Jades in East Hertfordshire

This place use to be really good but last 3 orders was absolute disgusting.I’ve talked to them on phone and tonight they did the same.Every veggies are burnt!!!Stop doing this job plase because it does not taste good anymore.

Used to be a regular here, won't be returning. Chowmein was burnt, sauces were watered down, and elements of the food were not cooked. No one ate much of their meal, it was that bad. I called the place to rectify this before leaving a review, but they were so disinterested, so here we are.

We ordered from Jades last week and 3 of us got food poisoning after speaking to a friend they said they couldn’t believe that we order from there as it happened to them. BEWARE YOU WILL GET SICK

I don’t know how they do it but it is fantastic every time. Also the two girls at the reception do a phenomenal job of handling all the orders. Thank you for making our Saturday night perfect 😊

Take away only. Typical Chinese menu.

The chicken and prawn dishes with cashew nuts were mainly filled with cheap frozen squared carrot & swede.Sweet & sour pork was tasteless and hardly any sauce. The duck was rubbery,old & burnt. I have called several times asking to speak to the Manager but told he won't be in for 3 days

Absolutely the best Chinese in Stortford!

A little skeptical prior to ordering but my normal restaurant stopped selling set meals, so thought it was time for a change. So pleased I did. Got set meal B, everything was lovely. They’ve just become my new regular.

First time we ordered from there, the all meals were watering, prawns were discustung, on next day morning me and my husband had a stomach oroblems, never go again and i can t inderstand how have 4 stars really

Do not get your Chinese from here. Ain't got a clue what has happened but it seems like they have a new chef. Filth!!!!! A few months back I said I rated it I think 5* but definitely not that now. Will never order from these again. The chips were half a small bag of black frozen chips,the salt n pepper ribs were so dry they were hard to swallow and the peppers,chilli n onion that thry came in were raw not even cooked. Salt n pepper chicken wi gs well what more can I say disgusting....

Fantastic Chinese The best in bishops stortford

Delivered within 15 minutes of ordering at 7pm on a Saturday evening. Steaming hot. Also as always, delicious.... we don't go anywhere else. Love it here.

we have had several takeaways from here and never been disappointed.. food is always piping hot and tasty. and you get discount if you collect it.

Thought I must write a review. We have been having a weekly takeaway from Jades for the last three weeks and must say the food has been really really good! Tasty, hot and a very fair price. We have used pick up and delivery and it’s always hot. Service has been first class. Thank you. we will be back for more.

The food was tasty, the only problem was that the Thai green curry was too watery and the some of the noodles from Jades house special noodles were uncooked.

Food nice. But 20/25 minutes wait for food turned onto 50 minutes. Be honest. It's annoying.

Although we have Chinese takeaways nearer to us, we always drive a bit further to get Jades because of the high quality of food. Unfortunately, a few weeks ago we were left very disappointed and now I cannot imagine ever going back. We ordered a takeaway to collect, when we went to pick it up we were left waiting over 20 minutes longer than expected - eventually one of the delivery staff came back into the restaurant and pulled our takeaway out of his bag and told us to have a good evening without so much as an apology. It was only when we complained that they offered to re-cook our food however by this time we did not want to wait an extra 20 minutes so we left it - will now be saving myself the journey and going to a nearer alternative!

This is without a doubt the best Chinese take away in town The food is always good and hot,plus the young lady knows her job you can sit down and eat in the restaurant but we always have the takeaway

Got told to wait 45 minutes for dinner to be delivered. Took 1 hour and 35 minutes. When delivery driver arrived was very nice and friendly however the main restaurant seemed to put a lot of pressure on him due to lateness. Furthering this the lady on the phone was unable to speak to their manager. The best they offered 10% off next delivery?! Will not be ordering again.

Really one to avoid, changed owners, really not good

So this is the first review I have written on trip advisor, however I felt (after many times of saying I would) that the restaurant deserved the feedback. Following the change of ownership I had a few take away that left me disappointed to the point I vowed never to return. On Friday night my wife and I really fancied a Chinese and like many people looked on trip advisor for some recommendations. First we tried the Rivermill, however they only take card payments from regular customers which I found very strange. With my fingers crossed I decided to give Jades another go and I am so glad I did. Working in the hospitality industry I would say that I know good quality food when I taste it and this surpassed my expectation. The food (especially the shredded chilli beef) was amazing. Thank you Jade’s for restoring my faith and I will definitely be returning.

We decided to try a take away from here having been to the restaurant a couple of times.. wow the food was as good for takeaway as it is in the restaurant... we rang and ordered it and it was ready for collection in 15 minutes, and if you collect it yourself you get a discount, staff friendly as always.

second time we have been here in the last few weeks... food as good second time as the first time, its all cooked fresh for you when you order it so you might have to wait a bit longer in either the restaurant or for your take away,,, which was really busy, staff very friendly as always.

Me and 9 of my family visited here tonight for my nephews 16th, and whilst there was a small issue with the numbers on the menu, we all thoroughly enjoyed our meal, the service and food was top quality, and we will defiantly be returning 😊 thank you

Was a take away only now back as both a restaurant and a take away. The food is poorly cooked greasy and tasteless the noodles I had tasted of nothing. I spent £30 on a takeaway and through 3/4 of it away. A real shame as Jades used to be a really good Chinese but is now a shadow of its former self. Also the takeaway side of things seemed to be somewhat chaotic with many people hanging around waiting for a long time having ordered some time ago...maybe it was a particularly bad night for them but Im not willing to find out by going back.

It’s the closest to us which is why we use it. I find it’s pot luck as to what type of meal you get to be honest. I’ve had some nice well cooked food from there and other times it’s been really greasy and sometimes burnt. Shame really because if they get it consistent it could be a little gem. Same goes for the service too. There’s a lady on the counter who can be quite cocky or very nice. Depends what day you catch her.

we thought we would try Jade's at Thorley since it has been renovated... what a difference... more room at the front where you can order your take away, we actually ate in the restaurant very clean and fresh.. staff very friendly, food is amazing nice and freshly cooked and hot! we have had takeaway from there too and the same again food fresh and piping hot. support your local Chinese you wont be disappointed and very reasonably priced.

I used to be a regular a few years ago but after a few bad takeaways, I gave up and went elsewhere. Last week, me and my partner thought we would give it a chance and it was delicious! Couldn't fault it! Which is great as it's only round the corner so really convenient! Also seemed to be a few new additions to the menu.

So disappointed at the quality of food, absolute rubbish, used to be the best in Stortford, now they use frozen supermarket prawns , not nice big king prawns we are all used to, measly portions, sweet and sour pork with no sauce?? fatty duck, long grain uncle bens rice, oh dear oh dear, worst takeaway i have ever had, run buy english people now, avoid.

Bloody rubbish. I hate to be negative but this is poor at best. Don't confuse this operation with the restaurant that used to be in this unit. That's now the Oriental Straw Hat in Sawbridgeworth.

Used to love Jade's, always enjoyed the food and was of an excellent quality. Ordered a takeaway hoping for the same quality yet received two boxes of lukewarm chicken chow mein which were both of poor quality and lacked taste, also prawn toast which consisted of prawn paste and could be separated to see garlic bread underneath!!!!! No chinese puts prawn toast on garlic bread, absolutely disgusting!!!!!! Really hope they get new management asap as they are going to lose a lot of customers with their lax attitude to their food.

I was shocked when I ordered from here and found everything had changed as it used to be excellent. Firstly the crispy duck was so dry it was inedible, the plum sauce tasted watered down and the salt chilli squid was tasteless. Give it a wide berth!

Great takeaway, prompt, food was piping hot and competitively priced. Portion sizes were generous and food wasn't bulked out with vegetables. Sweet and sour chicken balls are highly recommended!

Bog average food. Spent over £50 and no prawn crackers. Just a really average to poor Chinese. WHAT A SUPRISE

Jades siempre tenía una buena reputación para la comida y el servicio de comida decente. Este es nuestro primer llevar orden desde que cambió de manos y será la última. La comida estaba bien. . Solo quiero suponiendo. parte de su orden original. Después de haber recogido un pedido para una familia de cuatro, mi marido descubre que parte de la orden se pierde.

Solía ser un favorito. Desde Jades cambió de manos, el servicio y la calidad de la comida ha tomado una inmersión. Ingredientes han cambiado y parece blanda. Hay una señora que constantemente y los pedidos sobre el teléfono a gritos whinges sonando después de cada llamada (no es que todo el asunto? Mientras nos espera para). No es un buen gracias por nuestra ahora te dedicaban ni a medida. Será encontrar una alternativa.

Entiendo Jades está ahora bajo nueva dirección de alrededor de principios de septiembre. Sólo una para llevar, muy sabroso. Es nuestra primera bajo el nuevo régimen y el estándar parece ser tan buena como antes, así que quizás darle una oportunidad de apoyar un negocio local del arranque. Yo y volveré de nuevo.

Restaurante agradable llevar pero nunca abierto debido a la escasez de personal durante los últimos 6 meses... Qué desperdicio

A menudo ordenar comida por jades y estamos satisfechos clientes. La comida es de buena calidad y el servicio es bueno.

Somos unos clientes habituales en esta comida para llevar pero esta noche tienen fallaron completamente. Pedí una comida para llevar en 6,55 pidiéndole que estará listo para 7,45 . Me dio mucha antelación ya que es un sábado por la noche y nos ayudaron a recoger. Me doble comprobado que ello era suficiente tiempo.El llevar fue finalmente nos dieron para llevar a casa en 8,25 . Pagamos cuando llegamos a 7,40 así que no pudimos ni siquiera salir no había disculpa y cuando nos quejamos fueron y se escondió en la cocina, así que puede pedir un reembolso.

I have been coming here for years, their food is excellent, the portion sizes are adequate rather than overly generous, that being said there is always enough left overs for lunch the next day. Recently the restaurant has closed due to staff shortage and they now close Mondays as I found out when trying to place an order this week. Can I second the crispy chilli beef comment below, I have never had better

In last few weeks we have had a couple of takeaways. We had started using a couple of other takeaways that where closer but not now,this is far better and worth the extra drive.

We've had a few takeouts recently from here. All are very tasty but the sweet and sour chicken lacks sauce. Apart from that, the food has always been very good. The takeout is now run by the owners due to lack of staff, this being given as the reason for the closure of the restaurant. However, it is busy most evenings. Their computer system makes ordering by numbers very quick and simple. Equally, once they have your phone number in the system, they know who you are so saves giving the address for delivery every time. Definitely one of the better takeouts locally and for collection, parking is plentiful when Sainsburys is closed as the entrance is next to the entrance to Sainsburys.

This is the best Chinese take away in Stortford. Highly recommend the satay chicken. Delicious! It's a real shame the owner isn't very friendly on the phone, it would all the difference.

Have been getting take always from here over the past year...it use to be good but not anymore. We phone them after two bad experiences....only to be told we were wrong and the food was exactly as it should be! Not great customer service. Will find a new Chinese.

I have had two Chinese meals this week from different takeaways in Harlow! Both restaurant's made Jades seem very amateur in terms of portion size, packaging and in terms of customer service! I got exactly what I asked for both times which is a variety sometimes with Jades.

Over the years it is steadily getting worse. Wrong food missing food poor food. The staff are nice and welcoming though.

This restaurant doesn't understand what a Chow Mein is! And when somebody asks for a extra ingredient added to the dish you'll be lucky to even get it!

This restaurant produces the best cooked Chinese Food in Bishops Stortford, the service is very good,my only criticism is the restaurant needs refurbishing, the decor is bland, and there is window through to the takeaway section that could make you think you are in a gold fish bowl.If they soften the decor and completely separate the restaurant from the takeaway, it will will improve the ambience.

I have used this restaurant for takeaways for a very long time and having always been very happy with the food and so decided to book a table to eat in tonight. When we arrived we were given one of only seven tables in a small room light so brightly it was like a school canteen. At one of these tables just a few feet away sat two members of staff one of whom was the takeout delivery guy who was constantly in and out. The kitchen was behind me and there were staff running past us with food to the takeout collection point throughout the evening. Service for us was very slow and not always entirely friendly. When it came to our main course we were given our rice, vegetables and noodles but after some minutes had passed we had to ask a passing waitress if we could have the rest of our food and the drinks we had ordered some time previously. She queried this with another waitress and it all appeared some minutes later. We felt that we were a bit of a nuisance to the staff as they were so busy with the very active takeout section, which was in full view through the open window. Also, we felt on show to the queue of customers looking at us whilst waiting to collect their food. The food is fantastic though and I will definitely order a takeout from here again but am unsure as to whether I would eat in here again.

This is a little gem of a place,that not many people know about,since moving recently to this area we have had a few take-aways from here and ate in the restaurant a few weeks ago.The food is always freshly cooked and tastes lovely,They have an extensive menu and it is very reasonably priced,My kids also love the food here,Would definatly reccomend.

Grew up on the Chinese from this place being our special occasion dinner. Best crispy chilli beef I've ever had. Love it!
