Indian Food Club (IFC) in Great Yarmouth

Stunning restaurant. Great food and service. Starter, main, rice, and bread: bill came to £22; reasonably priced. Large menu but the lady serving asked what kind of dish I wanted (which meat) and made some helpful recommendations, including the dishes they’re famous for A fried chicken starter. This was so hot and fresh and delicious. Only downside was I did not expect there to be some small bones so be careful. But a great choice. I tried a chicken curry based on recommendation. Delicious. Served with rice and signature fried bread. I asked for tap water and was given bottled water free of charge.

Tried all indian food in GY and can admit ...it's the best one by mile. Looking forward to a new location change 😀

Only discovered the IFC yesterday, said this would be our future place to eat when visiting Gt Yarmouth, only to discover they are moving! Can only say the service was delightful. The food was flavoursome. So different to other Indian meals we have had. The Chicken 65 as a starter was full of flavour. The Chicken Mallibarh was out of this world. Would love to be able have this again. The Butter Chicken was unique. All I can say, the residents of where they are moving to (Gorleston)? are in for a treat.

Exceptional food at this restaurant attached to the adjacent Indian grocery. I had the best chicken hot and sour soup I've ever had and the chicken nilgri korma was delicious. I just wish they weren't so popular and the phone didn't ring so much!

A solid gold food spot. This place is sensational, everything bursting with flavour, super fresh and portioned so you have room for a rich and flavourful dessert. The Konju Theeyal was phenomenal. Cannot wait to visit again.

Very poor service by the girl in the reception on the 10th August evening .. didn’t bother to welcome the guests .. didn’t bother to offer water .. didn’t bother to provide menu card or take order for good 20mins .. she was too bothered about servicing the English guests .. totally disappointed with our visit to the restaurant due to such a worst service.

This is my first time at the Indian food club and I have to say, I was a little lost when I first looked at the menu. Thankfully, the staff was incredibly helpful and their recommendations were absolutely delicious! The spices, especially in the Kerala porotta and the Malabar kozhi curry, were simply divine. I can't wait to come back. I have so much love for the Indian Food club!

Every time same food tastes different. I don’t think they have proper chefs just random guys cooking. With this rating I don’t want kill my self

I have ordered food and made me wait 55mins and the guy in the reception says few mins will be ready soon. After 55 mins got the food.Some food is under cooked and moreover his behaviour to customer is worse. There is only 4customer in the restaurant and he says the restaurant is busy that is why it’s takes time. Poor organisation skills and management.

Highlighting specific dish the travamcore fish curry and the kerala porotta it was just amazing, our experience at the restaurant was amazaing truly enjoyed each and everything,The atmosphere was very calm and quite it was soo good got the homely feel,including the friendliness of the staff was great.

The food we ate from there was good, but the takeout made us sick for 2 days. The restaurant needs to monitor the food quality. When I informed the restaurant, they denied it, but I am certain that the takeout made both my husband and me sick. Other than that the ambience and services were good.

Food tastes so good... like proper Indian food, not just the highly-coconutty stuff you get in many indian places. They also offer you choice of spice level.

It was a hidden gem and truly Indian food! I was looking for something authentic Indian for my husband's birthday and just took a chance. We really enjoyed the dinner and my husband was very happy. The restaurant gave us complimentary drinks as well when they came to know we were celebrating my husband's birthday

Having read the reviews we were really looking forward to eating here. Unfortunately we were left disappointed. This was mainly due to poor basics! Burnt poppadums, and a very poor pickle tray. Mains, a fish curry that was more akin to a soup, tuna steak overpowered by spices and drowning in liquid. Lamb Rogan Josh that was far to oily, though to be fair, nicely flavoured. Again though, one of the basics of a restaurant surely is cutlery? Food served to us and then having to ask for something to eat it with is not worthy of 4 stars, let alone 5.

Despite repeated visits to this South Indian restaurant, the inconsistency in food quality and taste remains a persistent issue. The fish mappas and fish mollie consistently have a strong raw fishy smell, which is highly unappetizing. The beef dishes are often overcooked and lack the expected beef flavor. A recent incident involving an orange juice smelling of raw onion (when I informed them they have been told they made the juice in a jar where they made a pineapple juice before ) due to cross-contamination with pineapple juice was particularly concerning and highlights a disregard for food safety standards. Additionally, the porotta lacks freshness, and the soup tastes (hot and sour chicken soup)different on each visit. Overall, the lack of consistency and attention to detail has left me thoroughly disappointed with this restaurant.

Had an amazing meal at this place last night, the food was incredible and the staff were great. I can’t recommend this place highly enough if you want southern Indian food.

Came to Yarmouth for getaway, decided to go for a "curry" takeaway. Worst decision ever. Bones in my chicken, nearly broke my teeth. Asked for no spice and they added a ton, I really didn't enjoy the food at all it didn't taste like any curry I knew of, oil was floating to the top of the sauce. Ended up throwing it away, me and my partner were not very happy at all. To top that off, it poisoned my stomach as I was left with severe stomach cramps and visits to the toilet constantly. We had good service but we ordered a curry and the curry had a piece of bone inside it and also the curry was really oily almost impossible to eat covered in Grease and had a tangy horrible taste following … smell was quite confusing as well .. a bit of a shame due to all the positive reviews as I eat out a lot at Indians and was well excited :(

They catered for a wedding party of over 100 guests ; the presentation, quality of the food and the taste was absolutely amazing. All the guests were pleased and positively commented on the whole experience as we organised the decorations of the Hall and the Sound Systems through their contact. Would definitely use them again without any hesitation. Thank you Indian Food Club for making an amazing experience for all our guests.

What a great find in the area! Service was awesome and food was great. We had curry, chicken tikka masala, and kerala parota (?)... all tasted really authentic. Definitely, a must try when you're in the area. Would love to visit again!

During our recent holiday in Yarmouth, we set out in the evening in search of excellent Indian cuisine and discovered this restaurant. Our server, Joseph, stood out with his friendly and affable demeanor. We started with Squid Varuval and Cauliflower 65, both of which were so delicious that we ended up ordering them again. Moving on to the mains, we opted for Rogan Josh for the kids, and Lamb Biryani and Vegetable Biryani for myself and my wife. While the biryanis didn't quite meet our expectations of what biryani should taste like, the quality of the rice and meat was excellent and it had a fantastic aroma. I mentioned this to Joseph, who took it in stride. Overall, our experience was fantastic. Despite the Biryanis not hitting the mark, we enjoyed the flavours and atmosphere of the restaurant. We would definitely recommend it for anyone seeking good Indian food in Yarmouth.

The food was very tasty with the good authentic taste with some good spices ,and the waitress was very friendly gonna come again definitely.

Been coming past for a few years and our taxi driver kept saying it was a shop not a restaurant. I’m pleased to say he was wrong and what a fantastic find. The food was exceptional and I have to say the chicken 65 is better than my daughter’s mother in law who is also from South India. The food tasted really fresh and tasty. Great Kerala restaurant in the region, never expected such authentic food in Great Yarmouth. Had dinner here in June vacation and was happy to choose this restaurant. Would definitely recommend and will come again soon. Joseph here did a great service too. Family friendly restaurant and would recommend having Aappam and chicken Stew here.

It's the real deal, superb Southern Indian food - everything is fresh and the dishes have a depth of flavour you only find with skilled chefs who know how to treat spices. What a gem! This small, low-key and understated little place is evidently associated with a spectacularly good asian grocery shop in the same building so expectations on my first visit were high. I have spent much time in Southall and Nairobi so am familiar with real Indian flavours and have little time for the tired, same -old same-old high street 'curry houses' all with the exact same Anglo-Indian menu and all very far from authentic. This one is utterly different - many S Indian dishes which most diners will be unfamiliar with - so try the things you've never heard of - you won't be disappointed. Service was cheerful, helpful and welcoming. No little red chilli pictures against menu items, you are asked how hot you'd like it made... We were bowled over! E Anglia is a desert for real Indian food, I only know of one or two (one a takeaway) that even remotely approach this one - in Britain you'd need to travel to W London or the Midlands cities to find similar. I can't wait to go back.

Can’t fault the waitresses. But the wait was unacceptable! There were 4 of us and only 1 got his full order. After waiting 90 minutes we ended up paying for what we had, which wasn’t a lot, and left! And so did the table behind us! Will never be going there again! Do not recommend!

Recently dined at here and Tried their Thalassery biriyani,the Kerala Porotta and the beef Curry was soo yum!! While the dish was enjoyable, it didn't quite exceed expectations in terms of flavor complexity or uniqueness. However their every bite was a standout, impressing with its rich taste and tender texture. As for starters, the squid varuval and crispy fried veg was flavorful and satisfying, Overall, while the experience was pleasant, it left us craving a bit more excitement in terms of flavors and innovation. We're here again. It's Saturday evening the 23rd march and I'm still saying omg. This is my fourth visit. It's the best Indian food I've ever had. Great Yarmouth people are so lucky to have this gem. We'veceated onion bhaji, Gobi mancheian, utapan, fish moolie, lamb biryani and Indian beer. The food is freshly cooked so expect to wait for it to get cooked! I wrote the review below the last time I was at this amazing restaurant. Tonight with my husband and father in law we enjoyed the best food. All I could keep saying was 'oh my god!" It's worth more than 5 stars. Just had the most amazing meal. It's the real deal, south Indian food, spicy and aromatic. It's keralean food at lunchtime so we had a selection of veg, chicken and fish curries with keralan rice, pickles and poppadoms. Our meal ended with a semolina ball in syrup. Albin gave us great service and the price was very reasonable for such special food.

Just needs a little more emphasis on choice of dessert - kulfi has twice been unavailable on request and this really finishes off a sumptuous coastal cuisine meal off perfectly (in my humble opinion). Best Food ever had, good service and friendly atmosphere

Wow, a newly discovered gem! Not a usual High St curry house but the best food in town in a small cosy corner. Fantastic food unlike most Indian restaurants this is truly tasty and different, friendly staff and possibly the best Indian I've enjoyed. Try here if you love the vibrant flavours of India without the boring kormas or birianis of your usual Indian restaurant. Not one to miss.
