JB'S West Bay in West Dorset

Stopped off here for a hot dog. I would have given a higher rating if they had used hot dog sausages however the normal sausages they did give us (two of in each hot dog by the way) were very good though the onions were slightly lacking. The staff were very good and all food is cooked to order so one will have to wait but even so the wait wasn't too long. For a seaside takeaway kiosk the prices are very reasonable as these sort of places tend to be a tad more expensive. We will be back next time we're in the area.

Whilst visiting West Bay yesterday friday, we decided to go visit JBs and get some breakfast. The two ladies who run the place were very welcoming, as usual. A great breakfast box. And fantastic tea. We went back later that afternoon for a glass of wine and an ice-cream. Great value. Best wishes to JBs, from John Griffin 🍀

Stopped here for lunch on a lovely sunny day so it was very pleasant sitting overlooking the harbour. Friendly service and helpful staff. Food was piping hot and good value. A nice relaxing lunch with a fantastic view.

Tonight me and my friend decided to have some dinner at this kiosk we both had the breaded plaice and chips and it was really nice enjoyed every mouthful and service was great I will definitely be back and recommend to all friends

Came down today with the family for a early lunch! So much selection to choose from we ended up having cod and chips,garlic mussels chips and white bait and a classic 99s ice creams! All the food was delicious cooked so perfectly the staff were all very friendly and attentive definetly planning another visit maybe for a yummy breakfast next time!

Stopped for lunch today, crab sandwiches were excellent, mussels in garlic sauce to die for and hot dogs with chips. All excellent, well presented and served quickly to our table. Prices very reasonable, staff / owner very friendly. Would highly recommend.

We only stopped for tea, but looking around at others eating I would say this is a good family stop, for lunch, tea or what ever. Nice view of the harbour, easy access. Will be back for lunch next time.

8 of us went for lunch on a busy hot Easter Saturday . Great choice of food and fantastic service with food delivered to the table with a smile, a great spot for all the family

Had a very nice bacon roll and a sausage & egg roll, freshly cooked, we found the staff very helpful with table service, upon leaving we told the lady that the rolls were just what we wanted as we were leaving for home in yate nr Bristol.

We came here because it was the first shack we stopped at on day 1 of our holidays. Lovely friendly people but I got the feeling there was a lack of energy and it seemed a bit tired. Menu was the usual but again seemed tired. I’d go again of course as the people are lovely. Just needs an injection of life.

We had been walking all morning and were hungry so we stopped at JB's as it was clean and inviting. I had the best bacon and egg roll and my friend had a toasted teacake and we both had a great big coffee. Everything was freshly prepared and the service and chat was lovely. The nicest surprise was the price - about £8 I think and as I remarked, we would not have got the coffees for that at home. Highly recommended!

Visited this harbour side cafe today , We had jumbo sausage , egg & chips The best chips I have tasted for years .Crispy on the outside fluffy in the middle and excellent value good portions . Staff very friendly and very efficient . Deffo be back !!!!

Nice people but I asked for plaice and chips. They told me it was breaded and switched me to cod. My wife had scampi and chips. Value was good at £5.50 each and they serve wine for less than £4 a glass. Food is served on real plates with good selection of condiments. Impressive for a food shack. Unfortunately my wife's food was served first and she has almost finished before mine was ready and when mine came the cod was under done and a bit gelatinous not firm and flaky as I believe it should be. Also the small real plates mean you get a much smaller portion than a chippy.

The service is always friendly, the food is always good and reasonably priced. Always our first choice.

It doesn't look much but this was a nice little find in West bay. The food was nice and very decently priced. It was also good that we could have fish and chips served on a plate for a change.

Definitely add the mushy peas - they are lovely! Fish and chips were great, I'd definitely say go here rather than a local restaurant. Much more traditional, good atmosphere and our baby daughter loved it as well. Highly recommended.

Roll burger estaba rancio, el 1 / 4 fue hecha y las patatas fritas estaban secos. Toda la comida era como comer cartón. Mi hijo de 3 años tenía un "perro caliente" que era un jumbo en un rollo de salchicha seca que él se negó a comer y el ketchup tenía un extraño sabor a metal.

Had Fish and Chips and a glass of wine here. We visit West Bay twice a year and weather permitting have lunch here. Really good food and good size portions. Reasonable price. Service was excellent. We will be back in September.

Como los lugareños bajábamos a West Bay hoy para correr el perro y disfrutar del sol antes de la fiebre de pascua esperaba que estuviera tranquilo, el sol encantador junto con la del período temprano de vacaciones escolares en todo el mundo habían traído al puerto! Elegido JB's para pescado y patatas fritas, absolutamente deliciosa y a un precio razonable. Buen servicio, la mesa estaba limpiado poco después nos sentamos, y el personal muy amable. Realmente estaba muy lleno, pero después de una breve espera, a quien no le gusta la comida recién hecha? Nuestra comida llegó. Pescado muy bien cocinado en pasta ligera además de una salchicha al perro! Nos dimos cuenta que había un montón de opciones (incluso puedes tomar una copa de vino) así que espero que podamos ver un viaje antes de la temporada. No puedo recomendar este lugar, gracias!

Después de un paseo en coche hasta por Dorset fuimos a WestBay y paramos en JBs para pescado y patatas fritas. Servicio genial y simpático, nada era demasiado problema. Teniendo en cuenta que estaban muy ocupados, nos encantó. El rollo de desayuno era muy abundante y de los niños y mantienen las patatas fritas ​fish viejos contentos. Un montón de los suspiros satisfechos después! Gracias.

Estado fuera todo el día solo tenía el desayuno y café así parado para cenar a sólo 500 metros de la caravana que bonito volvimos al día siguiente parecía incluso mejor.

Third visit and again great service and food with a short wait. Reasonably priced . Would recommend .

We enjoyed our stop off! The captains burger was huge, cod a good size and fresh and the chips well cooked and fresh. Kids enjoyed their sausages also. Good place for lunch!

Great place to sit and enjoy the beautiful little harbour . The food was acceptable although the cup of tea was awful. Dog friendly though and has a toilet handy.Extremely busy all the time due to the position.

Eat here every morning while on holiday after a walk with the dog enjoy a freshly cooked bacon roll and coffee always served with a smile and when we leave we are always told have a lovely day miss these when we are back home do you do a delivery service!!

Good value freshly cooked breakfast over looking the harbour. Friendly, helpful staff with quick service - especially considering how busy it was ! Definitely worth another visit.

Things have not changed here over the years nor have the fish & chips. Having decided not to eat in a local establishment we walked back to grab some fish & chips in the paper. They were just as good as we remembered from times gone by.JB's are the cheapest from all the other vendors in West Bay & you certainly get the largest portions...really yummy.

Stopped here today as just passing...so glad we did. Fantastic food...really tasty and freshly cooked to order. No long wait either. Friendly service and VERY reasonably priced. Will be visiting again.

Only had bacon rolls so can't comment too much about the food in general. It was cooked to order, so had to wait a while. Always busy at lunchtime, but we didn't get a chance to go back to try anything else.

We arrived just as the owner was beginning to close up, but she was happy to provide us with cream teas, which were lovely - scones fresh, and light as air. Served with a smile and very reasonably priced too!

Popped here for lunch whilst exploring West Bay. Was wonderful to sit in the sun by the harbour and people watch! Food was served quickly - the cream tea was delicious! Was just what we needed. Great place to stop by.

Cooked to order hot and what you expect from a take away at the seaside probably not cheapest enjoyed the food

Spent a week in West Bay with the Kids & the weather wasn't great. But the lovely friendly service we received from JB's certainly helped improve the week. The food was excellent & lots of variety.

We recently spent a week in West Bay and loved it. The food here is great . It is freshly cooked with very generous portions and very reasonably priced. Excellent cooked breakfast . I had cod & chips another day and can honestly say they were the best I have ever tasted. The staff are very welcoming . I would definitely recommend.

Stopped off at West Bay for a rest,whilst walking along Harbour came across food huts decided this look good had some fish and chips which was cooked on the spot and was good,it was good sat around the Harbour eating our meal. nice friendly staff

At the end of our visit we had fish and chips sitting by the River. Freshly cooked, we had to wait whilst it was cooked, and very enjoyable whilst reasonably priced. Would recommend and go back.

I often visit jb's on a Sunday morning and always served with a friendly smile and lovely staff I love the bacon rolls and the cups of tea are lovely too a lovely place to sit and watch the world go by highly recommend this as a place to visit

I had a tuna sweet corn and cheesejacket potato and my husband had a chilli and cheese jacket. They were delicious, filling and hot; just what was needed on a cold June summer day!If you like jacket potatoes I recommend you try these. Very good value for money.

On our recent visit to West Bay on a busy Sunday afternoon we were met with a number of small wooden huts selling a wide variety of hot and cold food choices, we were drawn to JB's due to the variety and reasonably priced menu. We decided on the fish and chips and were not disappointed! Freshly cooked and tasted delicious, staff were friendly and accommodating. Would definitely recommend and hope to return again before the end of our holiday.

My wife and I decided on a sunny May day to visit West Bay. We walked round the Harbour perimeter looking for a suitable mid day meal. The JB's Chalet was bright and attractive so we ordered from the excellent staff. My wife chose Scampi, Breaded Plaice for me both with chips. What a delight to be served piping hot food with chips of the highest order both Scampi and Plaice were food to die for. We really enjoyed our traditional fish and chips from this friendly hut on the esplanade. Freshly cooked, plenty of chips and sauces on offer. A good quick meal!

After a lovely stroll in beautiful sunshine last Thursday we ate here.My husband had Moule and Frite and I had Haddock and Chips, with a glass of wine, superb food.The only down side was the breeze which meant the food went cold just a little too quickly, but that it part of sitting beside a beautiful harbour of boats in the sun while you eat.

Ice cream was good, but no impressed with the chips or the burgers. Portion sizes weren't very big for the price.

There are a lot of stalls to choose around the Marina but after much searching JBs was the only one still offering fresh crab sandwiches. I was not expecting a gourmet experience and this was the fourth venue I had ordered a crab sandwich during the week. What a surprise! Seemed they'd crammed a whole fresh crab between 2 hunks of fresh brown bread with a quarter of a lemon, tomatoes and salad leaves on the side all for £6. This was the best value crab sandwich I had found in all of East Devon and was actually half the price of the inferior one I had at Abbotsbury Tropical Garden Restaurant. Well done JB!

We had our good friends down from London and wanted to show them the Dorset Coast. We ended at West Bay where we had superb fish'n'chips and a cuppa at JB's. The Londoners were impressed with the service, friendliness, quality of food, and general ambience and views they found there. Thank you.

The fish & chips were hot and good and the staff were friendly and helpful. They had run out of pies, which was disappointing, so one of us ended up with a burger which was very average.

We have been visiting JB'S for years now, and the food and service is always great. We also know we are valued customers when the staff remember us from are last trip to West Bay which was months ago and when they see hundreds of passing faces I think that speaks volumes!

i called here for a ice cream every day, sometimes three times depending on the weather, cheap at £1.60 for a basic cone with a decent amount of ice cream

Nice to see jacket potatoes as an option because even the most delicious chips become a little tedious after a while! The jackets were a really good size and very tasty with a good selection of toppings. Friendly and accommodating staff.Highly recommend!

Fish and chips were the best we could remember eating. There is seating outside, but we took ours around the corner to the seafront. Staff were very friendly.

Simply the rudest, most "unhappy" staff I have ever had the misfortune to encounter! I wouldn't recommend this place to anyone. We drove to Bridport and had a much more pleasant experience.

My wife and I stopped at JB for a snack. I had a bacon and egg bap and my wife had a portion of chips and we were both very impressed by the quality and quantity of the food. The next time we are at West Bay we will definitely go there for food.

Ate here on Saturday morning. Friendly, fast service and basic but good food (breakfasts, burgers, fish n chips, cream teas, icecreams etc) at prices that were not extortionate considering the location. Good selection of foods too considering the size of the facilities.

I am a local and my son works in West Bay (not at JBs). I visit the bay twice every day (Dad's Taxi Service). The people at JBs are very friendly, there are seats and tables where you can enjoy the food and the view. The food is mostly good standard 'burger and chips' type stuff, with a few more unusual items for those with more discerning tastes. I eat there fairly often and am happy to recommend them.

We had fish and chips to take away as it was raining and all seating is outside.The quality was very good,all cooked fresh and packed in boxes.There was lemon and tartar sauce.There is a varied menu but when at the seaside it has to be fish .

My first time back to West Bay in 30 years, blimey it's changed, but for the better and JB's was a real find. Set right on the harbour it has a lovely character to it, friendly staff and excellent food at bargain prices. The whitebait and chips and fish cake and chips superb, kids loved their meals (proper nuggets) and a mug of proper tea. Lovely

Really enjoyed family lunch at JB's. The fish & chips were really good, not greasy, and large portions. Staff were attentive and friendly. We will definitely return when in the area. Really impressed.

We only went here because Rachel's was really busy. The fish and chips were a disappointment. We were dive bombed by seagulls, ignored by staff and not impressed at all. Possibly caught them on a bad day, but still, not the greatest customer experience. - such a shame.

Very busy little place cream teas sold out but had the best Apple pie with ice cream & cream. Lots of lovely food on menu judging by the neighbouring tables. Must come back sometime to this quaint fishing village.

A small 'shed' with tables laid out in front. The menu is basic, fish and chips, sausages etc. Food is freshly cooked and the quality is ok. My cod and chips was ok, the fish better than the chips. Staff were friendly and helpful.
