Great food at really reasonable prices! The staff were really friendly. It’s a lovely addition to Mitcham

Comfortable little café in a new building, part of the refurbishment of the Canons estate. This refurbishment was paid for out of the heritage lottery fund, where nearly 4 1/2 million pounds was raised. So, the next time you buy a lottery ticket, you’ll know that you are contributing to projects like this. When you visit the café, have a look into the walled garden nearby, or the dovecot and pond. All have been recipients of the refurbishment fund. The café itself is a ‘pop-up’, in that it is an experiment, and may well not be in business for very long. Given that, why not pop in yourself? There is free parking in the nearby car park. I’ve had a very nice smoothie in there, and on another occasion a coffee. For food, for example, I had a cheese Panini. All reasonably priced.

Good food, good service! The manager was really sweet and kind, I ate at my own pace without feeling like I needed to rush. The broth was light and flavourful. And the service with a smile is so refreshing, felt like I was eating at a family member’s home. I look forward to visiting again soon!

Really large portions and very affordable but the chips were dry. The actual fish tasted great and fresh but the batter felt a bit hard both on the fish and sausages.

I came here for lunch not knowing what to expect. The old lady who served me doesn’t really speak English (only Portuguese) but she was very friendly. I ordered the grilled prawns starter and asked whether I could add on rice to go with it (with the help of google translate) as the other mains seem too filling for me. The portion turned out to be massive (over 10 med-big size prawns) and made a proper lunch. I was a little worried I would be over charged but it only cost £15. For the number of prawns given, I think it’s very value for money. The food was cooked fresh and was very delicious. Although I wouldn’t recommend the latte. Don’t judge this cafe by its looks. I’ll definitely people to try out this cafe.
