Quick service! Great atmosphere Food was 3/10 as I believe it was Expensive for the amount given, Great rum punch mocktail reheated but not very well.

Everything we had was sooo good 😍 get the oxtail and jerk wings!! Servers were lovely too

Second visit here, completely different experience to our first positive visit. Despite emailing requesting the pre order on seafood and an allergy request email not answered. Tried phoning no answer and no answerphone. Went into restaurant and staff confirmed no knowledge of emails, but would phone boss. On arrival waited ages for our drinks order to be taken, told could not cater for allergy request so would guest be prepared to "risk it". Offered complimentary prawns to make up for missing the preorder, which was nice, but food jus dissappointlng.. Such a shame , staff more interested in talking to their friends than serving customers. Had ask 3 times for bill. Will not be going back.

Ordered at 3pm to be delivered at 6:30pm. Order finally turned up at 7:45pm and it was wrong (ordered two mains and a side, one main and two sides were delivered). Too hungry to argue at that point, won’t be ordering from Carumbar again.

Food was delicious, was still nice and hot when it arrived too. Will be ordering again in the future!

We found Carumbar on ‘TooGoodToGo’ - thought we would give it a try and it definitely did not disappoint! The food we received was absolutely delicious and portion size was incredible. Easily feed 2 people with 1 TooGoodToGo bag! The macaroni cheese was banging and with the wings it was sensational! We got chickpea curry, plain rice, rice and beans, chicken curry, fried chicken, jerk chicken breast and wings, wings in a sweet bbq sauce, macaroni cheese - in total 16 tubs of food, each and every part was beautifully packed with flavour and so enjoyable! We will definitely be coming back for more! I am looking forward to trying Carumbar’s fish dishes ! Keep on doing what you’re doing! 10/10!

Absolutely incredible food - such a brilliant meal. Came here for lunch with a friend and genuinely wanted to stay until dinner. The food was unbelievable.

Nice and warm little Caribbean restaurant. The staff was welcoming and the food came right away. The food was incredible. I had curry goat and the size was so big that I ended up with leftovers to take home. The owner Sophia, was so welcoming as well and lovely! I highly recommend it!! If you are around Bedford, give this a try!!

Great food, vibrant atmosphere and good, competent staff.

Great restaurant and a more unique offering in the town centre. The vibe is really fun and friendly, with all the staff being super welcoming, even greeting from inside the kitchen. It’s not a massive place so you’ll want to get there early during busy periods if you want a table, although there are some options on the pavement outside for seating. Really traditional menu, both for food and drinks, and the presentation of each dish is great. Keep an eye open for some of the themed nights they offer but I’ll certainly be back - one of my favourite places in the centre!

No es un lugar masivo, por lo que querrás llegar temprano durante los períodos de mucha actividad si quieres una mesa, aunque hay algunas opciones en el pavimento afuera para sentarte. Menú realmente tradicional, tanto para comida como para bebidas, y la presentación de cada plato es genial. Mantenga un ojo abierto para algunas de las noches temáticas que ofrecen, pero sin duda volveré - uno de mis lugares favoritos en el centro!

Went three times to this restaurant. First time, they were closed but nothing online was showing otherwise. Second time, we had to stare and call out to the waitresses after being seated for 5 minutes and being the only one there, so we could get a menu and we waited 45 minutes to get our food (I get it, it's fresh). Third time, they were open and had a sign showing they were in business outside. Again we sat down and waited several minutes before someone came to tell us that they not taking in new customers in as they had a party on and that we had to leave. Great food but the service was so poor that we will not be visiting again 😢

I’ve been waiting to come in for a while and I wasn’t disappointed, the service is amazing, the food is delicious and so are the cocktails. I had an amazing experience and I would 100% recommend it. I’m definitely coming back

The decor and atmosphere was great and we forgot we were in bedford for a few hours. The service was excellent and the owner was very friendly. Above all this the food was TO DIE FOR!

Car Rum Bar is an absolutely remarkable place to go out for food! The food is delicious, the staff are so friendly and the owner is always present, walking around, taking orders and making sure her guests are happy. Had the vegan platter for one, and not only was it gigantic, it was incredibly tasty too. Thank you CarRumBar!

Food was ok, nothing special and definitely not worth the price. I had the jerk wings and the quarter chicken, the sauce was not to my liking, too salty and the chicken was dry and hard to swallow.

The jerk chicken is absolutely delicious and smokey.

This is such a great spot. I have ticked April 2024 for the date of my visit cause that’s when I went for my birthday. But I have been back since. It’s a great place to celebrate. Let the staff know and you’ll get the red carpet treatment. The staff were attentive and service was quick. I’d recommend booking ahead but don’t let that stop you walking up. You may get lucky. Authentic Caribbean food that tasted like my childhood. Simply delicious!

If you're looking for genuine Jamaican food in vibrant surroundings then this is the place for you. From the second we entered to the time we left we were made to feel welcome. The staff were bubbly and kind and the food was absolutely incredible. Even the owner popped to the table to ensure we were happy and was an absolute delight. The depth of flavour in the curry goat was spectacular and the jerk chicken was piquant and succulent. Superb!

I’ve been to Carumbar far too many times to mention and only have good things to say. I’ve celebrated birthdays as well as family events and each time the staff have created a fun and vibrant atmosphere. The entertainment events are well attended and if you happen to be there when the owner Sophia Soul sings, you are definitely in for a treat. The food is fantastic! Authentic and tasty and the rum punch is a must-try!

Amazing doing yet another birthday dinner at Carumbar. It didn't disappoint. As usual the service was friendly and efficient. The owner remembered us and we had a lovely chat before the food came out and OMG portion size and taste amazing!!!

It was my first time at a carribean restaurant and I had an amazing time with my family. The restaurant owner was super nice and friendly and the food was more than amazing. Service was impeccable and the music? amazing! I highly recommend if you are looking for value for money and a lover of good food and vibes.

I love this place. The food is sooooo good. You think you won't finish your plate but you will. I recommend the pit-stop jerk chicken or any pit-stop combo, really; my friend said the vegetarian combo was amazing. On top of that, the decor is lovely, the vibe is warm and friendly, the staff are super nice, the music and background TV is good (the Muppets were on? loved that) and the rum punch makes everything better. I promise. Also kid-friendly, but I think it would be coolest just going with a group of friends.

Food was nice and hot when it arrived and very tasty. Unfortunately, the coleslaw was missing and there was only a small amount of plantain and salad.

Amazing food and amazing service! Came from Milton Keynes as I fancied some oxtail, my usual place was closed which is how I come across this gem! I will definitely be coming back with friends/family. Honestly so glad my usual place was closed otherwise I wouldn’t know about carumbar! Incredible- the smell from the jerk chicken grilling too was unrealllll! Can’t wait to try it on my next visit! 10/10

We booked for a group of six at late notice for 9.00 on a Friday evening. The guys at the restaurant made us feel welcome straight away and as always the food was great. Never felt like we were rushed despite being one of the last tables there. A few of the group hadn’t been before but said they’d definitely be back

Hi guys. My fiance and I booked to try this Caribbean restaurant that we walked past a few times in Bedford. We got there early and was welcomed to a table straight away. Decor was good, bar looked great and open view to the kitchen was good. The menu was exactly what I would want from a Caribbean restaurant. But FYI, if you want seafood, you do have to order 24 hours before arrival. We straight away got stuck into a jug of rum punch, which I loved as it had the lovely taste of Wray and Nephew. Unfortunately my fiance is not so keen on that rum. We got another jug of cherry rum cocktail with fizzy pineapple which was lush also. I was chatting to the bar staff about overproof rum and had a shot of rum that was very strong, tasted like fireball gobstoppers (if you are old enough to remember them?) To the staffs surprise I thought it was OK compared to a overproof rum one of my best mates mum brought back from St Lucia. I ordered the curried goat with rice, peas, and slaw. It was yum. Velvety sauce, tender goat, nicely cooked rice. Went down lovely with some of the plantain side we had. My fiance had the chickpea curry with rice and peas. I love to try a veg dish and was pleasantly surprised, considering I'm not fond of chickpea, that it was just as tasty as my meat dish. There was people coming in without bookings and seated which showed the restaurant will always try to fit everyone in. They also have a delivery service on delivery apps and takeaway service for walk ins. Really chuffed, really stuffed, and after the rum punch, a little bit merry 😁🍹

Probably one of the worst things I’ve ever eaten. Strange atmosphere and seating arrangements when we arrived, should’ve left at that point. Kitchen mainly full of young staff members. Waiting times ridiculously long. Ordered “jerk chicken and rice and peas”, if you can call it that. The chicken had merely been roasted and some sauce drizzled over it at the end, it was horrific, I couldn’t believe I paid for that when I can cook a million times better and at least bother seasoning the meat at home myself. Didn’t bother taking another spoonful of the rice and peas. Would never come back here again.

Vegan platter was excellent but big enough for 2 at lunchtime, very friendly staff, good vibes. Plantain and fried dumpling on the side was good too.

Visited Carumbar as part of a large group for a birthday meal. Some of the guests arrived a little late and the staff were very accommodating and friendly. The restaurant had a lovely vibe to it and was clean and tidy from the tables to the toilet. I had the Carumbar Style filleted snapper which was delicious. Full of flavour and great level of spice. Good portion size, would definitely recommend. Thank you Carumbar!

The chicken was dry. The salad was a joke - probably less than a handful of “salad”, the chicken was placed on top so the salad in question was wilted and soggy. So disappointed with the food and the price we paid for it, wish I ordered somewhere else.

Three of us ate here on a midweek evening and had a delicious meal. We shared pit stop for 2 which included a chicken curry, stew and grilled bass + jerk wings and crispy pork belly accompanied with rice and peas. Super friendly service from Sophia and team and also the chance to try some unique (and strong) rums. Pay Carumbar a visit , you won't regret it!

I had a lovely time. The food was very tasty and service was excellent. Our waitress was very friendly and attentive and even went out of her way to give us directions to an event we were attending.

I went to Carumbar for the first time yesterday and had the vegan combo - honestly one of the best meals I've ever had at a restaurant! Each dish was incredible (especially the ackee and sweet pepper, divine!) and the staff were so lovely. I'm amazed at how they get their corn cob so flavoursome too!

So rude!! The waitress who answers the phone is very impolite. They messed up the order and her response was - ‘well I don’t know what you want me to do’. Was totally short and difficult to speak to. Gave up. Trashed the food.

This weekend I just happened to be doing some errands in town centre and as I was walking by this restaurant I could not help but notice the lovely smell coming from it's kitchen. So out of the blue we decided to give it a go to this caribian food restaurant, it looked interesting as it was going to be out first time to try the food from that side of the world. I have to say that we have enjoyed the experience pretty much, everything has been top notch. The atmosphere in this restaurant is really relaxing, with the background music that is there if you want to listen to it but it does not interfere in your conversations, that's really nice. The service was fantastic and they have made a really pleasurable experience. Food was really tasty and me and my wife had generous plates. There are a few beers to choose from, but it is the rum menu what rally makes a difference, we'll try next time. Overall very nice eatery. I like it and recommend it, please give it a go yourself.
