Hot Wok Chinese Takeaway in West Dunbartonshire

Like many others here, shared the same experience. Waited two and a half hours for a meal as we were staying in accommodation down the road and had very little access to food as all the local shops were shut. Was told the food was on the way many, many times. Ended up standing in the middle of the main road trying to flag the driver down. When he did arrive, the price suddenly had an additional charge on it but we were so hungry we just paid it. What to say about the food. I have genuinely - and I mean this for real, no dramatisation here - genuinely never had food this bad in my entire life. It was not only the worst takeaway I've ever had but the worst "food" I have ever ingested. We were starving and still only eat half of it. There really isn't a rating system that can adequately balance the god awfulness of this wretched takeaway. From conception to digestion it was a hell like experience. Even if you're truly starving and close to death, don't order from here. The meal might just push you over the edge. But being dead will be more fun than having to digest this god-awful rancid pish.

Chicken wings undercooked and pork in the chow mein was riddled with fat , waste of money and will never use again , horrific

Food arrived late , munchy box was a shambles chips were a soggy mess and made up the majority of meal , one spare rib , 2 chicken balls , 1 chicken wing and tit bits of chicken , would not recommend

Late delivery, arrived warm, I actually spat it back out as the chicken was inedible and went in the bin! Dog wouldn’t even touch the prawn crackers 😏

Pretty meh, very strange using white onion instead of spring onions for duck and pancakes. 2nd time ordering and won’t be again as the standard just isn’t there.

Far too much salt in food other wise good

Delivered at earlier stated time. Food hot and most of it tasty. Polite friendly staff. Will be ordering again

Sorry but this is the worse Chinese Iv had. The kids meals were burnt. I could call have actually drank my omelette it was that greasy. The chips were burnt and soggy. Never again!!

Food took 2 hours to arrive and when the driver came they demanded more money driving the price from 14 pound to 26 Everytime I phoned to ask for an update I received nothing but attitude and no help After 2 hours wait for my food that was meant to arrive in half an hour the food was cold

amazing only problem chips like reheats ,otherwise was really good.

I don't order takeaways very often, but when I did ,I always ordered from them. Left instructions to use the doorbell, instead the driver was make noise using mail box. Opened the door ,to see that the 2 little bags (one whit my prawn crackers and one whit my can of juice) where on the floor,and he picked them up when iopened the door,which kind of put me off. Then for the first time ,my salt and pepper munchy box was so salted that I needed water,so I'm not going to order from them again.

Late and CHARGED additional £2 for delivery…so £5.50 delivery ! Wouldn’t have been to bothered but the food was nothing great…it was ok, fairly bland and uninteresting

no rice with curry and to top it off the delivery guy charges me 5quid extra at the door for delivery no other reason why, will not be ordering again

not the greatest Chinese I've had, I got fried rice, chips and curry sauce, s&p chicken balls and a chicken curry roll. Everything was warm and soggy and the curry sauce was sweet and just tastes nothing like curry sauce probably won't order again especially with a 8 quid delivery fee

I'm giving this 2 stars because of the delivery nothing else. The chips were definitely reheated, they were absolutely disgusting and cold, the chicken and pineapple had more pineapple and onions than chicken and absolutely tasteless. Will not order from here again.

Got my chicken balls tonight delivered at my workplace. They were all greasy and the chicken wasn’t nice to eat.. the batter was so well over cooked too.. not happy

Although the food was on time, it was freezing cold. The chicken balls and chicken pieces were as if they had been fried 5 times and was like biting into a rock with dry chicken inside. Chips were soggy, hot and sour soup was horrible and mostly chilli peppers, and the noodle soup was made of cardboard tasting noodles with the saltiest soup liquid. Munchie box was also solid and mostly soggy chips. Hoisin sauce was so grainy and tasted like 5 spoons of salt had been added. Will not be back. Food

experience from this restaurant is awful the food was awful burnt and swimming with grease that had went all over the other boxes of food when contacting the restaurant they came collected the food and said to contact just eat for a refund apon contacting just eat I have been refused Mt refund also after the restaurant saying this would be done avoid this restaurant one for the food being awful overcooked and swimming in grease also refusal for refund after collecting the food that was sent.

Never again will I be ordering from here! Waited the best part of an hour for the delivery driver to pull up and sit there for over 5 mins! When he eventually brought the food to my door he apologised stating there was a confusion in deliveries. I then emptied my soup from the container into a bowl to find a hair. When I phoned I was told there is no long hair in the kitchen, considering I have light hair and I'm the only one in the house this doesn't seem likely! Hope environmental health take this further.

Delivery time was ok but driver just left food at the door, didnt wait for me to answer the door and only part of the order was there. 3 phone calls and 20 minutes later it was resolved and full order arrived. Food was ok

literally the worst Chinese takeaway I have ever had !!! normally go with taste of china and should have stuck with my regular . the greese on the onion rings soacked through the wrapper , the spring roll was soggy and tasted like a re heat , the chilli and garlic sauce was like water with absolutely no flavour or spice ,do you even taste what you are sending out to people ? .total waste of money .the whole lot went into the bin .

Really disappointing. The egg fried rice was OK, the rest was not so good, most went in the bin.

I’ve ordered a few times from here but honestly this was grim and it’s gone in the bin! Swimming in oil, noodles have no taste and have a slimy texture. Wish I had saved my money!

1720-1740 delivery window, message to say the driver was on his way at 1730, food arrived at 1810. Food was on the cold side, crispy duck wasn't crispy, very average battered chicken and sweet and sour sauce. The pineapple fritters were nice though.

I scheduled my delivery and it was on the dot! Impressive! Furthermore, the food was of good quality. I will order again and can definiteky recommend.

Worst food I’ve ever had, ordered chicken noodle soup and the noodles has the texture of cardboard and the chicken was like sandpaper, same can be said for their munchy boxes not to mention the fact I found hair in my soup too!

Awful never tasted anything like it

Bbq pork chow mein had an odd taste to it. The curry sauce was also strange. Salt and pepper chips were average. Had to pay 5 pound more for delivery after i had already paid due to the restaurant saying it was further away… not really sure why this wasnt known at the time i made the purchase

Food not up to usual standard. Meats tough, sauces a bit dark and clatty.

The food was stone cold and congealed. Satay which is normally spicy was very sweet. The fried rice was solid. The Spring rolls were cold soggy and oily. The prawn crackers were good.

Ordered food from here and waited over an hour and a half with no delivery happening, contacted the restaurant for them to tell me they do not deliver to my address after accepting and confirming order and then giving estimated delivery time. Man was rude on the phone when I challenged this and told me if I want it I need to pick it up. Highly disappointed with this service. Do not recommend and certainly will not be using them again.

Duck was chewy, chicken seemed more like processed chicken, curry far too spicy and chips overcooked. Almost entire order went in the bin. Plus menu said rice or chips served with curry but this wasn’t the case, also stated free juice with orders over £30, again not the case. So disappointed.

System said food would be delivered at 20:20 - 20:40, food didn’t arrive until 21:15, after I phoned the restaurant twice to find out where the order was

1 hour 40 mins delivery time. £96 including delivery and surcharge only to find a dish was missing. Owner refused to send it and said he would refund me. 3 phone calls, 3 days and no refund. Just Eat won't refund me either for food I didn't get. This was also probably the worst "Chinese" food I have ever had. Avoid.

This was the first time, when ordering Chicken Satay on the skewer, that the sauce was definitely not satay. It was sweet with no satay flavour.

Absolutely disgusting. The salt and pepper chips were reheated chips and it’s nowhere near your typical salt and pepper seasoning. The chicken curry was revolting, tasted like something out a tin, one bite and into the bin. The soup was just about acceptable. The side of BBQ sauce tasted off with a weird consistency, binned again. The salt and pepper beef was okay also but yet again, not your typical salt and pepper flavour. Best part were the cans of Fanta. Delivery driver was brilliant. avoid

Delicious meal worth the money spent

Food wasn’t very hot and they rang us to ask for extra money for delivery,never bothered to tell us that it would take like over an hour and half to come. Was not worth the money or the wait

The prawn toast was an absolute joke, I didn’t ask for coke I asked for Pepsi. The dumplings were covered in soy sauce I never asked for

Chips were soggy, gave me a can of Fanta instead of my litre bottle of Sprite. Beef chow mein just tasted a bit rank and they gave me my soup in a square takeaway container like a group of wain riders. It was also about 20 minutes later than estimated

As always, the food was fantastic. However, for only the second time in ordering from the Hot Wok, I had to phone the restaurant to find out where my order was as it was over 25 minutes late at that point. We were assured that the delivery driver was just around d the corner, however it took them a further 20 minutes to get to us
