Hotel de Ville in Thanet

Charming accommodation for an overnight stay. Rooms old but clean and accessible via very steep stairs. Nice pub downstairs.

I would definitely recommend this hotel even being above the pub it was so quiet and good location to harbour and beach and excellent staff thankyou for a great stay

Simple and clean rooms, insulation not great. Owner and other staff members are very friendly and helpful. We did not use the bar but they have Madri on tap, so it must be a good place to drink ;-) Location is a either great or terrible, depending on expectations, but close enough to both the train station and centre. Bus stop outside the hotel.

Stayed here in July of 2023. Made a lot of nice friends and met some amazing people. I returned again in July of 2024 and had the exact same experience, met some amazing people, saw a lot of regulars from my first stay in 2023. Building has been upgraded and the service is exceptional as always. I need to go back in October of 2024 and again I will be staying at the Hotel De Ville. Exceptional place for the money you spend, pub underneath, everything is close by and the people are amazing and friendly. I highly recommend staying at the Hotel De Ville if you need to go to Ramsgate. I come all the way from Canada and I know for sure that this hotel is my home away from home.

Great location - short walk to the beach, 10min to the city centre, local Co-op across the road, free parking on the road. Staff at the hotel and the pub were very helpful. The place looks recently refurbished on the outside, so it looks nice and the pub had a cosy feeling. However, the rooms need serious maintenance, cleaning and upgrading - shower and toilet leaking, moulding tiles in the bathroom, etc. Beds and pillows were worn out, so this place is good for a not so expensive accommodation when you have no expectations.

Great place to stay. Room was clean and had everything I needed. Staff really welcoming and friendly. Great location aswell. Will definitely stay again.

Stayed 4 nights. The location is perfect as you're about 20 minutes away from the harbour so it's lovely and quiet. They don't serve food but they have a cafe.and incredible kebab shop less than 5 minutes away. The staff are unbelievable and so friendly... however there are downsides. The on street parking is extremely limited. Most houses have at least a single drive and some have doubles. You're staying above (or below) a working pub. Bear in mind the staff are multitasking. I wouldn't recommend it to disabled people. The stairs are awful and there's no lift as it's literally an old pub. The owner lives in and must have leg muscles like iron! The TV signal is iffy. Didn't bother us as we don't watch TV.. but it leads in to my biggest problem. We had gone out for a day and on returning stood in the pub discussing wether to have a drink or go to the room. The barman was waiting for our decision. We decided to put our stuff away and come back down and found the room door wide open, the window wide open, the TV on and keys that weren't ours on the windowsill. We reported it and got told that engineers were on the roof working. Understandable but surely a 3p post it note on the door with Workman inside written on it would have been a good idea. A free "ladies, there's bloke on the roof who used your room for access" would have been even better. Closing the door to our room while they were in there would have been perfect! He assured me the owner would be told about it and we returned to our room. Obviously, we were shaken up so triple checked the locks that night Got up the following morning and the door was on the latch. We reported it to a lady who said she'd inform the owner. We never heard a thing back. Oh and take a beach towel. There is no blind in the bathroom and only the bottom half of the window is obscured. If you're over 5'3 and want privacy in there, you'll have to block it off yourself.

Stayed over bank holiday weekend and it was a lovely place. Bathroom immaculately clean and staff very friendly. Only one downside is all rooms are twin rooms not double for couples. Having said that would definitely recommend this place, friendly staff, great atmosphere and would definitely stay again.
