Jemz Caribbean in Bedford

I had the pleasure of attending this venue today with my partner and friends. The food was absolutely delicious and the service was fantastic. I’m looking forward to my next visit with some of my relatives in the very near future.

Food always tastes 11/10. I only wish they closed later than 18:00pm.

I 've been here a few times, this is the best Jamaican food in Bedford. The oxtail is succulent and flavourful, the rice isn't bland. I can cook both things to the same standard but if I'm not interested in spending the 3hrs to cook it all without a pressure cooker. I just come here. Keep up the good work.

This is the best Caribbean restaurant in Bedford. I ordered curry goat, rice and peas, yam and plantain and we were all licking our plates. They ran out of my favourite carrot cake. It must be delicious. They close at 6pm which l could not get to after work. The boss assured me they are working on that. A great and excellent family run business. Friendly, approachable and welcoming. I was delighted. 10 out of 10 for me.

The chicken patty that they had was beyond disgusting and was not eatable at all , extremely hard and dry and there was barely any chicken on it the rest of the food was good

I've worked round the corner from Jemz for 2 years and never knew this 'gem' was next to where I'm based! Incredible food, plenty of options which all looked incredible, great service and nice atmosphere allowing dine in and takeaways. I went for the oxtail and rice and peas with a side portion of coleslaw and everything was spot on! Price was fair I'd say, maybe a little more than what I'd usually pay for a lunch time meal but the authentic flavours definitely compensate for that! So happy I've found this spot as I'm a sucker for Jamaican food! Props to you guys. See u soon! 💯

Great Jamaican food. Had the curry goat which was tasty and tender. Fries dumpling was fluffy and crispy at the sides. Family had the soup which was also tasty.

Awesome food, everything we tried was amazing. Made with love and passion, great friendly and knowledgeable staff. I had dinner for 4 people and the portions were generous and tasty.The only downside is we could not find a menu either online or printed so hd to guess what they did. Their Instagram is mainly a lot of pictures (fairly useless and no real information), Facebook was very out of date and their website pretty poor.Having said that, we will be back. Thank you

As a curious person and love great taste good woman I decide to visit "Jemz" very spontaneously, while for reason God show me this place.In first option I find myself very happy about atmosphere and music there !Something what my soul needed Those people are very friendly and they have a wall of achievements what shows that they work smart for what they have today and they succeed for sure .So I do not only have occasion to try dilicious ,home prapare Caribbean food, but also as a vegetarian I made my self full Each bit of food was for me as a step to paradise I love food haha so it was double pleasure I ate rice with beans - mmmmm mniam !! I do not remember all names while I will attach photo .Even side salad was very creamy and perfect for this dish .On the end I blow my tongue with carrot cake and apart from very sweet top I do enjoy Thank you ❤️Happy customer ✨

Scrumptious food. I like the jerk chicken with rice and peas. They do a special homemade chilli sauce that's not for the feint hearted. Chicken wings are excellent. Everything freshly made. This is a must try!!!

Amazing goat curry, so tasty and tender. Personally I prefer it a little more moist but when it packs flavour like that, who am I to argue. Rice and peas cooked just right and the Achee and salt fish just as delicious. Lovely place, great food and fab staff!

Why going elsewhere? Jemz is the best, portions are amazing, the curry, fried chicken, and jerk are the best! Their fish is so tasty and the fritters and side dishes are to die for. We have been coming here for years and despite trying other Caribbean restaurants locally once, Jemz wins hands down every time. Thank you Jemz, keep up the good work.

I have been eating Caribbean food at Jemz for the past 4 years and want to recognise the quality cuisine provided by this Caribbean restaurant which is mainly influenced by the Jamaican culture.The food might seem pricey but the portions sizes match the price.Best of all the service is exceptional, professional and always with a smile.My favourite by far is fried chicken with rice and peas. They have the best fried dumplins in the country. Definitely worth a visit.

When i get dj jobs in Bedford or Luton, i always visit Jemz, delicious food, and great service, wish it opened on sundays, so i can get my sunday dinner, and worth travelling 40 miles to sample quality food.

First time visiting this place and was really impressed. Friendly staff, really tasty food, huge portions, and great value. Will definitely go again.

Best food locally.. Great family run business, great atmosphere, nothing is rushed. Never had a bad meal!!

Foods is nice but stingdy tiny portions for like £8 compared to london portions. Also alot of grease in the meals and way too many bones. Not worth the money and wont be back.

Delicious food and very friendly service. We ate in this time and will definitely be using their take away in future. They were very helpful and didn't over sell. The saltfish dumplings were light, filling and delicious. Nothing was too much Trouble. The jerk chicken was flavourful and not too hot and the fried chicken was juicy and crisp without being greasy. I love going Jemz always lovely welcome to new and existing customers. You have got a very wide selection of food. So make sure you get there early or order before going. Hope you have a good time at JEMZ as much as I do.

Only stopped by for a quick snack, so not yet tried the main meals. However we were welcomed by the gentleman who was very patient and helpful. The restaurant, although small, is clean and warm. The food was tasty and the service great. Will definitely pop by again during evening time, to try the main meals.

I’ve heard lots of great things about Jemz so decided to try it out for myself and it exceeded expectations. I can honestly say it was some of the best food I have ever eaten. It’s a family run business and that definitely came across on my visit, extremely welcoming and friendly. Can’t recommend enough!

The food was done remarkably. Coming up to Bedford on my free days and I came across this restaurant. I'd definitely recommend for people to try out their food. Believe me when I say you won't be disappointed with the service.

We visited jemz today coming from Cambridge well worth the drive. Great food ,lovely and clean and the staff were very accommodating.

What's there not to like?? That is the question! Everything about Jemz is on point. The food, the service, the ambience, all on point. Patrick and Sandra consistently deliver high standards! The food is very flavorful, and contains real traditional Jamaican ingredients. If you want authentic Jamaican food in Bedford Jemz is the place to get some. My favourite meal has to be the ox-tail or curried goat with a side of plantain and mac&cheese. Yummy!! Thank you so much Patrick and Sandra for always making our dining experience special.

Lovely food. Can get busy at lunch time

The food taste nice but why can't they fill the rice tubs. Like most take away restaurants, they use the smallest tubes for rice. But unlike most take away restaurants it seems to be a problem with Jemz to give you proper portions of rice. Rice is the cheapest part of the meal and I am not a fan of places that hold back with rice portions. Come on Jemz, fill the rice tubs for takeaway meals.Poor is for the quantity NOT quality.

Extremely rude & unprofessional service, i stopped by in passing, and admittedly did not realise they closed in 30 mins. The owner stated rudely that she only had 3 dishes available. To which i replied Ok. I mentioned a side dish to my son to which the owner abruptly and unnessarily shouted loudly "we only have what i've just said" At which point my appetite left and so did we. I unfortunately would not recommend this business based on the service.

Excellent service wonderful food very professional

I travelled all the way from Northaptonshire to try this cuisine from recommendation but I was left disappointed. From the moment we entered we didn’t get a warm welcome. The owner was not very welcoming, she seemed to want to rush us to take the order. The meat dishes had far too many bones, I know Caribbean food comes with bones but every bite pretty much had bones and that put me off.

Ist visit. Went with 3 friends. Very modern and smart. Easy to find on public transport. High quality home-cooked food in very good portion sizes. Service very friendly and prices very reasonable. Portion sizes very good indeed.

I loved my visit to this amazing restaurant today. The hosts were very warm, friendly and welcoming whilst maintaining a healthy level of professionalism. Patrick is a doctor, a food doctor. He asked us what we liked and wanted and offered tasty sides to go with our food. The ambiance was lovely and classy with a nice vibe. The food was amazing and the best I have tasted in years. Cooked to perfection and a truly culinary delight. I have been to the Caribbean on multiple visits and am well qualified to spot the genuine article (The real McCoy) and now don't have to travel across the world as the heart of the Caribbean is located right here. I am definitely going to visit a lot more (in-between some serious gym workouts lol) Thanks Jemz, you are in my opinion the best in town.

The food is really good hear. I had the Ackee and salt fish which I have not had since Jamaica. You can also get a vegetarian meal but you need to order ahead for them to prepare it for you.

Brilliant food, jerk chicken is unreal, highly recommend it!

Truly amazing food. I could not fault it, the rice, the spice, the friendly service. They have it all. The restaurant may need a little spruce up but when you're serving food this good, your customers will keep coming back no matter what! Really a hidden jem (sic) just off town, parking is available at the nearby supermarkets. You have to try it, you'll be back for seconds.

They don't do any vegetarian food unless pre-booked an hour before and the staff didn't seem to care that we had just walked there and then queued to get food.

Excellent home cooked Caribbean as we were passing through on our way home. Can recommend the goat curry meal - and the hot sauce! Owner made us very welcome. Thanks to the previous reviewers who saved us from Service Station hell. Will be back next term.

I have been trying quite a few places serving Carribbean food and I must admit this place is a no. 1!!!

My Daughter brought me here for lunch the staff was very friendly and welcoming service was very efficient and the ambiance was good but the food was awesome absolutely beautiful we had fried Hake with rice and peas,macaroni pie and coleslaw to die for will definitely be going back when I am in Bedford.

This is the only Caribbean place I have tried in Bedford. It was perfectly acceptable and may well be the best available in Bedford for all I know. The staff were very friendly and helpful.
