Houghton's Bistro in St. Helens

Everyone has raved about your roast. We went today and it truly lived up to expectation. All staff where amazing and helpful and food was outstanding will defo be returning for another Roast. Well done guys keep it up.

Went for Sunday lunch,had black pudding rosti, and pork roast and then the apple crumble and custard, absolutely best sunday lunch for years,whole family enjoyed will be back to try in coming weeks,

The food was oustanding. I had the steak and my partner had the burger. I live in Rainhill and the steak was better that Maturo's for me. The setting is very stylish and I loved the wine. Excellent choices for me as I am coeliac. Even better if .....if the water had come before the meal and the red wine with my cheeseboard. It didnt detract from the experience. We will be back for the fish and chips as it looked truly outstanding.

Visited here today with the family for a celebration and wow it was amazing!!! Fantastic gorgeous delicious meals and good value on the prix fixe deal. Three courses and every meal was designed to perfection. Decor is stunning and the staff were so friendly and very child friendly too which we didn’t expect but were very glad of. We had my 18 month old niece with us and the staff went above and beyond to help us to keep her entertained even offering to watch her so her parents could finish their food. The staff were immaculately dressed professional and very kind. Thank you for a wonderful afternoon!!!

Looked forward to visiting for the first time. Place is fine, clean and bright and staff were friendly. Two starters ordered, prawn cocktail was distinctly ordinary, Camembert good and staff brought plain toast for our ‘fussy eater’. Two of us ordered pea and mint risotto. As vegetarians, yet again we were charged through the nose. It was completely tasteless and luke warm. The portion size was good but I could only stomach few mouthfuls. The chicken and brisket were fine but not enough vegetables. We ordered a selection of drinks throughout the meal. Only vanilla vodka was available and although the first round of Peroni was nice, the second tasted like pickle juice. Staff explained the barrel had been changed and to be fair they changed the drink for a different one. We paid just over £140 for 4 people, had it been much cheaper I’d have still been bitterly disappointed ☹️. I’m afraid we will not return.
