JJXpress in Scottish Borders

Sorry I gave this place 4 ☆☆☆☆ 3 years ago. But today its 1 curry sauce was a very small tub not enough to go with the order. Chow mein was dry . I put it in the bin Sorry but I won't be back...

Ordered a omelet came half cooked and when phoned to complain it took over 45 mins for a replacement to arrive with no apologise ether everyone else had finished there food before mine was redelivered so I ended up not eating it very disappointing

Always great service and lovely food

Ordered bbq ribs, prawn toast and crispy salt and chilli wings. Oh my the only decent bit was the prawn toast. The meat was so dry and tough I can only assume it was cooked previously then re fried! It only took 15 minutes from order to delivered to my door. No wonder if it’s a case of reheating. It went in the bin and I won’t go back.

Recieved food from here on many occasion and have no complaints.....the food has always been spot on....👍..however the delivery man is a very shady character...🤔

Ordered duck with orange sauce, the duck came dry as a bone on top of 2 pieces of orange, each dry as well. The seaweed was chewy and bland. very poor quality of food.

Chose this takeaway while working in Hawick. Closest to my bed and breakfast. After checking the menu I fancied the special curry with boiled rice. Took a few minutes to prepare and once ready took it to my hotel room to eat while watching tv. Curry was lovely with a nice thick paste with just the right heat. There was plenty of meat including king prawns, chinese pork, beef and chicken chunks. There were mushrooms, onions and peas in there too. My dinner come to just over £8 which I really enjoyed, definately one to try 😊

The quality of the food was excellent and the customer service was great. Food was also prepared very quickly.

Food is amazing but expensive wishthey brought back the lunch time deal but staff are friendly and very fast service

The restaurant is on the High Street. The interior is like a staff canteen and people waiting for carry out meals are hanging around. It has a typical menu and the food is better than the surroundings. Fine for a quick meal.

As a frequent visitor to Hawick I would highly recommend this Chinese , staff very friendly , quick service both in restaurant & take out & food us delicious & good value for money . Wouldn't go anywhere else

Tried for the first time - king prawn curry and mushroom curry with cashews. Both had great chunks of carrots, peas and other vegetables. Never before have I had king prawn curry that had more veg than prawns! Sauce very watery and prawn crackers soft not crispy- need I say more won't be back

We ordered a takeaway which was the House Curry Special which I've had before. Plenty of meat in it and you can see into the kitchen which confirms that all the food is freshly prepared. Would not consider eating in the premises as it's very very basic inside and has absolutely no ambience about it. However for a takeaway meal, I can recommend the food

Friendly staff, decent portions just a shame the sauces are so runny in some of the dishes. Also the lunch special is fantastic value for money

this is the best chinese in the borders the staff are friendly and so is the owner, nothing is to much trouble you can mix and match the menu's. go most weeks.

It was my sons birthday and there was 12 eating take away and we needed it made for 5 o'clock so that family would travel home and keep good time, I phoned the night before as I knew it would be a large order and asked if it would be no problem to have it for around 5, also knowing they don't normally open until then. Went in at five and added one more meal to the order and it was no problem, waited 5 minutes and it was all ready and everyone enjoyed a tremendous feast. Thank you very much

Our regular and only take away outlet. The food is always of a high standard - tasty, freshly made and plenty of it. Can be delivered locally in Hawick, otherwise takes 15 to 20 mins for collection after order placed.

We use JJ Express frequently and always thoroughly enjoy our food - mostly take away. A good menu of choices, food always fresh and hot even after a 3 mile journey.

We regularly come here i can't understand how they do the set meals for such a great price and the food is fresh and delicious. The staff are lovely and can't do enough for you.

this place isn't high end, but does serve reasonable food for the price, i eaten better chinese food but i paid double the price. its cheap and cheerful but this doesnt mean the food isnt good. I personally quite like it. you wont get anywhere cheaper in the town to eat. the lunch menu is fantastic value for money for the same price you would pay for a sandwich, crisps and a bottle of juice in a shop you can get a decent meal and you wont leave hungry. they offer takeaway and sit in. Some people put this place down but when you look at what your paying for your meal its actually good value for money.

We have sat in the restaurant and had takeaway food, very accommodating staff, always pleasant, food always hot and plentiful. Always a good shout for a takeaway with free delivery or for sitting in.

Very disappointed not much to write About here yes it is cheap but the food is disgusting not a good choice of restaurants

the food here is quite good good price and friendly staff katrina is quite chatty but she does make sure you get looked after unfortunately she sometimes gets the orders wrong its hard work

We usually use the Riverside Chinese but as it was closed due to holidays, we went for JJs as we've had food from there in the past. The premises themselves is pretty basic but the food quality is more than acceptable and very reasonably priced. We had our food delivered and there is no delivery charge if the food bill comes to just over £13. I had chosen the Chow Mein special consisting of prawns, various meats and veg in an oyster sauce. The veg was nice and crisp and thoroughly enjoyed it. I would happily have another meal from JJs in the future

Hawick has very few international restaurants open for business lunches mid-week. After searching for what seemed ages my colleague and I came across JJXpress. This is a small establishment, just off the main shopping area in Hawick. The waiter was very friendly and offered advice on the simple menu. A 3 course lunch was priced at £3.99, which is ridiculously cheap by any standards. The portions served were sufficient and the food tasty. Would recommend this restaurant to anyone requiring a speedy lunch and traditional chinese food.

the food is ok for takeaway, but his restaurant is very dirty, not very clean the waitress is not very knowledgable about the cuisine, the toilets are something out, of a bygone era, you have to use it to believe it, the gas boiler for the kitchen is in the toilet, it's totally filthy, and scary to use it, you have to go to the kitchen area to use it, and the door doesn't lock properly and you can hear them cook,

Cheap greasy food overly salty chips and just a bit of a mess. Was recommended to us but we were very disappointed got a takeaway and fair enough it was cheap compared to others but was very basic and no taste .

We had a good meal here recently. It was a set meal with a starter, crispy duck for the second course, the main course and a dessert. £9.95. There was nothing outstanding but the portions were generous and the food tasty.The staff were friendly and helpful.

Small, intimate place with no frills. Food very nice - I recommend the hot and sour soup and the chow mein dishes. Service comes with a smile!

Went here for a carry out and had the chow mien house special. Everything very fresh about the dish and very tasty. The restaurant itself does not intend to be very flash inside. But the service is very friendly and the meals are good value for money. The lunches are probably the best buy in Town and anyone for a taste of Chinese should give this place a visit

We were staying at Jedburgh and went to Hawick for something to eat. After looking on here to see what was out there, we came across this one and it certainly didn't disappoint. Good food and great value for money, the staff couldn't do enough to help u either

Good value Chinese the food is great and the staff very welcoming and friendly. They have set menus at lunch times and in the evenings and have a good choice to pick from.

More than impressed with this cosy establishment. Staff are very attentive and make you feel welcome as soon as you step through the door.The food is incredible and the price accommodates this. There is no catch in their deals unlike other Chinese restaurants.I would recommend JJs to everyone.

Being local, this is always first choice for a chinese meal whether for take away or eat in. The food is consistently good and varied, and can't be beaten in value for money terms. A real credit to Hawick

Been a Regular at JJs since it opened, friendly little establishment always plenty smiles and Banter with new and old customers, john & Katrina and rest of the Staff always happy go lucky and friendly and attentive. Food always boiling Hot & consistent and good, you get a great selection on the Buffet style menu for under £8 or you can choose off the normal menu. Get decent big portions of food too which is an added bonus! No matter when I've been in the place goes like a fair, always busy and do a hell of a delivery takeaways, which tells its on story. Drink very reasonably priced wether a beer, vodka or a can of juice it's not expensive unlike you normally find in Chinese restaurants, that's where they catch you out if the food is cheap! But not at JJs, it's all value for money and good grub. Expect to get well fed and a drink for under £20 per couple and still get change. Well worth trying! And if you haven't tried it yet then where have you been? Get along now See you next week JJs

Fantastic food, and excellent value for money with brilliant deals for the days when you want a little bit of everything. The only take away I will get delivered from Hawick as they are the only place that delivers the food hot.

A small, basic looking restaurant with high quality food that even the smallest budget could afford. Staff are fantastic and always on hand to help. Whether you order take-away or sit in the quality of food stays the same. Every meal Is cooked to order and at a very speedy rate. Take away deliveries are always quick and hot when they arrive so what more could you ask for. Deffo worth a visit.

This is the best Chinese food I have eaten their menu can be set or individual there is no scrimping on quality, it doesn't break the bank for a family meal with drinks the staff and owners are so friendly and we regularly eat there. It's a must if you like fresh well cooked Chinese

Being a big chinese food fan I have used all of the chinese take aways in hawick. It didnt take me long to find the best one . And that for me was jjxpress. I have been using jjxprese for the last 6-7 years and as sad as it sounds on first name terms with the staff . The staff have always been friendly. A great telephone mannar. and always keen to help . 5 star *****And cheaper than everywere else but no compromise on taste and quality !!!

The set menu here is amazing value and the food is tremendousYou get soup for starters,6 dfferent varieties,mixed starter for the next corse and then any main meal with rice and chips too. the sweet and sour was splendid and the roast chicken Chinese style is my personal favorite,you then have a pudding,I had the banana fritters and couldn't finish them because I was stuffed but they were lovely. It's not a 5 star restaurant and nothing suggests that it is but the service is 5 stars, the food was hot and brilliant, overall great value for money. Will definitely be back

Situated in the centre of Hawick, this Chinese restaurant ihas one of the most basic interiors that you might find, but the staff are very friendly and it must boast of one of the most price competitive menus that I've experienced. Please refer to their website which is quite amazing. There is nothing wrong with the quality of the food either and the sweet and sour soup is to die for. Not for a romantic meal but if you're after decent quality food which will not empty to your wallet, this is the place
