Ice Shack in Manchester

Amazing ice cream. Amazing cakes. Amazing people! Ice Shack is one of the few places I'll visit just to sit down and hang out. Even visiting alone there's always someone to speak to. The staff are lovely. You could not meet nicer people. An absolute must for vegans to visit if visiting Manchester. There's currently no wheelchair access due to no fault of the owner.

Best cake in Manchester and the best selection of vegan ice cream in the world. Run by the nicest woman you will ever meet. Almost everyone who visits here becomes a regular, all should come here vegan or otherwise!

I'll start with the good. The staff have always been friendly, there are lots of flavours available and they cater for a gluten free diet also. Having a daughter who is dairy and gluten intolerant you can imagine this place became a firm favourite. We haven't been for a while as we moved abroad however, we visited last week and I'm absolutely gutted to say that we were left feeling really disappointed. For context we took our son who is also dairy and gluten intolerant but has a peanut allergy to boot. We queued up all the while my son was shouting icecream and generally being excited and were told that they use the same scoop for all icecreams including the ones with nuts and peanuts which obviously left the rest of them unsafe. I will accept my part in my sons disappointment, I should of checked before we queued BUT it would be so simple to just get a red icecream scoop and use that exclusively on the icecreams containing nuts. Such a small change could remedy a whole group of people being unable to enjoy this place. Hopefully this will be considered and implemented in the future.

Very friendly service in a nice atmosphere. We had milkshakes and they were delicious and made from homemade ice cream. Very tasty and satisfying. Good value too. We'll be back!

Incredible ice cream shop and offers the widest range of high quality vegan ice cream I've ever seen. Visited this place for my sister's birthday and do not regret it!

Delicious ice cream, very reasonable price, the only thing is on the board I didn't notice a clear price for add on toppings so ended up paying more than I thought but still it is a good value. Defenietly recommend it. Cakes also looked delicious unfortunately could not spend more on my tight budget.

Visited for the first time on a quiet Friday evening and was blown away by the customer service before anything else. Didn’t grab the name of who we spoke to, presumably the owner, but they were very open and chatty in a way that was just genuinely friendly. They were very personable and involved in the local community, chatting happily with us about other vegan businesses nearby. They were passionate about their products and genuinely excited to hear it was our first time visiting. They recommended the Black Forest and marshmallow ice creams and both were exceptional - very creamy and thick with excellent flavours. The range was fantastic too, lots of ‘standard’ flavours but also things you don’t see often. The prices were reasonable and clearly labelled, and allergens were clearly shown too. They were sold out of most cakes and near empty on lots of ice creams which is a really good sign for a weekday. The atmosphere was really welcoming and clearly shown to be a safe space for all customers which is always a winner by my standards. Really rate everything about Ice Shack and I’m sure we’ll become frequent visitors in spite of being a 20 minute drive away!

A place that creates the best vegan icecreams I have ever had. The owner is lovely. I have visited the previous location and the new one too. I like that they have small games.

I have been here a few times now, lovely place and staff with various ideas to foster community. Peach Melba is now my lads favourite ice cream. Definitely recommend

I didn't know this was an all vegan establishment. I wasn't a fan of the my ice cream, but everyone else liked theirs. Fantastic customer service, fantastic prices , very clean. Keep up the good work.

Today I bought a milkshake and a brownie from Ice Shack for my sister. She absolutely loved the products and said that the milkshake was probably the best she’s ever had ! I was served by Jess who was very friendly and knew lots about the products and overall shop features. She was great ! Overall, £7.35 for a homemade brownie and milkshake + friendly service is great value in my eyes. Will definitely be coming back in the near future !

A really friendly and inclusive place. Great value for money and fantastic staff. The new shop is is lovely and has kept the coziness with their upstairs living room area. Thoroughly enjoy my time here everytime I visit.

What a great place, free water and glasses and the board games and puzzles are a great little touch thatanged to amuse 4 grown adults whilst we enjoyed our amazing milkshakes which were just 🤤🤤🤤 Staff friendly and everything tasted amazing, would love to visit again.

Incredible ice cream, very tasty cakes and cupcakes and a super friendly funny and lovely owner!! The biscoff ice cream is super creamy and tastes like you are having an actual biscuit!! The chocolate and peanut butter cake was my favourite. Great place to sit down, have a chat, have a coffee and enjoy great cakes. I also found the board games on the tables a nice distraction and great idea to entertain.

I loved all the Halloween themed cakes. I had a slice of the fearfetti with a scoop of pistachio ice cream and it was delicious. The service was amazing, atmosphere was super friendly. I was supporting a gentleman with hearing impairment who has trouble modulating his speaking volume but nobody made us feel worried or bad about this which was lovely. Also love the LGBTQIA+ welcoming vibe and the awesome wall art and decor. See you soon ice shack 😋

Absolutely amazing place! We went there today without knowing that this place is fully vegan. I was over the moon with home made ice cream! Omg they were the best ice cream I ever had😱😱😱 Atmosphere was absolutely fantastic, delicious cakes (Oreo and Jaffa cake were yumi)😋 and next time we are definitely coming for more. I didn't expect much and it was amazing suprise to see so many board games,kids and dog friendly offers and accessories. We loved it and I already recommended this place to my friends. The cakes are exceptional! So often in places like this the cake looks gorgeous and tastes... fine. Not here; everything is beautifully flavoured, moist and gorgeously decorated. The staff are really friendly too.

What a fabulous place. We were in Manchester and found this little gem. The owner leah was lovely. We had cake and ice cream and it’s the best I’ve tasted. I can definitely recommend the cherry and dark chocolate ice cream it’s delicious. We’ll definitely be going back for more

Never the wrong month for ice cream. Especially not Rose & Pistachio, and Apple Pie flavours. Or (2023) Strawberry and Basil. The gluten-free vegan Red Velvet cake was lush too.

Coming across this vegan dessert place online, my friend and I made the journey on a quiet Sunday. We walked to Deansgate station and got a train to Mauldeth Road. I had a Deluxe Milkshake: this consisted of three scoops of ice cream, milk (there’s almond, oat, hazelnut etc) and three toppings. There were around 20 ice cream flavours to be tempted by- mine were all sweet and chocolatey, as were my toppings (Biscoff sauce, chocolate sprinkles and Oreo biscuit). The Victoria Sponge ice cream caught my eye, and so I also got a scoop of that for the road. The cakes/pastries were almost all sold out by the time we got there, so arrive earlier if you want to browse a good selection. It seemed like a popular place to unwind with reading, board games and other such activities, but I felt the slightly scruffy interior could have done with a sprucing up.

My first visit to the ice shack today with my adult sons who live in Withington. I had the Victoria sponge ice-cream 😋 & they had peanut butter. Lots going off in here & dog 🐾 friendly. The lady on duty was really efficient , sociable & fun. The prices are more than fair…. Very reasonable indeed for such a quality product … a winner!!! Thank you!

Amazing secret little vegan ice cream and cake shop. Tucked away, run by the friendliest lady I've ever met. Absolutely wonderful ice cream and cake. VEGAN! SUGAR! HEAVEN!

Ice shack is THE place to get ice cream, cake, hot drinks etc. All of the cakes and the majority of the ice-creams/sorbets are homemade. This dedicated passion for the café is matched with the warm energy and friendly attitude by the staff. The cakes are not only some of the best I've ever tasted, but some of the icing artwork is outstanding. It's colourful and welcoming vibe makes it somewhere I go when I need some self-care, aided by the affordability. The only negative is that it's not on the high street and so people don't know what they're missing! Gluten free options available, dog friendly and suitable for families.

Brilliant place to relax with friends, play board games and eat excellent ice cream! Service is wonderfully friendly and welcoming, and the place has a real community feel. The staff have created a space where all of my friends and I feel safe, relaxed and comfortable. And did I mention the ice cream is DELICIOUS?

This place leaves me speechless. The service is unlike anything I have encountered elsewhere, both in speed and professionalism. The coffee? Take a sip, what you experience will be unexpected, to say the least. The Ice Cream needs to be tasted to be believed. The road is always open.

Great experience - a nice cosy and relaxed cafe with heavenly vegan cakes, ice-cream and chocolates. The oreo cake was the best vegan sponge I've ever had and probably in my top 3 of any cake ever! They also do cakes to order if you've an event coming up - the cake was very well received at a recent party we had regardless of whether people were vegan or not!

My 4 year old daughter, reviewing this, says "C'est bon", and wants to work there when she grows up. Pretty much sums it up :) great place, wonderful food and relaxed atmosphere.

Wow amazing all vegan cafe wow wow the texture of the cake was incredible so moist and spongey! And the maple cinnamon and marzipan chunk ice cream was such a unique combination. The chewy marzipan was so pleasurable in my mouth ❤️❤️❤️ she makes everything from scratch with love

Manchester is home to many great vegan places, but none quite compare to this one. From the incredible range of ice cream flavours to the delectable cakes, Iceshack does away with any compromise between visuals and taste, instead overachieving in both with every creation. But it's not just the food, ambiance, service, or sense of community that kept me coming back. It's the feeling of home that you get, no matter if it's your first visit or you are a regular. Iceshack has set an impossibly high standard for me, and I wouldn't have it any other way.

Great little dessert place! Went there as a mixed vegan and non-vegan group, and everyone loved the ice creams and cake! Great choice of flavours, classics and fun ones! The cakes are made by the owner and as well as looking amazing, they tasted lovely too. Pleased there were options for our gluten-free person too. The owner is lovely, warm and inviting. Definitely would recommend!! Unfortunately waffles and cookie sandwiches had sold out do will just have to come back to try them!

My son and daughter in law treated me to a cake and drink here after a lovely walk in a park. Being vegans, they had chosen this venue based on local knowledge. It is a little off the beaten track so make sure you check Google Maps before arriving. There is a laid back feel as you enter, with settees and throws as well as games and books on shelves. My son and daughter had some Biscoff cake whilst I chose vegan chocolate cake and a ginger tea. The cakes were delicious and the lady serving was friendly and chatty. The cakes were home made and we loved the friendly feel of the cafe. My grandson enjoyed playing Connect Four and the various toys available. There were so many varieties of ice cream available as well as chocolates on sale and a good selection of drinks. Quaint a perfect for animal loving vegans.

From really friendly staff and a relaxed and welcoming atmosphere, to great vegan ice creams and sorbets and tempting looking cakes, chocolates and drinks. What an absolute gem. So good I came back later in the week, I had to try some more flavours of ice cream. My favourites were the lemon sorbet and the peanut butter and chocolate ice cream. Good prices too. Lots of board games available to play too.

What a nice place. Visited from Emidlands on the way home. Quaint, non pretentious, warm and welcoming! We had tea, carrot cake, chocolate slice and everything was delicious. So delicious that we took some extras home. Owner was really lovely too, its not so often you can walk into a place and someone will go out of their way to make you feel welcome. thank you and we'll definitely be popping in again. Xx

Best cake place ever, and it’s vegan!! I’m not vegan personally, but their cakes are to die for! Also, they do loads of different ice creams and sorbets! The photo below is of a vegan chocolate orange cupcake as a highland cow, and their vegan crème eggs cupcakes they did at Easter!

A must visit gem in Withington. If you manage not to be mesmerised by the beautiful vegan ice cream, try the gluten free baked treats 😋 so yummy! Great place to chill out and play connect 4, so cosy and friendly. (Favorite flavours of ice cream so far are: peach, coconut and blueberry, I'm making my way around the ice cream counter 😀). Absolutely love this place it's a hidden gem of Manchester , of you're looking for vegan ice-cream ,cakes and coffees this is the place ! They have a nice area to sit and chill and work on your laptop , there's even a Nintendo 64 to play super Mario carts with your pals ! The owners are absolutely lovely and it's a great place to meet other vegan people too , Located in withington just near the library

What a great place to have ice cream and cake. Could easily spend hours here with the board games and Mario kart. The lady was so friendly and bubbly made the experience even nicer and the cakes she makes herself. Just a great place to have fun and eat nice sweet treats

We are regular customers of this place, the ambiance is great, the staff are the most friendly people I have met in customer service experience and the ice creams are amazing!! The ice creams have a refreshing taste, we have tried many different flavours and all of them are delicious. We also enjoy playing board games here.

I ordered a cake from Leah for my fiance's birthday, cookie monster theme (my nickname for him since he loves cookies) and it came out absolutely beautiful! I am so impressed! Even better, it tastes absolutely divine! Chocolate & hazelnut flavour, even the frosting has a hint of hazelnut flavouring. Being a vegan cake, it means we can also share the cake with any of our friends! Absolutely gorgeous, thank you! The place itself also had a lovely warm vibe, cosy decor and games on the the tables for some fun! Perfect for a stop off for a brew and dessert. Leah and Matt (the owners) are both fantastic people, and this place is well worth a visit 😊

Really nice atmosphere, great vegan food.

Good ice cream but I wanted something savoury to start. I asked for a mixed kebab with extra yogurt and lemon juice, the staff looked at me weird I am sure this was racially motivated. But I heard some communist mutterings, having grown up in cambodia under Pol Pot. It made me feel at home. #KeepItGoing. Great ice cream. 5 stars.

Lovely little find ! We drove over from Bolton and were not disappointed. Amazing member of staff served us and the place had such a chilled and welcoming vibe, the energy was very warm. We had the cinnamon cake and the berry cake which were both 10 out of 10 !! Cant wait to try more 💚

A fantastic hidden gem in Withington. Everything about this place is spot on. From the fully reclaimed furniture and decor, to the myriad of tasty plant based treats and really friendly staff. The only problem you have is choosing what to indulge in!

Great tasting ice cream. Great atmosphere, great friendly staff and best of all, my son has a choice of 22 different flavours of ice cream. Definitely well worth a visit if you are close by and well worth a visit for people who can't have regular ice cream due to milk allergy.
