Been a good few times and the food is wonderful. True proper Italian unlike many others around (although they are all good, they don't blow you away and Il Cappricio is by far the best). We've tried most things on the menu by now I think and I've never not liked anything. Service is also quick and friendly. The price is brilliant for the high quality of the food. Definitely be back.

I never even knew this place was there until last week. The food was absolutely amazing. I had pasta and pizza it was really good. The wines and beer were also great. The girl serving us was great couldn't be any more helpful. Will be returning 100 percent

Glad to have chosen Il Capriccio for the first restaurant to visit post-lockdown. Called ahead to book a slot to visit due to current distancing measures in place. Continues to serve exceptional pizza and pasta with friendly service. Restaurant is a small space but is able to social distance due to layout of tables. This results in a relaxed atmosphere. Look forward to returning soon.

First time trying and I was not disappointed. Why anyone orders from the likes of Domino’s or Papa Johns when this place exists is beyond me. Will absolutely be having more pizza from here and I can’t wait to sit in!

My husband and I regularly eat out. This restaurant came to our attention following a solid recommendation from a newspaper review and we have eaten here on countless occasions since it opened. We have never been disappointed. It an excellent Italian trattoria run by Italians. Standards never fail. If you want a genuine Italian experience, I highly recommend this restaurant. Fabulous Tuesday Treat, staff very welcoming & friendly throughout.We opted for a Hawaiian pizza & an Il Capriccio pizza - both freshly stretched pizza dough, ample toppings & just right amount of cheese to sauce. 2 optional sides, wonderful crispy fries & an insalata mista, washed down with 2 glasses of wine & change out of £30.00There’s a deal if there was one..

I visit this restaurant quite often with my wife - we have always had the best of service, the tastiest of food, and just a lovely night out. Fast order-taking from Michela, who is just the best at multi-tasking, food always ready within a very short time, and always delicious!. Got to be one of the best dining experiences in Hamilton. 5 stars all round!

Brilliant little place outstanding Food and excellent Staff

Terrific little trattoria. Despite its size, this little family run restaurant delivers food that blows away most of its larger and more expensive rivals. Family are all very friendly from Dad in the kitchen to daughter and son front of house. Prawn and lobster pastas are particarly tasty, whole the pizzas are a bit special too. Just one request.... why no homemade tiramisu?

What a great variety of freshly prepared food this restaurant has to offer. I just can't resist the friturra mista - mixed fried fish/seafood - magnificent. Great pizza, pasta and super sized portions too. My friend had the stroganoff - it was fabulous.

I recently went to Il Capriccio for the first time with my friend. We had an amazing lunch, a lovely atmosphere and service was impeccable. Would definitely recommend! Next time I will be trying the desserts

Been meaning to try this place for ages, first time was take away. Great looking little family run place. The wonderful garlic smell is to die for when you walk in the door. Ordered two Pizza's, traditional and calzone.....both were perfect Also ordered a side salad to accompant Pizzas. Everything was freshly made, hot and extremely tasty. Next visit will be sit in, but based upon Take-away, we will not be disappointed.

The 4 of us were sat down with no problems, no dead bugs anywhere. Our drinks order was taken straight away with a smile and joke from the waitress, even an Italian lesson. Drinks came and then our food order was taken. Food was absolutely amazing, not a single complaint. Everything was perfect, from the food to the staff. Only one negative experience was a woman kept complaining, clearly in it for a free meal. 10 out of 10 would be back again.

Well where do l start passed this cafe a few times but never went in and eventually thought l would give it a go. We hadn't booked and went in about 8pm giving us an hour and a half before closing time to eat our food.we were approached by a waitress whom l roundabout later was the owner she seemed rushed and harassed and sat us down quickly at a booth table near a window.l then asked to move to another seat as my back was sire at benches seat she reluctantly moved us even though their was a few spare tables .we sat down and l noticed a few flies about one dead on the seat beside me .l used my table napkin to swipe it on the floor.l then asked the waitress for another napkin and she said you've got one l said it was on the seat as l had to swipe a dead fly. She gave me another napkin. We asked to taste the house red and she came over with two large fish bowl sized glasses and a bottle of house red with the cork stuck in like it had already been previously open she poured out a large amount of wine into each glass.we never got our taster. Not fine dining here we said nothing.we put our order in and then l went to the toilet facilities where the toilet button was part broken and toilet got blocked .the water in sink for hands was blocked too.l went back to my seat in the restaurant and another table came in and hit served their starters before me l waited ages for starter a foccaccia which came hard and burned.then the mains came cold and very salty.and portions were so small served in rustic bowls.l complained about my food and the waitress grabbed the bowls and took them back .my partners pasta was meantime getting cold his wasnot cold like mine. My pasta came back half cooked not even altenti l sent it back.then the waitress came back and started shouting st me aggressively about me complaining and l was so upset l was in tears .this restaurant is small and intimate so you can imagine my embarrassment everyone looking at me l was going to walk out.but decided to stay as do hungry by this time.the waitress took my pasta back and chef made another one which was ok.this restaurant is of a very low standard of service never experienced anything like it waitress aggressive and bad mannered with no consideration for customers requests.dont ho here it was awful. Noticed she was super nice to visiting regulars and family but horrible to us .

This is a small pizzeria (father + daughter operation) but the variety of choices on the menu are excellent. Pizzas are great and authentic Napolitano. In what can be a busy restaurant, Michela is very effective front of house. Scallop ravioli in squid ink pasta was a must try. Will be back soon.

Best pizza i have tasted outside of Italy. Pasta dishes tasty too. The Prosecco is lovely and the waitress hard working and friendly. This wee eatery will be a regular on our list for years to come. My only regret is that we didn’t find it sooner.

Eaten here a few times and have never been disappointed and this visit was no exception. A very welcoming atmosphere any time we visit. Food is freshly cooked to order and I usually try half pizza half pasta as I can never whittle my selection down to just one thing. Michaela the waitress is just lovely and very helpful.

This was our very first visit to this excellent wee find in Hamilton. The food was second to none and the service from Michela was exceptional!! She made us very welcome from start to finish and very quickly was providing us with bespoke gin cocktails that went down a treat!! The food was wow! I had the calamari fritta which were lovely with a light batter served with garlic aioli!! My main was a white pizza with Italian sausage!! The pizza dough was deliciously light and had a beautiful flavour from the pizza oven which I believe must have been wood fired!! All my friends thoroughly enjoyed their meals too which varied from calzone, carbonara and ametricana!! Will definitely be back! Keep up the good work xx

Visited recently and have to say I was extremely dissapointed. I'm certain the lasagne was from a packet with extra cheese placed on top. Think I'll try the EK restaurant instead. Won't be back anytime soon.

Family of 4 Mother's Day brunch. Groupon deal which was great value. Pizza delightful and pasta also hit the mark. Glass of red / rose with deal and of decent quality. Staff friendly and helpful in this small but cosy venue. Great and will return

Visited here recently after a fantastic experience at the new restaurant in East Kilbride. Wish I hadn't bothered. I have never met a ruder, ignorant, more dour waitress in a long time. Menus were BANGED down on the table, not a word from the waitress and I wanted to leave but my other half said to give it a chance after our previous great meal in EK. Waste of money, minestrone was a weak stock with some almost raw cubes of veg that I suspect was an Asda soup pack, the carbonara was average and the penne arrabiata was watery and I couldn't find any trace of a chilli. The food was poor but the service was appalling, continue to treat customers like this then there'll no doubt be another empty unit in Hamilton.

Lunchtime visit with my husband. The waitress who reluctantly greeted us seemed very unhappy, but let’s try it out as the menu looks great. The smile from the waitress unfortunately was no where to be seen!!! I’m giving this 3 stars just because the food was good, and the chef did have a smile on his face. Sack the waitress and you will get a 5 star next time x

We visited the restaurant using a Groupon voucher which was 2 main courses and wine. We paid extra to have starters which was bruchetta and breaded mushrooms which were lovely and for main my OH had a seafood linguini whilst I had a veggie pizza, both freshly cooked and delicious.

I have ordered in the past but was disappointed this evening the pizza was cold and had to heat up in the oven. Also the pizza had what looked like red cheddar cheese was not what we have had in the past and due to the food tonight will not be ordering again.

The quality of food is very inconsistent. Sometimes it’s amazing (which is why we keep coming back) but sometimes it’s really poor and just not worth the money.

Charming service and excellent food surprised us at what from the outside looks like little more than a café. We've walked by so often and finally decided to try it out. The food was fresh and delicious. Excellent choice of wines and a very reasonable bill. It may have taken us a while to try it but we will definitely be back soon!

Have been to Il Capriccio's several times this year alone and every time it does not dissapoint! Exceptional food and such friendly service from the family who run it! So glad this wee gem is in Hamilton. Hands down it beats the other local Italian restaurants!

Arrabiata with no chillies despite asking for additional chilles in the dish - no hint of flavour of chillies in sauce never mind evidence of bono fide chillies - tasted like packet pasta with tinned tomatoes poured over.. Partners pizza sparse in topping. Most annoyingly as waitress happy to ask if starter ok which we both shared and enjoyed but avoided even lifting our main course plates as I had left 80 percent of my meal and only when I put my jacket on and lifted my bag did she approach us to ask if we wanted anything else and didn’t even query the almost uneaten meal. Will never be back - best avoided if you can’t even put together an arrabiata sauce

Absolutely great food, we had pizza and lasagne. Both was outstanding! Actually authentic Italian food! Even the Espresso was first class! Absolutely recommendable!

We have been here a few times in the past year and really enjoyed the food but our recent visit was not a great experience . After been seated and ordering our drinks / dinner , something happened in the ladies bathroom I am assuming an overflowing toilet or pipe - the chef was in and out over a twenty minute period and the floor kept being mopped up with blue roll . They then locked the ladies toilet which was not opened again before we left . My husband used the men’s toilet and the floor was really wet. Our food took about an hour to be served , when when it arrived my daughters penne arrabbiata was undercooked , she had eaten 3-4 forkfulls before I and my husband tried it then sent it back - the girl apologised and took it away . We didn’t ask for a replacement as she was put off eating it. When we asked for the bill the younger chef/ waiter came over and asked about the pasta and I explained it was undercooked and he kept insisting it was Al Dente , we have eaten Italian for years and know the difference between Al Dente and undercooked , quite patronising. My husband paid the bill ( they did charge us for the undercooked pasta) and needless to say we will not be going back , which is a shame as we previously enjoyed eating here. Poor service and food on this visit .

One of best pizza i ever had in Scotland,and i do like to try as many places i can. Definitely better than over rated paesano. I strongly recommend to anyone,staff is friendly and prices are fair for quality. Keep up good work,will definietly visit again

9 of us ate here today (4th Aug'18) after a family day out and having heard good things. Great service, very accommodating of our large unannounced group, and great at dealing with the kids in our group. The best part though was the pizza. Easily the best I've had in a long time and the best in the area by a country mile. Highly recommended!

We have visited a few times for both sit-in and take-away. The food is authentic and is consistently good. We take our young son and the staff are so accommodating. Really great place for casual dining.

Food was ready when ordered, and the pizza/calzone combo was ok. Mixed antipasti was very disappointing: a couple of bit of prosciutto, 2 olives, some cheese and ham on bread, and various little bits of cheese + 2 listless arancini. Very disappointing for an antipasti for 2. Pasta was ok, nothing special but a decent portion. Won't be rushing back, especially at the price (the above was £37).

Il Capriccio is a family-owned authentic Italian cafe/restaurant in Hamilton, South Lanarkshire and serves exquisite freshly prepared pastas and pizzas which are melt-in-the-mouth. I’d recommend the Rosemary focaccia with olive oil and balsamic vinegar as a starter followed by the Lobster Ravioli accompanied the the ice cold Menabrea lager. But the choices are many and varied and the father and sons owners make you feel very welcome and take time to make your visit special. We’ll be back very soon. Thanks guys. Fergie

This restaurant could be described as "compact and bijoux" in size but the welcome and the quality food are fantastic. A light lunch for 3 of us comprised Pizza Salsiccia, with Italian Sausage, Pizza Zia Carmela with ham and mushrooms and a Spaghetti Carbonara. Everything is freshly cooked and arrives "steaming hot". The presentation is good with the fresh ingredients, and care involved in making the food, clearly evident. The pizza dough base, unlike many we have eaten over the years, was light and had a genuine flavour to it which is fantastic, as all too often, this can be completely tasteless. The toppings were high quality and the spaghetti nicely presented and exceptionally creamy. Portion size is good too. One of the party had Chocolate Cake, which was nicely served again and was delicious. Soft drinks and water completed the order. We had booked a table for 1.30 pm and were glad we did, even although it was a weekday. Service is good, the atmosphere relaxed and the bill of around £75 was reasonable too. We would recommend this restaurant and would definitely return. We would also recommend booking at busy times and for evening meals to avoid disappointment.

Popped in today to get a light lunch as a take away. Ordered arancini for two, restaurant was quiet (I had popped in at 4pm) and only had to wait 10 minutes for my freshly made piping hot lunch to be ready. I have had many different types of arancini and this was by far the best I have ever had outside of Italy. I am already looking forward to going back and trying more from their menu.

Quiet when we went in but busy when we left which shows how good it is . We had half pizza half pasta and drinks. Freshly cooked in front of us and delicious. Visited Il Cappricio's on many occasions for casual dinners/birthdays/takeaways and it is outstanding! Very reasonably priced and deserves more recognition for its truly authentic and fantastic Italian food. All the ingredients are fresh, simple and delicious. My fav has to be the Paccheri Alla Salsiccia.

The quality of the food, wine and service at il Capriccio is of the highest standard.

Christmas Eve lunch, 5 kids and 10 adults would be the true test of any restaurant’s food and service so off we went to Il Capricco. To say that a great time was had by all was an understatement. Our waiter, Paolo, very cleverly served the kids first which resulted in happy kids therefore happy parents. I have to say going in a bigger group meant that I got to try so many dishes which made me very, very happy too. Starters of bruschetta, arancini, mozerella and focaccia were a delight. The bruschetta had crisp bread with the most delicious tasting tomatoes. The signs of truly freshly prepared food were all there, crisps bread and firm tomatoes, definitely not prepared hours ago and left sitting. The main courses were all fabulous too had a sample of the turkey Christmas dinner, saltimbucca, chicken cacciatore, penne amartricana but the star of the show was the salssicia pasta. I know I look like I’m really greedy but it was too good an opportunity to miss. Finished off with the Nutella cheesecake which was a light as a feather. This is truly fabulous Italian cooking that’s as it should be , fresh ingredients, family recipes and served with a smile. I’m most certainly going back caused I only got try only slice of the amazing , yes it really is , pizza. Try this and you’ll never eat a pizza from any of those other chains again. We recently visited this restaurant for a family birthday dinner, it was my first time there, and I was very impressed. We were a large party over two tables, and the service was very good. Speaking for myself, I thoroughly enjoyed my meal, and by all accounts everyone else did too. One friend thought her pizza was the best she ever had! The pricing was very reasonable for food and wine, and I would recommend to anyone.........

We had a lovely family meal on my husbands birthday. Everyone enjoyed the food and the staff are very friendly. We have been to this restaurant many times and are never disappointed.

Esta bastante pequeño restaurante italiano local tiene muchos clientes que hablar de devoto. Mi esposa y yo no somos grandes "italiano" sino simplemente fuimos en ventiladores para un café y para observar. Hay un buen menú del almuerzo durante la semana y los precios son buenos. Los fines de semana y por la noche hay una opción mucho más amplia. Los cargos parecen razonables y las bebidas no son caras. Nos dieron una buena taza de café fuerte (americano). Estaba claro de otros comensales que estaban disfrutando de la experiencia. Consejo: si vas a cenar es probablemente mejor reservar como las instalaciones son bastante pequeñas.
