Fabulous place. Great food, chilled atmosphere. Nice vegan beer too! I wish they were open a bit later, that would be my only criticism.

Spicebox test kitchen has taken weekend residency at the Hornbeam cafe for a season. A delightful combination of flavours. Every dish and condiment has been well thought through and a great taste experience. The cashew and coconut korma dish had depth with hints of cloves and bursts of mustard seeds, flavoursome with fresh veggies, more spices and coconut. Sides included dhal and saag aloo, the latter potato wedges panfried with an array of spices and fresh spinach. Condiments of mango chutney, lime pickle and raita, silken tofu blended with mint. Only one white and one red house wine. Our choice was the Leefield Station Sauvignon Blanc from Marlborough New Zealand, could not have asked for a better accompaniment. Meal ended with oat milk masala chai, 24 hours infused with 8 spices. The mango sorbet was sweet and tangy. If this is anything to go by, we will be regulars where ever they are. @eatspicebox @saltandstonelifestyle

I love this place. It's one of the oldest places in Walthamstow offering vegan and vegetarian food. Try the Vegan English breakfast and scrambled tofu toast. They are my favourite here. Check out their vegan treats, muffins and Cake. You will not be disappointed. All created with locally sourced products.

The Hornbeam is a small cafe on a busy main road that could be easily missed, but compared to the standard offers of other cafes in the area it is very good so it is worth not missing it. The food is vegan (not my favorite in general), but the quality is pretty good, the coffee is decent, they have nice teas and cakes are surprisingly nice. Informal, relaxed, friendly service, small space with only a few tables, very reasonable prices, perfect for lunch or a coffee break.

Local cafe with smiling, friendly staff and wholesome tasty vegan food. The miss-matched tables and chairs add to the charm. And you can write a witty aphorism on the toilet door... chalks provided. And home-made slabs of cake. What more could you ask for?

On the hunt for breakfast and stumbled across this place. The weekend breakfast menu looks amazing but, it being a Friday, we made do with toast and jams. They must have fun making jams here, all five were interesting but the taste of the cinnamon marmalade will be with me all day. Brilliant.

I came here on a Saturday with my family as I had heard a lot about it. The cafe is quite small but it is so welcoming, cosy and warm. It was busy when we entered but we didn't have to wait for long until a table was free. The staff are incredibly friendly and accommodating. There is a nice family type vibe at this cafe as regular customers were coming in. We ordered two soups and a brunch dish which included tofu scramble, sausages and a chickpea fritter. It was absolutely delicious. The price was also very reasonable :) Everything here is vegan and they have a good variety of cake, raw food and hot food. I would definitely come here again!

This cozy, magical café features vegan and vegetarian fare that is organic, local, and fairly traded. I was here for Sunday brunch and had the delicious and filling Hornbeam brunch special. Coffee is also great. The ambiance is warm and relaxed and the service is top-notch. It just seems like a very familiar place even if you walk in for the first time. Great place for coffee and meal in Walthamstow.

GREAT DESSERTS- always get birthday cakes from here. the staff is nice and i have never had a problem with how delicious the cakes were. i love how they sell cake slices to be able to taste the cakes or just as a little treat. the cakes are always moist and stay good for days after buying. the one time i had a problem they resolved it very quick and i was so very happy. the staff is friendly. everything is reasonably priced we have been going for year and will definitely be coming back for as long as they’re open!

I’d been meaning to visit for a while as a colleague had kindly brought me breakfast to work from The Valley Cafe a few times and it had been a real treat. I’m now kicking myself I didn’t visit sooner! A lovely atmosphere, delightful and swift service and a really delicious breakfast baguette and coffee. I highly recommend a sausage, egg & black pudding baguette (there is a choice of fillings) and the produce is excellent quality and value for money. There’s plenty of free parking, too. Looking forward to a lunch visit soon. Thank you to The Valley Cafe.
