Hunger Cure Fish & Chip Kebab in Hackney

Staff very kindly looked after my sons phone which had been stolen from him the night before, contacted me to let me know they had it. Offered me drinks etc when I came to collect. Thank you also to the person that handed it in.

Did not give me what I ordered and charged me way more for a different meal… was oily undercooked an inedible so I paid and walked out. I was standing out front, they insisted on me coming in, I asked if they had a charger port and they said yes and insisted I order before plugging in. I asked if their fish burger was in their £6.50 lunch meals with a drink and he said yes. Proceeded to order and asked if it was made with shellfish as I’m allergic, he didn’t know what that meant… I said prawns, crabs etc… so he said he would make it with cod instead.. I said how much? He said pay later don’t worry. I sat down , 15 min later this older man brings out a massive plate of cod and chips… I did not order this! He said you said you could have cod.. I said I ordered the fish burger. I said is this still the meal deal price he said no… £11. I was like I did not order this, he said okay £10. He then refused to give me a drink with it. I was frustrated and not happy I begrudgingly tried a few chips, they were oily, undercooked and no flavour or salt just tasted like oil. I then poked the fish and pure oil poured out. I felt sick to my stomach and sat there for 5 min. Got up and paid. He said “sorry for confusion, £10 pounds. I said this was not what I ordered at all. I paid and LEFT. The entire plate sitting there. I am frustrated, disgusted and NEVER GOING BACK. He forced me into that store then gave me a much more expensive thing when I just ordered a lunch burger meal deal.

Awful. Saw they touching their hands on my chips while cooking and they touching their hands on nose. Lack of clean. I advise you all please not go to that shop.

Turned up at ridiculous-o'clock like other revellers. Very, very busy but they were organised and coped well. Chicken kebab was excellent, service was great but a little stingy on the fillings. Will definitely be returning when I'm next in the area.

Came down to London from Manchester, thought it would be a nice idea to have a walk around the city at night try some late night food. How wrong were we…. If I could give zero I would, food was awful. Chicken was dry, chips were stale. What I can say is Chef microwave was working harder than anyone! Avoid avoid avoid!

This place is awful. I tired to order fried (just fries!) and they were rude about the order and started shouting expletives at me for just ordering fires. The shop was open and there were other customers but they were insistent on being rude for no reason and made it difficult for me to order. I ended up not ordering because I felt uncomfortable. They were rude and I felt unnecessary hate from them. They are the worst.

Appalling place, forgot my order and had me waiting there for ages. Served all customer while i politely waited to have my order served.

Incredibly disappointed. Got some chips with cheese and asked for the BBQ sauce. I was given the BBQ sauce (inside a BBQ bottle) and poured it on my chips. When I sat down to eat, I immediately realised they had in fact put chilli sauce inside the branded BBQ sauce bottle. My food was inedible and I went to the staff and told them what had happened. The man angrily said the chilli sauce isn’t even that spicy (which it was and regardless I asked for BBQ sauce) and refused to give me a new portion and instead scraped off half the chips with chilli sauce and cheese and gave me back the bottom half of chips I had ordered. Usually go here after a night out but never again. Don’t think it’s very good practice to put random sauces inside branded bottles either.

Onvriendelijke personeel geven de tijd niet om een keuze te maken, mensen naast ons hadden verschillende haren in hun eten. Frieten koud en niet goed gebakken. Te duur voor wat het is. Vies en smerig.

Ronduit slecht met rotte bediening! Eten niet te vreten en je oplichten waar je bijstaat! Wanneer je de eigenaar hieromtrent over aanspreekt gaat hij op 5cm van je gezicht staan roepen! Respect nul komma nul.

This place stays open late. It has a variety of food from fish and chips to greek? I had a very good fish sandwich.

Kjøpte lamb kebab, med salat og løk. Får tortilla lefse med mye løk og salat i forhold til kjøttet. Lite smak i kjøttet. Får maten raskt. Litt dyrt i forhold til det du får; 6,5 pund for en tortilla lefse med lite kjøtt i.

I came here on Saturday night for Fish and Chips and got to be honest it was the worst I have eaten in a long time. The Fish was thin and the batter was tasteless and Chips were vile and if fact I left them. This place didn’t cure my hunger and however this place will be a gold mine to the owners but I won’t recommend this place even if I was starving

The worst kebab and chip shop I have ever visited. Not only was the food, staff and ambiance beyond horrific but the place was poorly furnished and the staff were very rude and unhelpful.

Awful. Staff stuck up middle fingers. Absolutely rude and disgusting. Smelt like urine. Utterly appalling. Should be close.

The security guard is racist and inconsiderate, it’s a shame because the place us owned staffed by otherwise kind people.

Sólo comí allí una vez, para un almuerzo de sábado, pero mi experiencia del servicio fue buena. Pedí dos bacalao medio y papas fritas. El contador dijo que tendría que cocinarlo fresco (7 minutos). Luego dijo que solo tenía medio (no grande) y preguntó si eso estaba bien. Lo puso en una caja pero le dije que comería, así que lo movió a un plato. Yo había tomado artículos de plástico, pero él insistió en darme cubiertos. Cuando dije que el bacalao era más grande de lo que esperaba, me hizo tomar solo uno y agregó el otro a su caso. Me pareció que la comida era buena y el servicio atento. Yo regresaria

En primer lugar, intentaron apurarnos para que ordenáramos tan pronto como entramos por la puerta a pesar de que no estaban ocupados, luego probaron el pedido ya que estábamos mirando el menú. Pedimos 2 pequeños, él nos dio 2 medianos y nos cobró ese precio, pedimos salsa de ajo. Nos dieron yogurt de menta y cuando los confronté intentaron pasarlo como ajo de yogur de menta pero no había ajo. Lo que nunca, entonces me preguntaron al menos 3 veces si era alérgico (imagínate si lo fuera) dije que no, así que dijeron que podían cambiar la salsa pero aparentemente eso significaba simplemente agregar otra salsa por encima, ignorando el hecho de que No quería nada de menta en mi comida, también vi que después de que una mujer saliera del restaurante, el hombre le dijo a otra pareja que estaba sentada allí que estaba jodida y se rió de ella. A estas alturas ya había terminado, así que dejé la comida en la mesa y nos fuimos, luego nos siguió llamándonos desde lejos, personas totalmente no profesionales y simplemente horribles, realmente me decepcionó. La comida no hubiera valido la pena sin toda la molestia.

Good food good price (for London that is) but a bit draughty where we sat. Would recommend if staying at the Holiday Inn Express across the road

Rude staff, dirty place, and basically a scam. They are lying to you price wise. Outside it says £4.50 for a 1/4 pounder with chips and a can of any drink, and inside they asked for £6.80 because it was past 3:00 PM.

La comida viene en porciones mucho más pequeñas por la cantidad que paga y se siente como si el personal intentara estafarnos. La amiga necesitaba agua porque estaba enferma, así que pidió agua del grifo y el personal se echó a reír en mi cara y me dijo que tenía que pagarlo. Aunque éramos clientes en su restaurante y ya habíamos comprado comida. ¡Lugar asqueroso y comida asquerosa!

Cabbie sugirió esto para el mejor fish & chips tarde en la noche. Recogió una orden. Las patatas fritas estaban buenas, el pescado era normal. Al día siguiente me hinché debido a toda la sal. Probablemente no es un lugar para mí, pero no hay preocupaciones, había cientos de personas allí y era 1 am.

We popped in whilst walking through town and fancied a bite to eat. The chips were cheap and served quickly plus there was a lot of choice. Not gourmet, but certainly a 'hunger cure'.

The food was warm and delightful.It was accompanied by freshly cut salad which filled my taste buds with delight.I will never forget the great experience of the wonderful food served by the welcoming kind staff.To sum up. It was tasty, very tasty!

Probably not a gourmet place, but if you're craving for a late bite after a night out, Hunger Cure will definitely meet your expectations!

Conman impresentable! Fuimos en dos pinchos y me dieron uno kebab y una bandeja de ensalada. Cuando nos señaló la bandeja de segunda no tenía carne, el servidor era grosero y odioso. Sólo cuando nos detuvimos el llamado "kebab" aparte y expuesto que la carne no era lo que en realidad nos dio algunos. Personal muy agresiva, muy grosero y obviamente rezando en borrachos para conseguir dinero en la cajas. No creo que esperábamos dos muchachos sobrio de desafío en el medio de su engañosa de maneras eran ustedes, nos pillaron y se sabía. No vale la pena el 13 libras que nos cobraron y honestamente el peor pinchos que hemos tenido. Cura el hambre, más como una huelga de hambre.

Pedimos 2 grandes pinchos y nos presenta con 1 pequeñas kebab y una bandeja de ensalada de pitta. El camarero ni siquiera reconocer nuestra protestas hasta gente involucrado. Entonces él derramó un trozo de carne en mi ensalada y nos ordenó irnos. Supongo que él esperaba que habíamos tenido demasiado a beber. Simplemente ve a la carretera para un mejor servicio.

I have being a loyal customer for over many years and the staff are pleasant all the time and delicious kebabs ! Highly recommend this place to everyone around the area.

we were looking for a good and honest fish' chips but unfortunately the quality is below any standard; the buttered completely flat taste, chips cooked in exhausted oil, and overall the shop looks let down with a luck of care. Sorry but this is my experience.

I have visited the restaurant on a number of occasions and was always delighted with the service. The portions are massive and always mouth watering, definitely will recommend to others.

Absolutamente indignado y horrorizado... todo lo que puedo decir es que el director estaba siendo increíblemente grosera a otros clientes y nosotros con nuestra orden y apresurándose con dijo que "darse prisa y comer "Todo el personal encantador y amable, tomado nuestra orden... patatas fritas no estaban lo suficientemente cocidos, y me sentí muy incómodo estar allí casi a la izquierda. El director "quería irse a casa "bien lo siento pero que es completamente inaceptable para decir delante de sus colegas y clientes. Que todos los trabajos y la prestación de servicios. Pronto como terminado no podría haber sido más rápido en abrir las puertas presionando de marcharnos. Nunca jamás volver aquí y no se lo recomendaría a otros. Que pena por ti, especialmente todas las buenas críticas de aquí hasta ahora...

We walked past this place twice before deciding to go in. We were pleasantly surprised at the quality & freshness of the fish. It came with hand cut chips. As soon as we sat down we were given a large salad, on the house. We were served in less than 5 minutes by a friendly waiter. Don't be put off by the exterior, it's a great place to eat well priced food.

This is a high energy eatery popular with the locals. It has English and Middle Eastern cuisine. Fast, take away or sit down. I had a large piece of Cod and salad instead of chips and it was no problem to ask for the substitute. The fish was cooked earlier but still hot, tasted good and the salad was Middle Eastern with four kinds of veggies. On display were various kinds of local and Middle Eastern fast foods including meat pies, deep fried sausage, donar and more. I ate in and enjoyed watching all the people come and go. It didn’t coast a arm and a leg. It is a bit out of the way at Old Street and Great Eastern, but it is worth it to get out of the tourist areas.
