Location The hotel is located outside the city centre and in fact slightly further away from the general Westend area of Glasgow. Nonetheless, it is a nice location, there is some car park spaces outside the hotel. Building The building itself is several old Glasgow townhouses put together to form the hotel. It has period features such as stained glass windows, wood panelling and wooden staircases. I found the layout somewhat confusing, the hotel has put in link corridors between the buildings but it is difficult to know which direction I am heading. There are also various passages and doors which end up taking you to areas which I didn’t think I was going to. It isn’t the typical wide-open reception which is typically seen. Room I stayed 3 nights in a Classic room called Botham. The room faces North and it has high ceilings as expected in his period building. In many ways, I was pleased to be given this room, when I stayed it was hot and the sun from the south would have really heated the room up. It is important to note, that there is no air conditioning in this hotel if it is hot it is simply open the window and they have provided a Dyson fan in the room. The first impression of the room looks pretty good, until you look closer, there is quite a lot of wear in places. The finish overall in the bathroom is quite poor, where there is a gap, someone just stuck a bit of wood in the gap and crudely painted it over. The room generally is kept clean, but there are times when I find myself sitting down at the desk for example the lamp shade could have been cleaner, and the top of the shower heads has never been cleaned during my time staying there. I am not sure if there is a timetable for when these should be cleaned or if there is an inspection on cleaning because there seems to be poor attention to detail. Breakfast Breakfast is in the dining room. My booking came with breakfast. There are 2 options you can opt for the continental option or the cooked version which is more expensive. With the cooked version you can also have continental as well. The food offering is fine, I have attached some pictures I had the Full Scottish which I have attached photographs showing how parts of the bacon were burnt. Whilst I was staying there, another guest spoke with the restaurant manager to stay he had ordered 2 different things and neither was tasty. I have ordered a different breakfast again with partly burnt bacon, the hotel seems to have a knack for burning bacon. Service I found the service to be not bad, due to the set up of all the kooks and crannies I never really see many staff around. Check-in and check-out was smooth enough. I would say the service is satisfactory but not memorable. There is no one I came across that I felt really made me memorable about them. Overall I would say I probably won’t stay there again, location is fine but if you want to explore the Westend or Glasgow City then you will need to get a taxi or walk to the Westend. This is supposed to be a 5-star hotel which I wouldn’t have guessed. I would put it closer to a top 3 star or a 4 star realistically. The rooms are really quite worn in places and nothing much looks like it has been done to update or renew it. It is getting somewhat tatty. There are now many good hotels in Glasgow I don’t think it is quite up there anymore.

Came here for the Sunday roast at 4PM on a Sunday and much to our disappointment, they had ran out…. To be fair they did end up giving us a rib eye, which was a bit too fatty for me with the usual Sunday roast trimmings, but no cauliflower cheese which was sacrilege. I had to ask for more gravy as they only dribbled a tiny amount over the steak and nothing else. They then ran out of one of the desserts we wanted, again this was replaced and we were given an alternative which was very tasty. They also forgot the spoon for the soup and the steak knife for the steak, but apart from that - the service was spot on even although we had about four different waiting staff dealing with us, which was slightly confusing. Ambience wise it was empty… felt a little stuffy - almost like a gentlemen’s club, but nice all the same. Overall food was actually nice, but I felt for a five star establishment these things shouldn’t happen. Honest opinion given, but probably won’t return.

Read on the 3* is ,I'm sure going to be a 5* on my next visit. Date night with my Wiffy, we've previously been to Hotel du Vin in Brighton and Saint Andrews. This establishment is not Hotel du Vin , it's "One Devonshire Gardens," . The service is exceptional at St A's and Brighton, but damn I get why the side name adds kudos. This is the next level. I love the scars of the historical occupation, and when a property is used for 150 years, it never should be plaster board and veneers. Our room had doors that went nowhere, a fireplace that used to be functional, and the ceiling plaster mouldings, retro fitted as candles and gas lights, had passed, but the historical ethos is proud to be shown and seen, and at least for me wonderful, the scars of time are beautiful. We had a deluxe room, and it was huge! the room rates are very economical, but the ancillary costs! Yup, that's a stinger. The 3*! , I'll keep it brief , it was just a collision of timings, and when I checked out, I asked if I could give some feedback . The staff present said they always want feedback, especially directly, and after my response, I was offered a 10% discount on the bill. Wonderful in every way, they just got caught up with the collision, I felt I needed to valadate that my £ is exactly the same as the £ of the rich and famous and all his entourage, ... However, our August date night is again at One Devonshire Gardens, and I'm sure I will not be offered 10% off , and the 5*'s will be testament of how unique this hotel can be.

Hotel du Vin Glasgow is a magnificent hotel. I can't say enough good things about it. We were upgraded to an enormous suite with a lovely big bathtub, huge seating area and king size bed. It was such a comfy place to stay for three nights. The food at the hotel is delicious; from the breakfast (huge selection) to the dinner. We dined at the restaurant one night and highly recommend it. The food there was high-quality; fine dining without being pretentious. There's also a cosy little bar where you can hang out for lunch or a drink before dinner. Hotel du Vin is a marvelous option if you want to stay in a lovely Glasgow neighborhood. This hotel is not in the city center, and that's exactly what we liked about it. It's on the fashionable West End Hyndland neighborhood, about a 15 minute walk from the Botanic Gardens, the University of Glasgow, and a neighborhood business district full of cafes, bookstores, pubs and restaurants. On that business strip (Byers Rd.) is a subway stop that takes you to the city center in about 15 minutes. It's fun to stroll through the picturesque neighborhood, look at the lovely townhouses and count all the Porsches and Aston Martins parked right on the street. Finally, the hotel Wifi is strong, the service is friendly and attentive, and cozy fireplaces flicker in the common rooms. If you need quiet, ask for a hotel facing the back because the front of the hotel isn't far from a busy road. Love this hotel!

Stayed here for two nights. Hotel is stunning and you get an awful lot for your money. Rooms are large as is the bed. A extra large bath which was a huge bonus, especially as I'm a big girl and over 6ft. Had the vegetarian breakfast which was filling and unique. All topped off with well crafted cocktails in the bar. Lovely stay and will definitely be back.

Where do I start ..Stayed last weekend for 2 nights in their ( best suute) ..Shown up to the room and immediately I noticed the thick cobwebs hanging on the curtains when I pointed this out to the member of staff he said he couldn't see them as he didn't have his glasses on! I said assure me you don't need to wear glasses to see this filth!..Everywhere was thick with dust ..The sofa was stained all over there was some sort of mould growing on a table absolutely manky... Breakfast both mornings a disaster ..Basically way to many faults to mention... Wrote CLEAN ME on a mirror in the entrance hall on arrival on the Saturday it was still there on the Monday after repeatedly mentioning to staff .. Took £100 of out bill which considering we paid way over 1K between accommodation/ food/ drinks was shocking .. Stayed in many a hotel and I can honestly say this was the worst!! ... My advice to anyone looking to book ..Stay well clear .. AWFUL 😖

Had quite simply one of the best dining experiences of my life here. Enjoyed the tasting menu, all 8 'courses' and each dish was a masterpiece. Service and ambience was beyond excellent. Our waiter was first class. Lived up to and exceeded every expectation.

Rooms are a bit overdone. Nice staff at the front desk and restaurant. Let down by inexperienced management. Service charges are a bit rich for my blood.

A hotel of this calibre should invest in decent TVs for the rooms.

It's a great hotel in a good location. Rooms are a good size and well fitted out. And it's good to see period features of the building are retained. Staff were excellent and friendly.

Visited for afternoon tea had been given a clearly marked £75 voucher the value of which had been confirmed at booking Nice surroundings, very lovely server by name of Frances who was very friendly and attentive. We were VERY disappointed with the sandwiches. Bread all white and not of special quality cut into large rectangular pieces and outside pieces had been open to air leaving them hard . Fillings 1Ham over powered with mustard 2 Smoked salmon 3Cheese overpowered with chutney 4 The most awful lettuce and tasteless tomato no dressing Scones were nice, as was clotted cream Cakes and pastries dainty and tasty. No garnish salad bowl as per photos on website. At end we were told our voucher although it said £75 on card it was only worth £50.I said not acceptable and after some chatting to a manager they agreed it was £75 and bill amended . Nice surroundings , not much atmosphere as very quiet also way overpriced for quality of food we received especially the sandwiches , so unimaginative . Cost £88!

Originally enticed by the description of the burgers on the menu whilst walking by one day we've been a few times over the last couple of years and always been impressed. Last night was a busy Saturday night and the food was phenomenal (we didn't want it to end) - t-bone steaks, various sides, cocktails, wine and desserts, the service and staff excellent and the a great atmosphere too. A nice place to sit and eat - not too big or loud and you're never sat in the middle of the floor. Definitely one of our favourite restaurants ever.
