At check in we were told breakfast was at 7am, this was good for us as we had to leave at 7.45am. Room was lovely, except for the bathroom which was whey too small! We got up for breakfast and was very dissapointed when breakfast was actually at 8am. We then wondered where we needed to leave our key as all the doors into the pub was locked, we rang several times as no one answered to start with. The price of £189 for our 1 night stay WITHOUT breakfast was extortionate for the experience we received. Very dissapointed to say the least

We've been here previously for a meal and drinks, which were ok. Nice outdoor tables looking out over the Peak District scenery. But this time we stayed two nights and definitely won't go back. Service in the dining rooms is dreadful, both for an evening meal and breakfasts. Mornings were particularly bad. Having waited about 20 minutes to order our breakfasts on Saturday, we had to chase after 40 minutes before the food arrived. The place was not busy so there really was no excuse. It would have been quicker to walk across the road to the cafe at National Trust Longshaw Estate. The bedroom was ok but nothing exciting, no view from the window and above the bottle banks and area where kitchen staff took their breaks. Overall, we would not recommend it and will not stay there again despite its excellent location for walking in the Peak District and its proximity to Sheffield.

The atmosphere and hospitality was fantastic. Staff were very helpful and friendly. The location is perfect for walking/outdoor activities. It did feel a little busy at times, but this show its popularity. The room was lovely, with great views but the bed was a little hard.

Everything was good Apart from I wouldn’t stay in room 7 as the radiator was very noisy all night and in room 4.

This hotel does not know what customer service is. After booking the room, we sent a special request to the hotel asking for a late check-in due to a late evening flight (arriving in Manchester at 11:00 p.m. arriving at the hotel between 1-2 a.m.) We received this reply: "Your request cannot be currently secured, however, The Fox House by Innkeeper's Collection accommodation will do everything to accommodate you upon arrival."So we expected that someone would be waiting for us there. After picking up the car and arriving at the hotel before 2am, the hotel was closed and extinguished. We tried to write and call the hotel, but no response. It was cold and raining a lot that night. After a while of searching, we found a bell on the door and asked to be admitted to the hotel. - there were 2 employees in the hotel, a man and a woman (night porter). We explained to the woman that we had requested a late check-in, that we had a reservation. But she told us that check-in is between 15:00 and 22:00. We explained to her several times that we had a reservation, but they refused to accommodate us and we had to wait the whole night in the car in the parking lot in the winter and rain. I can't even imagine if we were traveling with children and they beat us like that! After this terrible experience we immediately requested to cancel the stay because who would go to a hotel that treats guests in such a way. No apology came from the hotel, even the payment for 1 night was deducted and the reservation was canceled by the hotel. The payment has still not been returned to our account.

The location was great, room seemed clean etc. But from about 8pm (when we'd put our kids to bed) we could hear several rats running around above the ceiling. About 10:30pm I tried to get hold of night manager, but the phone near the room and the buzzer on the door to the pub were not working. I finally got through by calling the pub number directly (it was closed). The only room available to swap to was where the manager was staying, and it was the room above our current one. Decided it wasn't worth waking the children and swapping just to be on top of the rats. We were told we could swap rooms the next morning. We also had been told via communication before arriving that breakfast was from 7-9:30, so we booked swimming for 9am. However when we got to the restaurant at 7:40 were told it wasn't til 8am. We waited in the pub. We gave our breakfast order but were then told at 8:20 that the gas / heating wasn't working and we couldn't have some of our order. We went out for the day and came back at 3 to change rooms. We unpacked in the new (lovely, rat-free room) and went for a drink in the pub. We were then told that because of the gas problem we would have to move hotels to Castleton. So I had to re-pack again and we had to leave our drinks and drive 20 mins to Castleton. After speaking to the manager, my husband did get a refund for most of the cost of our stay which we appreciated, but we got £236 (although I'd paid £263). It was very disruptive for a 2 night stay to have 3 hotel rooms, and NO sleep on the first night because of the noise or the rats.

Tried their matcha latte and it was probably the worst matcha latte I had. They did not blend/whisk it properly and they put more milk than the matcha powder. Not coming back for the matcha again.

Nice old local pub. We had a few pints of cider there on Sunday. The pub was slowly getting full in the coming evening.
