Great location,excellent accommodation, good dining experience and good breakfast choice. Friendly and helpful staff.

We loved the position next to the canal , far enough from the road not to disturb your sleep ,convenient distance from Chester centre to walk in or catch park and ride a short drive away. The downstairs was stunning , full of character , pristine clean, the staff were super friendly . The food was good too. Small criticisms , we found the mattress a little too firm , a topper would be good . The shower was not very powerful but hot enough. It would be nice to have a little more choice at breakfast , it was either full English or several options with eggs , would be nice to have a bacon or sausage balm cake maybe , also fresh fruit option . Seeing as you pay £9.50 per person for breakfast , only one option , we tend to have cereal with fruit and smaller option of bacon balm cake , would find it a bit boring if we were staying more than two nights with the options available especially as not an egg lover ! But none of these things would stop us returning we loved our break

Old hotel, dirty carpet, cobwebs everywhere, door broken and unhinged. The wardrobe is missing. Nice bathroom. Reviews and photos too untrue. Breakfast is not a buffet but it is good. Reception not welcoming and small

Sophie and Steph were excellent. The chef was let down - couldn't cook a hard boiled egg or toast.

Room 14 :- "Rooms" would score 5⭐ if it had been a King-size bed. Very impressed : large bathroom and spacious bedroom area .

Staff were very friendly, room was comfortable and clean. Food was great. We ate in the restaurant and the waitress was on her own in the whole room and was extremely busy but was absolutely great - kept us informed of delays and ensured we had everything we needed.

Arrived a bit early for check in, but the very helpful young man on the bar (sorry didn't get your name) sorted us out. We had two rooms booked, very clean and well presented we had rooms 7 and 9 in the outside anex, lovely and comfortable bed, went in for our evening meal when we returned from the races great food brill service, would have liked an other drink but bar closed 11pm, went in for breakfast in the morning to be treated by the same young man as the day before, great service very nice breakfast 5star we will be back again.

Quality food, we ended up having dinner most evenings here as we found the menu great. Lovely relaxing atmosphere, great accommodation and location is ideal for exploring Chester. Definitely will stay again.

Amazing location, beautiful rooms, great staff and service, food was unreal and overall a great stay. Breakfast was really nice, good selection on the menu, complimentary coffee and juice with this too. Beds were a little hard and very hot, however we went to buy plug in fans to accommodate this, beds could do with being a bit softer.

Large room. Clean. Comfortable beds.Great black out curtains. Nice location to walk into Chester. Plenty of parking. Excellent, hot fresh breakfast cooked to order. Evening meal was okay - waitresses were a bit surly.

Second stay here. Good location for Chester. Nice setting next to canal. Rooms comfortable and functional without frills. At £114 for a 1 night stay with breakfast not particularly cheap nor expensive. Probably cheaper midweek compared to a Saturday.

Very clean and quiet in our room. Staff friendly and very nice breakfast. Thought it was good value for money. Plenty of parking.

Loved thd atmosphere, the decor,the space etc. Liked food and log fires. Staff were relaxed and unhurried. Park and ride to Chester cheap snd only a mile away which was fantastic as car parks in the city are incredibly tight on space.

Room was very good, with a comfortable bed and separate shower room. Breakfast was good. Small problems were that the toilet would flush but would not flush away what needed flushing away, I had to remove the cistern cover and fill up with water from the sink to just below the overflow level to make it flush correctly. While we were not watching tv we put it on briefly in the morning and BBC 1 picture was very poor and jumping and freezing and ITV had no reception at all, saying there was no signal.

Excellent stay again as we came same time last year. This was carried over becuase I has booked via the website initally for a football trip earlier in the year but the game was rearranged. Therefore phoned the Hotel direct and they were excellenty at accomodating a change of date so much so that we booked an extra night. Staff were very frioendly and efficient. Room was lovely, no complaints. We left early on the Sunday as we were up but the inter connecting door was still shut at just gone 8am, so we used the night entrance to get to the car park but took some time to locate a member of staff to drop off the key. The hot tap in the wash basin just kept spurting out water rather than running normally and the side lamp on the left hand side of the bed on the wall had come away and needs resecuring, loioks like this has happened before and screws need re tightening, I did but it back as best that I could.

Really nice rooms- warm and cosy and very tastefully decorated. It was a shame that the choice of continental breakfast was very limited- tea, coffee, juice - and the only choice of cereal was Weetabix. On the other hand the full breakfast was excellent- one of the best I've had at a hotel.

We loved the room and bathroom. The pub served a lovely roast dinner. We liked the location next to the canal. We found breakfast too expensive and so decided against having it.

We haven't been for a few years, due to covid. So we were pleased that nothing much had changed. Rooms were welcoming and clean, with good toiletries. Staff were helpful and polite.

We've now stayed at Cheshire Cat for the third time and can never find any reason to complain or find fault
