other than to repeat ‘5 more minutes’

Food was delicious, freshly cooked and stayed warm til I made it home

ordered my food around 6.15 and it took an hour and 30 minutes to be delivered

while delivery was later than originally esimtated, we were contacted by the restaurant in good time and told of the error

Absolutely awful, fish and onion rings were soggy, chips were half cooked. Battered sausages were so greasy, felt I'll after a few bites, what a waste of money!

Was 30 mins later I waited in shop. Shop was chaos 2 weeks fellas had no clue what their at, other fella babying them along .. also ordered a gluten free meal, which clearly wasn’t , as my mrs is sitting currently in agony and stomach massively swollen … terrible

We order most weeks but last week & today the chips were like rocks so we binned it all & ordered from The Golden Chip, will order from there from now on.

Asked for no mayonnaise on both burgers was covered in them supposed to be lettuce tomato and onion on burger only lettuce when it arrived

Delivery was shocking and when it arrived I didn’t even get the right thing. Asked for no peas and didn’t I get a mountain of peas? Won’t be ordering from there again.

Went with grandchildren to pick up food for treat dinner. Staff are lovely and when we wanted fish we could always depend on good quality fish at John Dory's Castlereagh. However, the fish we got yesterday was appalling. My grandson and I got two small pieces of the thinness pieces of fish and there was more batter than fish which was not up to usual standard. Even our dog who loves a piece of fish wouldn't eat it. Very disappointing. Will not be buying there again. Definitely a waste of money.

Batter so thick on pathetically small sliver of fish. The chips were alright but for paying 10.75 for the worst fish supper in my life.

These people need training.... People are wearing wolly hats... Hoodies ... The so called fryer whites are disgusting.....no hats... Gloves... 1 person marched in wiped his jumper saying its full of sawdust... Then walked around like what's the crack.. I don't really know how these people got the stars😂😂 🤢.

Worse place I have very been JOHN DORYS BALLYHACKAMORE to serve this to anyone as food is a disgrace.I have posted on Facebook and my friends have shared.Dont go near it.

Placed order at 8.30pm didn't arrive to 10.45pm, delivery should of been 9.30pm. Order was wrong as well and wasnt very warm. This shop can not handle the amount of orders it receives. This isn't the first time this has happened. Everytime I order its over 1hr late and I only live a couple of streets away. They need to stop taking orders if they can't deliver on time! Will never order again.

Ordered via just eat from ballyhackamore branch, horrendous wait for delivery and the part of it wasn't delivered. Rang the number, after 20 minutes (!!) was told we could call round and get refund for missing part of order. Went round (2 mile drive) to be told it wasn't their responsibility and we would have to claim via Just Eat. Appalling customer service. And to top it all, the onion rings were like bulletproof doughnuts. Never again

Only giving 5 lstars because there was nothing wrong with my partners order on both occasions but once again I ordered the chicken kebab loaded fries that says it’s supposed to come with HOUSE sauce. Last time I ordered this it came smothered in gravy with no kebab sauce in sight. Then yesterday it came smothered in Garlic sauce with once again no kebab sauce in sight?? I don’t know where they’re getting these random sauces from when it literally says “with house sauce” on with that order. Both times I couldn’t eat it because I hate gravy chips and Garlic sauce absolutely turns me. Partner loved his fish though. And collection time was pretty good.

Delivery time is not great! An hour late after scheduled time. And 2 hours late on another occasion. But the restaurant staff are great. Very popular place and busy. Collection Only from now on!!!!!

Peas were like goop, the tartare sauce was basically mayonnaise and the food was freezing when it got here. Not worth £17 (fish supper, bottle of coke)

I used to always get from here an the portions are ridiculous now, 10.20 for a chicken burger meal with a bag of chips whats not even filled halfway

House sauce chicken kebab is great

Pleasantly surprised on a busy Friday evening to have my food delivered within 45 minutes rather than the hour and a half estimated. Fish was perfect, chips were great and filling. If I had one constructive criticism it would be to wonder why after all these years there still isn't a option to add Salt & Vinegar when ordering. On another note, with all the Scots over here, Dory's could make a killin if they served a battered haggis.

Worst takeaway ever! Just look at the photos! Goujons meals had half goujons in & chicken kebab on chips was just unbelievable. Rang to complain & extremely rude staff. Returning all today virtually untouched apart from tasting it was that bad!🤮

Still haven’t received order, says it’s been delivered and seems shop shut at 9pm and yet near half 9 still no food, ordered nearly hour and half ago brutal

Food arrived over an hour late, the chicken burger fillet was overcooked and there was a dip missing from the order.

45 minutes past the latest delivery time, rang the place 20 after my time and was told it was getting bagged up and out the door as we spoke, took another 25 minutes and was cold when it arrived

Had a fee issues in past with undercooked chips but was 100% perfect tonight.

Ordered on just eat for collection, order was ready 50 mins earlier from my arrival at the organised collection time and was thrown out. Thankfully John Dory's whipped up a fresh order. But I am disappointed with JustEats app and this inconvenience it's caused me.

Never encountered a server as rude as I have in their Ballyhackamore branch. Walked out, deleted the app and won't be near the place again.

Chips not cooked forgot cokes on first order so had to get a second driver to bring them

Used their app which is great to place an order and select a time to collect. You pay extra for this service. Waited over 30 mins , people walking up to the counter were served quicker. Plenty of staff but really slow

Not happy at all. I went on to the app at 5-40 to see how long it would be for delivery, it said 35 to 45 minutes which seemed ok,so I placed my order.When it went through it said delivery due between 6.45 snd 7.05 which was an extra 55 minutes longer than the app originally said.I rang the shop and they said they couldn’t track my order, so I went into my app again and it said it had been delivered which it hadn’t and it was now 7.20 which was 15 minutes late, absolutely terrible service. We eventually got our delivery at 7-30.So over all, it took nearly 2 hours to get 3 chips.(Which we’re stone cold because of the length of time it took to get to us. I am a very dissatisfied customer. £4-25 for a 2 hour cold delivery is not acceptable when we are literally a mile from the shop. Linda White.

Portion sizes are getting worse! 4.50 for no more than a small chip with gravy is ridiculous and the onion rings were so greasy. I think it’s time to find a new chippy.

The fish lacked fish, it was batter with a bit of skin in the middle. Very flat. Good crispy chips though

Food arrived late and was luke warm, curry sauce was really watery. Chicken goujons and fish were ok but have had much better.

We have ordered from here many times before via app. We have no problem with the food but on more than one occasion we didn’t receive the correct order and overpaid for what we received. Tonight when we rang to report that we didn’t receive one of the meals the guy on the phone was arguing with us that we received the full order. NEVER AGAIN will we be ordering from here. Customer service a joke and we are certainly not liars.

Sitting waiting on collecting food in John Dory Ballyhackamore and feeling very uneasy about the lack of hygiene…only one member of staff wearing a mask (below his nose); another walking round with a cigarette hanging out of his mouth in clear view of customers; and most concerning a member of staff rubbing his runny nose with his bare hand and immediately handling equipment and food containers. Shocked by the lack of adherence to health and safety procedures in the midst of a pandemic. Have collected my food, but it will be difficult to enjoy. Will think twice about ordering from here for the foreseeable.

Chips were not warm and rather dry and tasteless Fish was nice though small and the batter was a little soggy by the time of delivery. The children's popcorn chicken was enjoyed but there wasn't much chicken. My partner enjoyed his kebab

Extremely disappointing! Apart from the wait for about 20 min after the order was placed. Having stood for that time watching the staff, I was shocked to see the guy who was at the till handling cash… proceeding to lift fresh fish in his ungloved hand dipping it into batter from there to the fryer! I appreciate it was going into hot fat but non the less disturbing to see him do it bare handed and without Washing his hands! . At least the young chap who was emptying the bin washed his before proceeding to finish frying his burgers! Doubt if I’ll be ordering there again The food itself was most disappointing… the chips were stodgy soft and oily… not crisp. The fish over cooked. Not trimmed the ‘thinner ends’ more or less dissolved in the cooking.

Slow serving. They don't serve in order of arrival. Food poor. Expensive. Keep away. I won't be going back.

Food was ok, cold and soggy by the time it got to us. Was over a 2 hr wait and had to call twice. Not great when had 2 hungry kids then up past bed time. Looking from the other reviews they need to sort out time management. Won’t be ordering from here again.

Ordered chicken kebab on chips and battered sausage supper and opened it to find 2 kids meals.

Food is half decent but if you’re expecting it on time go order somewhere else! Couldn’t get through on the phone for a good 20mins to find out where my order was. Won’t be bothering again! Steer clear unless you’re on with waiting at least an hour longer than your estimated delivery time!!

Generally ok but food took unusually long to arrive and a whole cod supper missing from order. Not the best unfortunately.

Didn’t like the chips hard and tasted like they were double fried ! Gravy was very thick. Usually great food quality but not this time !

Food is normally brilliant from here but tonight the chips tasted like they were done at the beginning of the night and reheated and left to sit for ages and the fish tasted like it had been sat in the hot cupboard all night as well :( such a shame as we love getting from here but tonight's food has put us off chippy for a good while

Delivery was due at 7 but didn't come to 8.30pm. Everytime I rang the restaurant they said it was with the driver and would be 10 mins. To top it off it was cold and onion rings were missing. Overrated chippy.

Normally get a good takeaway from here but ordered from Dundonald today and got recooked chips. Spent over £40 and would not expect this…. Cook fresh chips. It’s not that hard, really disappointed

Holywood Road branch 08/08/22 1925. Ordered a cod supper and chicken goujons and chips. Got home and noticed I was short the chips for the goujons. Returned 25 minutes later and told I had to prove that I had ordered chips with the goujons. I...

This probably more the drivers fault, the app said food had been delivered 45 before it actually was, it was freezing cold. Driver was ignorant. Restaurant don’t answer the phone, it was cut off 5 times. am old greasy food and rude driver.

Food was delicious, to be fair it was an estimate delivery time of 6pm but I did preorder 1.5hr hoping it would be closer to 6pm.... it is a Saturday night. It would not put me off going to John Dorys in the future- great chippy!

I’ve eaten fish and chips all over the UK and these are, by far, the best I’ve ever had. Chips were delicious, the batter on the fish was crisp, not greasy. The gravy was perfect!

Food was two hours late when it arrived the drinks were missing and the food was cold and tasted bad.

Really lovely member of staff in today and a really quick turn around time. However, I ordered the gluten free chicken gujons and gluten free curry sauce and they were really not that nice. The curry was okay but the chicken didn’t taste of anything other than oil and it was really dry. It’s good that they’re catering for people with food intolerances BUT the food is not enjoyable.

Food destroyed by curry sauce spilled all through the bag?!
