Hoxton Fish House in Hackney

I haven't lived in the UK for over 20 years but always try fish and chips somewhere when I'm here on business. This place is honestly the best fish and chips Ive had in decades. Staff were low key and friendly, sat outside with a nice beer watching the world go by. Really loved my haddock, so crispy and just the right amount of batter. A very chilled and relaxed dinner on my own.

The have a menu board, and then a menu. If you order sit down the prices are way more!!! 4.00 meat pie on the board was 11.00 when eating at the table!! Highway robbery. Total BS!!!

I would like to say the best fish and chips in the UK. When you are eating it you will cry because so delicious. Everyone should try the food

Ordered on justeat, took over an hour for my food to be prepared and I can only imagine that is because they were collecting all of the worst chips out of every batch to give to me. Ordered a chip roll and it came with barely enough chips to fill it and they were all stale, and brown like they had been left out for hours. Would not recommend

Great customer service, and the best chippy ive found in the area. A reasonable price for London and good portions. We'll worth a try.

It was the most delicious fish I've ever eaten, those who served it act like friends, the atmosphere was nice.

While staying in Shoreditch area, my wife and I stopped in here for a bite to eat. I had read some positive reviews on Trip Advisor and wanted to try it. We were not disappointed. The place is fairly small, but comfortable. They have some nice decorations on the wall and racks of drinks. I don't think they have a public restroom. Their menu is pretty big, with lots of fish (of course). We started with the butterflied prawns, which were nicely battered and perfectly cooked (not overdone at all). We also had the cod and chips, which again were cooked perfectly. I tried a local craft beer as well as a Turkish Beer they had. These were good too. Service is fast and friendly, as is the quality of the food. Highly recommended.

Great Fish n Chips and the rest of the food was wonderful too! We were there for a few days and this place was recommended by a local friend.

Ordering from here is like a game of roulette. Sometimes good. Sometimes bad but never exceptional. It really is 50/50. I have eaten here quite a few times over the last three years but I'm afraid I must now admit defeat as those odds are not a worthy gamble. Tonight's dry chips had been sitting for too long and the fish was well overcooked, leaving me angry enough to leave a very rare review. Sorry guys. This just isn't good enough.

I regularly buy fries from this shop and never get sauce with it unless I pay for it. Fries are nice but not as the staff. Very disappointed

Fantastic fried cod! I mean, it was reaaaally really delicious. And that’s was that. The fries was to mushy and not warm enough for my taste (I like it deep fried-crisp!). No sides included to the main dish, so I tried the side salad and (1) pickles which was super boring.. I loved that cod, but not enough to revisit this restaurant due to the sad chips unfortunately.

Hoxton Fish Shop is a real gem. Proper chips (!) freshly fried fish and just excellent and polite service. !00% reciommended

Bought some cod and chips late on a Thursday night. The staff were v welcoming and still offering a full menu close to 11pm. Had to wait for them to cook the fish (not unreasonably at this time). They said 10mins, it was less. The chips were good but the cod was really exceptional. A great piece of fish, cooked to creamy whiteness with wonderfully sweet & crispy batter. Some of the best fish & chips I’ve had anywhere.

Ordered about 20 mins ago. Best fish and ships i’ve had in some time, if not ever. Will recommend and defo visit again !

Great taste and fresh fish, large portion and great atmosphere. Its a must visit in Hoxton ! I would recommend grilled haddock ;)

I attended with a friend mid April and sat outside. The server was super lovely! One of the best service I have ever had! When we asked for ice she went above and beyond and went to the shops! Only realised when she was carrying it on the way back! I ordered chips with vegetable roll and it was tasty and very filling.

Really, really good fish. I’ve been a few times now and the fish is always outstanding. The chips are really nice, although once did find a hair in them, however it didn’t put me off as mistakes can happen. Overall, really good service, good quality...

Do yourself a favor and go to this fish and chips shop. It’s a hidden gem that I stumbled upon while staying in the area. You will not be disappointed.

Found this place by accident. Amazing. Brilliant fresh fish. Batter perfect. Chips not oily at all. Proper curry sauce. Ate inside, staff/owner very friendly and decorated stylishly. Will defiantly be returning.

I love walking near this area and I just found this place. I don't know how to say it but simply I couldn't stop eating for a moment until the last bite. Definitely worth to visit! You won't be disappointed!
