Hui Wong in Harrow

A very disappointing experience. I do not do many negative reviews but this was not good news. They gave a handful worth of duck. Which we payed 28gpb for. Not worth it. Ribs were dry. All in all very disappointing.

I am unhappy with the fact my food didn’t arrive and no contact was made? You marked it as delivered but the food never arrived.

Food arrived 20 mins later than the latest time (20:20 when delivery should have been between 19:40 - 20: 00 which was already later than the 30 mins delivery time advertised) Too much broccoli and the food was lukewarm to cold on arrival.

25mins from estimated delivery time So I waited in total 1hr 30mins for my order

Even though it was late it was piping hot and very nice.

Hello I ordered chow main and sweet sour chicken both dishes were dry even though sweet sour chicken supposed to be saucy and wet. Really not worth the money I spent. Nowadays I realise more and more that takeaway food it’s not worth its price. The portion is smaller and quality is really low.

Gone downhill a lot in the last few years - possibly changed management? Used to be alright and in fact was good value if you bought the family meal set. Now the quality of the food has gone down a lot and whatever you buy is almost guaranteed to be bad... Quality and quantity of ingredients has gone down but prices have gone up - plus almost always excessively greasy and salty. Maybe using less oil will contribute to keeping your ££ in check rather than cutting back on ingredients!

Disgusting! I ve orderer many different dishes for 4 people and we couldnt eat anything, just throw it away. I hate wasting food but that wasnt a food. Never again!!!

Food never arrived won't answer the phone when calling this is a not a good take away joint to anyone who wants to eat from this take away place don't bother

2 hours after ordering and it never arrived. Worse still, they're not contactable at all. Shame as previous orders with them were fine but I won't risk using them again.

Had ordered before and enjoyed the food. This time made a mistake with delivery address and although the correct address was near to the restaurant wouldn't redeliver or even allow me to pay an extra delivery cost.

Food was cold when it arrived and we were missing the free offer items as order was over £60

Chicken chowmeing and chicken noodle soup no taste. Boiled chicken chuked in noodles. Never again.

Late by 20 minutes and missed two drinks of my order, food itself was good.

The food was tasty, however items that should be crispy were not. The crispy chilli beef was soggy. We pre-ordered for a later delivery time, and believe the restaurant just forgot about our order. When we chased this up through Just Eat (restaurant did not pick up the phone) a new delivery time was given, which was also missed. No money back or extra items given for the restaurant's mistake. Very disappointing sadly, and we won't be ordering from here again.

Special fried rice missing but was told refund on the way. Food always enjoyable.

I paid over £2 for hoi sin sauce and the amount given was tiny, in a small container. I could have bought a whole bottle of hoi sin sauce in the shops for less.

Edit: I've updated my review because I've ordered a few times now and the most recent order was disappointing. First two times: good quality, tasty food, good delivery times, and they acted on all my requests. The last time I ordered, the food quality went from 5 stars to 3 stars. What happened? Weird. I'm not sure if I'll order again... We'll see.

The curry arrived with no chicken, I can send images so we can get a refund for the chicken curry and plain rice as we don’t need the rice without the curry

Overall food was good. If you like a lot of sauce with your lemon chicken or kung po, you'll need to ask for more. Fresh meat was much better than anything battered in terms of quality and tenderness. Chicken balls were tender but a very gloopy sauce, of whichht there was not enough. . MSG rating to follow after I sleep/dream tonight.

Unfortunately on this occasion the rice was very salty and almost inedible

A serious lack of chicken in the chicken with black bean sauce, was filled out with veg including broccoli and mushrooms… and no black beans to be seen. No prawn crackers with delivery either which is a let down!

Food was poor in taste and quality seemed very rushed. Chicken breast was white.

Singapore fried rice was not spicy at all, it was bland.

Loved the beef chow mein - dry not oily and wet. Really enjoyed the salt and chilli chips. Will definitely order these again. The wonton soup was just dumplings and veg in boiled water. It had very little flavour at all so we won't order this again. Overall, enjoyable.

Apart from the shicen sweetcorn soup, the food was so salty that it got bined The overall ratings are flattering as 50% of it is on delivery time Do not revommebd

Ordered food for like £40 threw all in hun . Stinks , chicken is white and gray , chow. Mein looks like it was cooked and microwaves 20 times . The spring rolls felt old inside they smelled and tasted like old cabbage

Sweet and sour chicken balls were really good. The chicken chow mein was very poor just noodles with frozen chicken bits. Worst chowmein ever

They got my order wrong but the phone kept ringing until it disconnected automatically. Food is okay but nothing special.

My experience left me wanting a refund. Chicken n prawn balls were heavily dowed, the shredded beef look like it was fried cooled n then frozen for reuse the dumplins, looked fried then steamed and sweet n sour sauce was gelatine n colouri g n tasted like coloured sweetened water, overall minus one is way to much... Stay well clear. Oh the rice was debatable....

Ordered a meal and half of it didn't turn up., phoned to tell these people and they didn't even answer phone disgraceful service or lack of should i say !!!!

Food is very good but they didn't send me the free drink & prawn crackers they advertise. I even put what drink I wanted in the order notes. If I had known, I would have spent less on food and just purchased a can of drink. I'm not going to bother ringing them up to complain over a freebie, but I do feel like I've been conned into spending more money than I would have done otherwise. Hopefully it doesn't happen again.

Good but need to take more time in packing food so they don’t forget things

I went to the takeaway to get a meal for two+. Ordering was simple enough. I was asked to pay a certain amount which I paid. I paid by credit card and asked for bill showing the breakdown of the price. The manager said that they do not give it. I came back home and checked their online website for the prices and noted that I had been overcharged by £ 2+. I also noted that the manager did not give me my free bags of prawn crackers or chicken wings. The menu at the shop said free chicken wings for orders over £ 40 but the website said orders over £ 30. I ordered special fried rice, special curry plus other items. These did not have any seafood of any sort. In my experience special curries or rice always includes some seafood. The portion size was OK but the Calamari I ordered had more onions than calamari in it. The curry had a high tumeric content and was exceptionally oily. In overall terms the food was less than OK due to the lack of seafood content. High tumeric and oil content was also an issue. I also believe that I was overcharged.

Foods were lovely. We all enjoyed. A lots of Chinese takeaways off on Monday. They save us. Thank you. Definitely order from them again!

Beef in black bean sauce tasted sweet and big chunks of vegetables chucked in not even sliced up properly. Even the chicken and sweetcorn soup had big chunks of chicken. Will not be ordering again

Food requests not met and food quality is poor. States that if you spend ‘x’ amount you get ‘x items for free’ but not on free item was received (spent over 40 as well)!

Got delivery. For Food wise, its good but ill probably not get it again, they all taste the same. I was really disappointed on the mapo tofu, see in pic. I did like the prices and Portion sizes.

I really do not like the food. Noodles was just fried oyster sauce with no veg. It just with 6 pieces of prawn put in the box. Disappointed.

Food was disgusting, normally order from eat we but they were closed on Monday so thought I’d give this place a try. Food came and the sweet and sour pork was grey and wasn’t even remotely coated in the sauce. Also no prawn crackers were given even though it says they would be on their website. If you spend over £30 you also get free chicken wings which were not in the bag. Phoned 3 time and no answer. I advise everyone not to order from this establishment!!!

Used to be my go to Chinese take away however food quality has dropped dramatically over last year or so. Tonight food was bland, greasy and in certain dishes lacking key ingredients. Time to find somewhere new as won't be using them again!

Terrible food My whole family is feeling sick after eating t Food from this place. Too much of soya sauce or any other ingredients they have put make you want to puke. We had food from This place long time ago? Which tastes nice , hence went back. Never again !!!! I wonder whether owner / receptionist cooked the food as it didn’t taste nice and was too greasy. Don’t order the special friend rice as the speciality is it’s soaked in a brown/ soya sauce. I would have given less than a 1 star if there was one .

Best Chinese food for miles!! Quality food and Chef!

Normally the food is reasonably nice however tonight's meal was very poor, especially the chicken balls they were rock hard. Did not enjoy at all! When I asked for a refund for the chicken balls I was told that it costs him £7 to send a driver this way, he didn't seem to complain dropping off the order and collecting £46.00 though!!! Will not order again as their standards have definitely dropped, we noticed this when we last ordered too.

Easy to order directly from their website. I loved the vegan Szechuan mock chicken and vegan vegetable rice. They added chilli's upon my request. Delivered on time and good prices. They are very helpful if you have questions.

The food is ok from Hui Wong, but the service is appalling. The orders are rarely on time, and rarely correct. Not a one-off incident - they have consistently failed to meet collection times, and regularly got orders wrong. Avoid.

Bad service and food has no flavour and is so oily and does not taste fresh, delivery was so late and they don't answer the phone, look elsewhere as this place isn't good.

Avoid this place! They will not send fresh food and its just reheated food and when you want to complain they don't answer the phone! Also they food hygiene rating is now disappeared!

Would avoid thus place, claim you will get free prawn crackers and can of drink with order over £20 yet never send anything! Food is not fresh and definitely it re-heated, they don't answer the phone at all when you want to speak to them!

Really enjoy the food,shame,used to be my regular go to chinese…unfortunately lately just can’t seem to send what was ordered..can understand the odd error on a busy weekend night but 3 of my last 5 orders have had errors ranging from half of my order being wrong to tonights, sending sweet and sour chicken balls instead of prawn balls..3 strikes🙄

Ordered from just eat, app informed me order accepted and after 20 minutes it was ready for collection. Drove to shop only to find they had never received order from just-eat. No phone number to call so had to log on and go through help only to find there is no category for just eat failure just for shop and restaurant failure. Well this was just-eat failure but had to record the failure as all items missing from order. Nice sloppy shoulders just-eat. Even this review is aimed at the takeaway and not at just-eats failure.

Good overall, decent price. I'll order other things here.

Ordered Singapore noodles which looked and tasted rather bland - hardly any meat content at all and was full of large chunks of red hot chillies and undercooked onions. Disappointing - never again!

The worst Chinese food I ever had in my life. Chicken chow mein was practically raw with a disgusting old taste which I spat out immediately and the kung pao chicken is horrible. More than half the container is filled with onions and the little chicken there is has no taste other than sweet. Not spicy, not even salty enough no nothing. 5.99 each so I guess you get what you pay for. I say pay that extra fiver and get yourself a proper Chinese meal because if you go for this you'll end up throwing it away and paying another 20 quid or so for a proper meal. YOU'VE BEEN WARNED.

I think it’s had another change of hands as there are some additions to the menu and some removals. I miss the chicken balls as I loved those and the chicken curry was a lot spicier then usual but overall very yummy. Would be good to get freebies when you spend over a certain amount. I was expecting prawn crackers so didn’t order them

Great meal, lovely staff. The food was all delicious, especially the sea spicy aubergine and the ribs. Will definitely be ordering from them regularly!

Some of the food was inedible especially the rice which was one solid lump, the lemon chicken was so hard i couldnt get my fork into it . The chicken satay came with peanut sauce already on it, that isnt what we wanted . All in all a total waste of money !

Ordered few times from Uber Eats. Delivery about 45 minutes. Ordered second time , and both times food was hot and really delicious ! 👍😋❤️

Hui Wong is my usual, go-to Chinese restaurant as I typically think the quality of the food is great. However, yesterday I was shocked and disappointed to find that the food served was not fresh and was in fact from the day before. This was very apparent and made the food hard, stale and tasteless. Restaurants may not always hit the mark but I do, at the very least, expect it to be fresh. Again, very disappointed by this and will, unfortunately, have to find a new local, as I can't trust this won't happen again and has tainted my experience with this restaurant.

Always the best food comes from this restaurant. So much love and care in the dishes, tastes beautiful, lots of lovely rice and vegetables. Forever a five star service.

Unfortunately this place has taken a turn for the worse. I was a regular here when it was with the old owner who took pride in the food, but now the new owners have put the prices up and are now cooking up very poor quality and flavourless food. It's time to move to a different Chinese takeaway. I will taking my business to Mings from now on.

Food not as food as usual, think they may have changed the chefs and/or been taken over. Ordered online and after an hour of no delivery called find my order wasn't even processed even though I received confirmation so had to collect (which defeated the issue of me ordering for delivery in the first place)

My go to Chinese, food always arrives hot and on time, if not a bit early. Think the freshness and quality of the food is good and tastes great. Especially enjoy the prawns in batter, beef with peppers in black bean sauce and chicken with cashew nuts. Keep up the good work.

I found the vegetables too large and the food too oily. The food was leaking from the packs. Disappointed.
