Istanbul BBQ Wigan in Wigan

Unfortunately this restaurant cannot cope with large bookings. Firstly to mention the food, it wasn’t bad. But it wasn’t the best either. I had feta triangles to start and they were greasy and lacked filling. I had the Ottoman casserole for main and it was quite bland. But more importantly, the chefs forgot to cook the main meals for 7 people out of our group. 3 of them left early as they didn’t want to wait and the rest were told after around 1.5 hours of waiting that they hadn’t even started them. It was a shambles and it ruined a 40th birthday meal.

Web site says open. We travelled there for lunch. IT WAS CLOSED!! Why does it say you are open on your web site. We were celebrating our birthday and we’re so disappointed

Heard amazing things about this place so booked for my moms birthday. Loved the starters they were brilliant we had mushrooms, garlic bread, halloumi, king prawns, humous & bruschetta between us all and everyone really enjoyed the starters. When the mains arrived unfortunately for the 4 guests who ordered the chicken doner it wasn’t what we thought and was just shredded chicken full of gristle & bits of bones which was sad. Everyone else really enjoyed their mains. Will most definitely return and try something different. The young girl who served us was Absolutley fantastic too. All staff seemed lovely and friendly.

Walked in and the restaurant was almost empty, 3 or 4 tables including ours. Somebody from the kitchen came out to take our order when there were 2 waitresses stood staring in to space. Drinks took ages to arrive. Asked to order food once drinks arrived and the waitress said the kitchen was too busy so we’d have to wait (the restaurant was literally empty!) Starters were ok. Main meals had things missing and the chicken was pink!! Had belly ache afterwards. Horrendous from start to finish, definitely would not go back.

Went on Saturday 25/6/22 at 2pm with family group of 9 adults and 3 kids aged 5-6 years. First impressions wre very good - decor and cleanliness excellent. We were served with a cheery smile and we all enjoyed the various food selections we ordered. Large portions! Well cokked and very tasty. I couldn't pick any faults and will be going back (in smaller group) very soon. Recommended.

Same as always. Cracking food and attentive staff. Always a good visit and a great way to spend a Sunday afternoon when you fancy something a bit different. Don't bother going unless your hungry. The portions are amazing.

Lovely little place with a nice atmosphere and they’ve also got an outdoor drinking area with music and shisha! Food was lovely couldn’t fault it

me and my family went here for the 1st time and all 16 off us give this restaurant 10/10. the staff and food was amazing .thank you for making this a special day for my grandsons birthday..

4 of us went for lunch today for 'Thursday Lunch Club'. All 4 of us would recommend. We have eaten in numerous places and this was one of the best places we have frequented recently. Food was hot, well presented and delicious. All of us had the chicken sizzler and we would definitely recommend this dish. The restaurant itself was clean and well presented. The seating was extremely comfortable, even after couple of hours and although there were many tables, each had plenty of space and didn't encroach on other diners. Very reasonably priced with set menus available. Definitely one to try and return to again and again.

Went for lunch. Had starters and main and shared dessert. All delicious and great service. We loved it.

Went here this afternoon walked in first impression was clean and neat tables ..empty resteraunt asked if they were open they said yes so we were showed to a table . Waiter took drink orders and off he went . 15 mins later still waiting for our drinks and to give him our food order . Gave food order . Waiter didn't seem to be able to get his head around what we were ordering even though it was simple . Starters came out which we all enjoyed the houmous was delish as was the mini meatballs the tdzatziki we all enjoyed . The mains arrived ... Oh dear .. the meat was fatty swimming in grease the salad was strange beansprouts and lettuce ? Some had tomato some didn't . The rice was cold and also had a strange taste like ammonia . The waiter came over I told the truth the food was terrible . I told him it was fatty he said the meat had to be fatty so they could carve it ?? Rubbish . My friends had chicken kebab that was fatty and raw and had an odd taste of fish . One of the children had meatballs main and the meat was pink .. I spoke to the manager on the way out who was basically arguing with me when I told him we had sent our meals back .. I told him I had had better kebabs in the Turkish shops in cheetham hill which he then told me they were all crap. A last minute sorry as I walked out of the door £100 lighter . Food expensive and horrible please please stay away . I've been to hundreds of Turkish resteraunts and this is by far the worst. Avoid !

Sooooo impressed. From the outside, those of us who are judgemental might have certain expectations. Well, I am so impressed. Went tonight with friends and it was dead in there. It is a Wednesday in January so does make sense. But it didn’t bode well. Super lovely woman waited on us - Leyla the assistant manager. All three of us had three courses and every course was lush! Fresh. Tasty. Flavoursome. Temperature appropriate. Just so good! Perfect portion sizes. The cocktails are amazing. Rossi Gin is a game changer in terms of cocktails. I recommend it peeps! The food and drinks are very reasonably priced. Massive menu… including a very good set menu. All in all we all came away having had a fab night and very fully tummies! I highly recommend. We will be going again.

Went for tea tonight after hearing good things . Starters was nice . Main came . Half way through discovered that my chicken was raw . Explained to manager that my chicken was raw . There words where that apparently if u want ur chicken not pink u have to request your food to be over cooked. Spoke to many people and they have said the same . Posted this on Wigan food reviews to at least 10 people commented the same . Absolutely disgusting won’t be returning . Chicken. Should never be served pink! WONT be returning

I was expecting great things due to all the recommendations I'd had for this place. But in the end we had four of our orders sent wrong and subsequently never corrected (missing items wrong drinks etc). Plus the donner meat (which I personally was really looking forward to was nothing special). I will say the white bait starter was OK. But at £36 pound per head for two courses I'd have wanted something much better. Perhaps they were having an off day but it was hardly busy.

I've been meaning to hit this place for a long time and didn't disappoint. They do I takeaway service but I wanted the full Dining in experience. Firstly, the setting is nice, big room, lots of tables and Turkish music. If you closed your eyes you could have been in Ankara. Wide and extensive drinks and food menu. I had a couple of pints of efes, good gear so we were off to a solid start. Service was quick and very attentive. I ordered the mixed chargrilled kebab. The portion size was huge, I couldn't finish it all. The dish includes lamb donor, chicken donor, lamb chop X 2, a circular shaped lamb kofte, world's biggest chicken wing and chicken. Bread was underneath the food and was tremendous, accompanied by a chilli salsa,a mint yogurt source and salad. Did it bang I hear you say?. Yes, it did. The vast majority of the plate was packed with flavour and cooked well, although the wasn't without fault. The chicken breast was overcooked, it was that tough it was offering me straighteners in the car park and lacked in seasoning. Another minor issue, I would have preferred the bread to be on a separate plate. It gives this place a solid 8 out of 10, I will be returning to try the fish platter.
