I came all the way from Hertfordshire to try this Japanese restaurant. I never regret the hours of travel. The Salmon teriyaki was so divine with the ikanji sautéed potato on the side. So many options from the menu which is worth the price. Surely a must try!

Placed and ordered for some sushi. Received something completely different. Got told the Chef definitely did it right and if I wasn’t happy just to request a refund. No offer to re deliver the correct item.

Appalling service. Ordered food for takeaway, they accepted the order and even sent a note confirming the delivery time. Then, at the time they were supposed to deliver, they cancelled it leaving us hungry and having to go somewhere else.

Was a little bit late but did not disappoint! Mainly ordered sushi and it was fresh and delicious. Will be ordering again as prices are not bad either!

Nipped in when I couldn’t face another fast food burger, and wow another gem in Weston Super Mare, friendly staff, and tasty food at reasonable prices. I had a small warm sake, Tori Teriyaki chicken ( very nice), a cider and then oh my the nicest cheesecake- a green tea one! Soooo yummy and smooth

Food unbelievable delicious so yummy &testy ,from starter,main course very 👌👌👌 this Japanese restaurant good value of money, staff are so professional & friendly 😃😃 faces, The place very clean,hygiene & well mainten. music very relaxing throughout the evening.

Nice place lovely food my only complaint was the "coconut" ice cream wasn't coconut ice cream, it was vanilla with coconut flakes so disappointed with that

Says they open till 10pm on Sunday’s and when we get there they hv decided to close early because they had no customers!! No wonder why they hv no customers with this kind of business practices. Reply to the response - Pls DO NOT advice when to eat out and what to eat out for your customers. If you state you are open open, just keep open and customers will come when they prefer to come. There is no mention of reservation only at half 9, so just dont make things up. I would never visit a restaurant who doesn't have good business ethics, it says a lot about food.

8 of us came after work on June 1st. We had a great time and the food was excellent. Will be visiting again

As always the food is incredibly fresh, great value and beautifully flavoursome. The staff are always very pleasant, it's a beautifully decorated restaurant with a lovely atmosphere and good music. I couldn't recommend this highly enough. I've been here 5-6 times now and each time has been as good as the last.

I recently had dinner at Ikanji in Weston-super-Mare, and it was fantastic! The food was some of the best Japanese cuisine I've ever had. Everything was so fresh and delicious—especially the sushi rolls and ramen. The service was top-notch too. The staff were super friendly and made me feel right at home. They knew the menu inside out and gave great recommendations. The restaurant itself has a cozy, welcoming vibe that made the whole experience even better. If you're in Weston-super-Mare and love Japanese food, you have to check out Ikanji. I can't wait to go back!

Been a few times now I never tire of this place the menu is quite large.you get a lovely warm welcome. Everyone is pleasant. a few nights they have eat as much as you like buffet the portions are quite large 😋 you can choose sushi chicken teriyaki.noodles .rice. soup fish. Curries and many more you certainly couldn't go through buffet menu. 😋 we had a nice Rose Zinfandel. I shall keep going back either with family or friends. thank you Everyone who work in IKANJI.

Usually order from here no issues but accepted my order for delivery then said they were closed (even though when i ordered they werent) then cant tell me how to get my money back.

Sushi rice was overcooked And the fish platter was mostly vegetables one king prawn

Came to Ikanji to celebrate my birthday and delighted that we did. Some outstanding dishes: ramen, miso soup, an excellent sushi platter and wondrously good kinoko Itame (a vegan starter of mushrooms cooked in garlic soy and sake). Friendly service and a surprise at the end for my birthday. Very highly recommended.

Atmosphere is was good. Tempura was tasty. I recommend tempura and soba. Ramen was fine but not the best according to my opinion.

Friend was visiting from Leicester and as it's a short walk from home seemed ideal. This restaurant was very quiet so we were served quickly. I Cannot fault the hospitality,decor or cleanliness. Miso soup was beautiful and we enjoyed the seared tuna. Green tea was a little strong for my taste but my friend enjoyed her warm sake. For main, I had beef teppanyaki, which is by name a Japanese dish of beautifully tender beef fillet served with Japanese vegetables. Unfortunately mine was not. The food was edible, but not Japanese. The vegetable accompaniment was more in line with a western Chinese noodle bar, over cooked and bland. ( See photo) Then the strange creamy potato side dish which had no right being on the side of a quintessential Japanese dish of Teppanyaki. My friend ate them and said they were nice - that's fine but it's not Japanese. My companion enjoyed her gyoza and her main course of chicken teppanyaki. I found it was so salty, I couldn't finish a mouthful. There were no Asian vegetables or Umami flavour on the meal which was very disappointing.

Had dinner at the restaurant for my mom birthday. The restaurant has very good atmosphere feel clean and warm and welcoming. Staffs so friendly and helpful. Food was delicious and fresh every body was really enjoyed the dinner. The price is quite reasonable too. We will definitely go back soon. Thank you for the great time and great food. 5 stars for sure!

The food is excellent, very reasonable price, nice place, very clean, the service lets it down, bit slow, both courses turned up at once, took ages to pay, they appear more interested in the takeaway service. But, food is worth it, I will be going back.

It was s big order and unfortunately food was luke warm by the time we got it. Nice food though.

Weve been twice here and on both occasions - we enjoyed our evening good menu - with something for all tastes - pleasent staff - lacked atmosphere - some traditional background music - would have been good 😊

Always a fantastic experience. But even more special as they catered for our wedding on 30th September 2023 and they couldn't have been more attentive and professional. I would highly recommend 👌 👍

Tonight, we visited this charming restaurant for the first time and I am certain that we're going to visit again. The service, from first greeting to final adieu was delightful. Our servers were attentive and helpful. The food we ate was beautifully prepared and cooked and, while not necessarily 5* in presentation, was most certainly all of that in flavour, freshness and quality. Thank you for a lovely evening. Highly recommended.

Fantastic as always great food well worth the cost

Not one for writing reviews but our experience at this restaurant deserves a five star one. We chose Japanese as we have never tried and sooo happy we did. The food and service was out of this world. And although we never booked as a birthday meal and just made a passing comment to the waiter. The next thing the whole staff came out with a traditional Japanese cake with a candle singing Happy Birthday with tambourines to my daughter which really made her night. Was the icing on the cake. Many thanks to all the staff at Ikanji and will be our go to restaurant in the future. Can not recommend highly enough.

Updated September 2023. Why? Well, because Ikanji now do an 'All You Can Eat' Menu of 18 dishes (photo of menu shown) which we tried and I have to say were brilliant! They have jiggled around the running order of the dishes over the past few months, putting all of the Maki dishes with the lower numbers, first and with the 'larger' dishes towards the end. I don't know why really, but here is a tip or two..... Don't start with number 1 (Miso soup) and plan to work your way through the menu numerically. Maki, as you may know, is rolled (in seaweed) rice with a central filling (Photo). So you will eat a lot of rice and be full well before the 'larger' dishes start. You order 3 dishes at a time, so Miso soup and perhaps a couple of Maki to start. Then order 3 more dishes. I call them 'larger' but all of the dishes are a decent size really, not mere taster portions. We have been to Ikanji several times now, and it is always excellent tasting food. Previous Review: Dined in with a party of three. An authentic Japanese food experience . We ordered a range of dishes, and each one was delicious. Fine dining really. That means you are getting good quality for which you pay a bit more. However, as long as you feel that you are getting value for money, then I think that is fair enough. A nice environment with pleasant multi-lingual staff (if you fancy practising your Japanese). We will be going again!

Delicious, hot and fresh. Tofu was absolutely divine

We love Japanese cuisine and found this little gem within easy distance of a large car park. Prices are good, the service exemplary and the food absolutely delicious with good portion sizes. The place was busy with lots of families and couples alike. The menu allowed for a wide choice of dietary options. Highly recommended, so why not give them a try.

First time for Japanese food and I loved it. Very tasty. My daughter loves Japanese food and wanted me to try it. Great atmosphere, great staff, great service. Definitely recommend this place its lovely.

Amazing restaurant. I think, it's the best restaurant with Japanese cuisine I've ever been. Delicious food, fair enough prices and very kind staff. We have been there twice and every time we tried something new - everything was amazing. Definitely will goo there again and worth visiting. Trust me, you won't be disappointed.

The food was delicious BUT not very warm, was told that my order would be between 7.10 and 7.40 - this was updated to 8.00 but I didn’t get it til 8.25.

First time dinning here and will be coming back for more! The atmosphere is very relaxing, staff are very friendly. The food are amazing!!!

Well Worth the price food is amazing

We had the tokabitsu beef fillet omakase? £59.95 for 2. It was absolutely delicious! The crab side salad was incredible! The service was attentive but not intrusive. Early Saturday evening so not so busy which is why only 4 for atmosphere. Would definately recommend. Do not be put off by asking for advice from the menu if new to japanese cuisine, the staff are really happy to advise.

I have left lots of good reviews for Ikanji before but this is 4/5 due to reduced portion size. My favourite is (was) the Spicy Tuna salad. Now there is almost no Tina in it, maybe a spoonful of tiny bits of tuna, and NO tobiko at all now, yet it costs £12. Not happy and unlikely to order again except on a special occasion maybe. On the plus side, their sticky garlic rice is still the best rice dish I've ever eaten.

Spent £50 food never turned up restaurant was no help and neither was customer service on just eat. Very disappointing. Especially since I use that restaurant all the time, very bad loyalty won’t be using anymore

Absolutely superb, carefully prepared and presented food, friendly staff and chef's, the best Japanese in Western by far, we go on a Sunday evening after our busy food trade to chill out and chat over some great food. Keep up the good work folk's it's absolutely cracking.

Wow. First time eating here tonight and the food was incredible. Staff were lovely, very welcoming and friendly. Great menu with loads to choose from. We had a mixed sashimi and maki platter and a range of starters as part of our main too and all was exquisite. They even brought us a crab salad to start on the house and that was divine. We finished it all off with a pot of green tea and some scrumptious desserts including green tea cake and cheesecake with delicious coconut ice cream. Couldn’t fault the meal and at a really great price too. Thank you! We will be back again soon :)

Exceptional food and great service

Sushi was beautiful, unfortunately the mains were cold & the chicken was quite bland

Just had a bad takeaway. Only a 5-10 min drive home and the spring rolls were soggy and the soup was the worst I've ever tasted. Haven't had too bad food there before while sat in the place but seriously not worth going again.

Wonderful customer service. Restaurant called to say one of the items I ordered was unavailable, I chose a replacement and the restaurant included a lovely that you note (for my understanding). Would definitely order again.

Family dinner for a birthday celebration. Went on a Tuesday evening at 6.30 and booked. We were the 3rd table of customers of about 30 available but the place filled up quite quickly. Table service was epic, quick, not rushed in anyway. Ordering was straight forward from a numbered menu with good descriptions of what the dishes were. Food came after about a 15 min wait. Stunning presentation, quantity and taste. An absolute gem of a place. Highly worth while. Some other customer had the staff come out and sing happy birthday which was done in good style and with a tamberine just to highlight the embarrassed birthday person 😂

Me and my partner came here for a birthday meal whilst we were on holiday in the area, we had a three course meal with starter, main and desserts. My partner had the seafood miso soup and katsu curry and I had the yakitori and udon noodle dish and we shared some sushi. Everything was absolutely delicious, the food and drinks were all amazing. The service was also great with lovely staff and a really chilled atmosphere. Thank you so much for our wonderful time!

We thought we'd give this restaurant a try as we love Japanese food, and the other 2 Japanese restaurants in wsm are excellent. (we live in wsm) Well, they are lovely people and the atmosphere is quite nice, but the food is sadly below par. In comparison to the Japenese restaurant a few doors around the corner this is (I'm sad to say) really quite bland. (Eb****) My Gyoza for example was crispy which is shouldn't be. It was really crispy in fact, and a vland flavour. I did mention this to the waitress, but nothing happened. I wasn't offered anything else, and it wasn't even taken off the bill... My wife thought the same about her food. It was no comparison to Eb***** or Sa**** Disappointibg, but very happy to say wsm does have two excellent restaurants if you do the research. Really, the taste difference is unbelievable!

I've been there recently and had a lovely time. The food was delicious, all staff was friendly and attentive, the menu had such a great variety of Japanese dishes and it's such a relaxing environment. You can even see the chef cooking. Couldn't ask for better!

Great quality food, but portion sizes are quite small. We normally order from Ebisu, but they are closed on Sunday’s, hence why we tried it today. Steak for £27.95 is lovely, but rice amount is Tiny and small amount of steak for that higher price.

The menu seemed like it had been Westernised rather than really authentic, plastic chopsticks and table decorations from The Range. Premium prices for a sub-standard experience. The food, while served quickly, was fairly bland and we left after the starters as not prepared to waste more money for equally disappointing mains and sides. The only good part was the service - all the waitresses were polite and understanding.

We dropped in here on the off chance. They were doing a Sunday buffet for £21.95 which seemed popular. We ordered a selection of starters to share, chicken teriyaki, chicken gyoza, tuna flame seared, endame, 8 mixed sushi & sashimi. We were advised there would be a 20 minute wait on food, during which time the restaurant filled up. The food arrived and the service was courteous and attentive. Very unusual ice-cream flavours. We enjoyed all our food and would go back.
