IKEA, Nottingham in Gedling

My friend and I went around ikea shopping for various items, and it's very rare not to have our children. So we agreed to have lunch in the ikea cafe, meatballs, mash and gravey & fish and chips. The food was cold, the fish was dry and soggy batter it had a weird taste. If you want coffee, if you want anything other than a standard coffee, expect to pay an extra £1 at the machine, which is a total rip-off that you pay for rubbish overpriced less than substandard food at least let us have a decent coffee. Also, the deserts in the fridge are all open on side plates. I stood and watched so many people touch other plates and lean over cakes with dirty clothing to reach the back of the fridge. This is a massive hygiene risk, and it's a massive no! It should be covered up, and other deserts should be protected from other peoples hands. I won't be eating again at ikea has its worse than a school canteen. Disgusting!!

You know what you’re getting with IKEA! Set out like a school canteen, you can’t moan at £5.95 for 12 delicious meatballs, mash, peas and gravy. Unfortunately you pay extra for a drink but there is free water on tap. At these prices you’re getting a bargain before the dreaded shop!

Food are good ! Only problem is the restaurant staffs too lazy. Dirty seats area , no staffs to clean the used table and floor within hour…

Ate at IKEA Restaurant when we were at Giltbrook Retail Park. We had fish and chips, cutlet and rice, and Swedish meat balls, and paid for drinks as well. Other than the meat balls, the quality of the food is mediocre. The lady at the cashier is less than friendly / cheerful too.

The food in the past has always been ok, I had the fish n chips which was pleasant enough, in the past we have ended our meal with fresh coffee, so we took our mugs and went through the checkout. When it came to getting the coffee we discovered that one of our mugs was dirty. That was replaced, and when we went to get our drink there was no fresh coffee. Upon bringing this to the attention of staff we were offered a little sachet as a replacement which we declined as we originally under the impression we were getting fresh coffee. The restaurant should have made sure that the coffee situation was made clear at time of purchase.

Been some time ago but today found that the prices have gone up a lot, probably more than inflation. Toast especially highly priced, can buy a loaf for the cost of one slice. Wont be going again

Food is usually cold by the time you've gone through the checkout,and then que again to get coffee ect. It's cheap,and you get what you pay for,I had bacon &sausage sandwich.. .10p extra for a cube of butter/margarine.needed 4. On each. think that's quiet unfair. Because the cobs are and were very dry. I went because for some reason my neice likes it there. But I'll try to persuade her to go Greg's or Macdonald's.one possitive it was clean and the toilets were clean too.

Peas were cold, chips lukewarm, meatballs weren’t piping hot but ok. The sauce was not as nice as I rennet it, not as smooth and jam was out of stock. There was only one person in front of me at till so can’t blame temperature of food on queuing

Who loves IKEA 🙋🏻‍♀️ There are so many interesting & useful things, most of them are 💰low prices... By comparing the quality,, we think IKEA is better than Argos...🤔 Also , we only want the simple design so IKEA definitely fulfills our need... In addition to buying a coffee table,,, and some “USEFUL” stuffs 😆 we also tried the IKEA cafe,, that is my first time to try their fresh food 🍽 Love their Meatball with chips & Cakes !!

Monday 30th early afternoon. Trays are filthy, had to shuffle through to find one relatively clean. Server great, Till operative great, try and find clean cutlery, then greatest challenge to find a clean table. Come on IKEA, please pay a person to clean

Was looking forward to the meatballs with jam, gravy peas and mash. What a disappointment. Queue eextremely slow. Meatballs were plated great but then it went downhill mash slopped onto plate ( half the portion of the people in front and behind me) a few peas and hardly any gravy. Apparently NO jam in stock. And for the grand price of 5.95! No knifes, and limited cutlery, meat balls warm, just.. Next time I will eat elsewhere

I went with a friend for an ikea breakfast prior to a shopping trip. The small breakfast is big enough for me but my friend had the standard size which is, basically, two of everything. We had unlimited tea and coffee. Also on offer is toast and various baked goods.

I eat the veggie option with the scrmbled eggs, veggie sausages, mushrooms, sliced tomato, grenerious hash browns and beans for £3. includes all the tea and coffee you can drink if you have a family card. 2 slices of toast are 40p more. There is a meat option for £3.50. See you there.

Visited your restaurant today for breakfast amazing as always. served by (Abbie) very polite and friendly. Got to the till to be greated with a very big smile and friendly hello how are you today from the lady on the till (Anne) .someday the just what you want to start your day off on the right foot .our meals were great value & delicious .

Extremely small and hard chips, vegetarian hotdog was dry and tasteless. Prices may be cheap but waste of money. Refillable drinks aren’t much better.

We enjoyed tasty vegetarian and non vegetarian breakfasts. Bacon beautifully cooked and omelette fluffy. Supervising, cashier staff and service staff responsive and friendly.

Very tasty and good value for money but service can be very slow at times. Go for breakfast on a Sunday before the main store opens is a must do

We had some things to buy at Nottingham IKEA, and - on the spur of the moment - decided to treat ourselves to a couple of bacon rolls in the newly-refurbished restaurant. The food was very nice - but the hygiene standards were lamentable. Dirty cutlery, dirty plates. Then questionable table surfaces - and disgustingly sticky filth on the underneath of the tables! OK, so you wouldn't normally touch the underneath of the tables, but my wife unfortunately did! Ugh! IKEA - you really have to up your game on hygiene! (A friend of mine and his pregnant wife went to IKEA on another occasion recently; they both had salmon - and spent the next 24 hours with diarrhea and vomiting. Coincidence? I cannot say.)

I visited ikeas restaurant tonight with my sister and the kids. The staff were amazing, the lady that served us at the till (Gail) was so lovely and the lady serving the food (Jackie) couldn’t do enough for us. We had the lamb which is amazing. The chefs really care about what they are cooking and it shows. It really cheered us up how nice everyone was. Thank you x

Went into IKEA restaurant for meatball meal. Very tasty as always. Nice to sit and eat after wandering around the store. Friendly staff as always.

After a walk around part of Ikea it was lovely to have the big, light and spacious restaurant in the middle serving all sorts of delicious food which we will sample next time, we had daim cake which was Lush and a drink. Will visit again soon

A friend recommendation to this once a year “Crayfish party” in which Ikea present. I thought I’ll give it a go. Unfortunately food wasn’t my cup of tea......the atmosphere was great, really lively and cheerful + the “famous meatballs” was fab, apart from that I honestly couldn’t recommend unfortunately

Clean, tidy and comfortable. Convenient system once you get the hang of it. Meat balls and mash fantastic but my fish, chips and peas were disappointing. (luke warm) Good coffee. We`d go again.

I have noticed since the refurb of the restaurant that every meal i have had is definately not hot, warm but not at a comfortable heat to eat. Not sure wether the problem is with the hotplates or caused by standing in the queue waiting to pay, it seems a much longer wait now. I hope the problem can be resolved before parents start complaining at the number of people heating their meals in the microwave provided for them to heat baby food.

Ok perhaps I didn’t come with high expectations but found the restaurant smart, clean, light and spacious- and as with all the employees - very welcoming and friendly.

food was excellent. Childs meal brilliant. Pecan muffin fab. Would recommend to young family's who just need a quick and cheerful meal

My friend and I met here for lunch as it’s convenient for both of us to travel and get parked. I can’t visit here without having the meatballs!!! The service is friendly and the food always tasty. The princess cake I think it’s called is amazing too.

It's good for a cuppa and snack before you launch yourself around IKEA. If you're hungry before you leave there's always the famous meat balls, along with other meals.

Visited the restaurant meals was not very warm sweet potato fries burnt up tried use microwave very complicated gave up managed eat most of the meals as was hungry wouldn’t purchase meals again very disappointed

called for lunch yesterday after looking round the showroom which is very nice.however our lunches [which were three different meals]were all just warm.my wife had meatballs,chipsand peas just warm on a cold plate.my mother-in-law had a bowl of soup-hardly warm,i had fish chips and peas which were just warm on a cold plate.terrible.never again. the cups of tea were hot.

Been to Ikea many times over the years but today Tuesday 30th April 2019 is the first time been in the restaurant. We were prompted by our daughter who was with us and grandson aged 2 . very spacious and very modern, was busy but no problem getting a seat. Good choice of food.

There is always a queue for food and the staff aren't the fastest at serving but that aside the fish and meat ball dishes are always tasty and warm. It's a very cheap feed in clean self clear away restaurant.

Staff were very helpful, they had a nice selection of children's lunches and cake and adult meals. good idea of re-fill able coffee and drinks. Would reco9mend for a light lunch

It’s a while since I visited Ikea and things ahave changed somewhat, different layouts, easier to see, I enjoyed the visit it was as usual interesting and fun. This is the first Time however I have been in the restaurant, amazing value and if you are a family member you get a free cup of tea or coffee, I found the way of serving a cappuccino or a latte however , most odd, you get a cup and a token ( on this occasion the person on the till forgot to give me one!) I had no idea what to do, so slightly underwhelmed, but once this was sorted, the food was really lovely and the price amazing, and the tray conveyor belt so much fun at the end! I Love Ikea!

Its ok but the 'pay for a cup and serve yourself for hot drinks' is a bit odd, especially when one or more machines isn't working. It's nothing special and there are other eateries on this huge site.

We called in to wander around the new IKEA layout. It's not all finished yet but much bigger than before, easy to lose your bearings. Started with a morning cuppa in the new spacious restaurant, free to card holders.

Now that they have had a refurb it is so much better staff are friendly and food tastes but please start the vegan food already

Never been to Ikea for breakfast before, so decided to give it a try. It was lovely. The new cafe is bright and lots of seating. Even a little play area. Ive ordered my family card, and will be going back. I was over charged by 50p so i will be checking my items better next time.

Cheap breakfast, served piping hot, and does the job before walking round the store. Various choices and feels a little like airline food, but Ive had a lot worse. Free refills on tea, coffee, soft drinks so excellent value.

The IKEA restaurant always amuses me; the quality of food is average - that's not to be critical, as it is mass-produced canteen food for the hungry shoppers, but I'm not sure I can think of anywhere else where you will witness such long queues and jostling for tables for this satisfactory fayre. Our little boys like the fish and chips, plus the free fruit you get with a kids meal. There was also some sort of stew, quite nice, and a reasonable leek and potato soup. It is not too expensive, and taste wise is okay - it does the job, without being anything special. I would like the food to be warmer though - I was tempted to make use of the microwave available for warming baby food!

Great for a quick bite to eat while picking up another billy bookcase.... good price and service, little bit like being back at school though. If you skip the restaurant grab a hotdog 👍

........likes an occasional trip to IKEA, just to wander round and buy an occasional knickknack. I get to drive her there and then she parks me in the restaurant with a full cooked breakfast and coffee, after which I read my book. Lovely.

I've never really seen the appeal of IKEA food, but after the suggestion of a breakfast to kick the day off after a night out, my interest was piqued. I can honestly say I wasn't disappointed. In comparison to a weatherspoons breakfast which, whilst without a doubt the best hangover cure, shares the texture of a plastic cutlery set, IKEA's breakfast closely resembled food and had some flavour to it. For the price I could not complain. I was even able to switch out the beans for some extra tomatoes thanks to the pleasant server.

Only called for a cuppa, store getting bigger and better by the day. Restaurant a lot bigger. Black coffee and apple pie. Coffee not as good as usual but apple pie lovely. Will go again.

Went to get bedroom decoration inspiration. You cannot go to ikea and not have a snack. It is so cheap and the food is always good and child friendly. The restaurant has recently been over hauled and was efficient fast service and very clean.

Ikea restaurant has various meals evry day. Well cooked and with various sidings. Loved the Indian cousine and the kids meal. The meatballs are always fresh and tasteful! Every time I go to Ikea, I indulge myself to a good meal!. Really love eating there. Cheers!

What can you say about an IKEA restaurant? We all know what to expect, queues, meatballs, self-service, lukewarm food - but at a good price that means we go back despite never feeling really satisfied.

My daughter loves the food when we visit Ikea and the refils it's cheap and cheerful, I'm not keen on the food but wen we go with in-laws they enjoy it, I'm just the odd 1 out that thinks it's awful

Tables not clean and drinking out of paper cups not good, told it was because of alterations, no reduction

Since the store is going through a refurb any inconvenience can be allowed wrt set-up, working etc, I need a drink after spending god knows how long waiting for my daughter pre-uni shopping, quick service by well trained staff, well worth apit stop.

Very busy Tuesday morning (school holidays) and exacerbated by the ongoing refurbishment works. Cheap & cheerful as ever. No haute cuisine here, but very cheap coffee!

I visited the restaurant recently and as they are currently refurbishing the queues to the restaurant were long and there was very little natural light. After the meal with the family and a long walk through the Ikea store felt very ill and needed fresh air. Would not recommend until the restaurant is completed. Needs more natural light air conditioning and less lighting as there is no oxygen.

I know it’s only chips, but how can a store like Ikea decide not to either sell chips in its restaurant (but do so at the cafe at the tills) and serve only hot drinks unless you want to buy water £1.10 or cans of coke! I thought Ikea was all about introducing Sweden to its shoppers. Oh you can get the soft drinks at the cafe. Very poor. I know you are remodelling but surely you don’t need 3 coffee machines!

Wow feel so sorry for the staff whilst the building work is going on. Breakfast was fine, we were last in the queue so had ran out of beans and toast.

At these prices, you wouldn’t expect restaurant quality food, which is good because you don’t get it. However what you do get is a value for money meal. Not exactly made with love, but with average quality ingredients at a low price. To be fair, I’ve had much worse food at motor way service stations for 4x the price.

Popped in for a mirror and sampled the breakfast whilst in store. The breakfast is made fresh and hot minute by minute. If you have an Ikea Family card a 10 item breakfast includes tea/coffee for only £2.50. Exceptional value and tasty!

Just called in for a quick visit. In spite of all of the work going on restaurant keeps going very well. Couldn’t get WiFi to work. Free tea and coffee made up for it. Will go again

love the ikea..and was excited to see it here .was impressed with its new look .very well established. for people like me was excited to use the scooter .was much easier to go to each and every corner.

Went to IKEA for something specific. Which was in stock and brought home with us. Stopped off at the restaurant mid flow in shopping. Great restaurant, wonderfully clean and expertly priced. Only had a coffee and a cheese sandwich, but couldn't get over how clean this restaurant was, to the tables, floors and trays. IKEA restaurant makes the normal high street restaurants look extremely poor in comparison. Well done to you and your friendly staff. Ps...... The toilets in main reception..... Are out of this world, first toilets I've been in which don't smell like toilets. Keep up the hard work IKEA

We are here today and the place is going through a revamp. No chips on offer, long queues and slow service with cold food. Usually I love the meat ball and chips meal but sloppy and cold and only offering cans of coke. Save your pennies and eat elsewhere until Ikea kitchen is up and running.

Lost count how many times we've been here, whether it be for breakfast or lunch, always great food and value, I love the meatballs and gravy, followed by the daim cake. Staff are very friendly too.

Took the kids whilst waiting for the store to open properly for breakfast, and must say that I was surprised at the value. Not a lot of choice, but they certainly move through the queues because of this. Would advise to get an Ikea family card as it knocks a few quid off the already cheap price. Worth a visit!

Everyone expects Bank holiday Monday to be busy but having battled the traffic cued for 2 mile tale back and met every are hole out in the car park, felt an achievement to actually get to trolley park.

We had looked round the shop but decided to stop off at the cafe. Me and my partner only shared a desert. We had the daim cheesecake but it was the best cheesecake we’ve had!

More like a works canteen than a restaurant but its cheap, and reasonable food. Still busy even in the week so all a little chaotic for breakfast but set us up for the day.

Ok, so there are major changes in progress, I get it, but 4 toilets not working, toilet doors not locking etc? At least try to get something right.

Visited today will not be going there again until improvements finished. Hopefully trolleys will be placed at main entrance rather than half way round, also restaurant has clearer instructions 're coffee dispensing and some staff have better attitudes towards customers. Was worst visit ever.

Went to IKEA Nottingham today. Temporary restaurant is awful, limited menu and so busy our food was stone cold by the time we had paid and found a seat. Wont go again until the refurbishment is complete

We have been occasional visitors to the Nottingham Ikea store for years so we really should welcome the extension and refurbishment that is going on at the moment.

We went at the weekend, expecting it to be busy but not expecting the refurbishment.

We had lunch in the new Sheffield IKEA. The queue was fairly short...but we were kept waiting for quite a while....only one girl serving our queue and she was also frying chips and replenishing two serveries...going backwards and forwards. When we were finally served..we joined the checkout queue and the service here was so slow...by the time we had paid,our food was luke warm and not enjoyable.... very disappointing.

After an morning shopping we decided to have a meal at IKEA. It was very busy as always,we have only been once before.

Travelled to Ikea to try the highly recommended meatballs in the restaurant. We were very disappointed - they were bland and with a cold gravy. Certainly not worth the hype!

I am surprised to find we stopped here for food on the way back from the airport. Thing is it is cheapish quick and consistent. Meatballs and daime cake of course. As clean and quiet as a mcdonalds but with crockery and free refills.

Had a quick snack here whilst shopping. Hot chocolate, re fillable soft drink and two cakes. Cakes were very good (particularly the toffee one) as was the hot chocolate. I personally didn’t like the lemonade - they’ve cut out sugar and as I don’t like the taste of artificially sweetened soft drinks it’s wasn’t one for me. But as it was re fillable I could have another one, and the pear drink was very nice. Service with a smile as well and the other more substantial food looked good , although not a huge number of options. Would we come back - yes definitely. We’d had lunch at a nearby chain Italian and wished we’d come here instead.

Great for a pit-stop whilst shopping. The food is great value and very tasty, meatballs/veggie balls and chips are a winner! Gets very busy around lunchtimes especially at the weekends so be quick to get a table!

Visited the cafe first before shopping and went to go for breakfast, as we got to the queue a rude staff member pulled a bar infront of us and shouted this side is closed, even before we managed to get in the queue. Very disappointed as it was still morning time.

Me and my partner had the two full breakfasts. For the money it was good. Bargain breakfast standard quality

Quite busy for mid morning on a Friday. Not surprising though as the breakfast is delicious and such good value, especially if you have a family card. Free tea or coffee. Nice way to fill up your tank before you shop till you drop!

IKEA was the second of four shopping 'jobs' set for us today, so lunch became essential. We have used this restaurant for many years and have never been disappointed. Busy today due to many student 'families' organising themselves, the restaurant coped reasonably well. Both serving sides were available, food arrived constantly that had been freshly cooked - not standing around. More dishes were on offer today, when a broad menu was already available before. We tried two new dishes - chicken tikka and the pumpkin / beetroot / brie flan - oh boy was that so good. Fresh salad available for all dishes if required although this is part of the flan dish. Drinks systems at the machines worked smoothly too. Using the family card led to a reduction in costs, always a bonus.All mobility needs have been met, hygiene is at top standard, toilets are nearby. We will visit this again I am sure but this restaurant is fully recommended for all. Tables are reserved for those with limited mobility and children are catered for well too.

Very busy - superb, freshly-cooked breakfast and excellent value. The checkout tills should be fully-manned to clear queues quicker, though.
