Had an amazing shepards pie dinner today, great meal and great service with a very friendly waitress sue, will definitely be back again

Sam and Ben were so friendly, welcoming and helpful. The food was fantastic too. They are both a credit to you.

The staff are lovely but the food is awful had a Sunday roast really disappointed

Had my father in laws wake here on Friday 21st Feb and we were all very impressed with the presentation provided. Tablecloths and flowers on table which was a lovely touch, also china plates not paper, and the buffet provided was excellent. Thank you Ashley for making the wake for my father in law so lovely which all the family agreed with.

Thank you to Ashley and the team for great service and wonderful buffet that had a very good selection of food that all our family commented on the quantity and quality, the service from the team for all young and old at our Dad's wake made the day finish on a happier note , my Dad would have loved it

On this particular day, the service was so slow. Booked a table for myself and my family . Staff were friendly enough. But Thankful I have been here before and knew what to do . But For new comers no instructions were given on how to order. You can scan a barcode on table or order at the bar . We order by the barcode on table but it would of been hard quicker to go shops and home to make it myself. Normally service is OK. Nothing to shout home about but ok . This particular day not so great at all .

We stayed at the premier inn and ate at the horse and jockey. ALL the meals were well cooked, very well presented and served with a smile! Breakfast this morning was one of the best I’ve had for a long while! Ashley, Lorraine and all the team are a real credit to the place. RECOMMENDED

Waited for an hour to get mains. Then for desert they gave us one and forgot the other. We had to then ask for the second desert. Very bad service- only thing is food is a bit cheap here. Weatherspoons in the town is defo the better choice .

Although we’ve lived near to the Horse & Jockey for almost 40 years, we have only just discovered this wonderful gem quite by accident, as one evening when neither of us wanted to cook, so we decided to eat out and went down to the H&J. We were not disappointed and have made this a regular weekly occurrence for the past five years. The staff are amazing and I must pay special attention to Sue behind the bar, for as soon as my wife and I walk in, our drinks are ready without having to ask. We are made to feel part of their family.

We both had the duo roast dinner, the chicken was nice but the gammon was very tough and very salty neither of us ate it. The Yorkshire pudding was good and I actually ate all of it but the carrot was barely cooked and tasted raw. I asked for extra gravy and the waiter looked shocked lol, he did bring me some however. We both wanted the apple and blackcurrant crumble only to be told it was no longer available, why is it still on the menu?

There was a very long wait for the food, considering there wasn’t even many people in the pub. The food was also horrendous with my 86 year old nan getting burnt sausages the first time and when they bought her another dish they were very undercooked. My brother spent ages waiting for a pot of gravy as well, my bacon was also burnt. My dad’s steak was also meant to be medium rare and came barely pink.

Absolutely useless arrived here at 11AM to be told not open by who I can only imagine is the most miserable/rude bar manager (manager in the loosest sense) so I waited until 11:30, wasn’t told if they were open or not had to go in and find out for myself. Tried to order a soft drink and food using the QR code, only for food and soft drinks to not be available!!! It’s 28 degrees today and I’m with my dog, so now had to walk again down to Watermead where they seem to actually know how to run a pub. Fuming.

Second visit the first was perfect which is why we returned. But this time 4 of us was crammed in a small table and the service was not the best this time.

Great. Had a few meals here over the last week and the service was fast and friendly. The food was all good for the most part but we did have some concerns. The battered mushrooms starter was still raw in places so I can't recommend that and the burger was just on the edge of underdone (slightly pink in the middle) though acceptable enough to eat. However this was very much the exception and the majority of the food we did receive tasted great with good portion sizes. It just needed a bit more cooking on that occasion and it would have been perfect!

Value for money is good although the food itself is basic pub food.

Bit of a spontaneous visit for lunch. Good choice on the menu and very reasonably priced. My lunch companion's food was ok but my Hunter's Chicken was cremated. The breadcrumb coating was black around the edges and the chicken dried out. On reflection I should have sent it back.

Great celebration for my mum's birthday. I loved the meals and the drinks, and I will definitely be heading back there sometime soon.

Always had nice meals here but couple of weeks ago ordered the usual ham, egg and chips! A while later I got what looked like a lump of raw pink meat! When I questioned this I was told it’s now gammon instead of ham! It was disgusting 🤮 and raw! Full of salt! Not eating here again! Should change the meal name on the menu!! Ham is not gammon! Not sure who the management is now?

The beer was good nicely chilled and severed in the appropriate glass. Ordered food and the starters came prompt and where good Waited an hour for mains when a member of staff came and said they where not available. Seem the till to kitchen system does not work. Sold things they can't forfill. Offered an alternative at same price cost slightly more but still didn't turn up. When questioned it was loads of sorrys. Chefs first night on his own! Asked for refund which was given. Later revewied the new receipt and it was not correct. Returned to resolve this and the duty manager just lost it and ran away in tears. Came back and gave me the correct receipt. Then a colleague got all push and shuvey but I couldn't reciprocate or the police would be called. I feel they were all youngsters all lest in charge with no management. The place was OK and but left in charge or youngsters aid very little with poor staff training. Won't go to a ember inn again I like to vote with my foot fall

Had such a great time hanging out with friends tonight! Sue was our amazing server who kept us entertained with her delightful banter and took such great care of us throughout the evening. She really made our experience incredible from beginning to end.

Lovely pub, good menu and drinks choice reasonably priced. Bar staff welcoming and friendly, especially Sue, nothing was too much trouble, will definitely be back! 😊

Lovely dog friendly place to go and have a drink, They have a good selection of ales and cocktails, they also have a nice seating area outside. Food is spot on, good value and big portions, I haven't had a bad one yet! There is also an app you can download and collect points each Time you go there for food. The app gives you offers all the time so recommend that highly....

Ordered the sirloin steak medium rare it came practically raw. Peas were hard. Deep fried stuff was way over done. Burger was decent though.

First time visiting and I would 100% come back again. Lovely, cosy atmosphere with a fire and the Christmas decorations looked so beautiful. Had the best meal I have ever eaten in there tonight. The beef ribs were amazing and so was the Eton Mess that I had after. Staff are friendly and very attentive, I was a single traveller and felt very at ease. Thank you so much

Excellent pub with friendly staff, recently got a craft beer on tap which is good. The food has got much better than it was a few years ago and Harry and the team are brilliant.

Our curry was lovely but my husbands burger and chips were not very hot. He was offered a coffee.

Booked online. Advised it was a birthday dinner. No effort made in that regard. Salt in shaker was damp and unusable, ketchup bottles empty. Eaten here numerous times previously and food had been good, I mean its a pub not cordon bleu however on this occasion, the Chipotle chicken chilli bites had bits of bone in them causing the guest to physically gag, the steak on the mixed grill was rare and chewy, the breaded prawns on the surf & turf were over cooked. Bit disappointing overall compared to usual standards.

We had a dedicated area having booked for 13 plus a dog. We provided list of required lunches and all went to plan. Meal was enjoyed by everyone, including Casper the dog. Thank you to the H&J team.

Service is good only sometimes the tables are sticky but they immediately wiped it upon request. I like the selection of drinks. All like is in.

We held my brothers wake here on the 21 july 2023 the staff couldn't do enough to help and they did us proud, food good well cooked and plentiful, that's why we came back to the Horse and Jockey for my husbands birthday, lovely pub/restaurant lovely staff will be going back again 10 out of 10 Horse and Jockey

A 57 minute wait for 2x eggs on toast with no update throughout and no apology once delivered. The restaurant had no more than 20 covers at the time. This place is my local and there’s an issue every time I visit. Would give the Horse & Jockey Aylesbury a minus rating if I could. Don’t bother.

The Horse and Jockey is attached to the Aylesbury Premier Inn. Although breakfast is not served. An extensive menu of good quality food freshly cooked to order. A popular busy pub. Advise to book in the evenings especially Sunday when roasts are served all day until the meat runs out. Friendly staff. A good choice of beers on draught.

Great service , the ladies serving were very friendly, went there for office lunch and I really enjoyed the beer battered mushrooms and grilled chicken dish , portion size was massive so left full , definitely recommended!

On Saturday evening, 48 of us sat down for an R.A.F. reunion dinner. We found the service and the quality of the food very good. There was a lot of choice from the menu and, without exception, we all enjoyed our 2 or 3 courses. The pub is very well managed and the staff well trained, polite and attentive. We would definitely return. It just needs the decor updating a little or it would have been 5 stars.
