The best cafe in Maesteg bar none. Extremely friendly staff and there's a fantastic selection of sweet treats that are surely the best in the Bridgend area.

First time to try this coffee shop and was so dissapointed the cups looked like they had been brought in from the house not proper white coffee cups & saucers. The coffee came as one shot & you have to pay an extra 60 pence for the other shot which comes at the same time from the machine!! Such a shame!!

called here for some tea and cakes yesterday very very nice also had the corned beef pie with some crisps on the side the staff were lovely and the range of diffrent things cakes to home made pies superb look forward to next visit.

Lovely coffee shop in Maesteg. Visited with friends for lunch last week and we all really enjoyed. I had a jacket potato which I can definitely recommend. The place was spotlessly clean and staff couldn’t do enough for us. We took out cakes to have later and they were amazing! Can’t wait to go back for more

They do gorgeous cakes, sadly it’s cash only now which is inconvenient, and I was horrified that a flat white costs an eye watering £4.10! London prices! and as far as coffee it’s nothing exceptional - enjoy the cakes just don’t be caught out by the rip off coffee prices

Was second customer through the door on a Saturday morning and found fairly scant offerings. Just a few brownies, few cookie dough, no cheesecake, no stuffed cookies, no macarons. The only confectionery in plentiful supply was cupcakes. The items I bought were delicious though!

High tea and what a fab experience. Yep, this is a little gem in the middle of Maesteg.... well worth a jaunt. We booked high tea and were warmly welcomed, looked after throughout and thoroughly enjoyed our graze. The children had options which allowed them shakes or squash alternatives instead of tea plus a choice of sarnies. We had some hot savouries to start with, a trio of sandwiches on mixed bread to follow and then the sweet goodies consisting of orange and cranberry welsh cake, scones, Bailey cheesecake, mince pie and choc sprouts.... bloody lovely! Couldn’t finish it all, had to have a carry out! Staff were all really nice and were key to the great time we had. Would definitely return.

This place has a friendly atmosphere, friendly staff and great cakes in all varietys. Myself and my wife took our nephews to the Elf High Tea yesterday and needless to say they both thoroughly enjoyed it. If your just looking for a cuppa, some food or a sweet treat - Iced Cake Parlour is definitely where to head.

Some of the best cakes on the planet, and fine coffee to accompany. Met an old school friend here and ended up staying and chatting for hours. Well worth stopping by.

Christmas high tea was beautiful but I thought it was expensive with only one cup of coffee included in £17.

Visited yesterday for afternoon tea with my sister and friend. The staff were very friendly and attentive and the interior is lovely and welcoming and cosy. The food was delicious, just as an afternoon tea should be. Little sandwiches with the crusts cut off, mini pasties and delicious selection of cakes. Would definitely go back again.

Came here with some friends to have the breakfast high tea. Coffee, bacon sarnies, croissants, what more could you ask for?! Great service, amazing fresh food, and delicious coffee too. We bought some cupcakes on the way out too which were very reasonably priced and absolutely gorgeous. Will definitely be returning!

I just moved to the area and read several times on Facebook that people recommend here for their Welsh cakes.....I love a Chocolate Chip Welsh cake and finally on my 4th visit they had them in and was it worth the wait, YES! The atmosphere is lovely and the 2 young girls serving could not have been more polite or more friendly, they serve food as well as a variety of cakes, coffees, tea's, milkshakes and more. Their Welsh Cakes fly out so if you can go there I would highly recommend you do.

I have been in twice to order cupcakes. The service is lovely. There is a large amount of different cupcakes. Well worth the visit just make sure you get there early because the cakes fly off the shelves

This place is excellent for me, they do gluten free, and dairy free products most of the time. Food is well cooked and nicely presented, staff are always present, helpful approachable. It's always a pleasant experience eating at Iced. Four stars coz there's always room for improvement.

This little establishment could be seen as a jewel in the crown of Maesteg. It should not detract from the quality of the place in the reader's mind when one writes that the competition is not great, but that simply in my opinion, is the case. This unfortunate position merely makes iced cake parlour more of a haven of pleasant experience both in terms of the delicacies on offer and the friendly professional service of staff.

I've never know why people go mad for this place it's way overrated and expensive. The dector is really nice and homely tho.

Go on, treat yourself. Get pampered at the parlour and enjoy coffee, cake and foody treats in this cosy cafe.

I’ve visited here with friends before and had a lovely afternoon and an enjoyable afternoon tea. Hence why myself and friends wished to book again as we enjoyed our experience. We arranged a date and time and booked and paid a deposit. Only to be contacted 2 days before to be advised that this booking time has been changed, (due to a bigger group of people having booked and getting priority) also hearing the staff in the background commenting that “we haven’t paid in full anyway”. As a result of this one of our friends could not make it. We ended up cancelling the booking which is a shame as the food and cakes are delicious. I will not be booking here again as I feel that the attitudes on some staff members is disgraceful.

I’ve never been before but had heard great things about it! It’s well worth making the journey from Bridgend to Maesteg. There is a great selection of cakes and drinks on offer. I had a chocolate orange brownie and a cup of tea, the brownie was a generous portion and was beautiful but abit too much for me! Others in the party had a massive slice of pistachio cake again fab flavour and a salted caramel brownie definitely one for someone with a sweet tooth! My only criticism is that none of the cakes are labelled in the display cabinet and it’s not always obvious what the flavours are, when there’s a queue of people behind you it’s difficult to make an informed decision. I would like to see the cakes labelled just so you could choose while you’re waiting to be served and not have to ask the assistant and keep people waiting longer otherwise lovely!

This is our first time here and would definitely recommend, we booked a table (booking is strongly advised as it is very popular), on entry the place is spotless and beautifully decorated.Absoulutley loved the decor, we had the high tea, which was an array of sandwiches (crusts cut off) the most delicious cupcakes,scones and clotted cream and jam,brownies welsh cakes and endless cups off tea all served on bone china.I don't like quiche but the little one that came with it was stunning, well worth the money for a treat.The children had their own little high tea and really enjoyed the experience, nothing was too much trouble for the amazing staff there. The atmosphere there was relaxed and we weren't rushed to get out like other places, would recommend, their menu board is quite extensive and well priced considering everyhing is made in house and all freshly baked, we couldn't eat all of the hight tea so we were given little boxes to take them home a lovely touch!!.Thankyou sooo much iced cake parlour you made our visit wonderful and fabulous memories were made also

Loveliest staff and the best cupcakes!

I have been told about this venue but never been. This was remedied on Saturday, it was very hot but the place was cool. The staff very friendly and helpful, the venue spotless.The cornbeef pie is very tasty with a little salad and a handful of crisps, they had warmed the pie to just the right temperature. We had a pot of tea for two, very good, I did indulge in the coffee cake which I just managed to finish ( very big). They do have special afternoon high tea, if the standard we had was anything to go by it would be very filling.

Booked high tea for 2, gave 24 hours notice as required, when we arrived today, we were told, "that was yesterday and you didn't turn up" (however that was the same day we had booked to give the 24 hours notice?) We understand that miscommunication can happen but there was no offer of an apology or a "please sit and you can order from the normal menu instead", just an absolutely terrible attitude from the staff which is the last thing you want when it's a boiling hot day, you have an 18 month old in company who just wants a cold drink and you were looking forward to something (meant to be a late birthday catch up). Would absolutely not try to go there and again and not recommend. The cakes did look lovely but it's not worth dealing with that type of attitude when there are other establishments that are much more welcoming and service lovely afternoon tea for 2 at 5 minutes notice (thank you LouChi's). Absolutely do not recommend.

Got cupcakes to go with the kids and they we lovely. I also tried the chocolate brownies they are so so good. The cafe is very classy looking too

I visit iced cake parlour regular they have the best coffee, pleasant staff and excellent food I highly recommend a visit.

Not 5 because it's always really busy, you can't really spend along time there, you'll have to book. But you can take away the cakes which is brilliant

Been here twice since it opened. Typical friendly valley tea shop with a lovely looking array of cakes. It's always filled with locals, a good sign! My daughter always has cupcakes, my husband homemade pasties or savoury ,son usually has some kind of snack savoury and me I cant resist the cakes or bread puddings etc. Always very nice and always less than I expect. Staff friendly, the later you go the less choice but you expect that! That's two nice cares here with Lou Chis too. All served on bone china too, nice touch x

What a disapointment, mainly scones an welsh cakes. Poor selection given, not made fresh, prepared hours before and refrigerated so everything was ice cold. All them lovely looking cakes in the window, and only 1 nice one each £14 not worth it. Won't be back

I absolutely love iced cake parlour, I wish they would make more of the amazing cheesecakes, I always see loads of photos on Facebook but always gone when I go for a slice. Best cupcakes around and very reasonable prices. I would love to sit in the restaurant and have a freak shake or some of the homemade dinners but it’s always full up.

So, I'm a diagnosed celiac, meaning I HAVE to follow a totally gluten free diet. I was walking past when I spotted gluten free cupcakes in the window. I was so pleased coz normally all I can do is look on longingly knowing that I can no longer eat these beautiful baked goods.I was not disappointed, these cupcakes were delicious. To be honest if the gluten free ones taste this good, then you know the "normal" ones must be heavily.Thank you so much for taking the time and effort to make your scrummy cakes

This is cosy and friendly cafe which specialises in cakes especially cupcakes. I had toast last time I was there and the bread was very nice and they make a good cup of tea.

Wow! What an incredible place! I was truly blown away by everything! Such a quirky little place. The best afternoon tea I have had (I've tried a lot) and the cheapest. The cheesecake was to die for, the best chocolate brownie ever and the sandwiches were amazing! The crisps come in little tea cups which I loved! Even the toilet was amazing! Would highly recommend a visit to this little gem of a place

I took my in-laws, daughter & her friend for high tea to iced parlour to celebrate my daughter & her friend graduating university. I must say what a lovely time we had there, food was all very fresh with a great selection to choose from, staff were attentive & friendly. Would definitely recommend and I can't wait to return.

Came here yesterday for a coffee and lunch. Can't quite believe this is cafe of the year or whatever award they have. Bread was stale in my tuna sandwich, no froth on my cappuccino and girl waitresses running around like headless chickens and ignoring most of their customers. Would avoid at all costs!

What a gem in Maesteg!Yummy cakes all cooked on the premises - my favourites include chocolate orange brownies and cherry scones but in reality, everything is delicious.Good range of savoury items too.Presentation is spot on and service is excellent.They say that people make a business and this is why everything about this great place is top notch. The interior has a strong vintage theme with a bit of an industrial/warehouse vibe.This is a great place for a celebratory tea or just catching up with great friends.

Many people look down at the Welsh Valleys as a dark and dismal place, what they fail to see is the many people with talent and flair,that work hard everyday to keep the life in their towns. This cafe is the product of two talented and hard working young mums,that have a passion for food; cakes in particular. I had a fish finger sandwich with the most delectable pea purée I have ever tasted this week, with a cup of cappuccino that actually tasted of coffee. In the past I have sampled most of their cakes, and pastries, the cheesecake being one of my favourites. If you haven't tried it yet, you are missing out on a little gem.

We have social challenge, and we carry difficulties remaining after those who prospered from our mineral wealth left.Perhaps our greatest threat is the one that lingers in apathy, mediocrity and the acceptance of the sub standard.Against his background then imagine my thrill this afternoon when at the very heart of the old iron and coal town of Maesteg in the Llynfi Valley, I happened upon the place that has compelled me to write this review.The cafe in question, sitting virtually opposite the old Council Offices and Town Hall, which are architecturally worth more than a second glance, is The Ice Cake Parlour.As soon as one crosses the threshold from the traffic ruled streets, into the subdued ambience of the cafe, the world changes.Someone of utter genius must have designed the cacoon of the interior. The lighting is soft but more than adequate to advantageously illuminate the interior which is an eclectic blend of natural material.There is a mouth watering array of delicacies awaiting your pleasure, with these being offered by ladies who are obviously of the town, as they carry the hallmark of warm friendliness rightly associated with Maesteg's history.I was fortunate to unknowingly strike a conversation with one of the proprietors.Well into the discussion, during that stage when one compares backgrounds, I learned that Sam was actually a first class honours graduate, having specialised in the visual arts.It was at his point that the striking visual quality of the place most modestly showed its font of inspiration.So the artistic dcor might have been an amalgam of skill and learning, but the welcome and attention from all of the staff - well that is simply the norm in these parts.Yes friends, when you get off the train at Bridgend, do not stop there but catch another for a ten minute ride to Maesteg and call at the Iced Cake Parlour. You will thus combine the joy of seeing the old town's visual history with savouring the best of understated contemporary excellence All of your sense will be satisfied - that I personally guarantee as do the plaques celebrating the success of this little establishment during recent times.

I regularly frequent this cafe and there is plenty to choose from. The cakes are delicious as is the rest of the menu. It is very popular and many people come from out of town.

Arranged to meet an old work colleague here. Really lovely place - relaxing and well thought out décor and appointment etc.. Wide variety of cakes and savouries, and tea is served with really nice chine cups & saucers! Excellent value too in my view. Just the kind of thing the town centre needed, staff really lovely too. Well done to the owner(s) for setting up such a high quality and relaxing establishment! I will be back....

Afternoon tea here is a must. They also do Childs high tea which is very good. Lovely decor and quick service. A good place to eat and drink! Plenty of menu choices. You must eat here.

I'd heard wonderful things about Iced cake parlour but never managed to get there to try it for myself. Taking my mum for Mothers day, albeit on the following Monday was the perfect excuse.I'd booked afternoon tea for two and was presented with pretty china, a large pot of tea, a good selection of sandwiches and enough cup cakes, brownies, cheesecakes,scones, Welsh cakes and macaroons to feed an army!Everything was made fresh and all tasted delicious. I wish I could have eaten everything but we were given a box to take home what we couldnt manage.I will definitely return and cant wait to try the stunning section of other cakes and treats as well as savoury dishes on offer.The decour is pretty, it was clean and very well presented. GO!!

Needed a coffee when arriving in Maesteg, tried this rather retro café and loved the atmosphere, and served by really helpful staff. So good we returned for lunch, and had a lovely snack lunch and thoroughly enjoyed the experience. We must return next time we're in Maesteg. 5 stars from all three of us!
