Food was good as normal. Just so fed up with always having something missing from my order. Maybe if more care was taken when making up orders! I do appreciate that it may.

Was handed the wrong order had to call delivery driver back know the estate roads are bad but 45mins late and cold food. Need to implement a sytem to keep customers updated on delays etc. Fish suppers are expensive without them being cold on delivery

The delivery timing was unexpectedly quick! But for a future note, the Mac’n’cheese was overcooked and a bit bitter. My partner had no complaints on his burger, though the fries/chips were notably terrible. We ate what we could, but for the price, the quality could be better.

Overcharged me full price for a regular drink on a kids drink. Also charged £1.35 for ketchup, wasn't told it was extra, egregious, can get a bottle for that price. Ended up over £7 just for chips with ketchup and a kids juice, absurd.

My chips cheese and curry sauce looked a sloppy shite and the fish supper was cold and it had pink stuff it in and it gave me food poisoning wouldn't go there go to sea salt and sole there chippers are way better

Service was rubbish, the young boy had no idea what he was doing. He got a telling off while we were in the shop. Chips and curry sauce were stone cold and fish still had all the skin on. Prices also need updated as online as charged much more than online shows for sides. Extremely disappointed

We didn't think we'd be able to find any takeaways to deliver to us as we are a little bit out of the main town, but Jax's were available. They delivered on time, the portion sizes were great and the food was very tasty. We don't order for delivery often, but will definitely be ordering from here again ☺️.

Order was 5 minutes late, but they called me before they got to the end of their delivery window to let me know what was happening and they were only 5 mins late in the end

Two Jumbo Haddock suppers delivered tonight. Absolutely delicious. Three good sized pieces of fish in each freshly cooked. Chips were delicious everything piping hot when delivered. Thanks Jax

Great staff and great fish and chips. They were also very careful with their gluten-free options, essential when someone has a health condition that requires it.

Delivery was an hour late. Food eventually arrived chips were freezing cold, bit into a battered mushroom and got a bit of cartlidge/hard grissle that was obviously not from a mushroom. Very disappointing

waited over 2 hours for food to arrive. phoned shop twice first time was told it had left shop 20 mins ago 2nd time told still in shop. chicken very dry batter very hard and everything was cold

The food I received was not correct. I only got a handful of chips and some of them didn’t taste cooked. It wasn’t great, I won’t be going back to them.

Portions are very stingy. Chicken fillets were tasteless and tiny. Mac pie was a dry shrivelled lump. Won't be back. You can't charge these prices and produce this kind of lack of quality.

Seen a few bad reviews for Jax but we go there quite often. Food today arrived hot, early and was delicious. Couldn’t fault our fish suppers.

Great delivery but the food was really poor - very greasy and salty.

Overall it was okay because I was craving it but ended up being disappointed with the oily fish and one of the haddock’s tasted off- chips were really nice, food was still hot when it came and delivery driver was really nice. Will maybe try again.

Food great just too much for me

If I could have given this place no stars I would have ordered fish in bread crumbs needed micro scope to find fish it was hard and just a slither of fish. A disgrace. Ordered chicken fillets it was nuggets from some cheap disgusting discount store not what was advertised. The fish cake was dry and powdery the chips were greesy and reheated a few times . I hear you say why didn't you call the restaurant I was so discussed I refused to spend any more money on the shop as a visitor to ellon I will not recommend, or return discussing expensive mush

Overall, disappointed. Fish inedible, overcooked and very very dry. Would have called restaurant if had time to. Sausage supper was ok, not the best my husband has had by far. He also thinks overcooked. Chips ok, not tasty compared to previous. Wont be hurrying back

This chip shop is the best in Ellon. Amazing quality and value for money. Cooked to perfection. Friendly, helpful and more so happy staff.

Well what a nice surprise the chicken burger was...with a tasty fluffy bun, and fresh battered chicken strips Absolutely lovely.. Didn't expect it to look and taste that good I'd reccomend to anyone. And the battered mushrooms were tasty the garlic dip was yummy specially with the mushrooms..I thoroughly enjoyed my food 😊

Busy Saturday night (and first night of the summer holidays) so the shop was heaving when we went to pick up. Boss man gave my kid a wee bag of chips to keep him happy, stellar move and very much appreciated. Food was great, chips are the best around.

All of the food except the fish was fantastic but the panko fish was extremely dry. Macaroni and everything else was fantastic though! Prepared on time and piping hot.

Foods alright, shame they forgot the water with the kids meal.

Unfortunately, haddock was extremely dry and unpalletable. Chips didn't taste fresh and weren't hot. Chipsteak and jumbo sausage were tasty.

I ordered loaded fries with crispy Onions end cheese but got cheese and chips.., didn’t even get one onion flake on my chips!!! The cheese was nice though 🤣

Xanres from now on. The presumed owner (the old gent who's in all the photos on their site) gave another customer a lot of grief because she apparently asked for a female server. On top of that he was licking his fingers before touching food containers and went in a huge huff when asked to stop. Food was edible.

Out of the 2 chippers in Ellon definitely the better one. Delivery price is a little too high so I just decided to collect but still better than the competition.

Not often you would be disappointed that your food arrives early however we order for a specific time as my wife was due home then. Unfortunately by the time my wife did get home the food was cold and had to be binned. Please in future pay particular attention to the requested delivery time.

Chicken Fillets supper and Haggis Pudding supper were left out to go cold whilst mushy peas were prepared, despite ordering all items well in advance. Chicken Fillets and Haggis Pudding OK, chips not good, mushy peas, awful.

Order was incorrect when it first arrived, after a quick phone call to the restaurant it was corrected, item that was missed was delivered 15 minutes later. Food quantity has improved significantly over the last 6 months, hope it will stay at its current level.

Nan bread was cold, no yoghurt for the in mix kebab it wasn’t worth the money the curry sauce went all over the place covered Everything in the bag. Just wasn’t happy at all definitely not worth £21 for a mix tandoori and 2 popadoms and mix pickle and mango chutney… very over priced for the quality off food you get

Fish was dry and panko crumbs were hard (cooked too long) - inedible, I had to bin it. Chips weren’t nice either. White pudding was nice though.

Brilliant food as always from Jax. Very tasty and piping hot. Great value for money. Food arrived earlier than expected (big bonus) and eaten before the JustEat app could catch up. The new management of Jax is on par if not better than before.

What a great place, we were recommended Jax by a friend. We were visiting the area for a few days so decided after traveling up, to grab a chippy. Fantastic friendly staff, gave the kids a wee bag of chips to share while waiting. The food was great, we had a 10 minute drive back to our accommodation and the batter was still crisp and lovely. Great place, will 100% be back.

First time I've been since new owner's and the food was awesome.

Plenty of choices on the menu to suit everyone. Good portion sizes. Food was still hot when we got home.

2 start for fish chips not done and onion rings too🤷‍♂️

I just want to preface this review by saying I love this chipper and the reason I'm writing a negative review is so they know where to improve. A lot of Jax's food is fantastic but the items we ordered today were really disappointing. The onion-rings were limp and undercooked. They were pale, mushy and had an unpleasant fishy taste permeating through them. The beef chilli was acceptable but for the price charged was underwhelming with an offensively small serving size. The Killer Hot Sauce Hog did not come on a brioche roll as advertised but instead an over-toasted hotdog bun. Instead of ketchup it came with an admittedly nice BBQ style sauce however there was barely any sauce, a pitiful amount of cheese and, for some reason, lettuce. Jax regularly serves up absolutely delicious chip-shop food but if today's order is indicative of the expanded menu's quality then it clearly needs a considerable amount of work. I hope that this feedback is taken in the spirit it's intended and that we see our favourite chip-shop get even better.

Missed 2 items from order, they then sent someone else’s order to us and then came back a third time with food which I refused. Poor quality and disappointment with wrong order/s. Won’t hurry back!

Sorry not up to scratch at all / chips slightly undercooked in places and the mushy peas were not mushy peas they were crushed garden peas which seemed to be mixed with water- awful!

Food was quite cold and fish a lot smaller than normally served and not any cheaper. Not usual standard

This used to be my favourite local chipper, it’s went severely downhill. Burger was dry, fish only partly battered and overcooked. Unfortunately the curry sauce didn’t help as it was tasteless. No care/pride in the food being served, highly doubt I’ll be back.

Ordered and ready for collection in time, great flavour

Fish wasn’t very nice. No big flakes. Texture felt very smushed rather than firm flakes. Portion size was good but wouldn’t hurry back

Loved the fish, the chips not so much

Ordered for delivery. Order initially arrived on time but unfortunately upon opening bag it was not my order I had received. I got apology for the mix up when driver returned to change over but was told I'd need reheat it! I called again and eventually got through and agreed to remake my order and have it redelivered in another 30mins

Fish was a little dry, as were the chips. The smoked haddock fish cakes were gorgeous! Would use again at a push.

When it eventually arrived the food was cold. The delivery driver even advised we used a microwave to heat it. Food it's self was good. All down to the delivery time and cold food!!!!!!

There was loads of food - chips were good but the jumbo battered fish had no taste - even when you took the batter off the fish, it just tasted of nothing. Curry sauce was nice.

The portion size was very good and coleslaw was lovely, unfortunately all other food was very over cooked, the chips were inedible, chicken fillets were over cooked and macaroni pie was to crispy.

Order minced pie got macaroni pie. Chips were not very hot as had to wait for fish cakes. Mac and cheese were good, fish cake was moderate.

Order was a bit late tonight, and the food was pretty overdone. This is the first time in maybe 3 years I've had a not great experience at Jax, and I'm guessing they were just extra busy tonight. Will still be back, they've been the best for the last 7 years I've lived here and a hiccup now and again is totally OK. Thanks for always having smiley, friendly staff!

Put in a phone order after work on Friday. Fairly quick service when I arrived. However, didn't get the onion rings that I'd ordered as a side for my delicious king rib supper. Otherwise, would have been a five. Will check the bag next time for sure.

Food arrived cold and soggy! Chips were hard (not fresh at all) had been refried more than once !

Batter is bland, tasteless and not a patch on crispness as per the original. We have since changed to different fryer in Ellon. .

Arrived cold and late, had to microwave. Spoilt it. £5 delivery for under a mile you'd think to get it hot.?

I've been going to Jack for a very long time, since it's bin taken over omg what a difference better produce great value for money and everything tastes amazing, no kid doing what they want I definitely will be back 👍

Was disappointed by the length of time we had to wait outside in the snow for our order which we had ordered from their website we waited more than 30 minutes, I understand that they were under a lot of pressure with there being a massive power cut everywhere but don't think they should have taken the order if they couldn't have supplied it at that time they should have said at time of ordering a different time, other than that it was good as usual

Seems to be under new management, it wasn't bad before but the service tonight was excellent! Easy to order online, food was packaged up when we arrived (not sitting for ages on the counter going cold/dry) and I was greeted by a friendly face and manners! Not only all that...... The food was delicious; super fresh fish, a good batter and moreish chips. We will definitely be back, thank you!! Best of luck to the new owner!
