Service with friendly staff, delicious food- steaks, burgers and a goats cheese salad. Presentation and taste sensations. Puddings were well received by all and drinks very reasonably priced.

Food wasn’t good at all. Found a black hair in my reheated macaroni. It was also cold. I sent it back and My daughter’s steak was “ok” but the onion rings etc did not look homemade. Very young lad serving. I paid the whole bill, although I didn’t eat my dinner. I won’t be back I’m afraid, or recommend.

Am I missing something . My mum raves about this place , and I have really tried , but it is truly awful . The food is very poor quality , and belongs in an era where dining public standards were so low they didn’t know any better. My partner had Caesar salad which was difficult to describe but said the chicken was tasteless and rubbery,the croutons were soggy, he couldn’t describe the sauce . My steak was burnt and rubberry, vegetables tasteless, onion rings straight from a bag. Oh well never again . You live and learn.

Popped in for lunch on a cold wet Monday. It was lovely to see the woodburners aglow, the inn was cosy and we received a cheery welcome from the chap behind the bar. It’s a traditional inn, dark wood finishes and coach house style windows. Plenty of space between the tables and a well stocked bar. There is extra seating in an extension at the rear and outside tables for sitting at in the warm summer days. A good choice is offered on the menu, we opted for the homemade lentil soup and the lads had a filled baguette. Soup was served piping hot and delicious. It was busy for a Monday, testimony to its good food and friendly service. We would recommend a visit, we’ll certainly be back.

We are currently staying in the cottage attached to the pub which has made popping in most days very convenient! We have eaten there 4 times in the week and visited for just drinks on the other days. The pub is a ‘proper’ pub which is not always easy to find in Scotland so we were pleased when we first arrived. The real ales are delicious (so my husband tells me) and so are the mini bottles of Prosecco! The food is yummy - yes the chips are pale but they are tasty and well cooked and not underdone as a previous reviewer stated. The menu changes daily and there has been more than enough to choose from each time. The children’s menu is good value and comes with a drink and ice cream. As visitors we have been made to feel very welcome each time we have popped in. The pub doesn’t accept bookings but we never found this an issue. Early dining seems to be the busiest time between 5-7 then it becomes quiet by 8.30pm. Lovely atmosphere, roaring fires and tasty food!

Absolutely disgusting!!! Service was terrible. Food was disgusting. The chips were undercooked, burgers were burnt, fish was swimming in oil and steak was bland. Will not return!

Visited for lunch on Saturday. We got a table but place was busy. I had soup which was very good and then we both had fish and chips which were excellent. Only thing I would say is that I do not think salad with fish and chips is a good accompaniment. Surely peas would be better and easier! Went back to check the board but merely said F and Ch. That said, we both enjoyed what we had and would certainly return.

Fantastic pub quiz. We had dinner and stayed on. They even give out free sandwiches at half time which we managed even though we were stuffed. The staff were brilliant and the food was so tasty and keenly priced. The smoked haddock was fantastic.

Perfect pub grub served piping hot in a timely manner. Clearly a very well run establishment with plenty of energetic youthful staff who were very willing to please. Also must say that the menu represents very good value for money. Sunday roast (beef) was absolutely delicious with melt in the mouth beef and the best gravy ever. Will be back soon. Thanks

Always stop here if travelling North or East on days out or holidays and I always have the Haddock in Breadcrumbs which tastes like real fish should taste like. The Chips are home made not frozen and again taste like chip shop chips!

Stopped here on way back to Edinburgh and called in uncooked for lunch. Friendly staff and lovely old Inn 1806. Warm and welcoming on a “dreich” day. Had the roast pork and all the trimmings and it was delicious and reasonably priced. Would certainly recommend.

We had a fab lunch, haddock was beautiful, area very clean and well spaced out, all staff wore masks and gloves, tables were throughly cleaned between guests. Contactless payments and it was requested that guests wore masks when moving around. Felt very safe.

We visited The Inn at Muckart on recommendation from friends who told us it was Dog Friendly. When we arrived with 3 dogs, we were given a very friendly welcome and were directed to the dogs permitted area in the main bar. The staff were very welcoming and made us feel comfortable immediately which was reassuring for our first visit.One of the ladies came out from behind the bar with a bowl of water for our dogs and made a nice fuss over them before taking a drinks order.The young man behind the bar was very attentive and took our drinks order then our food order, he read it back to us to ensure we were all getting the right order, very impressive indeed.The drinks were poured and one of his colleagues took the food order to the kitchen, all in all, so far, so good.Within 10 minutes of us arriving and ordering, the pub became quite busy and we were impressed that everyone received a similar welcome.The food arrived and was delicious, again, great service.I will return here and will definitely recommend to friends. This pub is a absolutely smashing place to go for a evening meal whilist on holiday in scotland we visited muckhart twice and on both occasions the service was friendly and the food was lovely and reasonably priced. CURRY NIGHT on a thursday was scrupmtious and the portions were rather generous. No room for dessert.

I have eaten at the Inn at Muckhart several times and every visit is a real pleasure. Generous portions of good quality pub food, well presented, in a historically themed traditional pub. In the winter, log fires provide a warm welcome. The owner makes his own beer (Devon Ales) which is terrific and only available here and in his other pub - a real treat for beer aficionados. Staff are courteous and helpful. Also prices are very reasonable!

On our trip to Stirling we passed by this inn and we were attracted by its appearance. It certainly is a place with history! The main reason for stopping however was that we wanted to have a small lunch and there we were certainly not disappointed. A large choice of dishes on the blackboard with some classics but also decent local food. We went for the pork roast with apple and really enjoyed it. The prices are correct and the choice of drinks is vast. What more do you want in a historic but cosy inn?

We stopped for lunch after a wet hike up to Castle Campbell. The interior is pretty much classic Pub, with a good range of bar options and pub food. Everyone found something to their liking, and whoever is operating the deep fat fryer knows their trade well.

We eat at the Muckhart Inn 3-4 times a year and the last occasion was a Thursday evening with friends. There is always a good choice of reasonably priced dishes on the menu and on our latest visit we were delighted to find that an additional Indian Menu is offered on Thursdays. Being lovers of Indian food we all opted for the special menu which was delicious with generous portion sizes.

There is a very varied menu, with a relaxed atmosphere. The staff were friendly, and the food arrived with a minimal wait. We all had different dishes, and all were tasty, and good value.

Always is great food. Been there a few times and never disappointed. This time was Sunday, beautiful spring weather and the Inn was full. We struggled to find a parking space but eventually, we made it. We both had breaded fish and chips and a side salad. It was a big portion of salad and fish was quite big too. I struggled to finish it.

Was pretty empty when we came in, staff were friendly and food was what you’d expect for a pub. Decor isn’t nothing special and you’d probably assume it was closed if driving past outside during lighter hours. All in all a pretty forgettable experience but not a bad one.

If there's a group of you, this is a good place to gather and have a feed. Plenty of parking, easy to find and good pub grub!

We often eat here on the way to or back from an event. No booking is allowed - you take your chance. Menu doesn’t change much but good fare.

Went for bar lunch sat 2nd March wasn't busy when we arrived but three or four tables filled up as we ate, menu was very good service was excellent thoroughly enjoyed our meal and will definitely be back, portions were above average and two of my party couldn't finish but enjoyed what they could eat very much.

Consistently high standards - food and service is always 1st class. Walk in the door, the owners acknowledge you and have the right glass for our preferred tipple. You don’t get that at our main watering hole.

Many people have enjoyed visiting the pub for many years but it now is very shabby looking and grubby. The plates are gray with age, the tables and chairs varnish is all chipped and the upholstery is worn and threadbare. When the public areas are like this it makes you wonder what the kitchens are like. It is sad that the owners are not looking after the pub and making more of an effort to freshen it up and keep it clean. Very disappointing.

Very disappointed after hearing good reviews. The macaroni was swimming in a liquid that was certainly not a sauce. If you can't even make a simple dish such as macaroni cheese then there's not much hope.

My boyfriend’s family and I visited the Inn for Christmas Day dinner yesterday. The food was delicious with lots of good choices. The service, as always, was amazing, very friendly family owned pub. Lovely calm, cosy atmosphere which made Christmas Day a lot less stressful for everyone. Would definitely recommend it for Christmas dinner, great price too. We’ll be back! Out for a drive along the Ochiles and felt a wee bit peckish. Stopped in at the Inn. The food was tasty and plentiful. I had the pork and Apple sauce, my girlfriend had the spicey burger. The staff were friendly and attentive. The young waitress with dark hair and glasses was especially good making sure all the diners had all they needed. I will be back for sure

Had a lunch meal with my boyfriend. The portions were ginormous but very tasty. Very nice staff and a very cozy atmosphere.

Staff are really helpful and friendly. Food was really tasty and big portions. Very quaint setting. Prices are very reasonable too. Only downside was it could do with some investment, especially in the toilets, they are clean but a bit run down looking.

On a blustery night a warm welcome and straight forward good food without frills and excellent value. The smoked salmon salad was plentiful and the gammon steak very generous.

Recent stay in Powmill area so wanted to eat locally. Spotted this pub on way to another location and returned for evening meal. Lovely atmosphere in pub and very friendly service. Ate haddock mornay with veg, very well cooked and large fish portion which was just up my street. Husband had one of their new meatball dishes and they were keen to have feedback which is always a sign of a chef who is interested in the customer. Recommend to any traveler to the area.

We visited for lunch back in July with my wife, 2 daughters and mother after being let down elsewhere. Food was excellent, good value for money and very friendly staff. Definitely worth a visit.

We were a party of 5, including children. Most opted for the breaded haddock and chips, also the rump steak and black pudding. Everything was superb. Really tasty food, and this was followed by delicious Molten cookie dough with ice cream - which the kids were in ecstasy over. Only two staff on, so they were stretched - but it was a great meal. My only gripe is the little sauce sachets - finicky and difficult to open, with very little sauce inside. Surely this is a costly way and not very environmentally friendly. Certainly recommended.

We visited for dinner. We were greeted warmly and the choice of food was great. I ordered chicken curry and my husband ordered fish and chips. Both were delivered to the table quickly and were piping hot. Both were absolutely delicious. We both decided to try the desserts. I had hot chocolate fudge cake with cream which was the best dessert I have had in a long time. My husband had gin and elderflower cheesecake and cream which was also light and delicious. We really could not fault the good or the service and would highly recommend this restaurant if you are ever nearby. We will certainly be back

Traditional pub with good homely food and atmosphere. Traditional pubs are a dying breed, taken over by gastronomy - however this is one of those rare gems that sticks with it’s tradition! Always busy and the prices are VERY reasonable. Great place if you’re missing the good old days of your granny’s cooking with a good chat with the locals.

We’ve eaten here now for maybe a couple of years or more, beginning with plate busting helpings of quite superbly cooked nosh at sub average prices to now, with the latter still sub average but the food now without a single thing to distinguish it from several dozen others places scattered across central Scotland. Yesterday’s was my worst yet, resulting in a decision to travel a little more next time in search of better grade lunches.
