Indian Cottage in North Lanarkshire

We have been loyal customers for 16yrs and by and large the food is excellent. We are in house customers and takeaway customers, however just received a takeaway this evening and it was poor! Mushroom pakora was crunchy and dry (never had it this way before) chicken tikka pakora was salty and dry! Curry was OK but just wonder if our starters were re heated from last night? If so don't order food before 6pm no excuse tbh!

Quality rather than quantity sums up this restaurant, desserts need better presentation especially the freezer. Overall we enjoyed our meal.

Our second visit since re opened and food and service once again was excellent. The buffet choice and quality was lovely and the salad was lovely and fresh. Lovely waitress who even remembered what we had to drink last visit! A lovely cosy restaurant, we will definitely be back soon!

The lamb is the best I have ever tasted in Any restaurant, so tender and tasty. The range of choice in the buffet was excellent and I absolutely loved the choice of nan breads, most Indian restaurants only have plain nan but not this one. Our waitress was lovely and a credit to the restaurant. My daughter loved the good range of vegetarian choices. I can’t wait to go back.

Our party of 9 had booked for last night. First visit there and we were all impressed by the quality of the food. Staff were so helpful and friendly too. Loved the spiced mushrooms starters and the lamb dishes were delicious. Had cobra beer on draft which was excellent. A big thanks to Oz for the indian tea, which was really good. Never tried it before, made with milk, tea, sugar and cloves. A very cosy and informal restaurant and were made to feel very welcome. The price was very competitive and we were all surprised how low the bill was. I would certainly recommend here and we will all be back. Thanks again for a lovely meal.

Had an amazing dinner which was complete with lots of vegetarian options. Some of the vegetarian things were completely different from anything I've had before, which was nice. The vegetables were so fresh even the herbs used in them.

First time at the Indian cottage which is just along the road from us , great food and very friendly staff with excellent value for money , would highly recommend

I found this place almost by accident. I had become disheartened with the two local Indian restaurants I normally use. One takes an eternity to make your order and messes it up almost every time. The other has went right downhill and its curries have become a sloppy mess. They also have a bizarre inability to make a crunchy poppadoms and they are always soft. I tried this restaurant on the recommendation of one of my Asian clients. Couldn’t find much about it online, but the reviews looked good and it was worth the trip. It has recently been refurbished and although a decent size still quite intimate. Really, really friendly staff. Wife adored the pakora and she is a fussy b*gger. The value for money was excellent and I really enjoyed the food. I Will definitely return.

Can't say anything about the food or service as the restaurant was shut at 13:40 on a Thursday afternoon. My Mum and I had to find somewhere else for dinner. A bit disappointed to be honest.

For what you pay for this restaurant, it's the best Indian buffet I've been to. Chicken pakora is fantastic and all the currys were great as well. Staff were very friendly and chatted away as well.

I enjoyed a recent visit for lunch. The food was pretty tasty, there are more to choose from in other buffet places but I was not disappointed. It was very well priced

On the face of it a basic Indian buffet restaurant until it comes to the food and staff. The buffet is small compared to some other restaurants but the food is better. So they do less but what they do is good rather than lots of stuff that all tastes the same. Then there is the staff. Our waiter was keen to see you enjoyed the food and the chief even came out to talk to us, and when he found out I preferred Roti to Nan, he shot back into the kitchen and ,made me Roti.

Was in today, 1st time since it reopened and imo the place is faultless.... Good food, good friendly staff and it don't leave a Dent in your pocket.. Will defo be back 👌

Visited with my work mates. Great food pleasant atmosphere service was great. Being vegan I was delighted when they took the time to tell me what was ok for me to eat. The chef even made me an extra curry as there was only one choice available in the buffet. Only downside is I cant have a sweet.... maybe sorbet as part of your menu and some soya milk for coffee, but all in all a very good place to go for something to eat *****

First time we`ve been to Indian Cottage but we will be back, relaxed atmosphere and the staff were very attentive. The food was excellent and a good choice of different starters and main courses. The staff were all very pleasant and nothing was too much trouble for them, I would recommend it

Volví a casa por primera vez, India después de re-abrir. Nos clientes habituales antes de cerrar. En nuestra primera visita la comida era precioso, pero el servicio era muy pobre. Los platos vacíos de los entrantes estaban todavía en la mesa después de que habíamos terminado nuestro plato principal. El joven que nos atendió cuando llegamos detrás de la zona de bar jugueteo con su teléfono móvil y apenas levantada la cabeza todo el tiempo que estuvimos. Disfrutamos de la comida, pero sin duda piensa dos veces antes de volver, debido a la falta de interacción con el personal. Esta no es la mejor manera de construir su clientela de vuelta!!

This was a great little buffet and carry out. Sadly it shut down in February. The word is the chef went back to India. It is a sad miss to the Wishaw community as the curries were nice and the price good. Its sister restaurant in Motherwell, The Indian Villa, is still trading. Food is also good there too but more expensive and no buffet facility.

very good food I've been here a good few times now and it's always excellent. The food is always excellent and very fresh. Great value for money.

We only stay up the road from this wee restaurant. The food is delicious and it's fantastic value. Drink prices are pricey however this can't be helped, suppose they have to make a profit somewhere. All the staff are lovely, apart from the gent that works there in the afternoon that wasn't so helpful when I came in for lunch with my son in a pram. He suggested I sit near the front door, because I had the pram. My least favourite place to sit while trying to enjoy a meal is while freezing. Despite this member of staff being unhelpful every other member of staff is happy to serve respectfully.The food that is available to delve in to, is delicious. The veg pakora is amazing as is the lamb curry. This venue would not be ideal for a romantic date, but would be suitable for a family meal, or even a small party venue. Keep up the good work guys!

Busy place considering it was a cold snowy night in January.Continues with its high standard of delicious food at rock bottom prices.We always visit when we are in town and the Cottage never fails to deliver.

I've been here a good few times now and it's always excellent. The food is always excellent and very fresh. Great value for money. Does a great pint also.

I am not generally a fan of buffets but this curry house is the exception. Good choice of starters, mains and desserts and they are all tasty and plentiful. The staff are friendly and helpful. My husband and I have eaten here a few times and always go back. Really good value for money in a comfortable and friendly environment.

Have visited a few times. Lunch seems to be a quite time in here however I can't really complain. Starters and mains have always been more than acceptable. I can honestly state that one of the chicken kormas was the best I've tasted, anywhere.Can't comment on evening meals but lunch is keenly priced and descent value.Happy to return.

Have been few times as a family of 4. Was recommended this place after loving their sister restaurant indian villa so much. Went to buffet and was not disappointed. Always bringing out hot fresh food and great choice and range of food to eat. The kids loved all the dessert cakes and ice creams too. A great price for an all you can eat buffet. Would recommend to anyone

I have never had such poor food in an Indian restaurant. It was a lunchtime buffet with a limited choice which in itself should not have been a problem. The pakora was soggy as was the roti, the meat dishes had bright red synthetic looking sauces and looked very unappetising. I chose a chickpea curry which was just about edible but overcooked. I gave the desserts a miss ( some kind of cake) because they were sitting out uncovered. My friends paid the bill and had chosen the restaurant so I did not like to embarrass them by complaining. Had I gone there under any other circumstances, I would have walked out. I believe it was very cheap and it was certainly true in this case that you got what you paid for. Never again

Was here with my son, two grandsons plus a friend on Friday 9th October. As previously stated by other customers there may not be a massive selection at the buffet but the choice of the dishes is perfect and the quality of the food first class. Really nice staff, Excellent food, Unbelievably cheap, Brilliant place (Lamb Masaladar was really good - definitely worth trying. Not really anything there that was'nt good)

This fab wee restaurant isn't in the nicest of locations but don't let that put you off. It's a buffet style restaurant with just a few choices for each course but the food is superb and just the right selection. The restaurant itself is spotless and the staff are very welcoming and helpful. I've been a couple of times and have loved it each time. Definitely worth a visit.

staff here are very nice, everything here is very clean and the food it hot fresh and tasty. The food is part of a buffet, very, very limited choice of starters, pakora, chatt, salad and tikka, no chips, no potato salad or pasta salad. Delicious popular curries for mains. and ice cream or gateaux for dessert. Great meal for a great price. As I said, not the greatest variety but tasty and at a great price. For the prices they are asking, you can't complain.

Back in the area to visit family and had to return to the Indian Cottage. Delighted to see that it was just as good as my previous experience. The lamb desi in particular is delicious.

There is not a lot of choice of food but for less than a fiver it's great value the food is fresh and succulent. The service is very friendly. However it is nearly £3 for a pint of coke which is poured from a two litre bottle and it is luke warm. But I would still recommended this restraunt.

Decent food, particularly the lamb Desi which is a more traditional homes style curry. Good value for money, would revisit. I've paid a lot more for food which was not as good as the food we ate here tonight

Don't usually go to Indian Buffet's but was in a hurry last night and had heard decent things about this place. Dropped in and found the restaurant spotlessly clean and smartly decorated.The food was fresh and tasty and there was a great variety of starters, mains and sides.It was also incredible value at a little over £20 for 2 meals and 2 drinks.

Once a pub, far better as the Indian Cottage. The Restaurant is spacious and customer service is very attentive. You can even get to make your own tea and coffee. Unlike many buffet style Indians within the area, this Restaurant focuses on simplicity. You don't get over laden with choice and what you do get is done very well! My only complaint is like many Indians in the area you don't get traditional Kulfi ice cream or Lassi. Also rather than the standard fair of cakes - the sale of traditional Indian Sweets would certainly set it a part from the rest. Maybe a trip down to the Balti Triangle and Ladypool road is in order. In summary an excellent buffet Restaurant with loads of potential to be the jewel in the crown in Lanarkshire!

our usual restraunt is closed at the minute so we were looking for somewhere fairly local to have Indian buffet. After putting it out there on Facebook we ended up at Indian cottage. A modern looking restaurant with a good friendly welcome. Starters were lovely and topped up before we chose. Limited mains, but all very nice. Afters were cake and ice cream. You get to boil the kettle n make your own coffee which just tickled me. Hubby commented he was missing some fruit to go with his ice cream and was told he should have said n they would have got him some. Got the feeling nothing would have been too much trouble. Will definitely go back. Saturday night buffet with 1 glass of large glass of wine and a soft drink for under £30.

New buffet style restaurant. The menu is not extensive but it is definitely quality over quantity. That said - you would have to be very picky not to have a very good meal. The lamb especially is melt-in-the-mouth. Staff are very professional, pleasant and welcoming and the place is spotlessly clean. A special mention to the young waitress who never stopped, even in quiet periods (it was a Wednesday night) she busied herself cleaning or polishing cutlery. We enjoyed it so much we went back the following Monday.
