Italian Pizza Oven in Rotherham

Nice food, really nice food actually but owner/chef was so rude and made us feel like an inconvenience. Feel sorry for the staff. He said 'well you never booked...' excuse me but yes we did! Plus an hour wait for 4 pizzas and 2 pastas, when they were half full, shouldnt be a problem for anywhere!

Recently visited this restraunt its a little dated but the food is amazing before 7 you get buy one get free the staff are lovely and cant do enough i had sp carbanara and my sister had pasta in a cream sauce mushrooms peppers and peas its ashame this restraunt is in rotherham because it would do so much better in a city and try the brushetta and the prices are so cheap will be returning

Attended restaurant from work for a family outing, the food here is outstanding. Ingredients are as fresh as you will get, week before we ate @ Gino de campos Leeds restaurant and Trust me this place put there food to shame on so many levels. I will say the place needs an investment of some sorts, but with the upcoming rotherham regeneration I hope the family can keep going and keep providing some of the best Italian food I have ever tasted, anywhere. God bless and stick with it please, it will pay off. Food this good doesn't go unrewarded. Xxx

We come here, in varying family combinations, almost weekly and have been going for decades! The food is outstanding. We always have a bruschetta to start with - I could just have a whole one to myself tbh! This, and the pizzas, are baked in a pizza oven which many of the tables look on to. We generally choose pizza and pasta dishes and are spoilt for choice. My parents like the melanzana or crespelle & I love the meatballs or salmon pasta. If you are seated before 7pm, the main courses are 2 for 1 which makes it ideal for families & they have a great children’s menu as well. The house red is a good quality Hardys Shiraz so you will love it. If you want modern surroundings, nouvelle cuisine etc., then this place won’t be for you, but if you want genuine home made food which is both appetising and filling, in relaxed, traditional surroundings run by a local family, then you really should visit.

I’m afraid to say that like the rest of Rotherham the restaurant is looking very tired. The food is as good as it has always been. A couple of low points were they had no beer on tap only bottles and had run out of veg!!! It was only 5.45. Tesco’s is only 5 minutes away...

Beyond rude no other words ,we sat down & left . We obviously caused a problem as we had not booked a table!

The setting is beyond tired and there are cobwebs all over... and please don’t get me started on the toilets. This place is dirty. The lady serving is really lovely, she’s attentive, and incredibly helpful, if this review was just about her it would be 5 stars all the way. The chef is grumpy and ignorant, don’t expect him to reply when you speak to him. Food... if you go for pizza, you won’t go far wrong, but the pastas we chose were poor, we had lasagne and cannelloni and I wasn’t impressed by either. The sauces were too overpowering, it tasted like something out of a jar. The Parmesan tasted like the bought grated type, that carries a very strong smell rather than fresh Parmesan. Overall disappointing, I’m sorry to say we won’t be returning anytime soon.

Having visited this place last month I had to leave a review about the customer service. Absolutely amazing. Very professional from star to finish.

Hadn’t been to the Pizza Oven for many years but decided to take our visiting grandchildren there for an early evening pizza. As others have indicated, the restaurant needs a face-lift - the décor hadn’t changed since the last time we ate here. There were few tables occupied but even so, after ordering, the food took a while to arrive. It was, however, freshly prepared and cooked and the pizzas met with the our grandchildren’s approval. The waiter was efficient and very friendly. As this was the early evening two for one pizza/pasta menu, it was good value.

Came in for pizza and we all enjoyed the food, but the place is really in need of a facelift, or even a good going over with feather duster. Friendly staff apart from the chef but think that’s just how he is. Can’t beat the 2 for 1 till 7 o’clock deal our local takeaway pizza place would cost more.

We haven’t been for a long time since the boys left home, having visited every week in the past. Things haven’t changed a bit and the pizza is as delicious as it always was. Can’t wait to go again.

As we were meeting friends later for a surprise birthday ,,.we decided to come early and have dinner! We don’t visit Rotherham very much any more I’m afraid....we used to come with my parents and our children,..probably 28 years since our first visit! always had a great meal and lovely service with Tony and Carol.....my parents particularly loved coming here.....and now years later...we have visited with our grandchIldren a few Times! Menu seems unchanged ,.,but we always enjoyed it...so why change it! I did have a different meal from my usual and enjoyed it...we shared calamares and then husband had carbonara and said it was lovely too? Young man who took our order was very nice...the young girl was very reticent at first...then she said she was new.....and she was fine....we all have to learn! All in all...we still enjoyed our meals and at a reasonable price.

Came here with a group of friends and had the 241 pizza and pasta deal - which was excellent! Lovely service and great value Will be back :)

we were met by a very rude miserable man who also cooked the pizzas. He was sarcastic when we ordered our food which we waited almost an hour for sat on the most uncomfortable chairs. Nice food but would not be in a rush to go back

Because we hadn't booked the chef was very dismisive of my friends and I. We had to wait ages for our food and other customers were served before us even though we were their first. As I couldn't pronounce the italian name correctly of the dish I ordered the chef rolled his eyes at me! The food when it finally arrived was tasty but the whole experience had been spoiled by the unfriendly service.

We visited restaurant at probably one of the worst times to go. It was snowing heavily ( The Beast from the East had arrived with a vengeance!) The staff hadn't managed to get in, and the cooking, the waiting on tables and the bar was all down to the owner and his wife!

Me and my boyfriend went on a Sunday evening during the 2 for 1 hours and it was quiet with a quick service we shared a garlic bread I had a pasta he had pizza and then shared a desert it was all lovely and including a few drinks was less than £26! Very cheap with a nice atmosphere and parking is only a 30 second walk away. I would recommend to anyone. The only down side is the seats are slightly uncomfortable but will defiantly go again.

The food was nice and plentiful,but every time we go we never feel welcome,the man who was doing the pizzas was sooo miserable, plus it was very cold in there too, not in a rush to go back

Just got back from this restaurant, have to say we not a family to complain about food but this time my husband did , he had the meatball meal and left just about all of it, my daughter had the carbonara and it was completely tasteless the garlic bread and bruschetta was really salty, we were really looking forward to this meal but was a big disappointment, the chips were the worst I’ve ever tasted,.and to say it was 2 4 1 it cost us 70 quid with wine of course .

Yes they get busy (especially at the 2 for the price of 1 time-slots), and you get lots of time and space between ordering. I personally hate visiting my local Bangladeshi restaurant where my plate has actually been removed from under my cutlery, so I enjoy the time I am left to enjoy my food and company when I visit Italian Pizza Oven.

We visited as afamily party of 11 last night after the panto. This place should have been in it! We were sat down at 5.30pm oredered by 5.45 and waited until 6.30pm for our food. It only consisted of pizzas, calzone, spag bol and pastas! Absolutely no apology for the wait and food extremely average and lack of taste.

Pre booked for 5.30pm got table fine, got given Menu then was left. We were all so thirsty yet no...

Walked in tonight a family of 6 to grab some food we have been a numerous times and been alright...

We stopped off for some food before going to the theatre the service was fast girl was dry polite and the food was excellent .we had lasagne pizza all arrived very quickly we wasn't rushed and it was nice to see a pizza oven in front of you with wood burner and an Italian man cooking them .so impressed returning for my birthday in June.

The setting and location is perfect for the town centre. Great decor and service, and a wonderful menu.

Been here twice in the last week for separate occasions and both times were brilliant! One was a party of 10, and the other a party of 4. All our meals were delicious. The steak was cooked perfectly. The restaurant has retained its charm throughout the years with friendly and courteous staff.

Waiter friendly. That's the only positive I can give. My starter of olives was sickly erring on the 'off', I can only assume they have been left unopened and gone stale. I was looking forward to my main of Salmon Tagliatelle but was sorely disappointed. Overcooked pasta in a red sauce with bits of salmon. Sauce wasn't home made and tasted like tomato soup. Others had pizza and other sickly looking pasta dishes. They also had a mushroom starter that one said tasted like curry! Can't recommend this place at all. They even wanted rid of us at 9 o'clock to close........

Staying in area went in as looked nice and I wasn't wrong. Took order quite quickly , pizza ordered and you could see pastry being made and pizza freshly cooked. Tasted amazing , service was good , nice atmosphere etc will definitely go back if in area. As we arrived early we were in time for the 2 4 1 pasta and pizza.

Had another wonderful meal with my husband and parents. The food is so fresh and so tastey. We especially enjoyed calzone. Staff are nice too. Will definatly be back.

Have been coming to the Pizza Oven for many years & have never been disappointed. Whilst it is not the fanciest Italian out there, the food is delicious & great value for money and we would prefer to eat here rather than pay twice as much in a posh restaurant where the food is not as good. The service has always been great & the staff are always happy to accomodate our requests to sometimes change some ingredients. Would definitely recommend.

Went for a leaving 'do' for a colleague but been before and was not hopeful. Maybe I was too judgemental last time?No I wasn't.Service was bang average. Food (pizza) was not good. Ingredients sliding off base which was thin to say the least. Ambience poor and like eating in a canteen. Can't see me going again.

2 for 1 so was quite cheap! Food was nice but nothing fancy. The place was a bit dated, quite cold inside and the toilets weren't the nicest. Service wasn't great, left waiting as we came in, had to ask for extra drinks, no bye as we left - just the little things that make the difference!

Food fantastic and the waitresses are the friendliest and most helpful in South Yorkshire.We came for an anniversary celebration and had a fantastic time and the ginger cheesecake is to die for

This is the only restaurant serving pizza that I have been to cooked in a log burning oven. Really good food, what makes it so special is the outstanding value for money and super service

I've never had anything wrong with any of my meal, and neither has my wife. We have been at least 8-10 times. Only thing I could say is they should consider changing the huge fat chips to maybe thinner one or even fries. Service is usually spot on. Although once we did have this lady with short short greyish blonde hair whom didn't seem too happy to help.

I'm afraid this restaurant is now dated. I can remember coming here years ago but it's gone downhill a little. There is little atmosphere and the place needs a big deep clean.The food was ok but my main course was not piping hot. The gents toilets upstairs had no sign on the door so it took me ages to figure out where to go.This place is busy for an hour and then empty - is this to do with the place itself or a reflection of Rotherham in general?

Arrived on Thursday evening, place was busy, friendly greetings as we entered the restaurant. Quick service (drinks, menu). Starters arrived quiet quickly, tasty and on right temperature. Mains (pizzas) were delicious with variety of toppings. Seating next to the oven gave us the opportunity to watch the cooking process. The place has an antique touch. Recommended !

Lovely family meal celebrating a Birthday. Nice atmosphere, tasty food and great wine to accompany. Reasonable prices too. Really happy we chose here. The guy who served us was a bit of a grump but can get over that.Great experience, would recommend and go again.

Changes in family circumstances meant that my wife and I had to stop being fairly regular customers. An occasional, after work, group visit with colleagues meant that by the time of my latest visit (again with colleagues) meant that I only recognised one member of staff.I agree with an earlier comment that more staff would be better for customer service but at the time of our visit another member of staff would have only have been partly employed - so can understand the owners' dilemma.Our meal - where we only had main course - of 3 Calzone, 1 Salmone Taglietelle, 1 Polpettine and 1 Pizza - was very good. Portion sizes were good - some people only just managed to finish their portions.Due to driving; soft drink consumption was high but the red wine was good.I noticed that the family on the next table - with two young girls - also seemed to be enjoying their meals.All in all it was good to have made the return visit and need to mention that the 'early bird' deals are really good value.

Went for meal with friends ordered Pizza to take home for husband it was hardly cooked too much cheese and had a big hair on it will never go here again

As a family we have been visiting this restaurant for years and years and have loved every visit. We cannot speak highly enough of this restaurant! It has always retained its high quality Italian food and excellent service. The pizzas and calzones are cooked in a wood fired pizza oven and are to die for. The puddings are also lovely! The prices are reasonable and before 7pm weekdays they have 2for1 on pizza and pasta which is an amazing deal. Love this place!

Although food was OK, I think the service needs improving by having more staff to wait on tables. This used to be warm welcoming place, but the staff seemed stressed and under unnecessary pressure. Alas this was my go to restaurant in Rotherham, I will have to find somewhere else for future last minute dining.

Food was average..I Had a lasange wife had pizza..Pint of lager was awful..Decor oh my word back to the 80s..Could smell mould went to toliet then realised why

I used to love going to the restaurant. It was so exciting watching the pizzas cooking in the oven and seeing the chef prepare all the ingredients for each dish. The bruschetta is one of the best I have ever tasted and the pizzas were thin and crispy. The last time I went, it wasn't the same as before. Although, the restaurant looked identical to before, the taste of the food was much blander and the place was pretty much dead. Hopefully it goes back to what it used to be.

Visited for a late Sunday treat with the wife. Not been for years as had a bad experience some years ago but thought we would give it a try to redeem itself. The place was very quiet for a Sunday tea time with 3 other tables taken. Food was quite bland I thought and service was poor had one drink all way through our two courses as the waiter couldn't be bothered to ask if we wanted another drink. Was served our food by the chef whose hands were covered in flour from cooking. Didn't improve my experience I'm afraid and won't return.

Family visit every time and we have never had a bad meal. The pizzas are properly baked in the open oven and you can watch them being prepared. Lovely food each and everything we've been. Friendly staff and a fast service.

I've been going to the Italian pizza oven for about 17 years and it has never failed to leave me feeling satisfied and always full!! The food is delicious, fresh and high quality. I've been with just my wife, my family and with large parties and the food has always been good. I've tried a lot of the menu from pizzas to pasta, steaks to chicken dishes and they are all wonderful. Their particular stand out dish has to be their bruschetta. If go for that alone! Before 7 is 2for1 on pasta and pizza which really keeps the cost down with the kids. A real gem in the middle of Rotherham.

Chose this place as I was showing my friend how Rotherham High Street had developed since my friend had moved to Scotland a few years ago. There was only one other table occupied on a Saturday afternoon. We both ordered the meatballs but with different pasta with it. We both commented that the meatballs tasted very dry & only 4 on the plate. Didn't stay to try dessert. Wine was nice! Won't bother to visit again.

Went to pizza oven with work friends. We Didn't book but let us in reluctantly cos was a group of 10 (didn't wanna lose the cash) most of us had pizza. Came out cold,way too much garlic and staff very rude indeed. Didn't feel welcome at all. Making us feel rushes to eat our food and Making us all feeling very uncomfortable

We went on Saturday 9th July at around 5.30pm . We didn't book a table . We arrive in the restaurant and we said we needed a table for 10 we was then told that they were short staffed , it was clear they didn't want our custom and we said we would go elsewhere , they soon found a table and we was told not to swear has it was a family restaurant. The staff were rude and no matters what so ever. I ordered tagliatelle with salmon but came without salmon , my friends all ordered pizza's which wasn't hot or cut . We felt we were rushed in and rushed out . Will definitely not be going there in a rush .Yes we went before 7 and it wasn't busy . Please don't bother going it's a waste of money.

Visit often, but always before 7pm to utilise the 241 offer, I don't think we would visit if this offer wasn't running. Pasta dishes aren't much to write home about although the meatballs are quite tasty, however the pizzas and calzone are great tasting freshly made and cooked in the pizza oven. Wine isn't bad quality and the service has always been friendly, but can be a bit slow on busy evenings. All in all a good place to go if you're on a budget (before 7pm).

Went for a family tea (son, sister and nephew). Had only eaten here once before, years ago at the end of a night out but my sister and son have been a lot recently. Went on a Friday night at 17:30 and got the main meals at half price, as before 19:00 they have a 2 for 1 on pasta and pizza.Didn't have starters. My son and my sister had pizza (no problem swapping ingredients as my son wanted extra ham instead of onion), my nephew had meatballs in pasta and I had a Calzone, which came covered in a generous helping of bolognese sauce. The Calzone was excellent, which was also the opinion on the other three meals. A side salad was also excellent with plenty of black olives and salad leaves not simple lettuce.My son and nephew both had a fudge brownie which came with both ice cream and cream with strawberries on the side. Again the verdict was excellent.Staff are very friendly and attentive.Would recommend both before and after 19:00 hrs

I went here for the first time in about 20 years on Friday 20th May with a friend before going to the theatre. We arrived about 6.10pm and the restaurant was about half full. seated promptly and the order taken. then had to wait ages for the starter of garlic bread with tomato (delicious). due to the delay we mentioned that we had to leave soon for the theatre and could the mains be served asap. They came almost as soon as the starter was finished. Cannelloni and Quatro stagioni pizza. These were of average quality nothing special. 2 for 1 on mains made it okay. Excellent service, decent prices. middle of the road restaurant.

Went for a family meal, midweek. 2 for 1 deal , used to be good value but there have been price increases, so not such good value now. But what is most noticeable is the decor etc, What seem to be either cigarette or candle burns on table cloths and dirty oil/condiments holders are really unacceptable when prices have been increased! Just get rid of the top layer of tablecloths, dated, old and burned! No attenton to detail. A shame when the food is good, not amazing. I had no knife , had to ask for one. Its like being back in the 90's. Sorry but even my son said , ' you can buy paper tablecloths' , couldnt stop looking at the burn holes and thinking of the days when you could smoke in restaurants!

We went here for my sons 13th birthday, not been here in about 20 years. Was surprised how lovely the food was, if you go before 7pm your pasta and pizza is 2 for 1, the spaghetti Bol, lasagnes and spaghetti carbonara was very nice and tasty! The chips are proper fat chips! Me and my husband had garlic mushrooms in a creamy spicy sauce, they was gorgeous! I could have had a plate full for my main meal!!The staff was welcoming but it did become busy. The lady who makes the pizzas etc was very miserable though! My youngest son wanted to watch her making everything and she never acknowledged him! You would think she would have spoke to him!i would defiantly go back even when it's not a special occasion!

We went to The Italian Pizza oven for my husband and his brothers birthday, 12 adults and 3 children, crammed into a very tight fitting space, the waitresses couldn't get between the tables and kept shoving my children's chairs in so they could barely breathe. The food arrived after not waiting too long but was very burnt, most of our party ordered Pizza which were all very burnt and my brother in law found a full garlic clove in his Calzone, which is not acceptable. I ordered lasagne cannelloni that was burnt to a cinder and was barely edible. The food was bland and burnt, looking at other tables food it only seemed like ours was burnt, which I thought was odd. The children's drinks were extortionately priced £3.60 for two very small bottles of juice that only could be similar to drinking jam, disgusting. Really not happy with the service or the food and certainly won't be returning again.

Perfect night out with the hubby before heading to the civic.Lovely good quality home cooked food!!We will definitely be returning again x

I have been here twice now and both times I could not fault the food! It is fresh, hot and very tasty! The food comes to you quick which is great, and never have I tasted anything bland! The staff are so lovely! The woman that works there is great! So friendly and really wants you to enjoy your food! Not a bad word to say about this restaurant! Will definitely keep going back!

Visited December 2015 with a friend . Restaurant was cold, damp ( mould on walls ) and uninviting. Food was adequate but there was a distinct lack of any other cliental. Despite being the only two people in the restaurant we had to go to the bar to request drinks as no one came to serve us and when I visited the ladies room I found that the blind to the window consisted of a pieces of Christmas wrapping paper held up with drawing pins. As stated cheap and nasty . A better bet in Rotherham would be Good Fellas

Table and chairs really small was hunched over eating my food... Garlic bread was very sloppy when eating it... Yuk... Foods not great it's basically take away food...will not be returning.. Shandy was nice in order hand.....

Prior to singing at a concert at the Minster, I stopped here to spoil myself and because there weren't many places open. I received a very warm welcome by the polite staff, and the . I had Spaghetti con polpette (Spaghetti w/Meatballs) and the meat and pasta were cooked to perfection. For desert I tried a trio of sorbets and I would definitely try that again as it was a fine combination of sweet and sour flavours (Berry, lemon and mango sorbets). Finally I left feeling full and very satisfied. Buon Appetito!

We visit regularly to the pizza oven, and we did have a large party of people so we know we had to wait a little while for the food. Although we do know its a little wait on the food as its cooked fresh. There were a few mixed reports on the food, some pizza`s were really tasty- more the salarmi ones. However, the ham pizza was went bland and I was very suprised from the lack of topping. I think they were running out of ingredients as they were so busy, so I suspect they had to stretch the food out. The staff were amazing as usual, cant fault them. I will return to the restaurant, but I hope they add more topping next time.

Go here quite a lot and sometimes for the 2 for 1 before 7 which is always very good value. Food cooked on the premises, pleasantly served and enjoyable.

Second time we have been. If you get there before 7 pm it's 2 for 1 on mains, which is pretty good and a litre of wine for £14. Which was also ok. I had the calzone and my girlfriend had meatballs. Thy both looked amazing when they came out. When I cut into my calzone it was very watery and I think they forgotten what salt was as it tasted a bit bland. He meatballs were also a bit watery but tasty. The staff were very friendly. If I got again I will have a normal pizza as they looked tasty!

The Food was swimming in sauce and the veg tasted rotten. Nearly £150 for four meals. Won't be going again. I'd rather have a microwave meal.

4 Pasta dishes all poor and tasteless - I've had better freezer meals, poor presentation - drowned in sauce. Went to order deserts to be told they're very busy an we will have to wait 20 minutes so I asked for bill only to then be told they'd do them immediately....needless to say we left desert.Service was poor

Visited many times over the years. Went friday night,wondering if it would still be the same. It is obviously intentional that it has the exact same decor as thirty years ago. This is part of its charm. Red tables/chairs, checked tablecloths, everything unchanged. Food is always excellent. Had a lovely creamy mushroom starter, then pasta with tuna, delicious. Many staff have been there for a while, service excellent and very friendly. I usually have minestrone soup-best soup I have ever tasted but they didnt have it on this time. Never mind, it encouraged me to try something different which didnt disappoint. Lovely cosy atmosphere, perfect for a romantic early autumn meal. The two for one deal on pasta/pizza before 7pm makes it great value. Always makes us reminisce. Love it here!

Been many times and although the food is of good quality it has yet again been let down by poor standards of hygiene and poor service ! We guessed the toilets would have been cleaned / decorated in ten years and again they haven't they are scruffy to say the least with no soap !The strip light above our table was filthy and the poor standards of cleanliness generally all over the restaurant lets it down .It seems it is badly managed and staff have no direction , they all stood chatting near the stairs and we had to attract their attention for drinks the bill etc they need to be more attentive and this would go along way .our table was only half cleared and no cutlery for mains given so then another wait for cutlery when mains arrived and no space on table as full of glasses if they had done the job properly this wouldn't have happened !Its a shame as this place was a favourite .

We have been visiting this bistro type restaurant for years because we enjoy the food, ambience and friendly staff. This was the case on our last visit, the calzone is a must! On our last visit we waited nearly an hour for our main courses and when questioned we were told that you have to wait for freshly cooked food. The late Michael Winner would have been appalled. So, you will enjoy your trip but be prepared to wait

We have regularly visited the Italian pizza oven and made the most of their buy one get one free offer! It's my son's favourite restaurant and we have many happy memories of lovely family meals here! Thank you!

The place is great. After a frontal face lift looks all the better. Been going here years and listening to the shout "Away" from the wood burning stove. Staff friendly. Mussles are fab. Steaks are cooked well!! Rare = rare and tasty Dessert specials are good too. Always a great twist. Definitely a place to visit when in town

We have been visiting here since 1989 and have never really had a bad meal. Everything is tasty and well worth the price. Tonight we had steak Diane which was tender and juicy.

Went on Monday and you get any pizza, pasta buy one get one free. All I would say is starters quite expensive and drinks so if you want a cheap quick tea as the offer is only on till 7pm then I would avoid starters etc. the food was nice and we had a nice time

Me and my son go here before every Rotherham match. Food always excellent and exceptional value! The staff are always courteous and provide excellent service. Would thoroughly recommend!

We love this little place! I ve been going here for 10 years or so and have never been disappointed. The food is prepared freshly in front of you and baked in the stone oven the staff are attentive and pleasant no matter how busy they are. Great value for money!! Well worth a visit.

I've been going here for the last 15 or so years and not much has changed In that time . The food speaks for itself. Each dish I prepared in front of the stone oven where you can see and then watch it go in to start cooking. It's a lovely friendly relaxed atmosphere and the food just keeps me coming back time and time again.

Maybe I'm spoiled by European restaurants, but this place needs some good hands. First of all- untidy interior. Electrical leads lying around is not pleasant view. A little refurbishment would be great. Chairs are quite tall compared with tables. Food: for the chef- orange juice from tetrapack is not freshly squeezed. Soup was ok, but i can't understand why all "italian" soups are made from tomatoes. Chicken a la bolognese was good prepared, but with just few leaves of salad and NOT fresh cucumbers... Maybe i made mistake not taking their famous pizza, but when i saw poor amount of ingredients on menu, i just didn't wanted to try it...All picture would be quite bad, but the staff were very nice and i hope this place will get better.

Went here for valentine the place was really busy but the service was fantastic and the food was out of this world would highly recommend a visit

Went with relatives so had a table for 9 - and there were a few other large tables arrived around the same time (6:00pm-ish on Saturday) so were pleasantly surprised at the efficiency of service and quality of food. Shared some garlic bread to start which was excellent - and very garlicky! For mains some had pizza some pasta. Pizzas all looked good and tasted good according to those who had them. My canneloni/lasagne combo tasted OK but thought the portion size was a little mean; someone else in our party just had the lasagne which also looked on the small size.Staff all friendly and due to a number of other large tables there was a really good atmosphere - probably not the best choice for a romantic dinner for two!

we were a party of 8 who went for a birthday party, it seems that they were out of wood for the oven, our starters were undercooked, (an under done pizza in a pizza restaurant) !!!. service was ok friendly and prompt, when our mains arrived yet again underdone, soggy dough calzone yummy!!! my wife had meatballs price just under a tenner and for this you get 3 meatballs (slightly bigger than supermarket ones) so the good lady wasn't impressed, I wont say we wont go back but if its the same next time I wont go back for a third time

Sat down at 6pm with people sitting down after us, our order wasn't taken until everyone else's had making us wait 1hr 15 mins before our food arrived. Service was poor, calzone pizza was swimming in fluid to the point we had to get them to drain it away. Was soggy, not cooked properly and didn't seem interested when it was brought up. We have been here many many times before the refurb and never been disappointed until now.

My self and my husband eat here every Saturday lunch and the food is fantastic very friendly place and would recommend this to any one that loves Italian food

Myself & my partner have been here many times (although not as often now we have kids) & we are always happy. Really friendly atmosphere, good food & service as well as good value for money. The 241 on pizzas & pastas before 7 makes it a very affordable evening but I would also highly recommend the steak dianne. I would like to see them update the inside (tables & chairs especially) but the interior decor will certainly not stop us going whenever we have a sitter :-)

Visited the Pizza Oven on Saturday for the first time, I was really pleased with the service, it was really quick even though the restaurant was busy. The price of the pizza were very good, and the quality of the food was excellent. I would definitely recommend this restaurant to anyone. It was lovely to visit and Italian restaurant that isn't part of a large nationwide chain. The atmosphere was good and we will be returning very soon.

Whilst the menu and the fact that they had a wood-fired oven for the pizzas looked as an impressive statement of intent, there were a number of serious failings that let me down.Firstly, the chairs and tables aim to give a rustic, Italian look. But the chairs are quite uncomfortable and unreasonably high... whilst the table has some form of skirting that goes way to low towards the chair, making it almost impossible to avoid hitting your tights against the table. This setting makes it all too uncomfortable. Then comes the food. The starter was ok-ish, but had no seasoning at all. Simply no salt or pepper at all.For mains, I ordered a dish that is half an order of cannelloni and half and order of lasagne. I could see lasagne in my dish, but it was impossible to ascertain whether the other half was lasagne as well or cannelloni. Then comes the taste. Bland. Extremely bland because there was no seasoning at all. These dishes should be packed with flavour and the sauce is meant to be rich, not the watery, insipid joke that was that sauce.My wife ordered a pizza that was ok-ish. But again, no salt, no pepper, no seasoning.And service was also a big miss in this place. Whilst the waters were quick to take an order, they were just too busy chatting to each other near the till (away from the sight of most of the customers) and they rarely checked if we wanted something. In fact, by the time I ordered a second drink, I had less than half a portion left to eat and, by the time I finally got my drink, I was already done with the main! I can't be that a waiter needs 8 minutes to get a simple soft drink, can it?But this lack of attention to service became worse by the time it came to ordering the bill: 15 minutes before a waiter even thought about coming by our table.8 minutes to get our bill from the time we asked for it20 minutes for the waiter to come to our table with the credit card terminal.But the waiters must have been having a great time by the till, because when we left all of them were chatting with the cook!

Hi AllI visited Pizza Oven first as part of a hen do (15 of us) we ordered as part of the 2 4 1 deal if you order before 7, service is excellent, prompt service with food, drinks etc.Second visit was to celebrate a birthday with friends and family, again service was spot on, staff really friendly and fab with the kids, All food served on both occasions was fab, pizza to die for and divine pasta dishes, puddings especially the pecan pie was amazing,I would definitely visit again. Make sure you book a table before 7 if you visit to get the 2 4 1 on mains offer and its then a bargain
