Jerkpit Caribbean Smokey Grill in Barking and Dagenham

Ordered food in store which took 35 minutes, then got home and didn’t even get one of the meals plus the portions are tiny. Food wasn’t great but dumpling was okay. Highly wouldn’t recommend. Also staff couldn’t work out the till or the card machine. Pretty shocking.

Red pea soup was 9/10, jerk was 10/10. The curry goat was a bit tasteless. The guy was very nice serving us.

I've been coming here for a while and the jerk chicken is always great. I tend to go for the hot option - which is nicely spicy (but ask for mild or medium if you can't handle it!). I also recommend the coco jerk sandwich if you're looking for a larger lunchtime snack.

The food is good... A must try and the chef has a welcoming personality.

JerkPit provided the catering for my 60th and boy oh boy the food was fantastic we had 5 dishes on the menu from the brown rice and peas right down to the fried fish, curry mutton no complaints. The vegetarian dish was packed with potatoes broccoli carrots peas the dish was delicious not one guest complained. Food presentation was professionally displayed and the staff went beyond and above to help my guest feel welcoming I had over 150 guest and every single person enjoyed their meal. I will be using JerkPit for my next event. I have never known any catering services to be so outstanding in tastes professionalism and performance. They arrived on time set up with no hassle and at the end of the night their equipment was cleared and they left the venue in a timely manner. 👏🏾👏🏾👏🏾👏🏾🙏🏾

Was introduced to this place about 3 years ago by a friend and never fails me only place I go for yard food 100%. Every time I order online or walk in for takeaway never let me down, and today I went in and they had no coleslaw and the lovely lady made it fresh for me always a pleasure to come here never rude bless up yourselfs @ jerk pit

The rice tasted burnt, the chicken was chewy and tough probably old, the vegetables were soaked in something similar to mustard. Overall this food was the worst Caribbean food I have personally tasted and felt as Caribbean as Skegness. It did not help that the wrap I ordered came wrapped in paper from the Morrison's supermarket butcher's. For the money I paid I will definitely not be ordering again. Be aware that this may not be a restaurant run by or cheffed by Caribbean people.

The food itself is ok it’s just a shame that it’s rare for them to get your order completely correct. 9 times out of 10 they miss something from your order like a drink, chips or sauce which is pretty annoying when you expect what you paid for. The portion size for large meals should also be a lot bigger. I don’t know why they’re using small sized containers for large portion meals.

Really nice food, but the food arrived nearly 2 hours late and the large portions were in small, flat containers. Festival didn’t arrive either.

I had an incredible experience at Jerk Pit! The curry goat was absolutely delicious, bursting with authentic Caribbean flavors. It was tender, perfectly seasoned, and paired wonderfully with the sides. Every bite was a delight. The highlight of my visit, however, was the amazing service. The lady who served me was incredibly friendly, welcoming, and attentive. She made me feel right at home, taking the time to ensure that everything was just right. Her warm personality and genuine care for the customers really made my experience special. If you’re looking for great Caribbean food with outstanding service, I highly recommend Jerk Pit. customer service is very bad i ordered for takeaway and it took very long for my order as there was not much customers and when i asked them they didnt reply in a respective way it was rude there was lady in front counter she was very rude

The food was flavoursome however they unfortunately forgot to provide coleslaw for both our meals.

Chicken wings were amazing, extremely well seasoned! I wasn't keen on the red pea soup this time & the bakes, whilst nice, were little oily. I think could have been dried off a little more with paper towel to soak up excess oil but still enjoyable.

Food is tasty, but portions are tiny. I ordered the Mac n cheese for my son, but it was slightly spicy for him. So would appreciate if the Mac n cheese had no spice.

One of the dishes containing rice and beans was broken on the side. There were missing fried festival. The fried festival I received was so hard I couldn’t bite it.

Ordered a wrap meal with fries & drink and a saltfish fritter. I got a burger with plantain, i cant eat either, so looks like my late working lunch is a greasy fritter and a can of Ting after spending £13.30. I'm sad and I'm hungry. Never again

I made an order for a regular meal and they gave me my meal in two small salad containers. I was literally upset. So not worth it my money!

Food incomplete and rude service. I then had to book an Uber because they were an hour away by public transport. Food was dry and half missing from the order with no care from the manager. There was also a bug in my food.

Ordered from Ubereats for the first time and half of the order was missing and the other half had no taste. AVOID as I also so a cockroach in my order.

Ordered from this hell hole on Uber eats. Delivery was over an hour late and they gave me someone else’s order and refuse to answer their phone. Uber was no help ofcourse. Worst place I’ve ever ordered from. Do yourself a favour and choose somewhere else

I came here on a whim, and I'm really surprised they don't have better reviews. I ordered the jerk chicken and rice + drink meal and some plantain. First of all, the lady who works there is absolutely lovely, as well as the chef! Both really sweet, funny, helpful and accommodating. They were both really considerate and sweet about my allergies, the lady made sure to ask the chef about any allergens that may be present in the dishes and made me feel very welcome and taken care of. I didn't order many dishes, only the one meal but the food was great! I didn't try the rice and peas because I'm allergic to beans but the jerk chicken sauce soaked into the white rice was delicious already, I am sure the rice and peas is even more delish! The jerk chicken is smoky and well seasoned, really delicious! The plantain was amazing of course, sweet and moreish. Also the portions are really good! I have no complaints. Great customer service, lovely people running the place and cooking the food, and delicious, fresh food. I will definitely be visiting again to try the other dishes 😍

Bought food for 20 people. Oxtail..curry goat..jerk chicken. I had food poisoning from the goat and rice and peas. The rest of the group did not like the food at all. IF YOU HAVE SENSE DO NOT EAT HERE!!

That is by far the nicest jerk chicken I’ve had. Nothing on the bone all nicely diced. I had medium heat sauce with rice and coleslaw. It was absolutely banging and I will return. Super friendly staff and didn’t have to wait long at all. Highly recommend because a good West Indian take away is not easy to find. Loved it, thanks 🤩

WRONG ORDER DELIVERED!!! Seems to be a recurring issue with this place - how have you not sorted that out yet? Ordered 2x meals and neither came with rice. No mac and cheese sent and instead a pork sausage and dumplings were sent (I strictly don’t eat pork!). Really disappointing and won’t be ordering from here again.

Unfortunately this restaurant did not live up to my expectations. The service was nice the server was very friendly. However the food disappointed. They ran out of coleslaw and vouched for steam veg, except I got frozen veg. Me and my partner got the boneless chicken with rice and the whole meal was very dry. They did not add any sauce it was very dry. The heat level I asked for was medium instead I got extremely hot, I was unable to enjoy my meal. Wouldn’t recommend

I try to support my own but sometimes you have no choice. The mac & cheese was awful. It's clear you're using a cheese sauce and that's it. There was no grated cheese in it. I bought two portions, one for the next day, but threw it away. There was no flavour to it whatsoever. Definitely won't be ordering that again

Package is unsustainable and not sealed, anyone delivering the food has easy access to it. The dumplings were completely raw on the inside. The rest of the food is nothing special. Definitely not worth it.

Ordered rice and peas with curry goat. Friendly team, lots of laughs on arrival, food was served and packaged promptly for take away. I was holding other items and was offered a bag which was nice. But back to the food, it was great. Will definitely visit again when in Barking

I have been using this restaurant for years now and I have never had any problems with their food. I order online for lunch, tell them what time I will pick it up and my food is always ready and hot. I also order online for my dinner after work on ocassions when I can't be asked to cook. Again my food is always ready and packed up, so when I get home I put it in the microwave and it still taste fresh. Even my family have asked me to get them some food when they want treat themselves. We are all happy customers. So keep up the good work and high standards and you'll always have our money.

Got cow skin soup and chick pea curry and coco bread, It was lovely. Full of flavours. Staff were very friendly and service was quick and professional.

I used to order from here a few years back and fort I would treat myself as I haven’t in a while but the standard off food has dropped a lot I remember getting the jerk chicken and used to be the best in east London was so tender and the jerk sauce was mouth watering, but it’s changed the jerk chicken just didn’t have that bang and the sauce was missing that flavour the portion size was good value but won’t see myself back here for a while

Ordered Curry Goat and Rice (Large) (£13.50) Curry Goat ⭐️⭐️⭐️ WASN’t fresh and didn’t taste anything like curry goat. Must’ve been reheated. Rice ⭐️⭐️⭐️ JUST OK but reheated Coleslaw ⭐️ Had to throw away. Tasted like CARAMELIZED APPLE. As you can see it’s pink and mushy vs the Sainsbury’s coleslaw which I fortunately had in my fridge Overall, WOULDN’T recommend if you want an authentic Caribbean experience. Would return but only if I’m starving hungry and there’s no other option. PS portion size was decent

Rice and peas was not traditional with no flavour and the jerk was scraps of chicken which was tasteless, burnt and dry….also very expensive for what it was will not be returning

I ordered on deliveroo. When the food arrived it was spilt all over the bag. Zero care and attention was taken when preparing my meal for delivery. I ordered a medium size jerk chicken and white rice, the portion size looks a like a child size, I received 4 peices of Jerk Chicken, compared to my husband's large size, where he got so much chicken. Tried to call the restaurant and ask them of this is normal but obviously no answer. Pictures as evidence.

Today we order food from Jerkpit Caribbean Smokey Grill. When delivery bring our food, we was one meal shots. We call to the restaurant and speak to one guy which didn't tell him name when I ask. His was very rude, to blame delivery, although not the delivery fault. Because guy from restaurant forgot put in the bag one meal. If you make mistake, don't blame nobody else. It's your fault. We was regular customer, but you have very rude worker, which one don't know how need to speak with customers. Shame!!! His all the time shouting, don't let me talk. From today you lost one of regular customer,! Because of this rude men!

Fish is cold and for the price there could have been actual steam veg not just carrots!

As someone from the Caribbean, the food at jerkpit really made me feel at home. Years and years, the food is always as great.

This shop was lovely when it first opened but it has declined ever since , always new staff it’s like the manager doesn’t pay them & they all look misarable in there apart from the boss , I had jerk chicken from there after like a year and it was trash …. So was the rice , they should make it how it was before and stop being cheap,such a shame because it was one of my favourites.
