Wonderful food and fantastic service. We popped in for a family lunch and brought the dog too. Had a lovely meal, enjoyed the atmosphere too and the interior was eye catching.

I always go to Jenkins and sons for a couple of beers in the evenings for a couple of beers whenever I'm down here. There is always a great vibe and it's normally buzzing. The staff are always very cheerful, friendly and welcoming. The building is interesting too with massive opening windows and the original tiled frontage from the old butchers and fishmongers.

What a great looking and homely feel to an old building, well lit and themed. On entrance, busy bar on right , to the left eating area. Initially disappointed on the real ale tabs on ‘not available’, however on asking, ‘barrels were being changed’, so first smile of the evening. Booked to eat, albeit arrived half hour earlier, asked if we could sit down, ‘no problem’, very courteous’Phoebe’, beers arrived to the table, albeit flat- new out the barrel- immediately changed, without hesitation, very polite gentleman waiter with a smile, great service, next beer perfect. Menu - FANTASTIC- nibbles FAB- starters INCREDIBLE- main course - AMAZING!!. Service THE BEST EVER!! ( Phoebe a credit to her employers). A must visit, truly Superb!! Very well done.

Just had the best breakfast we’ve had for a very long time. Full English, veggie English and waffles with bacon and maple syrup were all exceptional- and great service!

The waiter was amazing, so polite and very informed about the menu, we were here on the 16th of November at 7:15 and were pleasantly surprised to find this hidden gem in Poole, amazing cocktails amazing food, well done staff and incredible live music !! Wir haben eine Woche um die Ecke Urlaub gemacht und sind dort 2x essen gewesen. Man war sehr freundlich, dass essen gut und wirklich sehr reichlich (!) vor allem die „Sonntagsbraten“ Gerichte, die es nur am Wochenende gibt (Achtung, dann sind von der „Normalen“ Karte nicht alle Gerichte zu haben), aber auch die Hamburger und die Desserts waren Klasse! Hinweis: wenn es sehr voll ist, ist es laut dort, wenn man sich beim Essen unterhalten möchte wird das schwierig… Und es war schon ungewöhnlich, dass man bei der Reservierung vorab 10 Pfund bezahlen musste, hätte mich beinahe abgeschreckt, wurden aber automatisch von der Rechnung abgezogen! Wir würden immer wieder hin gehen!

We haven't actually visited the restaurant but we were so excited to try after a friend's recommendation and a planned trip to Poole. Unfortunately we tested positive for covid and aren't able to attend our booking now. Completely understand the need for a deposit to book on a Sunday but non refundable when you give over 24 hours notice is a bit cheeky! I emailed the restaurant contact that I had a response from previously, as soon as we knew, as I didn't want them to miss the chance of rebooking the table. I didn't get a response from him at all, only a generic response saying my booking had been cancelled. If he had replied to me, I would have asked if we could have booked again for a couple of weeks time as we plan to head to Poole when we are well. We'll book somewhere else now. I'm all for supporting small businesses but it goes both ways. Top tip, as they say on their website, don't book unless you plan to be there so please make sure you can foresee the future first

Came in for dinner with my friends, we all felt very looked after by our server Phoebe. Really nice atmosphere, the food is spot on especially the pizza and a nice selection of draught beer.

The evening was to celebrate a birthday n au revoir to family. Some it was a first visit. Meet n greet staff very friendly. Drinks speedily delivered. However it then went downhill. Starters came out after 45 munutes. Then an hour later the mains arrived. Bearing in mind this was prebooked n menus provided. in the family 2 children who waited 1hour 45mins for sausage n chips!! We were asked in this time about drinks but reminded the staff we needed to eat. At last meal arrived i was looking forwardto a tasty meaty beef burger but got a black burnt circle that looked like bottom of shoe. Not edible but i didnt want to make a fuss at that point. This was now 9pm we had been there at 7. Totally unacceptable. On looking around the place needs to be deep cleaned n refurbished bfore letting people eat or drink wouldnt have noticed this if my food was edible.. So disappointed. Eating out is a luxury n expensive i pay good money for good food. I wouldnt have served this to any of my family let alone paying guests!! so if you want people to come to your restaurant you need to up your game or be prepared to refund money for sub standard food preparation. Reputation is paramount these days n yours is certainly flawed.

First time visit (and last). Upon arrival were welcomed and the waitress took our drinks order. Whilst awaiting others we were asked several times if we needed further drinks. Once others arrived and after waiting a period of time the first courses where set in front of those requiring them. As we had not only pre-booked the table but also sent in our food requirements it was thought that the second main course would not be long in arrival. Some 1hr 45 minutes later they started arriving. The beef burgers were over cooked (cremated), the standard chips not crispy and the hand cut triple cooked chips were definitely not triple cooked and even had their outer skin with black 'eyes' still on them (saves peeling I suppose?). All the time waiting and whilst eating we were asked numerous times if we required any drinks, Obviosly looking at the drink prices the waitresses where programmed to sell as much drink as possible (good profit maker). The premises looked dowdy with the wall tiles showing signs that there had been items stuck on them previously and not cleaned off enough. The whole place seemed in need of a good Spring Clean. The item I have left till last is the gents toilet. Going in I found a small child's urinal (being used by an adult) but the cubicle remained to be seen. There was urine all over the floor and the toilet basin. The seat on the basin was dis-attached on one securing/hinge point making the seat dangerous and unusable.. The only toilet roll with tissue on was on the floor in the urine whilst the empty cardboard centre of the other was on the holder. In hind sight I should have made this known to the staff! At this point whilst I did not wish to upset those others in my party it was time to leave and then haver a poor nights sleep keep thinking of all that I had found on my one and only visit to Jenkins and son, Penn Hill, Poole. Dorset. The owners / operator of this establishment should open their eyes and have a good look at the premises and take into concern my and others criticism of the venue.

Came here for a meal with my other half. He had the cheese and bacon burger and I had the sea bream burger. Both were absolutely delicious. Polite and friendly staff. Would definitely come here again

No Covid concerns here! This venue let anyone and everyone, the night we were there, run riot. Heavy drinking, mixing tables, group hugs and chats. All things, I personally would not mind, bar the current climate . All other decent venues are working hard to stay friendly but responsible, yet this bar/ restaurant seem unconcerned. Moved to gossip next door. In comparison, a way better experience . Jenkins , we’ve been so many times, but frankly we have lost all enthusiasm. We won’t be back . It seems you were to scared to stand up to any responsibility. Either that or you simply could not care less?

We called on on Saturday 19th December. Had a lovely bacon Sandwich. No skimping on bacon and the bread warmed. PERFECT. A lovely Christmas coffee with cream syrup.Wonderfully clean, we had no concerns about the covid safe environment. Visited again with my daughter on Monday 21st. This time a slice of beautifully moist Christmas cake with Brandy custard and a Coffee with Bailey's. Once again the staff were welcoming and professional. Spotlessly clean environment, and excellent control of social distancing.

This is a well run place with lots of atmosphere and the food is always good. The portions are very generous and this meal was so huge I asked for a doggy bag!( see photos)We chose the Sandbanks fish and chips and started with a nice soup and a crispy chicken dip.

Tuesday Night is 2 For 1 Mains at Jenkin's & Son's and we were amazed at the quality of the food and service we received !!! Such lovely staff all of them super friendly and attentive. We all ordered the Jenkins burgers - and they were out of this world. I can honestly say one THE best burger's I've ever eaten. Worth every penny of their £17 price tag and we were lucky enough to get 2 For The Price of 1. We were still talking about how good they were 24 hours later. OUTSTANDING. Highly recommend.

We had a takeaway pizza from Jenkins last night & both my husband and I thought it was one of the best pizzas we’d had! East Dorset pizza, normally with charcuterie & chilli but we swapped the chilli for mushrooms with no hassle. Pizza base & charcuterie was crisp But cheese lovely and gooey - just fab!

Met friends for drinks and had the best evening. Jenkins is our local and its really good to see it thriving post lockdown. Its a great neighbourhood spot, with plenty of outside seating.Service was stand out and special credit is due to our server Steph. He was attentive, super thoughtful (I ordered an oat milk cappuccino - they only had soya so he got someone to pop to the shop next door to get some) made us feel like the only people there - whilst delivering equal service to everyone else around us. He made our evening really enjoyable and it felt equal to any fine dining experience - Thank you so much.

We went here on Monday 31st for a late lunch and the food was divine! The three burgers were well rated and the pizza was one of the best I have ever eaten! The staff were very good with sanitising and were friendly :) We will definitely be coming back if in the area

The staff were incredibly friendly and accommodating as a first impression, this proceeded throughout our meal where they were friendly, helpful and attentive giving the impression they genuinely wanted us to have an enjoyable breakfast. The service alone was a five star experience for us but then the food came, I struggled to decide between the regular and veggie breakfasts because they both looked so good! Eventually I went for the veggie one. The meal was superb, the halloumi was excellent, the hash brown was lovely and light and crisp but three things stood out. The veggie sausages were about the best I've ever had anywhere, the sourdough toast was superb, almost fried bread in texture and the mushrooms were simply incredible.Price wise it isn't cheap but you very much get what you pay for, superb food and service.Very excited to go back again!

Zero social distancing, staff coming within centimetres of you unnecessarily. Tables should have been blocked off to allow for distancing between others. We booked a table weeks in advance for a catch up with friends and we got put on a bar table not suitable for catching up. We asked to be moved as there was plenty of available tables and the manager said he would sort this but began serving others in between. Had to wait inside for about 15 minutes before raising this with another member of staff and he seated us elsewhere. The food was ok but nothing special. We were glad we were using the eat out to help out scheme as I wouldn’t have wanted to pay full price.

I haven't been to Jenkins & Sons for a few years and just happen to drive past and we decided to stop for dinner. We were greeted by a lovely waitress who told us it's 241 on mains on a Monday which was great. We had the squid for starter which was delicious and followed by the Jenkins burger and the fish and chips with a twist. Everything was amazing. The Italian waiter was also very nice and made sure we were fine. We will definitely going back more often and will be recommending our friends to go.

Just come home to Ireland after a weekend break with my sister in law , what a fab time I had made extra special by my two visits to Jenkins while I was in Poole . First visit was for breakfast & second was for Sunday lunch . We were made so welcome by Ben the owner , Chris his manager & their staff . I can’t recommend it enough from the ambiance, the fabulous food not forgetting the wonderful staff , I had one of their burgers & the Lemon zest for dessert it was Orgasmic . My sister in law had her own pizza made specially for her .To top it off Chris made us an Irish Coffee & a Baileys Coffee , they were top notch Chis well done so don’t delay pop down to Jenkins & enjoy

Lovely food, brilliant reassuringly busy and buzzy vibe : great wine and well kept real ale all delivered by attentive and happy staff (Liv & Tom). We'll be telling all our friends to give a go and invite us so we can get back for another excellent evening.

This is the first time that my wife and her friend visited Jenkins & Sons under new ownership. They both agreed that the staff were very accommodating and the dog was also made very welcome. My wife’s pulled pork flatbread was delicious and her friends vegan curry was equally as tasty. They were both in agreement that they would be recommending J & S to friends and we are actually taking the family for Sunday Lunch at time of writing this.

Popped in for lunch with a friend. I had the special fish and chips without the sauce and it was really tasty. It was pretty empty so there was no need to book. The waiter was very attentive and helpful.

I visited Jenkins with my partner for date night last Wednesday after being recommended by a friend. We wanted to find a nice restaurant with live music and somewhere we could bring the dog. We were greeted by friendly staff straight away and offered a bowl of water and treats for the dog as they sat us at our table, which was a lovely touch! When we were choosing our drinks we were told that it was happy hour, meaning 25% off all our drinks and when it came to ordering our food the waitress explained that there was a deal on Wednesdays which meant we would get one of our starters free, both lovely surprises ! All together nice evening with fantastic live music to listen to, great service and the food was extremely tasty with generous portion sizes! will definitely be returning, the place just had a very relaxed, cosy and friendly atmosphere !
